Great comedy and concept! Well done!

attala 2019-04-29 05:48

I liked it. The key combinations are a bit fiddly. Would prefer not to have to aim with one key and shoot with another, but maybe that is a matter of taste on game mechanics.

b3agz 2019-04-29 05:53

Not a huge fan of the control scheme but it's a minor gripe for a game made in 48 hours. Nice art style, funny premise. Good game.

memel06 2019-04-29 09:52

It's a little woobly at controls concept.

The premise was funny, yet sometimes I struggled to proper aim/shoot The idea is clever, polish is ok for a compo entry.

improve your product in a post-jam version, you'll become better!

Thanks for your work

kristinnes 2019-04-29 22:06

I liked the gameplay, it was a nice touch to have to aim before you shoot. The graphics, while rough, fit nicely.

kevin-liu 2019-04-30 01:32

@attala @matt-pattabhi @b3agz @memel06 @kristinnes Thanks for the feedback! In retrospect, the controls do feel a bit convoluted, should have done some play-testing throughout the development. :(

kevin-liu 2019-04-30 01:32

EDIT: Added a WEBGL option!

schsam 2019-04-30 04:27

I really liked it overall! Loved the puzzles (especially the one where you put down a block and then shoot the guy through the tunnel). The music was fantastic. I wasn't crazy about the controls (kept pressing the wrong button). Also the aiming didn't seem to really serve a purpose. I thought compared with the rest of the puzzles, the "boss" where you have to deposit 20 coins was a little tedious but i may have just found an exploit.

Amazing amount done in 48hrs!

rsim 2019-04-30 05:25

Great game - I won! I really liked the platforming mechanics, and the level mechanics. The shooting was pretty annoying with having to hold shift for no apparent reason?

justuspan 2019-04-30 05:32

I like the aiming feel. Cool!

jani-nykanen 2019-04-30 06:40

The player and enemy sprites look a little out of place, but other than that, the visual style is fantastic. Music also fits the game well. Platforming felt a little clunky, though.

quagga 2019-04-30 07:09

Aiming is great ) Cool art and sound :-)

pseudobytes 2019-04-30 08:17

The game was a little easy, even with the horrible controls. But a actually really love the gameplay itself, the idea is really cool and the game integrates with this idea really nicely.

wizzardmaker 2019-04-30 09:16

Nice concept, but the control scheme was a bit "wonky". I use an european keyboard layout, which means my Y and Z are swapped. Maybe go for "Space" next time to jump. A level reset would be nice as well, as I kinda screwed myself with the little shooting hole. I placed a gold block inside that hole.

Had fun!

kevin-liu 2019-04-30 09:26

@wizzardmaker OMG I should have thought about the Y/Z swap, since I actually own a German typewriter! I really should have had space bar be the jump button. Thanks for finding the game-breaking event of blocking the hole with a gold bar! Thanks for playing!

incd021 2019-04-30 10:00

Vert nicely done :) Controls wasn't easy to get a hang of.. Liked the graphics and the music :)

eyedromeda 2019-04-30 13:07

Nice idea and a well done execution. Definitely an interesting control scheme, as many have pointed out, but I actually enjoyed having to use something else than wasd and the mouse for once. Nice job overall.

abraxas-interactive 2019-04-30 22:58

Well done! It took me a second to figure out how to shoot but that's because I'm an idiot and didn't read the instructions. Once I figured that out it was a lot of fun, dropping gold bars all over the place like the devilishly handsome man I am.

banzi 2019-05-01 08:33

Nice one. I enjoyed the mechanics (aiming ..) and the artsyle/music. I shoot everything on the ground, but I was unable to make the jump to higher platforms .. not sure if I did something wrong. Good job!

kevin-liu 2019-05-01 09:20

@banzi Thanks for playing! You can press "C" to use 1 point of health, and it'll spawn a golden bar for you to jump on to reach higher platforms!

xsoodx 2019-05-01 10:01

Very nice game. Love the look and feel of it. Great job!

skoggy 2019-05-01 10:56

Kind of like the way it looks. Controls were kind of awkward though. Good job!

vinay-rao 2019-05-01 15:49

This makes for a pretty good puzzle platform game. The art is good, and the storyboard intro and ending is cool. I find the aim and shoot mechanic is fine, though I probably would rebind the keys to my own taste. Shift + X felt a bit clunky to me. The moving platforms were also a bit tricky to jump off of when they were going down, but that's not too much of an issue given that the main mechanic is to use gold bars to gain extra height.

I loved that you managed to work a boss battle in at the end. I spent a good amount of time on the left side of the room shooting it before I realized I could walk through him. It went a long way to making this feel like a complete experience. It's nice when LD games manage to work in a beginning, middle and end to their games.

Good stuff! Good job!

cheesepencil 2019-05-02 22:32

I put a gold bar on the button but the door didn't stay open... and by then I had run out of coins so I couldn't poop any more bricks!

Fun twist on the theme tho

lmb 2019-05-02 23:46

I saw no real reason for having to aim before shooting. As others said, it felt cumbersome. Otherwise, very nice for a compo entry! The graphics are nice on their own way and those story screens in the beginning and end (yeah, I finished it!) worked really well. The level design is also cool, several little nice touches. There are some glitches here and there (like a brick failing to keep a the button pressed), but, again, very nice for a compo entry! Kudos!

yahub 2019-05-09 13:41

Awesome game for compo. It was challenging and it have great mani mechanic.

gonutz 2019-05-14 19:33

Pressing Bail Out will just keep the music playing and I cannot do anything but reload the page. I wanted to look at the controls again.

Why in the world does everybody and their mother put some action on the Z key? European keyboards rarely have Z in the bottom-left corner. Jump should classically be put on SPACE usually. Or put it on UP which is pretty sure to be right above the other arrow keys. Of course you could always make a controls menu or even easier - bind multiple keys by default so the user can choose one.

Why is there a key to aim? Am I missing something here? I can only ever shoot straight ahead, right? Just put it on X without needing to hold Shift?

The graphics are really cool, I like your sense for aesthetics. The hellish red background and the sparse use of colors make for a nice look and feel. One minor issue is that the enemies blink red when hit, thus in front of the red background they seem to disappear. At first I was thinking I shot one and another one spawned but then I realized I needed three shots to kill one and they just blink red.

The audio fits the rest of the game really well. Do I hear a little SFXR for the sound effects there? :-)

The puzzles were nice, you put many different things in there in such a short time framge, that is really impressive. The only thing that I don't like are jumping puzzles in general. I think they are considered bad practice for a reason these days. Still in your game they are OK, not too many and you do not get too bad a punishment if you mess them up.

The 20 coin monster was really awesome, great job on this cool boss battle!

Overall a really cool entry, thanks and keep up the great work!
