I think the game is really cool and relaxing. It's nice to just drive around and try to collect things in the car.

jimmybobb 2023-05-02 05:38

Well done on completing your first Jam! The car controls are simple and responsive which makes it a pleasure to drive around and deliver food. Well done!

obe-dot 2023-05-02 18:46

Nice trailer!

agushmar 2023-05-02 18:53

me encanta! es excelente

xenobey 2023-05-02 18:53

Nice and simple graphics but the concept was quite fun and the experience didn't feel as stressful as I thought it would. The car controller feels satisfying - something we had our own problems with aswell in our Jam Game^^ Only recovering from unintended bumps into walls felt quite tedious but I think this is something that can easily be polished.

Overall a nice experience and a good idea, good job!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-02 21:56

Thank you all for your nice comments! It's so good to hear that you like our game!

aivaxela 2023-05-04 00:52

very nice driving mechanics!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 00:55

Thank you, @aivaxela. BTW: It is a feature and not a bug that the food is not crushed by the car - it is frozen food

maimai 2023-05-04 01:59

Great job! Took me three tries to realize that it's a physics game and I had to actually carry the food in my truck to each delivery zone. Even so, I enjoyed just driving around. I absolultely love the body roll when turning, and the recovery back on the wheels was really good and consistent! :open_mouth: Actually, the whole game felt really consistent for a physics game, so really well done!

zeit 2023-05-04 02:14

I love this car engine!

aile 2023-05-04 08:02

Such a fun game! Clear instructions, the bankruptcy comes rather quickly lol. Loved the customers waiting in row, made it feel more immersed rather than just loading/unloading the foods. Good job!! :)

stesim 2023-05-04 12:00

Thanks everyone for the nice feedback. We had too much fun doing the whole physics-based delivery of items and did not have enough time to polish the income/spending mechanics. At least of few of our remaining ideas will likely be implemented in a post-jam version though.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 17:37

@maimai Thanks a lot. We did not plan to make it a physics game in the beginning - but just driving around did not feel so motivating and funny. Introducing the physics really made it then for us.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 17:39

@aile Thanks a lot and it is really nice that you noticed the aspect of the customers. We wanted to actually extend the whole idea of satisfying the customers and delivering the right food - but there was not enough time to really improve the serious game aspect so we concentrated on the funny part in the end.

beebster-games 2023-05-04 18:06

The graphics are great, the music was super, but the controls are way to sensitive. Add friction, and a brake so it is easier to load and unload.

svenerik 2023-05-04 18:10

I wish there was more traffic and that the people weren't stronger than my car haha, but otherwise a really neat experience and one that could be expanded on a lot! The music loop is a bit off, but works really well. I quite liked the low-poly style of graphics too, though a bit less of that most used gray would be nice addon. Good work tho!

matid90 2023-05-04 18:13

I had a lot of fun trying to fit as much food as possible into different vehicles. Surprisingly, the game didn't crash even when I filled the truck fully with burgers.Driving physics were very satisfying. I also liked food sounds.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 18:22

@matid90 Haha, very cool, thanks for trying out the limits of the game engine and I am glad that it worked. And really nice to read that you have a lot of fun - actually that was also our main thing to do when testing the game: fill up the vehicles

mihrea 2023-05-04 18:35

I couldn't stop playing, that's how much I like it! Good job!!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 18:38

@mihrea Wow, thanks, love to hear this.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 18:54

@beebster-games Thanks for your feedback and nice to hear that you like our style. Actually, there is a brake (SPACE bar) but we did not mention it because we thought that breaking with arrow down/s is good enough.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 18:57

@svenerik Thank you  Actually, we had big plans, including traffic and also considered that it is possible to run over or push away the customers. But time ran out and we sticked with undestroyable customers (actually because they automatically block themselves and line up at the diner  )

paul-avallone 2023-05-04 23:44

I liked the simple graphics and driving the truck actually felt really good. The customers can collide with the truck they started to shove me into a wall. I might have been better to turn off collision on them. If you expand the game it would be cool to add ragdoll and other game features. Great job!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-04 23:56

@paul-avallone Thanks for your feedback. Hungry customers are angry, so beware of them  Na, actually, we thought about allowing to run over them but there was not enough time.

arsher 2023-05-05 00:46

The camera angle is very strange, I just can't stop feeling disoriented when driving. And it gets even lower while car moving. Thus it's making this game really hard to play for me.

russ-moonbase 2023-05-05 04:54

I love a truck game! I laughed out loud when I just started launching food into the back of my truck. I also want to say the sounds of the car were nice and really sounded good when I sped up or skidded.

I think the turn radius was a little too much on the car and I wanted to go super fast but too many buildings were in the way.

Overall, it was a pretty nice effort and I look forward to trying any car games you make in the future.

follett12 2023-05-05 08:22

Loved this, for whatever reason it reminded me of Simpsons Hit and Run. The feeling when you completely spam full your truck with the constant icecreams "Mhmm" and then having half the load fly out is unmatched. Actually made me laugh. The long queues of guys waiting on hotdogs and soda was hilarious to me. I really think you should polish this up and release it as its really fun and challenging. I think you nailed the controls of driving the truck.

francoisgoret 2023-05-05 10:32

It was fun to drift around the city to deliver food. A very pleasant control of the car and fun physic with the foods all around the store when it fall off your car.

kerdelos 2023-05-05 10:39

It's was a bit hard to pick up with an azerty keyboard but once I had the correct mapping it was fun ! Small suggestions and remarks : * I found the camera angle to be very low behind the car and a bit uncomfortable. Especially for when I had to judge if I was below the cash drops. * Although I understand the challenge in driving around while avoiding to drop burgers and ice creams, I found it a bit frustrating to find the perfect angle when I was gathering supplies. Even more so when i failed to drop my precious cash inside the trunk of the car. Overall, driving around and delevring tons of food was fun ! It's a nice entry, congrats :)

stesim 2023-05-05 11:03

@arsher Thank you for your feedback. It's unfortunate you couldn't properly enjoy the game due to the camera angle. Having multiple camera positions to switch through was actually the next feature on the to-do list when we ran out of time. :slight_frown:

kattalord 2023-05-05 11:07

Had a lot of fun playing it. It gets really hard to pick up food after a while tho when you have thrown around too much and the ground is littered with it xD I would found it useful to have some sort of camera controls, be it free camera rotation around your vehicle or additional angles like from the side mirrors perspective. Would have made reversing a lot easier xD

stesim 2023-05-05 11:12

@russ-moonbase @follett12 @kerdelos Thank you for the encouraging and constructive feedback. It's great to hear that people are having fun with the game despite it's shortcomings. We will consider building upon the game and integrating your suggestions and our remaining ideas.

kgurniak91 2023-05-05 12:10

I don't understand how to play. I tried getting various foods and delivering them to the queues of people, tried clicking "E" near them but nothing happens. I also don't understand why I lose 10$ every couple seconds.

stesim 2023-05-05 12:10

@kattalord Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the game. The littered food is supposed to add to the charm and challenge, but it certainly can get frustrating, so we have considered adding a street sweeper vehicle that can remove items on the ground. Camera controls were also planned, but did not make it in time, unfortunately.

stesim 2023-05-05 12:17

@kgurniak91 You use the same buttons for both pick-up and delivery (numbers 1-4). You can use them when in the highlighted zones. 'E' is for picking up or delivering earned cash. The 10$ you lose every 10 seconds are supposed to represent rent, as it was an easy way to add a lose condition.

yoddaa 2023-05-05 13:22

@mar-zockmeister @stesim very enjoyable game . very good job. had to guess where the food will land than delivered it and had to collect the cash. real life hehe...

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-05 13:35

@yoddaa Thanks for your nice feedback. Yeaa, targeting your pickup with the food was also one of the most fun things during testing. That's why we rejected the idea to make the food cost money.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-05 13:37

@francoisgoret Thank you for your comment  During testing we also thought that the most fun part is not so much the real goal (delivering food and making money) but just driving around.

geck0 2023-05-05 14:17

Very addictive game, nice work :)

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-05 15:38

@geck0 Thanks for playing and liking it

slightly-ajar 2023-05-05 17:44

The controls were really nice to use. It did take a little bit to figure out how to transport the food to the customers. Overall nice concept!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-05 18:26

@slightly-ajar Thanks a lot and good to here that the controls are fine

robowarrior1982 2023-05-05 22:18

So fuuunnnnyyyy !!!!! foodexe.png

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-05 22:28

@robowarrior1982 You definitely play it the right way  Thanks for the screenshot  BTW: We planned to include a street sweeper for such case - unfortunately not enough time. So maybe in a later version.

emaigualmc2-art 2023-05-06 02:41

Great job! The driving and car mechanics feel very good, as I see in the comments they did not manage to implement everything and it is normal in such a short time. I would like to see it more polished for more fun jaja! Congratulations! xD

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-06 02:48

@emaigualmc2-art Thanks for your feedback. Yeaah, we definitely want to extend the game. We had so many additional ideas.

random-ideation-studios 2023-05-06 07:11

I can see that you focus clearly on the gameplay which made the game very good!! Audio and graphics are top notch!!!

Good submission!!!!!

ponygirlluna 2023-05-06 07:25

First things first: driving around with a truck bed stacked full of $100 bills that are actually only worth maybe a $100 total was extremely funny to me. I looked so rich and I was actually barely breaking even. :P

I was also highly amused when I first pushed the buttons to load my car with food and it just launched it clear over the top and into the road. On that alone, I really enjoyed the game.

A couple of the minor critiques I had were the camera angle and losing cash just to the physics, but it looks like you've addressed both of those in the post-jam version, so that's all I'll mention of them.

It did seem like the time it took to drive between just a couple locations was enough to stack up customers that I just didn't really need to venture out, but I did anyway just to see the area. Or perhaps I just wasn't buying enough food!

I'm also quite impressed with the driving mechanics—I've played a number of games this jam involving driving and this one has felt like one of the best!

almaz 2023-05-06 08:20

A very interesting concept. I liked the gameplay. Simple, fast and fun! The game really helps to relax and unwind

pacha 2023-05-06 09:47

Really well done !! The driving is really smooth and satisfying, and graphics are on point !

I truly love the idea of the food being launched in your car so you have to park right, that was genuinely funny and surprised me in a good way ! Keep up the good work <3

vizitas 2023-05-06 18:15

Nice graphics, I was a bit confused how to do the deliveries.

fupi 2023-05-06 20:39

This is *wild*!! Really tempting to put your computer's resources to the test.

Sem título.png

Super fun! Feels like more of a sandbox than a game with a rigid objective, even though you can lose, I found it quite difficult to do so. x) The city is a bit empty but I like that there were small secrets like the ability to control different trucks. The car handling mechanics are really good and intuitive, maybe I would have just liked some way to see better what was behind me, like a button to change the camera to a front view or a top-down view. Either way, this is one of those games where you can spend hours just playing around

frozenfire92 2023-05-06 23:51

What a silly entry, I quite enjoyed this. It was kind of hard at first to fill the truck but once you got the hang of it, smooth sailing. For some reason I really wanted to go off a jump and see how much food remained in :joy: Keep on making games!

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-07 02:27

@random-ideation-studios Thanks for your nice comment. Actually, we shifted the focus a bit. We first started with the selling and bringing deliveries to the right diner aspect. But that wasn't so much fun. We started really liking our game when we introduced the physical supplies and the transportation of them.

@ponygirlluna Thanks so much for positive feedback and that you like the driving mechanics. And it is also really cool to hear that you also like the aspects we had fun with when testing it. There is definitely room for improvement and we also realized that we hadn't enough time to make a real game with a long term playing goal out of it. So this is more like funny teaser.

@almaz Thanks a lot, I think this is really a nice compliment to hear that our game helps relaxing.

@pacha Thanks, it's so cool to hear that the things we had most fun with during testing is also love by you people here. @vizitas Thanks for your comment - and yes, I can totally see that it is not so clear. We tried to integrate a little tutorial in the short time left. So basically, you fill up your truck at the store and then drive into the green areas at the four different diners. There you press the some buttons for delivering and the food will appear on the front of the diner so that you can see how much supplies they have. Hope that helps.

@fupi Oh, thank so much, so cool. Even we did not bring it to this extreme during our tests. Totally love your screenshot and your feedback. Camera was really one of things on top of our list aroun 1-2 hours before the deadline and we then head to the trailer video, menu etc. In the post-jam version, you can already switch an move the camera freely. So, if you are feeling again that you want to make a burger mess, maybe check out our post-jam version

@frozenfire92 Thanks a lot for your kind feedback  In the post-jam version, you can freely control the camera with the mouse to better check the remainings.

vizitas 2023-05-07 11:21

@mar-zockmeister Thank you for clarification, its so obvious in hindsight :D

francis 2023-05-07 17:42

I think you guys made the right call shifting the focus to the physical supplies. I thought in the beginning that the funds were used to purchase supplies, but when I found out that I could just spam buy items and stack up my truck, it was really fun driving over while things were spilling out the back and then clearing out the crowd with all the ingredients.

I do have some suggestions: - Improve the discoverability of the mechanics of the game. I didn't realize that there were multiple shops and different cars until I read the comments and went back to explore more. I was so focused on the funds going down and trying to make deliveries in the beginning that I didn't think to explore. After I got the shop stacked up on deliveries, I thought I had basically won, but then funds decreased at a faster rate than I could earn, and I thought it was just how the game was. I didn't think there was a second shop. I also love the idea of having differently shaped containers for the food. - Rather than the funds depleting over time, I wonder if it would be interesting to spend the funds on food. Maybe the numbers could be balanced in a way where you're still able to spam buying food, but I think it'd be interesting to encourage efficient transportation of goods. - I think it'd be helpful if there was an indicator of where the food will be thrown to / where the cash will be dropped. And maybe the food dropped on the ground should have a maximum lifetime before despawning to avoid cluttering the ground and getting in the way of making deliveries.

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-07 18:58

Hey @francis, thanks for the nice feedback. You definitely made some useful suggestions. We thought about similar things but decided then to stick with the more funny and less controllable part due to lack of time. But for a "real" game that you can player longer times, this must be definitely a little bit more controllable. We actually discussed that the food should cost money but as you said, we wanted to keep the spamming in for the fun part. We also thought about, e.g., that food falling down near customers results in grabbing them the food from the street instead of paying it. There should be also a reason why you should bring food to the far away diners, e.g., higher prices or more customers, somthing like that.

vilmantas 2023-05-08 16:39

The driving feels very good. I really enjoyed the fact that the car moves around whenever you turn. Also adding physics into the delivery system is a really funny idea.

dreamerflow 2023-05-08 20:39

Very fun, I enjoy it!, I think something is going on with the funds, I deliver things and get going to negative numbers, the mechanics and truck movement are great, I little stretch streets, cool job, I like it a lot

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-08 22:58

@vilmantas Thanks for the nice feedback - it is nice to hear that you like the physics aspect.

@dreamerflow Thanks a lot! Yea, we should had communicated it better that you have to pay a rent of 10$ every 10 seconds. The idea is to force the player to sell stuff. This is not really a good solution but it was the one we could implement fast when time was running out. That is also the reason why we do not stop the game or emphasize it too much when go to minus.

anthony-katona 2023-05-09 00:17

nice UI and general playability especially for 3D! I do wish I had a hint of how loud those dings would be when I was deciding the volume but not many jam submissions offer any control at all

diego-escalante 2023-05-09 08:15

The dings are a little too loud, harsh, and high pitched. And it's a little difficult to know where I am supposed to go. But those are minor complaints. I really like the uniqueness of this game and how you leaned into the ridiculousness of it. I _love_ that the food items are physical world items that you catch on your vehicle and that it can all get flung everywhere. That's pretty funny. Great job on this entry! Awesome work!

2023-05-09 08:18

Challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 53 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. https://youtu.be/wY-Lotk5KuU

stesim 2023-05-09 11:03

@anthony-katona @diego-escalante Thank you both for the feedback. I do agree that the ding sound is a bit harsh and probably too loud. We will change it to something smoother. It's also a good point that you don't know what the actual volume will be when adjusting the settings. We can add some kind of sound sample in the menu at some point.

This being our first jam, we probably didn't quite get our priorities straight and ran out of time before being able to clean up what we had. We are very grateful for honest and constructive feedback so we can do better next time.

stesim 2023-05-09 11:13

@jupiter-hadley Thank you for giving our game a try. Too bad the experience was so short, as the instructions weren't clear enough to convey the objective and mechanics. We will try to improve that part in the future.

oleksunder 2023-05-09 12:30

Haha, really fun and relaxing game, I liked the mechanics of loading food :D

mar-zockmeister 2023-05-09 21:57

@anthony-katona @diego-escalante Thanks for the feedback regarding the sound, this helps us a lot to improve the game. And good to hear, that you like our game nevertheless. So, thanks so much for the nice comment

@jupiter-hadley Thanks a lot for showing our game in your video!

@oleksunder Thank you for your nice comment!

eyedromeda 2023-05-09 21:59

Very fun and interesting concept! It was a bit difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do at first, but I managed to get it eventually. Maybe some more clear instructions or a tutorial would've helped, but I also understand that stuff like that takes a lot of time, so it's not always possible.

Also, didn't notice this in the jam version of the game, but the post-jam version had an issue where items on the truck bed made the camera collide with them and zoom really far in. Not relevant for my review, as this wasn't the actual jam version, but just wanted to let you know.

Overall, it was a very fun experience with a few sharp edges to round out and polish. Good work!

stesim 2023-05-10 11:44

@eyedromeda Thank you for the constructive feedback. The tutorial/instructions aspect is definitely something we need to improve.

Also thanks for the feedback regarding the post-jam version. Apparently I screwed up and didn't test the camera collision feature enough.

__EDIT:__ Camera issue of post-jam version should be fixed now.

raptor851 2023-05-17 12:17

pretty hard to line yourself up to catch the food and money, and the food never disappears so food on the ground quickly makes it impossible to get back to your store, but cool concept, wish the store was farther away so you could do it more crazy-taxi like.

tennotako 2023-05-18 16:33

Very fun gameplay. Driving is really satisfying, congratz :)
