Fun mini-game, impressive amount of writing. I think you've made a great core that can become an amazing game after some post-jam work on appearance.
Seems that sometimes requests, quest text and the goal don't match up, but I'm not quite sure.
I like mini game idea. You should experiment with energy or weight to smooth balance
The tutorial left me completely confused, but after trying to make the first potion I got the hang of it. Nice game :)
@Librorumque64 I didn't have much time to check if the text was working right. I'll check it later.
I would love to put some more work into it!
Thanks for your feedback!
Hehe I know that dinosaur from some where :^]
Really cool game! I've never played something similar to this minigame before! Combining that with the story/ novel aspect of creating potions works really well! It is very clear that alot of work as been put into the writing, and there is so many different potions to make! Sadly the game seems to be stuck in a loop at the point where the hunter asks for a light potion. She just comes back again directly afterwards to ask vor the same thing. I still enjoyed the game very much!
@Elbcore oh fuk... Didn't have time to playtest it...
Hahahahaha
thanks for the feedback
@timbs I dind't have time for making art myself so i just took some pictures from google XD. In the game folders it's called Adventurous dinosaur
Thanks for playing!
Got the same issue as @Elbcore, stuck at light potion. But interesting concept, though a bit confusing at the start. It required a bit of a careful touch when trying to separate two elements coming from similar directions. Some music & sound would help a lot but as you mentioned, hard when you're doing it solo :)
Very fun minigame, but I still didn't always know what to do. Either way, the story was very entertaining!
The art style was rather inconsistent but i really admired the gameplay. It took a while to understand how do you make the potion but eventually it was clear. I can say for one, pushing away the colors was a bit finicky since you need to constantly shoot them. It gets a little overwhelming as more dots start to spawn. Maybe making it a single shot which pushes the dots away at a constant force would be cool.
@Iaaac I didn't have time to make any art :(
Thats why I ended up using images from google
Thanks for playing!
@svdvorak After some playtesting I discovered that some npc combinations fuck up the game. Others don't... I'll take a closer look.
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!
I was a bit confused at first, but when you understand the basic idea it's pretty fun :D Even though you didn't make the art the gamefeel is pretty cool too :)
Good job:)
Nice writing and interesting minigame. 2 things though:
- if you're going to make a text based story telling game, maybe take the time to make a ui widget with something that isn't Arial (and scale the font by point size not by transforming the widget, otherwise its edges don't get hinted correctly)
- **cite your sources for 3rd party art** otherwise people might get the idea you are trying to pass it of as your own.
Awesome, nice game and idea 5/5!!! Good Luck!
Hooo it's so short :) I wanted the story to progress more. I had a lady, the dino, then 3 time the hunter girl, then Thanks for playing
The positive: * Cool concept, the potion crafting minigame is really fun, not too long and challenging enougth * Feeling of really arriving in the village and meeting people * Very usefull potion index
The less positive: * NSFW content could be a warning, the "Drink and F**$ all night" was funny and good for character creation, but some may be offended. I wasn't but some may * It would have been great to have longer story arcs, maybe I should try the game once more and see differents npc
Overall, this is an awesome game! Congratulation
@togis Yeah it's waaaay to short... I had a bussy weekend and the game was a solo project. I'll keep working on in tho.
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!
@DUUUUDE no worry, I woudn't feel it's too short if I didn't enjoy it! Only good games feel short ^^
What a game! It is a very cool idea and I had fun playing! That being said it did have some problems, on about day 3 I think when the dinosaur comes back for his second potion, I gave him an ice one, then he can right back and said the same thing... But besides that the game is nice and the story is pretty good for 48 hrs!
@kippllo Yeah, the game breaks under certain conditions... I did my best with the time I had
THANKS FOR PLAYING!
Great idea and the potion mixing looked like a "Selective Tower Defence" minigame. The stories were fun to read and you felt that you were making potions with a purpose. Good job!
Really interesting concept, that's a great mini game for determining elements, gets me thinking !! Great work
If you'd like to try mine https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/spacescape
Not too bad, I liked the idea, But I don't see where the theme comes in, Anyways, Great job!
Wow! This game is alot deeper than i figured at first sight! xD I absolutely love it! Thoroughly surprised with the potion mixing mechanic, it's both challenging but still managable and intriguing. Keep up the good work!
In into this type of game so I like a lot your mix of generes. It's really cool that every customer has its own story and it evolves. Really interesting and entertaining way to manage an alchemy store. Really cool. Although the minigame was really hard for me, at most I filled 3 cicles wih the appropiate color. I also made a simulator for this jam, so I would appreciaty if you could give me your opinion since you made a game of that type https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/a-tavern-life
Good gameplay!
