LD44 — Your life is currency

The passion of a peasant by kuro 2019-04-30T13:19:38Z

A cool art style and animations with nice humor and good sounds. Now if only it wasn't way too hard for a mere mortal like me :b

Super I-Egg by gilborn 2019-04-29T18:53:09Z

The concept was really great, and this was definitely one of those games where some polish could make it into a game people would pay for.

Developer Story by KonH 2019-04-30T10:03:15Z

A cool idea and a nice game overall with a lot of diverse events. I think there could've maybe been something to indicate the character's well-being, since the developer knows exactly what's happening under the hood with each action, but us players don't. I definitely liked the simple art style though.

LifeCoin Race by Loganou974 2019-04-30T10:59:53Z

Really good music, sound effects and art style and a fun arcady feel. Especially for just 24 hours, this is very impressive. Maybe winning the bots was a tad too easy, though playing three characters at the same time against a bot raised the bar nicely. Good job :b

LONG LIFE by amykos 2019-04-29T13:00:58Z

A really cool take on the theme. With some polish this could be turned into a fun mobile game.

Radioactive Worm Storm by MarkoPoloDev 2019-04-29T18:40:39Z

Cool and unique concept. Definitely kept me enticed for quite a while, though unfortunately I didn't manage to win... I especially liked the art style of the graphics.

Blood, Sweat, and Money! by WiseClock 2019-04-30T10:46:09Z

A fun and simple game that went well with the theme. It felt like I ran out of space really fast, but that's probably just my inability to plan things out. Overall, I definitely enjoyed playing the game, though I had to mute it after a while :b

Happiness Life by ManTou 2019-04-29T13:46:00Z

An equally fun and stressful game, and an innovative take on the theme. I especially liked the art style. It might be a bit too difficult, or maybe I'm just bad at these kinds of games :b

One shot by Synedraacus 2019-04-30T12:52:53Z

A really cool game with great writing. Some ambient music and maybe a different font would've tied it together, but I definitely enjoyed it either way, and the hand drawn notes were a nice addition. Nice job.

Superhero Movie Universe Simulator by halfmule 2019-04-30T10:26:05Z

Unfortunately I couldn't play this on mobile since the android's task bar took up the bottom two villains, but it worked just fine on desktop. I really liked the idea and it was definitely a fun and unique game, though that black and red font wasn't the easiest to look at :b

Fair n Square by DaniDev 2019-04-29T19:09:01Z

A great arcade game with loads of replayability. The controls feel just right and I love the "slow motion" feel. The graphics and sound are really well done as well. A few more upgrade options and local multiplayer would truly take the game beyond LD.

CHICKEN FACTORY by WhyNotYT 2019-04-29T14:37:25Z

A fun and arcady game with a clear objective (which apparently can't be taken for granted). The take on the theme was definitely cool and I enjoyed the game overall. The thing I ended up wondering about is where you got the chicken sound from :b

The Devil's Coins by Kevin Liu 2019-04-30T13:07:05Z

Nice idea and a well done execution. Definitely an interesting control scheme, as many have pointed out, but I actually enjoyed having to use something else than wasd and the mouse for once. Nice job overall.

Flowaz by Harry Damm 2019-04-29T19:18:53Z

A really unique and creative experience. Loved everything about the art style, and the game definitely had a nice vibe going on the whole time.

Your last 10 seconds by guimero64 2019-04-30T11:17:28Z

A fun and unique experience. Everything was nicely done and nothing was lacking. This is one of those games that could easily be taken beyond LD, and into a proper indie game. Also, the The doctor sounded like Tommy Wiseau :b

Take them with you by Dinorex 2019-04-29T13:13:35Z

Took me a while to figure out what I had to do, but other than that the game was really fun and I especially liked the retro art style and the ambient music.

LD49 — Unstable

Unstable Relation by Mathiouza 2021-10-09T19:42:07Z

Ah yes. I made the same mistake of making my first ever 3D game this jam, and in Godot as well. Yeah, art stuff takes a deceptive amount of time when the third dimension comes into play. Very nice little game, as short as it is. The attack happening so long after actually pressing the button made the character feel a little sluggish, and the enemy attacks were slightly hard to judge since they were moving straight towards the camera, but after getting used to it the combat actually felt quite good and the dash was really fun to use. The game looks very nice and I like the art style. I can also appreciate the effort you put into actually implementing animations considering the time limit.

Larry the Vengeful Balloon by Nick Rafalski 2021-10-07T20:02:21Z

Nice game. I especially liked the sound effects. I do think the way the character stops when changing gravity is a little jarring, and maybe keeping a little bit of momentum each time would make it a bit smoother, but I can't say for certain. Either way, it's a really fun little game.

Ornztarbil by magnusfurcifer 2021-10-04T18:31:39Z

A very enjoyable and suprisingly long game for 48 hours. The movement took a little bit of getting used to, but was very fun after that. Those enemies are deadly accurate until you realize they have no sense of player movement. The death from enemy bullets could be a bit more obvious. At one point I thought I'd gotten to the goal and gone to the next level, while in fact I had been shot in the back right before touching the goal. I enjoyed the flat art style a lot and especially the first person arm was a very nice touch.

Keptin, de core is unstable! by Shigor 2021-10-09T20:08:13Z

I really like the concept, and the voice acting and humor are on point. The game is very fun and just the right length to keep you engaged the whole time. I also really enjoy the hand drawn graphics. The cyrillic "ja"-character being used as an "R" like it is in everything western that tries to imitate being Russian or Soviet is quite funny.

Last Fall by Maus Games 2021-10-05T19:15:31Z

Very polished and fun game. So much smoothness in things like the respawning, getting hit and just the tiles disappearing, it's quite remarkable for a jam game. The graphics are brilliant and I really like how you fully leaned into the minesweeper aesthetic while the mechanics are completely different from it. It feels like repurposing an old thing into something new and unique. Good job!

Penguin Panic by munkkeli 2021-10-04T19:25:27Z

A great take on the theme and quite an original idea. I enjoyed the simple graphics and the alerts were a very good touch to make sense of what's happening. I did misclick on the buttons a couple times, so maybe making them larger or adding keyboard controls could solve that. The way all the penguins fling themselves off the iceberg when you lose is very funny, and the win screen text is a nice touch too.

Orbital Rescue by amkingTRP 2021-10-04T19:02:40Z

This game builds a very nice atmosphere. The graphics are as good as what you can ask for considering the time limit, and the concept has potential for a full game, given enough polish. I spent a good minute on the starting screen pressing buttons until my fingers landed on the spacebar, but that's just the sort of completely natural oversight you get when you work alone. I did also find myself wishing for the option to replay a level after I left some survivors behind, and the fire doesn't actually hurt if you stay very still, which might be a bug but it's also quite funny.

I feel you on the HTML5 problem, since porting to that seems to always introduce so many fresh bugs you didn't even think existed, and ironing them out takes a lot of precious time.

Overall I think this is a very good prototype of something that could turn into an actual paid product.

Polypharmacy by Zomk 2021-10-05T17:55:43Z

A very fun little game with quite an innovative mechanic. The graphics are really nice, and the level of polish for a jam game is remarkable. I really enjoyed that the amount of steps you can take isn't a constant concern, which makes it less stressful than most grid based puzzle games with a step limit. The only complaint I can think of is that the game isn't long enough, which is one of the best faults a jam game can have. All it needs now is more levels and maybe another mechanic to be a full fledged game.

Socio Milk by brusnika 2021-10-05T18:41:18Z

I really enjoyed this. The graphics are so strange yet so fun. The controls are straight from space with the amount of inertia they have. The colliders are off by orders of magnitude. All the people scrunch up at the stop lights and release en masse when the light turns green. This all combines into a surreal experience that had me nothing but smiling with slight confusion all the way though. All this needs now is janky voice acting and music, and it's going straight to camp heaven. I await the day when this turns into a full game. Very nice work!

10 minutes to instability by José Bonilla 2021-10-07T20:46:11Z

The most stressful game I've played during the jam so far. The atmosphere is very well built, and the music is great, though everything is a bit too loud, and I had to drop my volume to about a third of normal when playing. The control scheme was also a bit finicky, and something like moving with WASD, interacting with Left Click and opening the phone with E or Right Click would've made me feel more at home. Though perhaps the unusual controls are a way of making the player feel less in control and fumble around when stressed, which is what happened to me more than once, and it's quite clever whether intended or not. Very nice work!

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-05T18:52:07Z

A brilliant and original concept executed with the grace and polish you only experience once in a full moon in these game jams. The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is really good fun and everything just seems so well tuned. Some jam games have the potential to become a full game, but this one already feels like one. Hats off to you!

A day in a life of an electric spaceship owner by spacecadet 2021-10-11T14:09:56Z

Quite a fun and frantic game. The beginning cutscene stands out as impressive, and I like the art in general, although a little extra color variety could make the scene stand out a bit more. The collider areas are a little too small for my liking, and picking up water or a wrench while running past them failed a bit too often, not to mention using the stairs. Considering the amount of focus the game puts on moving and acting as fast as possible, that's a very central thing that hinders the experience, but fixing it shouldn't be too difficult. Aside from that, the game is quite simple to understand and very enjoyable. I always appreciate jam games that can be picked up and played without having to read or go through a tutorial.

Better Tomorrows by DzejPi 2021-10-05T20:30:21Z

I love the take on the theme and the feeling of being thrown in the middle of a dangerous and escalating situation without any control over it. The comedy of the letters and the "don't mind the explosions, just keep cutting wood" attitude made the game very enjoyable, and as much as it draws parallels to something like Papers Please in the setting of the game, it's also very much it's own thing and feels quite different and original. It does also give that sort of uneasy feeling, as it should considering the setting, and I think it treads the line of dark satirical comedy and the fear of war brilliantly. Good job!

emoceans by ty_ 2021-10-04T18:14:19Z

A small and cool game. It mixes relaxing and slightly stressful elements very creatively. I'm especially a fan of the minimalist art style.

Stonx! by Gastar 2021-10-09T19:58:18Z

Very cool concept and a great and original take on the theme. I accidentally bought too much stuff a couple times and lost because of not paying taxes and all. Maybe adding some sort of indicator when you're low on money would make it more obvious, but it might also take away from the intended challenge of having to pay attention and keep an eye on everything at the same time. I must say I especially enjoyed the unstable platform event, and it came as quite a surprise the first time. Nice work overall!

Timofei Cauldron by gdman 2021-10-07T20:22:44Z

Cool concept with a good amount of potential. The duck was cool and all, but there should really be the option to play as a goose...

Vitamin D-Ficient by BougieBirdie 2021-10-07T20:56:30Z

The concept of having to replay the same level with changes made by you on previous runs is very cool, and gives the game a built-in difficulty curve and a possibility for longer term strategies. The game is a little crude in it's current form (mostly the movement), but so are most game jam games. What matters is that it's a great proof of concept that you can now develop into something more. Good job!

AnoidBuild by lifedrain 2021-10-05T18:10:06Z

One of those games that's far better than the sum of it's parts, and definitely the most fun I've ever had with a breakout game. The only gripe I had was trying to hit that last piece, which was quite difficult with the ball and racket being as speedy as they are. With more polish and sounds this could definitely work as a mobile game, and all you need then is some skins and microtransactions and boom, it's basically a money machine. But seriously though, it's a really fun mvp and has a lot of potential.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Dimmest Dungeon by doomshmuck 2022-04-11T21:38:13Z

Quite a nice game with a cool mechanic. The music is quite rough and the gravity is from the moon, although I actually liked this most of the time, since it made it easier to do cool maneuvers and save time. This is definitely something that could be fleshed out and turned into a full game with enough polish, and more levels of course.

Keeper of Colors by Lazzor 2022-04-13T20:33:29Z

This is a very cool concept and an impressive execution of it. The music is nice, but the individual tracks are often out of sync. You can also press E at any time to show the end message, which I'm guessing is only supposed to show up when the cape is fully colored in, though I'm not sure. I really like that the foliage can be layered, and had a lot of fun building a really dense forest and getting up to the treeline.

Overall, it's a really nice proof of concept, and definitely has the potential of being a central mechanic in a puzzle game, or perhaps something more relaxing or artsy.

MoonDoggle by realryanrogers 2022-04-11T21:05:36Z

A cool idea and a great aesthetic. I like the environment, and the particle effects are a nice addition. The shooting sound effect gets a little repetitive though, and some pitch variation would go a long way for that. The mouse sensitivity was way too high for me, but that's really something that requires a slider to have it be good for everybody. The steeply increasing difficulty curve is actually fine for a jam game in my opinion. A lot of games linger on the same idea for too long, and this is short enough to not become boring at any point, and to incentivize multiple playthroughs.

Shades of Deception by AMastryukov 2022-04-18T21:09:11Z

What a brilliant experience. The mechanics, plot, visuals and sound design are all comparable to proper commercial indie releases with similarly sized teams, and the fact that this was organized, designed, programmed, and delivered in such a cohesive and elegant package, in 72 hours, is quite astonishing. Seriously, hats off to the team's organizer(s), and everyone else for that matter.

The loose connection to the theme did make me wonder if the game's concept had been thought up before the jam, but looking at the diversity of the team's previous entries, I don't think the theme was simply shoehorned onto a fully thought-out idea.

Out of all the jam games I've said have potential to become a full, commercial release, this one is definitely the furthest along that path. The gameplay loop works, the polish is there, the art style has been nailed, and all it needs is some more gameplay and complexity. And maybe an action sequence...

I'll definitely be following this team in future jams, and would love to see some behind the scenes or making of's.

Desktop by eyedromeda 2022-04-05T21:35:37Z

@games-by-tom @zsharpfire Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked the game. I'll be sure to finish the description once I have the time.

@vgel The browser game bug is something I unfortunately only noticed after submission time. The player's running speed accelerates while playing, and I simply forgot to reset it at death, which leads to continous acceleration until the player is so fast he hits the first obstacle every time. Per rules of the jam, I'll fix it as soon as rating time ends.

I'll make sure to also check out all your games when I've got time. Uni keeps me quite busy.

Desktop by eyedromeda 2022-04-11T17:56:33Z

@games-by-tom Thanks for pointing that out. It's been fixed now.

The Fall of Mezentople by vgel 2022-04-10T15:09:21Z

Such a cool concept and a great execution.

I think the fact that the consequences of your choices aren't very apparent or "gamified" with stats is one of the strongest features of the game. The choices, to the player at least, don't boil down to a simple game of numbers. The feedback is shown well enough already to make consquences clear, but not enough to make min-maxing the game very viable. As there's no way to know which is the "better" choice, the player has to choose based on morality and judgement of outcome alone.

The level of polish here is outstanding. The UI is clear, cohesive and good looking. The animations add a lot to the game feel, but are snappy enough to not hinder the pacing. Some sound effects and music would go a long way.

The game is engaging and thought-provoking, and has a lot of potential to be expanded into a full game. The foundation is all there, it just needs some more scenarios and choices. A randomly generated map also seems plausible, and would add a lot of replay value.

Block Wizard Arena by Games_by_Tom 2022-04-10T10:50:35Z

I really like the concept here, but it's somewhat held back by slow pacing and clunky interface. I think having the given actions on a limited timer would work best if, given you don't choose anything in time, your turn simply gets omitted.

In terms of visuals, I like the blocky wizards and the aesthetic of the environment. The action options could be a little clearer though. Upping the contrast between the box and text, as well as having icons or different colors for damage, life, mana, block etc. could help make them readable faster. The camera movement is nice, if not a little jarring.

The game drags on a little, and I feel like giving the player less starting health to make every action more impactful, or simply scaling the enemies up faster could help. Cutting down on time waited between turns and rounds could also make the gameplay more engaging, but these are all quite easily fixed nitpicks on an already great foundation.

Buhanochka Z by gdesecrate 2022-04-15T14:10:51Z

I really like the PS1-style graphics and sound effects, and the consistensy of everything to that theme is very respectable.

The camera is a bit all over the place sometimes, but I definitely think it suits the game far better, and makes it a lot more interesting than a normal 3rd person camera ever could. It adds a constant layer of intensity to the gameplay, where the hyper-dynamic camera is as much of an enemy as the zombies, and that combined with the massive airtime makes the game really fun and intense.

Although there's not much to do gameplay-wise, the camera and jump mechanics alone make flying around the map fun enough to make this one of my favorites of the jam so far.

Timebound by zSharpFire 2022-04-10T12:31:41Z

I really like the aspect of being thrown is a small space filled with enemies, but I feel like the player should be locked into one room until no enemies remain, as constantly running outside is a guaranteed way to never die. I feel like changing the player's speed bases on the weapon would give another tactical element, and help with weapon balance. The machine gun would make you slow, and the pistol fast for example. Right now the MG is quite overpowered.

I really like the mechanic of switching to random weapons from the loot boxes, but it's not actually necessary, as killing enemies also gives you HP, and moving to another room just resets the weapon to the best one. I think keeping the room closed until all enemies are dead, maybe only giving back HP from loot boxes, and keeping the same weapon while switching rooms could improve the gameplay loop.

The enemy bullets are really hard to spot. They're the same color as the player's bullets and the hit effects that fly everywhere. The amount of screen shake also makes them hard to spot.

Overall, it's a really good concept and quite fun to play. It definitely has potential and just needs some polish.

Gary by Mohammad Aldehayat 2022-04-13T21:28:58Z

I like how the pipes work, and they're quite satisfying to use. The boxes and bananas could be a little more effective though, and some more variety would always be nice (although the time limit is usually to blame in these cases). The art style is one of my favorites from the jam so far. It's very unique and creates a strongly themed setting. The overflowing colors and the paintbrush texture also look really nice.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

MAGIC-281: Intro to Alchemy by ninjacreeper47 2022-10-13T13:12:09Z

After a long day of studying I simply wanted to play some games, and you tricked me into more studying!

In all seriousness though, this was a really fun and unique experience. The lecture was incredibly accurate to many I've had before, although the subject matter was more interesting. Seriously though, everything from going "ah, that makes sense" during the lecture to trying to choose between two answers in the test was astoundingly similar to a lot of the courses I've had in uni. And yet you still managed to make it fun and engaging.

Considering I only went through the material once, having to skim read a lot of the text in 10 seconds, and didn't write anything down or rehearse for the test, I'm pretty proud of an 11/18. I pretty much had the basic theory down, but had to guess on a lot of the trivia about Qluix and Kudu, since I hadn't thought that historical figures would be an important part of the scope for the test.

I always enjoy having new and unique experiences when playing jam games, and this was most certainly one of those to the utmost degree. Good work!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-17T11:06:09Z

Five stars across the board!

I'm astonished at the level of polish in the game. Everything from the way the text bounces when it changes to the ball hit sounds rising in pitch makes it seem like a game that took months to make instead of 48 hours, which is probably why I've spent the last hour playing it.

You've hit gold with this concept, and all it needs now is some variation, like multiple levels with stage hazards, like solid terrain or places where you can't put any items (pegs and cannons), and maybe a few more items introduced throughout the levels. Add a target amount of money to complete each level, and that's all it needs to slap a price tag on it and call it a real game. I for one would love to see it.

ROAD TXTR by congusbongus 2022-10-11T19:37:39Z

This was surprisingly great.

The obstacle avoiding driving game has been done to death in my opinion, so I'm always a little vigilant when playing another one, but this one had a cool, fresh twist that made it enjoyable.

The texts required multitasking, which was surprisingly difficult and made me commit accidental manslaughter a couple of times. The humor was great and also added to the fun of the game, and the graphics were really nice.

There was an issue with the game not running at a fixed framerate, which most noticeably made the music constantly change speeds, but I'm assuming this is just an issue with TIC-80.

Good work!

Helping by MossGames 2022-10-12T21:43:46Z

Quite an cool little game. I can always respect an in-game tutorial, and the game was surprisingly well balanced difficulty-wise, besides the issue of running out of certain resources, which makes lasting a long time more about luck than skill. This is probably still better than making the game drag on for a long time until the player gets bored though. And I think that not having a certain resource available when it was needed added some pressure to the game.

None of the graphics really matched each other, which would've bothered me in a normal game, but I think jam games should be given far more leniency, and I actually tend to prefer a weird or unique approach over a boring one. Like I think that making the doctors fruits and simply not elaborating on that is very funny in an absurdist way.

Good work!

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-17T18:22:10Z

Very innovative and fun concept. The graphics and animations are satisfying and really polished, and the gameplay loop is well paced. The sound effects are on point, and all it needs is an equally exciting soundtrack.

I would've liked some optional info on how exactly the mechanics worked, as it took some time for me to figure the specifics out, and it was somewhat difficult trying to make sense of them while being in the midst of combat. Getting into the fighting immediately was definitely the right choice, however, since many people do prefer to figure it out as they go and not be worn down by walls of text.

Overall, really impressive for a compo game! The level of polish on everything was quite remarkable.

Bear's Home Repairs by AMastryukov 2022-10-09T17:09:56Z

Quite a fun game with a lot more strategy than expected. The first time I basically played it as a wave shooter, only using the primary and walking around the house. After that I started to actually use the items given, and what at first felt like a horror shooter became an efficient teddy killing system.

I like that the razor wire sticks around, since it creates a nice progression of player strength, but I wish the same applied to the turrets. Even if it could very easily become unbalanced in the player's favor, I feel like building up your defenses over time would make player progression more prevalent to go along with the increasing influx of teddy bears.

I found myself hunkering down in the same room when playing, and while I'm guessing that was the intended idea, it's a shame I didn't have a reason to explore and see more of the whole house. It might've been cool to give more reasons to move about, like venturing past the safety of your defenses to grab a powerup at the other end of the house.

Kudos once again to the team! Managing and making a game of this caliper is no small feat, especially in 72 hours.

Lab Accident by brusnika 2022-10-09T18:02:23Z

I find this game quite charming in an absurd way. I didn't read the guide, so I was dropped in without much idea what I was supposed to do. It was a gameplay loop of slowly figuring out mechanics and having these aha experiences on how the game behaves. It gave me an experince I haven't had in a long time, where I had no idea how to play the game at first and slowly figured it out, which was very satisfying.

Getting to the shelf with the antidote and managing to get the bad ending by transforming near it made me go "Oh of course!", as it was a very fun twist that I couldn't foresee. Winning and getting to listen to that beautiful song was just as great.

This is exactly what I love about jam games, because they don't necessarily have the responsibility of normal games to be easily understood or user friendly, and so they can just focus on pure creativity. Good work!

Jake Count : Four times to live by Fax 2022-10-11T20:32:05Z

It took me a while to figure out exactly how the abilities worked, like having to hold the jump button to control the jump height inside the ice. While I think naturally finding these things out feels rewarding, it also risks leaving the player stuck.

The art is amazing, and the atmosphere in each place was great and each one was really well distinquished from the others.

As great as the diversity in the different areas was, I do think the 10 second switches felt a little shoehorned in, as there weren't any mechanics tied to them. I think the levels would've worked better as separate ones completed back to back, but I understand wanting to include the theme.

I expected at first that the other games would keep running in the background, so I always placed water guy in front of those bubble spawners, but since the switches sometimes happened mid-jump, it probably was for the best that that wasn't the case, though it would've been a way to make the switches seem more incorporated.

The platforming was difficult enough to not feel trivial, but not to the point of frustration, which was great.

Overall a very enjoyable game. Good work!

Tanker's Nightmare by Skvader_418 2022-10-09T18:36:21Z

Surprisingly fun and enticing. The graphics are nostalgic in a very nice way, they remind me of early flash games.

The enemy bullets could definitely do with a bit more visibility, as I sometimes got hit without noticing, but otherwise everything worked well. I really enjoyed the gameplay loop and the destructible terrain added a lot of fun and strategy.

Being thrown into a different scene every 10 seconds instead of simply changing weapons or something similar was also a great choice, as the last few second were always the most intense, and getting reset always gave a little bit of breathing room.

The online leaderboard was a great addition, and made me try a lot more times than I probably would've otherwise, fueled by the drive to beat others :). Alas I could not.

Overall, the most fun game I've played so far in this jam. Good work!

10s Bar Brawl by Cedric86 2022-10-13T13:39:07Z

The graphics and visual effects were great in my opinion. In jam games especially, unique or weird is much better than boring in my opinion.

The enemies would more often than not get stuck on everything and anything, and the shooting felt a little unsatisfying. Maybe some muzzle flash and screen shake would've helped with that. Having good feedback on a central game mechanic is surprisingly important in making a game engaging.

I did crash the first time playing with the same error message as fabula-rasa, and I also found having to wait 10 seconds to get into the game a little annoying (though maybe there was an engine-side reason for this).

Overall, while the game lacked the depth to make it very replayable, it was nonetheless quite fun and enjoyable for a little bit, and that's already something to be proud of. Good work!

Dragua by Hawkin 2022-10-12T21:17:20Z

Fun and very atmospheric. I really like the artstyle and animations, and the premise is quite an interesting and unique one.

The flames seem a little sparse, as they don't respawn (as far as I experienced), so I never really ended up having a problem with the tendrils, as I kept losing by letting the fire burn out. That combined with the fact that the tendrils didn't really do anything to the player other than block their path, made them more of a nuisance than a looming threat. I can see what you were going for though, and I'm sure if I had gone long enough they would've become more overwhelming.

Some major roguelite vibes with a unique twist gives this a lot of potential to be expanded into a full release. I for one would love to see it. Good work!

NN7 Guardian by Erlioniel 2022-10-10T17:18:43Z

The atmosphere is great, the graphics are polished and the music is bangin'!

The only part where the game fell flat a little was the gameplay loop, which I distilled down to letting the miners do one round of mining, letting the fighters beat the first batch of enemies, preparing for jump, waiting for everyone to get back in, jumping and buying more miners.

The fact that fighter ships didn't accumulate damage between jumps meant that there was never any need to buy more as long as I gtfo'd before the second wave of enemies, and the lack of random variables in enemy spawns meant that the gameplay became repetitive until I decided to buy a bunch of fighters and managed to beat the game.

While this aspect makes it a game I wouldn't complete more than once, everything else about the game works well, and putting in more variety, not just in enemies or their spawns, could make it more replayable.

Preparing for a jump wasn't explained quite well enough, unless I missed that info, so for the first few attempts I kept leaving all of my ships behind, though I got the hang of it eventually. Obvious in hindsight, but you know, assume the player is stupid and all that.

Overall I really enjoyed the game though, and the assets, sounds and polish were definitely beyond the usual game jam grade. Good job!

Room Again by SofiGnedova 2022-10-17T09:42:53Z

Very nice art and atmosphere. The mechanic of being able to carry a single item over to the next loop was very smart and led to interesting puzzles. I really like that you had taken the time to implement interactions with things that had nothing to do with the solution, like being able to break almost anything with the axe.

The sequences were just long enough for 10 seconds, though I did miss a button press a couple of times and ran out of time because of it, which would've been fine if not for the fact that I then had to take the battery again and wait 10 seconds.

Overall a really cool and atmosperic experience, and I only really wished there had been more :)

TenSecBox by Alex Garbus 2022-10-10T16:36:17Z

I got the hang of dodging attacks pretty quickly, but the damage I did with my hits was so negligible compared to the enemy, that I never managed to beat them. It's easy for skill-focused jam games to be too difficult, since the developer is already so used to playing the game when determining balance, whereas a new player has to learn all of that in a couple minutes.

I especially had a hard time distinguishing between the telegraphs of the enemy getting hit or winding up for a punch, since they had pretty similar animations.

I like the idea of the 10 second rounds with some advice or encouragement from the coach in between, but the text was painfully slow and with no apparent way to skip it or at least make it all appear with a button press, it interrupted the gameplay flow a little too much.

Otherwise the game was quite fun, and I really liked the graphics.

Cunny Racing Club by gdesecrate 2022-10-09T17:33:52Z

The graphics, shaders and music create a really nice and unique atmosphere, reminiscent of PS1 games while still finding its own aesthetic. The controls are slow and floaty, which could be considered annoying, but I feel like they fit the aesthetics and character of the game, and I feel like perfectly responsive controls would only work to lessen the game's charm. Same with the camera switches, which are just bizarre enough to fit the package perfectly.

This is exactly the type of game I love seeing/playing in game jams. Good job!

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-17T12:28:13Z

Very fun concept, equally infuriating words. Could have become a little monotonous if I had ever gotten more than a few birds each time :)

I found some comedy from the disconnect between peacefully watching birds and furiously trying to type out their names, which seemed like they were made up to purposefully be the bane of my slow fingers.

The art was really great, and it's clear you played into your strengths with that. While I was going to pick on the music, I then saw you describe it as "A sweet birding bop!", and now I must agree.

LD53 — Delivery

Bloodrush -DELUXE- by Max Amaden 2023-05-02T20:19:41Z

Very cool concept, and really nice game feel! The effects, especially throwing the packages, were definitely the highlight of the game.

As some of the people have mentioned above, the collisions were the most annoying part, especially in tight corridors. The package throwing could've, in my opinion, been streamlined to just holding the right button to enter bullet time, and releasing to throw, which would immediately bring you back to the normal driving mode.

Overall, a very intense, cool, and unique experience. Good work!

Grav Garb by Alchemic 2023-05-05T19:13:46Z

Quite difficult, but an interesting concept nonetheless. An interactive tutorial would've definitely been a nice addition, but I understand that those take a lot of time to develop. I did occasionally feel like there was just a bit too much stuff in the way, which made it almost impossible to push through, so maybe making the trash a little easier to move with just the ship would've helped. Overall it was a very solid, atmospheric and well made entry. Good work!

Cerberus by Veralos 2023-05-14T18:45:59Z

Very interesting concept, and great depth from the risk vs reward mechanic of taking more souls at once. The back and forth between the starting location became a little taxing as I needed to get increasingly further away from it each time, and losing all the current souls from getting hit felt a little too punishing in my opinion, as the hits where sometimes quite difficult to avoid. Besides that, a really interesting and unique take on the theme, and a very enjoyable game in general. Good work!

Volcaninja by Firespike33 2023-05-10T21:15:08Z

What a hidden gem! The movement was super polished and very satisfying, and the grappling hook felt really great to use. The graphics could've used a bit more work to match the impressiveness of the rest of the game, but they at least worked and were perfectly functional.

A really fun experience, if a little frustratingly difficult at times, but with the permanent checkpoints and short levels it never felt punishing, as I'm certain is exactly what you were going for. Good work!

The Time I was Reincarnated as a Delivery Driver in a Video Game and had to ... by AMastryukov 2023-05-04T20:26:32Z

Really cool game! Loved the graphics, the tight streets, the characters, and their responses to the gifts. Having to figure out what package was for whom was also a really cool touch, not very difficult mind you, but it still added another layer to the game.

As something of a racing game player, I would've hoped for a bit more top speed, and a handbrake button for those tight corners, but I'm honestly impressed you got the car controls to feel this good in such a short time in the first place, and the reverse 180s were very easy and satisfying to pull at least.

I was literally 2 seconds away from getting max hearts on all three, which was quite intense. It was a little too much down to chance whether you'd pick up a package for the right person, so being able to drop a package instead of having to deliver it would've been nice.

Overall, it was a really fun experience! Great work, can't wait to see what you'll do next jam!

Dire Delivery by eyedromeda 2023-05-05T14:46:11Z

@bangkerpow Thank you very much for the playthrough! Seeing someone else play my games is always great, and unfortunately also quite rare, so I really appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed the evidently (and somewhat deservingly) controversial twist as well!

All Odium Needs Is Love! by Skvader_418 2023-05-03T21:38:52Z

Interesting concept! I liked the backstory, and the level design was very cool. Getting killed from a single hit and having to start from the beginning was a little discouraging, especially with such a long level, but overall it was a very fun experience with a lot of potential to expand. Good work!

All Odium Needs Is Love! by Skvader_418 2023-05-04T18:50:12Z

@skvader-418 Haha, you and me both! It's real easy to forget that other people don't have the large amount of experience and play time you accrue when developing a game, so balancing is always very difficult. I really enjoyed the game regardless, so it wasn't that big of a problem.

Meat Sweats by Str8griz 2023-05-03T21:56:23Z

Very cool game! The graphics were really nice, although I think the floor had a little too much contrast and made it hard to see. The info dump at the start was a little discouraging, but I totally understand that this concept would be a lot more difficult, and require a lot more work to explain in a more interactive way. It took a little time to understand how I was actually supposed to gather the supplies, but I got it eventually. All in all, it's quite a fun game, good work!

The Silver Fleet by KyleTheCoder 2023-05-01T21:02:11Z

A very fun endless runner! I especially liked how the same input was used to do multiple different interactions depending on the situation. The upgrades between levels were really nice, but not quite tangible enough. I would've loved to continuously upgrade my guy to slowly become a pirate of unspeakable power and a machine of destruction. Good work!

Ferryman Of The Underworld by nicorm 2023-05-03T21:35:58Z

Great art, great music, great atmosphere! It was a bit difficult to tell where the objects' colliders were, but they did seem to be very lenient, which is good. The volume slider, at least in the web version, didn't seem to function at all. Overall it was the really cool and original concept of setting and a great visual whole that set this game apart for me. Good work!

FoodEx by stesim 2023-05-09T21:59:17Z

Very fun and interesting concept! It was a bit difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do at first, but I managed to get it eventually. Maybe some more clear instructions or a tutorial would've helped, but I also understand that stuff like that takes a lot of time, so it's not always possible.

Also, didn't notice this in the jam version of the game, but the post-jam version had an issue where items on the truck bed made the camera collide with them and zoom really far in. Not relevant for my review, as this wasn't the actual jam version, but just wanted to let you know.

Overall, it was a very fun experience with a few sharp edges to round out and polish. Good work!

Space Soba Delivery by zundou 2023-05-01T21:10:56Z

Really nicely done atmosphere and great graphics! The control scheme felt a little strange at first, but I got used to it surprisingly quickly, and after that it became very fun to control the character, maneuver in tight spaces, and fly around. Overall, it's a very cool and unique concept executed nicely. Good Work!

LD57 — Depths

Captain Peggles: That Man's Chest by Sheepolution 2025-04-14T22:05:29Z

Very cool concept! Drawing the map was fun, and deciphering other people's maps was also a good challenge. The graphics are well done, music and sfx are very nice, and the mode selection screen is awesome with the moving characters and voice lines. I'd only hope for some more variation in objects and scenery to keep the game fresh for longer, but I'm sure time was the restricting factor there. Overall, very good work!

Antmine by someone 2025-04-13T21:05:22Z

Very cool concept, and impressive work with the self-made engine. Commanding the units was not too complex, which was nice, although there was a lot of occasional waiting around. The graphics had a certain cool nostalgic feel, but the repeated ground and wall texture was especially a bit too busy (high contrast), making it more difficult to see everything else. Other than that, very good work!

BeltCo Mining Inc. by smilewood 2025-04-13T18:26:40Z

Really cool game, the station and background art were very nice. I do wish the controls were a little snappier, and I would've preferred having no deceleration when not touching the controls. As you already mentioned in one of the replies, the starting fuel amount could've been a bit higher. Alternatively, it might be cool to have some asteroids that give you more fuel when destroyed. Good work!

Break The Tower by torcado 2025-04-11T20:06:53Z

Very interesting concept, and I figure there's more to it, but I had to give up after struggling for 20 minutes to consistenly make it past the first set of blocks. I think the game is somewhat held back by the difficulty. I saw a cave, but there wasn't much to explore there with the upgrades I had at least, and it took a bit too long to get said updates with my skill level being what it is, I guess. Very cool stuff though, I see a lot of effort put in!

Escape From GR0K Tower by paulhocker 2025-04-13T20:45:12Z

Cool concept, though I guess credit for that goes to Grok? Nice work on the graphics, watching the tower get slowly destroyed was quite cool. I think for me the switches and other interactables were a little too small and hard to hit, especially with the shift run being so fast. What I presume were fire traps also didn't seem to damage the player at all. Other than that, good work!

ONLY GO DOWN by jefvel 2025-04-11T20:17:19Z

Very cool concept and really well polished. The character controls took a few attempts to get down, but they were very satisfying once I did. It did feel like you had to do the parries a while before you actually hit something, which meant I mostly found myself spamming it. Maybe a little bit of leniency on being able to parry after hitting the floor/wall could've helped, though that might be complicated to implement. Overall though, really nice little game. Loved the art style, loved the sound effects and the dynamic music. Good work!

Focus Hunt by dhim 2025-04-13T18:40:29Z

Very interesting and novel concept with the depth of field effect. The graphics themselves were somewhat strange but interesting. Not sure why, but my CPU fan revved up every time I tabbed into the game... All in all, nice, unique take on the theme!

Formidable Satisfactory Silkworm by hijomo 2025-04-13T18:46:33Z

Simple but cool concept. The fire graphics were very nice, and it was surprisingly fun watching the dwarves darting around. I do wish the camera was zoomed out a little more, so it'd be easier to locate all the dwarves. Good work!

DESCEND with CAUTION by LightningST 2025-04-13T19:25:13Z

Simple concept executed really well. The lack of in-air movement felt very strange and somewhat frustrating at first, but I slowly got the hang of it, and found it to be a cool, unique part of the challenge. The player destruction is very satisfying, which is a nice and subtle way to ease the pain of dying. Overall, I think the concept is really cool and the game loop very nice and rewarding. With some more environmental props and a lot of polish, this could easily be turned into a proper Steam-worthy little game. Good work!

Typing at Depth by UkuleleFury 2025-04-11T20:52:43Z

Loved the concept, very unique, including moving with space and backspace (which did take me multiple attempts to realize since it was hard to focus on the tutorial while also being thrown into the action). I really liked that everything was made out of text, and clippy was honestly great. Good work!

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-07T09:10:37Z

@munmungames Thanks! And I agree, if I had more time I would've focused on adding more content, like nests, biomes, and more creature types. I'm considering continuing to work on the project to add the features I didn't have time for during the jam.

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-07T10:17:41Z

@sharploaded Thank you! The enemy legs are indeed procedurally animated using inverse kinematics. Collecting the berries is just another goal in the expeditions, they don't actually do anything beyond that. I was meant to add more collectibles to make the expeditions more varied and exploration-based, but I didn't have the time.

@ghettobastler Thank you! I did put a lot of focus into making the main interactions satisfying, since I feel like it can make a big difference in how fun a jam game feels.

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-11T20:59:11Z

@prunus-padis Thanks for the in-depth feedback! I made the enemy hitboxes a bit more than twice the width of the enemy bodies, but I do agree they could've been even a bit bigger, since the legs aren't part of the hitbox.

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-11T21:23:52Z

@ukulelefury Thanks for all the positive feedback, glad you enjoyed it!

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-11T21:30:45Z

@kukatoo Thank you! Some ambient music to set the tone was on the to-do list, but I didn't end up having enough time for it, unfortunately.

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-12T06:47:44Z

@aldenwitt Hmm, very good point. If I keep working on the post-jam version, I'll eventually upload it onto my itch.io page as a separate title, so feel free to follow me there if you wanna keep up to date. I'll have to think about how to address the lack of a dynamic challenge. Thanks for the feedback!

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-12T19:01:01Z

@turbolaser Thanks!

DownThread by eyedromeda 2025-04-14T06:33:55Z

@ali-yagmur @oxnh Thank you! I have been thinking about adding more biomes with different enemies to the post-jam version, but upgrades between runs is a really good idea. That would definitely give more of a reason to keep playing.

@defrag Very good work! Although I don't think you got quite far down enough to see the fourth (and last) enemy type, which starts spawning at 650. I also haven't kept track of my own PB, but it's somewhere a little past 1000. And if you want a sillier challenge, I've made it to 330 once without doing anything.

@paulhocker Thanks for playing it!

Stealing the Captain's Family Jewels by Str8griz 2025-04-11T21:28:41Z

Cool concept! The intro cutscene/story was a very nice addition with well-made art to accompany it, but it did, for me at least, drag on a bit too long for a jam game. The movement acceleration was also a little too slow/unresponsive for my liking, but I guess that's just how it is underwater :b Overall, really nice atmosphere and awesome graphics, good work!

Helldriver 2 by oxnh 2025-04-13T19:14:14Z

Interesting concept. Graphics were very cool, but the background art being so busy did make it a little more difficult to see the obstacles. I liked the detail of the pizza box shield hugging the car for the most part, instead of just moving in a circle. Good work!

Pogo Dwarf by NTMalichi 2025-04-13T19:36:48Z

Cool concept, but very difficult (which is not necessarily a bad thing if you're looking for a challenge). I would've preferred a more precise way to control the character's rotation, especially since a lot of the jumps required a very specific angle, which was hard to get consistently. Maybe having the character tilt controlled by the mouse instead, or something similar to Pogostuck, where the A and D keys rotate the player at a fixed speed and the player otherwise stays at the given angle. Other than that, very impressive work, especially with the length and variety of the level!

You Are the End by AgrMayank 2025-04-11T21:09:31Z

Cool concept and interesting system with the multiple runs and roguelite-style upgrades. The game did feel a little slow (spawning the units one by one for example) and there wasn't quite enough audiovisual feedback in things like fighting (sounds, particle effects, animations, etc.) to make it satisfying, but for the time limit this was very very impressive, especially in terms of all the mechanics you were able to add. I also loved all the flavor text and the prophecy. Good work!

Delivery for Mr. Lucy by TurboLaser 2025-04-11T20:43:09Z

Love seeing a 3D jam game, and beautiful work on the aesthetics and ambiance! A very nice, short concept that could definitely be expanded into a longer story-based horror or survival game. I did notice that some of the red light in the elecvator disappeared in a strange way when the flashlight was on, and at least for me it took a bit to realize I had to press the (missing) help button, but otherwise I had no issues. Good work!

Inner Beasts by jscommander 2025-04-13T19:00:00Z

Very interesting concept and a unique spin on the theme. The different enemies representing different negative emotions was a nice touch. I would've preferred for the movement to be a little faster, especially when climbing the blue stuff. The hand drawn style art was also very nice, and made the environment look very fittingly strange and imperfect, like an embodiment of an actual subcosnscious mind. Good work!

Cave Escape by Flinge 2025-04-13T20:10:43Z

Very cool Doodle Jump spinoff. Simple but fun, and the cover art is really awesome. Good work!

The Trench by atsh 2025-04-13T20:54:33Z

Cool concept with a side of education. Not much gameplay beyond just going downward, but it was a nice change of pace from many of the other games. The graphics were really well done, and the sonar effect was super cool, though the sound got a little annoying. I was going to call it a very nice, cool, and calm game, until I got to the ending. Very fun surprise twist there. Good work!

Fred's Fishing Frenzy by Phasmantic 2025-04-11T20:31:38Z

Very cool game! Funny character animation, and solid work on the rhythm game style reeling. I do maybe wish the game loop for throwing in the hook and catching a fish was a bit faster, especially watching the hook go down, but otherwise the game was very fun. The "fish stock market" was an interesting addition :b
