LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

People/Power by SecondDimension 2018-12-05T15:45:10Z

I grew up on The Incredible Machine so this was absolutely in my taste. Quite a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get the little guys to the big robot though as others have mentioned, physics are a bit wonky so hard to figure out how get a working path. Great art-direction as well!

Puzzle Kids by jsmars 2018-12-11T10:22:49Z

@rongo-matane Thanks for the kind comments! You have to sacrifice things from the walls or pieces to boost the fire and keep it alive. Any pieces you burn you can't use to solve the puzzle of course.

No Brakes on the Train of Life by squaredev 2018-12-05T14:29:30Z

The game looks and feels very polished with a fun way of portraying the age old problem. I found the comments between levels funny as a way of saying there really isn't a way to win in this. Procrastination showed you had some fun with the design as well. Hats off to you, you did a great job!

Elwik Mage Academy by mrjoshuamclean 2018-12-05T20:47:26Z

This was surprisingly fun and engaging, usually I find it a bit hard to get into visual novels. Really cool that you had time to get in multiple endings as well.

Samurai by Novella 2018-12-05T15:50:23Z

Man, this game is hard. Couldn't get past the two samurais at the same time. But I loved the facial expression of the emperor.

Dev Jam by Fahrenheit459 2018-12-05T21:10:20Z

A pretty fun concept, the greater the 'game' that is made the worse it is to work on. And I loved the Wilhelm scream when you fail with sound but without input :)

Var'alith by Akuirako 2018-12-05T13:56:53Z

Absolutely nailed the mood and the graphics & sound complemented greatly. Like others I stumbled upon a few bugs though I was able to complete the game once without enough sacrificises. Great work!

Fishy Rescue by Nelson William 2018-12-05T16:02:57Z

Oh my, this was way more fun than I'd figured at first. Great work on the effects when launching a person (that is a weird sentence out of context). Good work with the balance, both figuratively and literally in the case of the weight of the airship based on number of people carried. Really good job!

Skeleton Key by Zigg 2018-12-05T13:30:56Z

Fun twist on the sacrifice theme, I thought the character started jumping when I sacrificed a leg which would have been hilarious but only seemed to be a short glitch. Love the visuals but some sound-effects would have been nice. I wasn't able to complete the game on my three tries though, in the last cemetary I always got stuck somewhere when doing a minor sacrifice and it wouldn't show the hands.

PuzCol (Solo) by harshyyness 2018-12-05T13:19:17Z

Love the visuals and the music fits very well. Reminds me a bit of Thomas Was Alone. But like others have said, very short and can't see the connection to the theme. And the jump delay was a bit annoying. Still a very good job!

Praise The Snek by Preside 2018-12-05T15:13:17Z

Looks pretty nice and fun running around stealing stuff before your friend can. But I really wished it had some animation and sounds, it really would have improved the experience.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Ocean View Hotel by Eldy 2019-05-01T11:26:39Z

Well done, a fun experience. A bit much walking back and forth while it definitely could have helped with more feedback on the enemies while firing, kinda hard to know if you did anything really. Wished you could turn around while aiming too, a bit tricky with just WASD. Still, fun to play through, good job!

Bloody Penny by tiffi 2019-04-30T15:56:04Z

Pretty fun, got a little bit tricky navigating around the enemies while trying to catch your coin. Some more sound effects (and maybe a little lower volume on some) would have been nice but well done considering the short amount of time!

The Cult of the Morning Star by TheGamer1123211 2019-05-01T08:38:43Z

This was such a nice game, I really think you got the mood down and the balance seemed pretty good. And I summoned Az’gath the slain! Good art, fitting sounds and I like the fact that you always have the ultimate summoning card in your possession, just tempting you until it's actually time.

Seaway by Constantin 2019-05-01T10:26:48Z

Amazing game, it's really impressive how you got so much into the game. And such an experience, beautiful while both relaxing at times and hectic at others. Only issue is that natives would spawn in the air sometimes, a very small gripe really. Still, absolutely great work!

Meat Your Unmaker by freakoftheyear 2019-05-01T09:31:31Z

That was hilarious even though I had no idea what I was doing (could be a bit more clear on what symbols do what). Loved the sound effects in the intro and the art is spot on. It sure made me chuckle at its absurdity. Very polished as well. I love Wolfram and Wolfram loves me!

Knock Knock... The travelling soulsman by Angry Squirrels 2019-05-01T10:41:56Z

Hilarious, beautiful and with surprisingly amount of dialogue and options. And the intro is just amazing. Absolutely love the long scroll of salesmen with you at the bottom :D Failed pretty spectacularly so trying again now. Oh, and I lost my mouse cursor after restart, seems to be a bug.

The Extravagant Bill by Bragou 2019-05-01T10:01:06Z

I didn't have another person to play with but it was fun enough trying to make the most expensive hat. Some very fitting and great art. I also had an issue with the mouse going outside the playfield which made it a bit trickier to play.

GTApp - Great Tube App by Gaming Night 2019-05-01T09:41:27Z

I also had an idea about making a game about streaming but I think you made it better than I probably would have if I did it. Pretty fun and gets tricky keeping all your viewers though I was able to get $6.593. Though you get a bit too stuck when touching a wall, would have liked if you could slide a bit to more easily get out. But you really nailed the driving feel otherwise! Good job!

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-04-30T14:14:22Z

Very cute game and nice work on getting all those features in, including an intro and an exit! Also nice that you added a enemy proximity warning. I did have a few issues though: enemies wouldn't spawn or wouldn't try to get to you, I would often fly high up in the air for no reason and I was unable to buy the fourth level tool.

Dadiator by Ametentia 2019-04-30T14:59:33Z

Nice work though a bit tough to keep up with all the expenses to keep your family alive. Possibly a bit too realistic :)

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-04-30T15:33:38Z

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! Sadly I got the game fully playable pretty late in the jam and never had time to do too much game balancing so it seems to skew towards pretty hard the first few tries. Though I don't want the game to become too slow when you've played a few tries.

@bartman @vjmunhoz I'll see if I can get a Linux & Mac build out, it's built using FNA so there is no option for a web version sadly.

@tomfu I agree that the visuals could be improved, just didn't have enough time! Thanks for the info on your crashes, I've only had one and not sure what caused it. I'll see if I can find the issue.

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-05-01T14:15:02Z

Thanks again for the great feedback! I haven't figured out why it every so often crashes, still looking into it. I'm also trying to get a Linux and Mac build.

@doramemo Good write up. I agree, it's a little unclear though the info-screen was too cluttered as it was already and I kinda wanted people to figure it out for themselves. The idea behind linking people together is that they work more directly with eachother and get less drained from it.

$8000 is a lot! I think you hit the ceiling on difficulty-levels there, will have to add more.

The fact that people dying doesn't count towards failure is by design, as is them staying on the board. It's more of a point that in this company, people don't matter, calculations do. Having them stay is a reminder to the player of the effects of their actions. I do like the idea of slowing down the rate of new workers though, it makes sense.

@sbeif I was hoping to add some physics into the game so that no item could overlap but instead would push eachother out of the way. Didn't have time to get that done though. So now you have to keep it clean and structured manually, as best you can.

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-05-01T16:48:51Z

@bartman @cem-adiloglu @vjmunhoz I've now added Linux and MacOS builds! Enjoy! :D

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-05-01T22:12:31Z

@m2e Ah, darn. I'll give it another shot tomorrow, I can't really test it myself since I don't have a Mac.

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-05-02T16:06:09Z

@vjmunhoz Excellent, thanks for trying it! @m2e Fixed it now, I put in the wrong application name. Tested on my friends old Mac. Just re-download the file and it should work.

Bloodletter by shp 2019-05-01T09:53:20Z

Looks great and feels great with a good level of balance. Got through after a few deaths (though hard I did not get past). Love how the shotgun shells just fly into place when you reload :)

Tree life : Dwarven Invasion by Yohsk13 2019-04-30T14:20:01Z

It sure does get stressful towards the end :) Still, good job on getting something done. I didn't understand what to do more than just fill the slots up with the two towers, is there a way to increase the health?

Asteroids by tomfu 2019-04-30T15:41:37Z

Nice work! Nice with clear instructions on how the game works. Though it was a bit unclear on when guns where cooled down to fire again or how their placement would affect their shooting (since it would seem they could shoot in any direction). So I kinda just spaced them out and that seemed to work. In the end, I saved them :)

Hunt by JDPhoenix 2019-04-30T15:09:33Z

Awesome that you've joined the world of game jamming :) I also only got two enemies and couldn't do anything else after that.

CybeGypt by Kot153 2019-04-30T13:32:38Z

The music was a bit grating but a cool idea and got some nice art!

My way to Hell (Unfinished) by Axelle Desquilbet 2019-05-01T11:08:35Z

Couldn't understand how the game worked, could only move right and jump but when the giant came I was stuck. And apparently I couldn't die either even when my healthbar was empty.

payblood by eyedromeda 2019-04-30T15:18:26Z

Very well done, nicely executed idea with a surprising amount of polish. I survived my first way through but not without losing an arm and a leg (literally). Great job!

Behind Your Light by Cem Adiloglu 2019-04-30T15:25:05Z

What a cute little astronaut guy. It's a shame that he kept dying on me! :) Pretty hard to keep track of everyone though it helps a lot that you can move them when aiming the flashlight on them. I loved the little intro you did too, very smart to have one explaining how it works!

It hurts to move on by vjmunhoz 2019-05-01T09:10:45Z

Beautiful graphics, I really love the retro 3D. Interesting trying to figure out if you're going the right way. But it got a little dull just wandering around in the harder difficulties.

utsvulten by ditto 2019-05-01T11:30:18Z

That sure was interesting. Polished and wonderfully weird. Atleast I got him fed :D

CoinStory by WTG 2019-05-01T09:18:32Z

Cute and very nice work on the art, I like the black and white. I did get stuck once when respawning close to a human but after restarting I completed it with a time of 80.63 seconds. Can definitely be better :)

README.btc by Vaclav Kucera 2019-05-01T08:18:55Z

Well I'm impressed. You got a full experience with both a puzzle game and a meta game. And both where pretty good as well! The texts may have been a bit uninspired, had some typos and some news could repeat but overall, great work on getting the mood right. I also got the "Currency is life" ending.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-21T13:18:58Z

Oh my, what a game! I loved the atmosphere, the writing, the artwork and colors... everything really! I wish it was longer. And I've also learned something new, I had never heard of gopher networks before.

Joe Disco by limered 2020-04-22T09:04:09Z

I'm the funk master! That was fun although pretty difficult, took me a while to get into the groove. Loved the voicelines, excellent work!

The Genesis Loop by jsmars 2020-04-22T14:24:24Z

Thank you all for the kind comments! We're very happy that you like the game!

@jasond Yeah, it was ambitious to add the custom scripting engine but as we had several friends who aren't game developers but happy to help with the writing it actually was a net positive!

Mayday by awerar 2020-04-21T11:47:25Z

What an excellent game! Great visuals, I love the handdrawn sprites combined with the more realistic effects. And man does it get challenging after a while. Controls were very responsive as well so I only have myself to blame for letting our planet die!

Field Hospital by n.feofentov 2020-04-21T12:50:21Z

Great work in such a short time! And so polished! Following the narrative of each patient treated was fascinating and it was tough to make decisions at times.

snakebite by mmemim 2020-04-27T21:32:38Z

Amazingly well polished, looks fantastic and it just feels so good to play! I just wish it had some more challenge, it's very easy as is. Still, amazing work!

Cat Shelter Simulator by Fat cat 2020-04-22T14:19:43Z

What a cute game, lovely playing it. But I got too ambitious and expanded too fast so I was just shy of the monthly rent and my shelter had to close :(

Fiery Caverns by mitsu.artemius 2020-04-22T09:31:24Z

Who wouldn't want to try the game after reading the project description! Lovely game, it felt like there was a huge cave to explore. And I loved the books you could find with the fun dialogue. It was a bit of trial and error to see where you were going since the light becomes so weak so fast. But otherwise, good fun, great work!

The Last Raccoon by IceBox246 2020-04-21T14:15:14Z

I saved the raccoon! Loved the art and the intro/outro & transitions. And it was fun to play too! I'm glad that you added the option to up the difficulty. Great work overall!

Pet Sitter! by Sockyman 2020-04-27T21:45:43Z

Nicely done! Great that you added a tutorial, it helped a lot and got me going pretty fast! Though I didn't understand at first that you should keep the ball away from your creature to increase its happiness. I also loved the events that could occur by email. Added a nice dynamic of changing things up or just giving some context to why the owner wouldn't return :) I wish there was more to do also but its LD, time is very limited! Again, great job on making the game!

Tama-Gotcha! by JasonD 2020-04-22T14:38:22Z

Grooble is the way to go! Loved the game even though I wished there was more to do. Still, it had me hooked until the very end. I guess it's a good thing that I'll be first to be assimilated? Excellent work!

Pirabbit by TimeTravelHamster 2020-04-22T12:13:48Z

Loved the game! Feels great to play though the small delay between pressing jump and actually jumping threw me off at times. And I wish the game ramped up quicker, the first 4 levels are too slow when you get used to the game. I think I would have continued to play longer otherwise. Sorry to nitpick, I think I do it because the rest of the game is so amazing! Great work!

MOTHER QUACKER by ZMVL 2020-04-21T11:37:58Z

Really cute and lovely! Though it seems like I am a bad duck-mother. I couldn't understand the timing of protecting from the birds and the camera is incredibly sensitive. Though that is all weighed up with having a Quack-button. QUACK!

Mumei by Abid 2020-04-21T13:26:10Z

Looks great but is a bit rough to play, would be great if it had more visual & audio feedback. I didn't get if you could kill the tanks or mechs? Still, great presentation!

Frankie Stein Keeps It Alive by AnaHandley 2020-04-22T12:33:23Z

I found the contrast between the girl and the bear hilarious even though the game itself was way too easy. Definitely worth playing through to see the dialogue!

Energence by noirdrive 2020-04-22T12:23:00Z

The game looks great and has a fantastic atmosphere. But for me it's a bit too fast in certain areas. While the movement speed is fine, walljumping and gravity makes it too fast. Amazing work especially for your first game, you should be proud!

The Apocalypse: Your Fired by oramun 2020-04-21T12:59:00Z

Interesting idea about having the light decrease! A bit too easy as is, I always had the fire fully lit without any problems. Very cute!

Lightlife by Merpui 2020-04-21T20:12:24Z

Interesting concept and fun to play! It looked pretty funny when you aim the light straight into your "face". It's not that great when you do it in real life :)

Careful Defense by tsombi100 2020-04-22T13:43:37Z

Really cool concept and a pretty good implementation. I wish you had more control over which enemies the towers attacked, usually the enemy in the front took all the shots. Got to 294 seconds at which the screen was just full of enemies and I was spamming the healing button :)

Deer Quest by Brachistosauro 2020-05-09T14:38:11Z

Hilarious, good work with the writing! And it's a good take on how games have you kill so many enemies to reach a goal like saving one person.

LD53 — Delivery

Trebuchet Post by zgragselus 2023-05-10T17:25:28Z

That was a pretty hilarious concept and well executed! Never knew how fun it could be flinging packages using a trebuchet. Good level of polish and good addition with the tutorial at the start. I do agree with the others, some sounds repeat a lot, like the turn sound and the package bounce sound. But overall, great work!

Snapdash by caeonosphere 2023-05-10T17:13:06Z

That was awesome! Great execution and polish, I was able to get 13,500. The difficulty ramp up could have been a bit faster. A bit surprising for me was even with the timer running out it still felt like a pretty relaxed game. Great work!

Tracks 'n Bandits: Haulin' Cargo by Terquey 2023-05-10T17:45:35Z

Cool little game, with a nice idea and fun gameplay. Cute art! I found it a bit too easy though and I'd recommend to greatly shorten the time it takes to enter the station, unload and exit. Felt like I was often just sitting and waiting for that to finish. But overall, great work!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Golf N' Grenades by Imphenzia 2018-04-30T07:02:48Z

Love graphics and animations, the fact that the zombies throw themselves at you and then die is pretty hilarious. I found the game a bit too difficult and finicky, it's hard to line up a shot without putting all your force into the shot.

Golf with Guns by Issac 2018-04-24T14:16:34Z

This was surprisingly awesome! Hilarious doing doing swings with a shotgun while simultaneously keeping those pesky zombies away. Took quite a few tries to finish the last hole. As @GeraldFIngBurke said, you really nailed it!

Stranded - LD 41 Game by Corvin 2018-04-24T08:21:58Z

Rather light on the survival aspects, didn't really need to manage that part. But fun none the less, walking around solving puzzles :)

Idling Racer by voxel-box 2018-04-24T08:48:50Z

I have to agree with @Hello.Coder, the race button looks like a high-score. You might want to add a line in the game description here to hint about that. And the turn radius is frustratingly large, a lot of stopping and backing up to go around corners. Nice addition with the minimap! And I got to say, just the thought of having to click a bunch to get gas while driving in a race is pretty fun :)

Run N' Cook by LeonLaci 2018-04-24T13:49:29Z

It was a bit unclear on what one has to do to get the ingredients but I eventually figured it out. Cute game anyway, though a bit lacking in challenge.

Highway Trouble by Code Dream 2018-04-24T08:27:11Z

A bit unforgiving, I could easily get trapped with no way of not colliding. Still, pretty charming and I love the fact that the cars honk at you and you get a chance to switch lanes.

ACCIDENTAL EXISTENTIAL by slovnoslomo 2018-04-30T06:56:19Z

Fascinating use of the theme and with great use of audio and visuals combined. It got pretty eerie to actually finish the second and third parts. Loved it!

Peculiar Adventures of Dorothy Hops by detectiveLosos 2018-04-24T12:41:39Z

Hilarious genre-combo that for sure kept you occupied during dialogue. Maybe a bit much even, hard to look forward on the level while reading from left to right, I mostly skimmed the text sadly. I think voice-over would help. I've got to say that it was very nice that you made the platforming pretty generous, that kept it from getting frustrating when you would barely miss a jump. And absolutely loved the art style! Great work everyone on the team!

Oh, and I never thought I'd actually run to catch up to a robber to get mugged, usually is the other way around :D

The alchemist (fantasy alchemist simulator) by DUUUUDE 2018-04-24T13:12:08Z

Got the same issue as @Elbcore, stuck at light potion. But interesting concept, though a bit confusing at the start. It required a bit of a careful touch when trying to separate two elements coming from similar directions. Some music & sound would help a lot but as you mentioned, hard when you're doing it solo :)

Storming Sands by grizeldi 2018-04-24T13:40:57Z

That was pretty fun, I enjoyed the thought of people racing inbetween attacks. And it was very entertaining seeing your race-competitors charge and smash into the tanks :)

I really liked the music as well but the gameplay was a bit slow though, took a while to accelerate and get around. I guess that added to the outer-space'ian feel.

Tower Defense Paradise! by Sokuaisushi 2018-04-24T12:23:31Z

Pretty fun mashup of genres and very cute text. BLAMMO :) Though I had issues when trying to build things in the TD-mode. It would deduct the cost yet not actually place the tower or wall.

The Tale Of An Arts Major by gegy1000 2018-04-24T11:28:37Z

Very fun idea, not much to the stealing but fun to try to replicate the art. Horribly in my case. https://i.imgur.com/LK2sZYN.png

KEYBOARD WARRIOR by croewens 2018-04-24T08:35:03Z

Pretty fun walking around shooting, I loved the little "sound" texts and how you present the letters and ammo left. Just wished it had some sounds and music! Movement seems a little iffy btw, doesn't move very smoothly.

Exilium by JammedGame 2018-04-24T14:08:39Z

I couldn't figure out how it worked. I see three letters in the book but nothing happens when I press them. Any hints?

Tour de Arizona by honey 2018-04-24T11:49:20Z

Surprisingly charming and fun, I really liked the art-style! Some game sounds would help and increasing the difficulty would help create that highscore-chase itch. And an online scoreboard of course :) But all in all, great job on your first admission!

OPERATOR by Hello.Coder 2018-04-24T09:03:40Z

Amazing mood, really sets the stage perfectly. Great having an intro and tutorial like that. Enemies could be a bit more visual (kinda hard to see the blips). With more refinement I definitely could see this as a fun, smaller, game. Until then I'll just continue running "rot 5000" and "fire 10000" :D

Shape Destroyer: Ascension by Lumos 2018-04-24T11:16:59Z

Couldn't get building to work, even though tile was showing blue. Was only able to open menu on the power plant. Good work though in only 17 hours!

Shape Destroyer: Ascension by Lumos 2018-04-24T11:31:30Z

@Lumos Maybe it's because I have a swedish keyboard layout or something. I've had issues with that before. Good thing it seems to work for everyone else though :)
