LD44 — Your life is currency

JUNO by DeathBySnail 2019-05-01T01:15:07Z

Solid controls, simple yet effective graphics, and the music is pretty good as well! My only qualm is that when accelerating, the camera eventually pans past the player character, and I can no longer see my ship. Other than that, great work!

Bloody Runner by DidiGameBoy 2019-04-30T19:06:25Z

Simple but really effective game! Easy to pick up, and hard to put down-- I really like the aesthetics as well! One suggestion I have is to maybe have the character's hitbox be a bit smaller, since there were a lot of instances where I ended up grabbing 3-5 different objects without being able to dodge them. Other than that, great job! game.png

Computers in a Nutshell by gonutz 2019-04-30T02:49:57Z

I feel dumb right now, I cannot seem to get past the very start of the game (although I know this is part of the game). I tried adding --decrypt-log to the end of the file name, but that doesn't seem to work. :S Really like the premise so far though!

Computers in a Nutshell by gonutz 2019-05-02T16:56:25Z

@gonutz I managed to get past the initial part-- now I'm stuck with a ton of log files, hahaha.

Devil Slots by CarlosPidox 2019-05-01T05:11:29Z

The gameplay was pretty addicting, I found -- especially after getting upgrades! Although I didn't find that the difficulty had much of a ramp throughout each wave. By the time I got to the last wave, I don't think I got hit very much at all. The gambling system actually felt balanced, since you only had to gamble a certain amount OR if your life is <50%. I think this would be a really fun rogue-like game if you decide to continue! :)

Somnambulist by LancesCaterpie 2019-04-30T18:49:17Z

Amazing game-- I'm actually disappointed that this doesn't have more ratings!!! Everything was so polished, from the execution of the theme + narrative, the art, music, and especially the controls and gameplay. At first, I found the game to be quite difficult, but after getting used to placing down different memories in mid-air and quickly toggling back to normal, it became extremely addictive. The movement reminds me of Celeste, and although it is fast-paced, it felt smooth to play! Great work!

Microtransaction Mages by Jeremy Ryan 2019-04-30T07:53:11Z

Really well-made game; the pixel art was amazing, the music was great, the execution and concept of the cycle of working to make money to play a game was spot-on! Great work.

One More Year by EvoGenGames 2019-04-30T09:01:35Z

Gotta say, props on using Excel VBA to make a game! Brings me back memories of my old job, hahaha!

A Deal with the Devil by OmnipotentIndie 2019-04-30T02:01:21Z

Great game! Gave me vibes from Nuclear Throne / Gungeon -- completely forgot about upgrading and dashing, until the end of the game. :[

invertebrae by jjjjason 2019-04-29T04:09:57Z

Great interactive fiction, and really creative! I like the concept of being able to go back into the past and changing / seeing different events based on the words you collect throughout. This would be a really great project to continue on, by adding even more branches to the narrative!

Nexcidium by keanutah 2019-04-29T21:44:59Z

Great vertical shooter! I think if you include the option to move forward/backward, while ramping up the difficulty, it'd be a really good bullet hell game! Interesting use of the theme, and charming pixel art.

bloodsucker. by whycardboard 2019-05-01T01:23:39Z

Fun game! I really liked the detailed art (especially on the real estate), the music was fitting, and the game represented the theme effectively. I don't think the difficulty was too harsh, but I do feel like the enemies' movements can be quite unpredictable. Overall, great work!

World Class Track Meat by Dan Thompson 2019-05-01T07:55:57Z

Hilarious concept, with fitting music as well! You definitely nailed the humour compartment of this game!

Bloodletter by shp 2019-05-01T17:57:01Z

One of the best compo entries I have ever played so far-- addicting gameplay, smooth movement, and satisfying gunplay! I love the slow-motion mechanic, and I feel like this feature is what makes the game so fun to play. Fantastic game.

American Healthcare by Abraxas Interactive 2019-04-30T02:31:43Z

Really creative gameplay concept! Takes space invaders to a whole other level. Being able to control the direction of your bullet along with your ship really amped up the satisfying feel of the gameplay.

Let's make really bad life decisions... by FanManPro 2019-04-30T03:57:15Z

Really creative take on the theme! I also loved the art you did for the various coins. One bug I often came across was clipping into the ground when I fell from a high distance and not being able to jump because of it. I ended up having to restart the entire game when this happened. I think it might have to do with how the collision is set up, but other than that, really great work! :)

Contract Cleric by Vinay Rao 2019-05-01T01:33:52Z

Great concept, and pretty well executed! Definitely depicted the RPG genre successfully, at least as a healer! I feel like there was also many opportunities to add elements of humour. The difficulty also felt like it gradually increased throughout the game. Overall, fantastic work!

Rock, Paper Scissors: After (School) Hours Edition by SpliceDev 2019-04-30T02:21:58Z

At first, I found the controls to be really hard to remember, but then once I started associating the controls to the OPPOSITE of what was being shown on the screen (eg: Z = Beat Scissors, X = Beat Rock, C = Beat Paper), it started becoming super addictive. Great work! rps.png

The Devil's Coins by Kevin Liu 2019-04-30T01:32:30Z

@attala @matt-pattabhi @b3agz @memel06 @kristinnes Thanks for the feedback! In retrospect, the controls do feel a bit convoluted, should have done some play-testing throughout the development. :(

EDIT: Added a WEBGL option!

The Devil's Coins by Kevin Liu 2019-04-30T09:26:12Z

@wizzardmaker OMG I should have thought about the Y/Z swap, since I actually own a German typewriter! I really should have had space bar be the jump button. Thanks for finding the game-breaking event of blocking the hole with a gold bar! Thanks for playing!

The Devil's Coins by Kevin Liu 2019-05-01T09:20:13Z

@banzi Thanks for playing! You can press "C" to use 1 point of health, and it'll spawn a golden bar for you to jump on to reach higher platforms!

Pay Me in Blood by casperj 2019-04-29T17:46:00Z

Really fun puzzle game, and quite clever! With some more levels, I feel like this could be a really great mobile game.

KNIFE=LIFE by QuadApe 2019-04-29T02:25:02Z

Strangely addicting game -- the mid-air shooting mechanic is really satisfying!

KNIFE=LIFE by QuadApe 2019-04-29T02:54:22Z

@tim-allen Not sure if you figured it out, but it should be left mouse button to shoot! :)

Blood Mage: Human Sacrifice by tdg_ 2019-04-29T04:47:25Z

Interesting concept, and the cards were actually quite well drawn! I feel like it'd be a really great battle system for a bigger turn-based strategy game project in the future.
