LD38 — A Small World

Polyorbis by Matthew Albrecht 2017-05-02T21:41:22Z

Is a highscore of 99 okay or terrible? I don't have any comparison :D Anyway, I really enjoy the low-poly art and especially the soundtrack! The gameplay takes some time to get used to, as I got really fast and couldn't identify the enemies, but technically i think it's really good! Also the usage of an own engine is fantastic, I didn't expect that.

Overall I think this is a very fun game! Good work!

Doodles by Lazzor 2017-05-02T20:38:13Z

Thanks! Yeah, jumping really is pretty buggy but I just wanted to make it work somehow and come back later, after I worked on the other stuff. Sadly I worked quite slowly and time ran out, which is also the reason for the small number of levels. I had more level ideas but as i wanted to finish in time, i wasn't able to get them in the game.

To be honest I couldn't really think of any audio that would match the style of the game and even if, I guess it would have been of a pretty poor quality. So I decided to leave it out pretty early. Maybe next time I can make some sounds/music!

Anyway, thanks for your feedback!

Antnator by sachos345 2017-05-02T22:05:13Z

Nice game! The gameplay feels right, everything works as you would think. It's also really challenging. I like it!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Pro Cycling Simulator 91 by baylej 2017-08-01T22:37:29Z

Nice game, I didn't really get what the bananas or boosters do and if I need them but I won so I guess I did something right!

Get to the Bunkah by jonathan-turner 2017-08-01T22:43:00Z

Nice game, I just wasn't good enough for the mini game with the wires. The bike and the pump game were good though! Maybe a little more feedback for the user, how well he is doing, would be helpful. But overall, good job!

Windup by kleinzach 2017-07-31T23:32:59Z

Wow, that was great, I loved it! The gameplay works well (I played with a controller) and the graphics and sounds really fit the game. On top of that the levels are well designed and are not too easy! Great job!

Island trouble by PiotrJ 2017-07-31T23:08:27Z

Nice game, I liked it and I won, haha! For some reason I couldn't demolish buildings or conveyor belts but the rest worked fine without that!

Demonic Powers by gilborn 2017-08-01T22:50:06Z

Cool, fun game. I like the different approach of running out of demonic powers! Nice visuals and sounds too, overall a well working game!

Power Runners by Steel_Dev 2017-08-02T20:57:28Z

Hey, I just got to this because of gamesplusjames stream! Nice work especially on the visuals, I really liked the Lighting and this screen effect, don't know how it's called. :D Anyway, great game!

Power Sphere by Sergey Nelga 2017-07-31T23:58:20Z

Good job with the visuals. The gameplay was a bit unclear to me at first, regarding what I have to do, but after I understood I managed to take down some evil cubes. Maybe you can make the player movement a bit faster, as you pretty much die instantly, when you approch some cubes. But overall, a nice game!

Don't Get Fired! by Lazzor 2017-08-01T00:28:17Z

@LuckyFeathers: Thanks! I actually wanted to add some background music but the song in the radio was the only thing I managed to create musically that didn't sound completely awful, so I guess I have to get better at that until next time.

@zulubo: That's certainly the easiest way to do it. The challenge was supposed to be to discover the buttons functions, remembering them while finding a solution to the puzzle and all of that under time pressure. But the rotating seems to be too easy, you're right. Thanks for the feedback!

Das Riverboot by Sputnik3D 2017-08-01T00:18:34Z

This was fun and challenging at the same time. Trying to throw the fishes and junk into the boat wasn't that easy and it took me some time to understand the controls, but it was a fun time as those fishes look really funny! Great job!

Empire Building by Mac Dragoness 2017-07-31T23:17:36Z

Hi, I really liked your game. Especially the graphics was nice. I seemed to have a bug at the end, where a click on "Okay" (after I got mayor) doesn't do anything. Some sound effects would have been cool, too. But other that that, great work!

Back Home by Simone 2017-08-01T23:04:04Z

Cool game, for me it felt like in the second level there were too many enemies though. But the graphics and the sounds were really nice, good job!

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-08-01T00:44:09Z

Nice puzzle game, the visual style is cool as well! I like it!

Legend of Sunflower by johnnydalvi 2017-07-31T23:48:26Z

Good work, I really liked the game. The visuals were nice and the music fit the game well. Level 6 was a pain in the ass but helped me to understand the game and only level 9 made me understand those buttons and gates! All in all, a very fun game!

Solar Power Rush by TheMonax 2017-08-01T00:58:42Z

This is really nice! Great visuals and audio and the game completely stays true to it's style. I love the changes in music, when your ship gets better. Good job!

Paper Plane Simulator 2007 by PolyWolf 2017-08-01T00:04:20Z

Got a little over 100 meters, that's fine I guess :D Nice game!

Jam Simulator by vizitas 2017-08-01T22:57:02Z

Nice work, that was a really cool idea and the game works well! Great that everything interactive has a visual and an audio component! I really enjoyed your game though I fell asleep and failed the jam! :D

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Special Delivery by Max Amaden 2017-12-13T21:09:33Z

Wow, these graphics are great and the audio as well! I also really liked the gameplay, although I wasn't able to complete a game I think. Every time I got some good cash I died shortly after, so I never reached a finish or something similar. Anyway, great job!

Ominos by differentname 2017-12-13T21:38:47Z

Well this got a lot harder, a lot faster than I thought. Those new blocks killed me, haha! I like the nice and simple design though, so good job!

300 days of winter by superchihuahua 2017-12-07T23:50:29Z

Hey, this is a really cool idea and it works perfectly! I only think 300 days is a bit too much, as the time passes relatively slowly. Also some christmas music (or other) would've been awesome but as this is a compo entry I can understand the struggle with sound... Anyway, nice game! :D

Shopping Spree by Devastus 2017-12-08T00:31:14Z

This is awesome, the idea is great and the implementation is even better! The battle for items is really fun and the level design and sounds are really nice! The only criticism I have is that the controls can be a bit tricky sometimes (for example if you are going against a wall) and that you can't see yourself if you are pushed to the near edge of the level, where the wall blocks your view. But that doesn't change that this is awesome!

BetArena by BathPirate 2017-12-07T19:38:50Z

Good job on the graphics and sound, I really like the minimalistic and futuristic style. Props also for making this really hard (as far as I can tell from my experience at least). The only little problem I found was, that there was no way of quitting the game other than Alt+F4, but that is negligible :D

Cursed Gold by ryusui 2017-12-08T00:00:42Z

Good job on this game! The graphics and sound effects work well to create a nice retro rogue-like. I like it!

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-14T00:07:07Z

Why even play this game, when you can just look at the mass collisions in the respawn screen? :D

This just works so well. The gameplay is simple and accessible, while the graphics and audio just fit nicely! Great job!

Operator by Viperfish9 2017-12-13T23:55:15Z

Great game with a concept that kind of reminds me of my own last game (for Ludum Dare 39), but your game makes about everything better! Some nice calming music, challenging gameplay with a bit of a survival aspect to it as well and the humor doesn't come short either. I really like it, nice job!

Professional Dog Walking by ACiertz 2017-12-13T23:45:39Z

Dude, these sounds are awesome!! The game is fun to play, too. Good job!

Deckest Dungeon by huminaboz 2017-12-08T00:15:00Z

Now this is a polished game! There's not even anything I could point out that was done better than the rest. Everything about this is awesome, really nicely done guys!

BufferMAN: Hack 80's style! by Akryllax 2017-12-07T20:00:06Z

This is awesome! To me, this feels like Portal or Antichamber, mostly because of the gameplay/looks but also because of the humor. The graphics and effects are nice, especially the "unfreeze" effect with the matching sound! Great job!

ArenaBots by Lazzor 2017-12-04T02:00:40Z

2:59 local time (compo ends at 3:00), no time for screenshots, I have to publish this :D

Edit: Oh seems like I still have an hour... :D

ArenaBots by Lazzor 2017-12-08T00:52:57Z

@Prostone Wow sorry, I guess I was too tired to notice then. Thanks, I'll upload the source now!

ArenaBots by Lazzor 2017-12-14T21:03:14Z

Flipping upside down without a reason should not happen, however flipping upside down because an enemy pushed you can happen. And well, if you happen to be flipped you should not be able to drive anymore but thanks to my poor movement programming skills you still can... :D

I already fixed some of the above mentioned flaws but only on my local build. Maybe after the competition is over, I'll add a link to a newer version.

Raccoons 3D by DRDivider 2017-12-07T19:49:22Z

Hey guys, good job! I like the Doom-like style and gameplay. Also good job on the graphics! Sadly you didn't have that much time for the other gameplay and design aspects, as I think the game would have been even better.

Greedy Robot Fight by rodel77 2017-12-07T20:13:36Z

Nice job, the graphics and music match the style of the game. It only seems to me, that you automatically win if you shoot first, as the enemy robot didn't try to hide. Nonetheless a funny game!

Don't Drink Drive Simulator 2018 by dbowler92 2017-12-07T19:33:25Z

Good job guys, this is a really fun game. The shader effects are awesome as well as your way of showing the highscore on the signs. It could be a bit more challenging though as I think you could drive quite some time before really struggling to avoid stuff. Anyway, nice work!

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-13T21:31:26Z

Nice, this was fun. Thanks to me, 40 people can enjoy some fresh milk! :D There were just too many little cows in the end. Good job on this game guys!

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-26T11:27:00Z

@tempii I played on the easy difficulty since I wanted to understand the gameplay first. But I'll play another round on hard then even though I guess my score will be lot lower! :)

Pub Crawler by GiraffeCat 2017-12-07T19:09:11Z

Hit ALL the cars! I had much fun, the only things I'd wish for were sound effects for the cars/people and the player screaming "OUCH!" :D

Solaris by Villfuk02 2017-12-07T19:16:32Z

Wow, this is really cool. I like the minimalistic graphics and the soundtrack just fits the game very well! Good job! I just wasn't able to beat your highscore... How did you get 182?? :D

LOCOPLAYA by goxua 2017-12-07T20:07:31Z

Wow, this is great! The graphics, sounds and animations all fit perfectly and the gameplay works as well! I'll definitely keep this around for some multiplayer action!

For The Tribe by Michael Gor 2017-12-07T23:40:52Z

Cool game, it's a nice little challenge to discover all of the achievements. The music also fits the style, i'd just wish for some more sound effects :D

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Secret Floors by Quetzakol 2021-04-29T20:02:13Z

A solid 5/5 for me. Great game and humor!

The Cave by incobalt 2021-05-01T13:49:14Z

Great idea to let the player give the game a personal touch by naming the torches. Even better in combination with the conclusion! Though i have to admit, at some point naming each torch was starting to get on my nerves :P Nice work nonetheless!

Dice Explorer by Solah 2021-05-02T11:50:37Z

Great job! I love the double mechanic for the tiles, as you can either place them to get away from the orks, or use them to fight. At first I didn't really get the dice mechanic though. I thought i could roll them myself, to get a better path tile, instead of them being auto-rolled each turn.

Deep Miners by dimaswift 2021-04-29T19:36:50Z

Great work, this game feels super polished. Clean, even animated UI, nice visuals, customizable gameplay, subtle audio. Your game just has it all!

Pressure by smt 2021-05-01T14:50:32Z

The gameplay feels great, even though I needed some time to get used to the bullet trajectory. I really like the combo aspect and messages for longshots. Some spawns seem a little unfair though. Spawning in a level with 7 enemies right next to you doesn't feel motivating when you are just trrying to orientate yourself first. Nonetheless, great, clean looking entry!

Ole Gonna Goalscore! by scott.redrup 2021-05-02T11:22:34Z

Nice one! For me, you nailed the difficulty. I felt like I won the Champions League myself as I scored the winning goal after Bayern Grey defended a never ending series of corners by our team!

One bug I noticed was, sometimes when you kept pressing A or D when avoiding the defenders and one got to you, the direction was locked in in the next attempt. So the player automatically went in the direction without me pressing the key.

Mineshaft by ditam 2021-05-01T13:58:55Z

Nice game and especially great UI with the animations! One bug I encountered was when playing against AI I could always click on the "End Turn" button, even on the AI move. Spamming the button then led to the next 50 moves being autoplayed back and forth. Nonetheless, great job!

Deep digger by phoenix-gi 2021-05-09T14:11:11Z

Hey, nice game you got there! Even more impressive to have a game in your own engine, so good job on that part! The game works as expected and I like the different materials and gems. Some improvements I'd like would be if the gems would fall down when you destroy the block beneath them and some kind of visual clue how much points each gem awards you. Nonetheless, good job!

Depthplosion by HPA97 2021-04-29T19:01:55Z

I think the explosions could have been made more dramatic by adding some particle effects. Also, at least for me, the bombs always came straight down. Shooting them at an angle would have allowed them to roll, which would motivate the player to move more I think.

Apart from that I really enjoyed the game, so nice job nonetheless! :P

Wormhole Adventurer by Lakea 2021-04-29T20:19:24Z

Nice game, everything works as expected for me. The combat aspect could be redesigned though as it is not very clear, if shooting fast does exrta damage or maybe you have to charge the shot.

Tato - Potato by Noel Widmer 2021-04-29T19:14:58Z

Not gonna lie, this is kind of addicting! :D I love how the game mechanics of watering the potato, going deeper into the potato and resetting your length give a bit of strategic depth. Great job! tato_score.png

Darkness in the clouds by Seskon 2021-04-29T19:30:18Z

Alright, first things first - the athmosphere created by the world design in combination with the music and the story feels great. So good job on the immersion part. Also, the game has a polished feel, with the change in perspective between controlling the cloud ship and the player character. Except for the somewhat fiddly jumping, i really love your game! PS, Grüße aus Kiel ;D

Deep Space Janitor by kristof 2021-04-29T18:47:19Z

I like it. It might be a bit too easy but everything works as you'd expect and for some reason I got some Among US vibes from doing the chores. Nice work!

A Fairway Down! by Haydads 2021-04-29T20:37:53Z

I love how you integrated the tutorial area into the main menu! The game feels complete, as in, gives you all the information you need, behaves like you would expect and is a great experience all around. Great work!

Am I only dreaming? by DerGamer 2021-05-01T14:35:27Z

Hey, first of all, nice job! I really enjoyed your game! Some things I noticed: - Making the jump (and jump pad) sounds more subtle could have improved the more melancholic athmosphere - Having a "Retry" option for each level would have helped, as you can get stuck (e.g. in the level with the stair made of crates)

Run little one, run by Para_no_ 2021-05-02T11:56:46Z

Damn these mouse traps! I thought I am his favorite rat, why is he trying to kill me? :D Nice job though, the controls felt a little weird at first but you get used to very quickly!

The Last Place by sebirit 2021-05-02T11:38:48Z

Alright, I love the minimalistic design and the athmosphere created by it in combination with the music and ambient sounds! So really great job on the design part.

Some more indicators on how to progress would have helped though. In my first playthrough, I went right to the backside of the tower, where nothing happened. So then I wandered to the rest of the first level, thinking this was the entire game. After re-checking with your screenshots I saw a door which I havent seen myself, so in my second playthrough I waited in front of the tower to see a door open. Nice, I made it to the second part! Here, I felt really disoriented, as everything was black at first and I only saw the lights that spawned next to me. I think it was only by luck that I was able to get out of the tower :P

Anyway, as I said earlier, great entry! :)

Treasure Hunter by Scrawach 2021-05-02T12:08:33Z

Wow, I can only join the others in saying that you did an incredible job! Nice visuals, an interactive environment, funny dialogs, great animations, sound, your game just has it all. I'd say this is impressive for a jam entry but for compo... Nothing else to say than great work!

More Bass! by Substr 2021-04-29T18:53:18Z

Nice! Super fun way to make the twin-stick shooter interesting. Also, great sound design and super creative interpretation of the theme!

LD49 — Unstable

The Battle Alchemist by cirno 2021-10-10T15:27:39Z

Very clever idea! Once you get the hang of how the potion works, this is a super fun puzzle game. I guess the game is lacking a bit on the presentation side as it feels pretty barebone but that's to be expected in a gamejam. Especially since the gameplay feels very polished. Great job overall!

A Day In The Office by NemoStein 2021-10-06T20:33:35Z

I really like your idea of bringing the theme into the game! Also, the style seems to go in a nice direction with clean UI and responsive, animated interactions with the objects! So even though it is still unfinished I think you are on a good track of making a cool game!

Nimrod's Folly by ErikU 2021-10-06T21:03:55Z

Great idea and great execution! I struggled with the controls at first but after that, if you know what's going on and you can start experimenting, the game is really fun! I especially like the symmetry idea, which allows to create super nice looking buildings without compromising the detail.

I stopped at 100m height to experiment a bit with the other blocks which didn't seem too fitting when you just want to reach the best highscore. That's why the fact that these pieces are even in the game is just awesome!

ld49_screen1.png

Als Fazit kann ich daher nur sagen: Super Spiel mit toller Grafik und ich bin sehr positiv überrascht! :flag_de:

Nature vs. Demons by Lazzor 2021-10-09T17:29:02Z

@slimmerburger @mr-danh @kurrik @dangerbleistift @snubbishshrub @baconharemthug @cody-creed @majadroid

First of all, thanks for all of your helpful feedback! The ambition of the project is something we always think about during development but unfortunately we are very undecisive about which parts we should leave out, as everything sounds cool at first. And then we are stuck having/wanting to implement it, which leaves us with a bunch of stuff that kind of works but not much polishing. But hey, that way there's always room for improvement the next time! :P

@majadroid I completely agree with you. The systems could have been easily scoped down in order to add more polishing and audio. That might be, because I always go into game jams, thinking audio would be a nice to have if there's still time in the end. But there's never time in the end so next time we'll try to add audio right from the start of the project! :)

Bunker Maze by Majadroid 2021-10-09T19:27:48Z

Hey there, great game from start to end! Everything works as expected, there are multiple mechanics and multiple levels with increasing complexity. I won't point out a single thing that I like the most about your game as I think having a complete game "experience" (visuals, animations, audio, ...) is the best you can achieve in a gamejam. So as I already said, great job! :)

Rocky Rhodes and the Cracked Case by Brainloaf Studio 2021-10-10T15:49:03Z

Great stuff all around! Superb visuals and voice acting! I would've loved a conclusion of the case other than "You win" though. A better explanation for the artifact, you know? But that's a minor detail compared to the whole thing, so fantastic job from all of you!

A 6h rush to produce anything by Masaru 2021-10-06T19:52:52Z

First of all, props for even attempting to make a game in 6 hours! Also, your game is definitely winnable, with the win condition being that there are no enemies left! :P

ld49_screen.png

My strategy is a bit cheesy, but putting two green tiles in two corners (e.g. the bottom ones) and then putting a blue tile in between, you can keep the blue tile alive long enough that the red middle tile dies. Just put either a green corner on one of the greens and then attacking the blue one or the other way around. Blue tile on blue attacking a green one.

So good job on making a nice little game and giving us the challenge to figure it out! :D

Edit: I accidently put a green tile over the blue middle one in the last turn, that's why the bottom middle tile is also green

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-09T18:56:07Z

By far the best game I've played during this gamejam, absolutely well done! Once you figure out the in-air controls your game is pure fun, at least for me. It offers a constantly increasing challenge but with working mechanics and feedback that feel like the outcome of a level is always in my hands. Great stuff, really nice work!

Edit: By the way, you seem to really undervalue your level design. I think they are really creative and fun!

Howard by benjamin nielsen 2021-10-09T17:41:59Z

As some of the previous commenters already pointed out, the strength of your game definitely lies in the audio and mood department. The villagers sounds are just plain adorable! :D

Regarding the gameplay, I think a display of villagers (alive/drowned) would have helped to get an overall grasp of the situation. Also it felt a bit random at times because it was not always clear for me if and how I could still "rescue" a drowned villager. But I suppose that's also kind of the premise of the game so that's fine!

Overall I really liked it, good job!

How (Not) To Defuse Bombs by Reiqy 2021-10-06T21:54:49Z

This feels really complete, which for me is almost the biggest compliment! Graphics, UI, audio and the humorous texts all work together nicely, so great job overall! It's a shame there aren't any more levels, I would have gladly played them!

Block it neon by fachscahfttf 2021-10-09T17:55:25Z

"A limit of 72 hours was a bit tight for adding a 4th - dimension to a 3D game, so we added a 3rd one for a retro game." Nice line just at the beginning of the description! :D

Now for the game, the style and the audio work really well, just like the gameplay. The only thing a bit confusing was rotating the pieces the way you want them to be rotated. But that's a minor thing, considering that it technically works. The highscore was 290, then I wanted to see what happens when you try to break your structure. Turns out you even have nice effects (visuals and sound) fot that.

So in conclusion, you did a really great job!

Stabler by Cinar 2021-10-06T20:02:17Z

Wow! Great idea, great artstyle and great work overall! If I had to criticise something, it would be that you can get stuck on the side of walls and shelves which prevent you from falling and therefore taking out enemies. But to be honest, this is such a minor detail that it doesn't even matter in my opinion.

All I can say is: great job!

Biodiversity For Beginners by Mr_DanH 2021-10-09T18:30:07Z

Wow, this game looks really polished! The graphics and gameplay work smoothly together with the only major thing missing being audio.

The biggest issue I have with the gameplay is that for me, I found it very hard to find out what I actually have to do. E.g. Which animal eats what? How do I complete a delivery? I figured these things out after some time but some more gameplay hints would be nice. Also maybe leave the delivery boats stable, as sometimes the boats are blocked by the mountain or the clouds and you don't see the delivery.

But as I said, I didn't expect this level of polish in a gamejam, so despite my minor issues you did a fantastic job!

Stoned! by Its_Capp 2021-10-06T21:35:22Z

Hi, I think you made a nice, clean-looking! There are two things I would change above all else though: 1. Maybe it's just me but I think the 'G' button is not the right choice for the action button, that you have to reach quickly. Changing this to a mouse button for example would mean that I can fully concentrate on maneuvering the block and don't have to worry about reaching the button from the movement controls. 2. The jumping doesn't feel quite right, especially since the levels require fast jumps after landing on a stone block.

Otherwise you did a great job! :)

Unstable Economy by DaylonWilkins 2021-10-06T20:25:24Z

Hey there! I think you did a really good job at making a clean-looking, working game without any major bugs (at least for me), so that alone is great. Also, having a working simulation of an economy with corresponding gameplay is not an easy feat, so big props for that!

Now the part I think you could improve the most is displaying the information. Managing an entire economy requires a good overview of all available information and it's not that it's not in the game, but most of it is hidden in menus and submenus. This makes it hard to keep track of what's going on and if you even have to change anything. Some UI elements over the buildings/cars would have been awesome to see what's going on with the people and the jobs. But that's just wishful thinking!

Last but not least, I might be playing wrong but the economy might be too stable. As far as I can tell, none of my workers have quit yet and I didn't really do much for it.

But nevertheless, great job at making an awesome game in such a short amount of time! :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Floor Is Lava by Nick Rafalski 2022-04-11T17:57:30Z

Damn I am bad at these stacking games :D But nonetheless I like it. Nice touch to the main menu for making the text fit into the 3D scene. Also, I really like your scene transition!

Coffee Run by jelch 2022-04-12T22:13:55Z

I could hustle 546 before i fell asleep! That's probably pretty bad. Luckily your game isn't! :D I've had my fun with it and especially like the day/night switch, which came as a surprise at first. Also, great cutscenes in between the levels! Are the levels randomly generated or are there just a number of pre-made layouts? Nonetheless, nice job!

Sunset by PTSnoop 2022-04-13T13:14:47Z

Wow, your game looks and feels great! Some modest sound effects for the ball collisions or the paddle controls and this would be perfect in my opinion. Fantastic job! :)

Inevitable Garden Infestation by patwork 2022-04-13T11:44:12Z

Really nice work! The controls don't feel as responsive, as sometimes you don't quite why you didn't hit a particular rabbit but that's just polishing. Also, as you already mentioned yourself, some music and/or sound effects would have been nice but that's something I regularly miss as well. So all in all, good job!

The Heist by chuckeles 2022-04-12T18:53:15Z

Nice game, I'd just wish for a soundtrack fitting the action on the streets at night! :P I didn't really figure out how you gain money so I just tried to keep as much of it as I could. But nonetheless, really enjoyable, especially when battling the police!

Isn't-Land by Villfuk02 2022-04-11T17:53:05Z

Okay, first off, nice idea and good execution. There really is a lot of game here.

But the amount of information to process right from the start is pretty overwhelming. One way to make it easier for someone learning the mechanics (of which there are a lot!) could be the option to pause the game. Or maybe introduce some systems at certain stages of the game.

But as I said, I like it. The graphics are consistent and definitely serve their purpose!

The Inevitable Snowman by LaneDavis 2022-04-12T22:04:11Z

Definitely one of the most complete games I've ever played in a Ludum Dare. Great job to the whole team! I would maybe limit the deaths as you can just "swim" your way from platform to platform to collect the snow but other than that, absolutely fantastic!

Last of the Sky Folk by Ian Kettlewell 2022-04-13T12:52:09Z

Hey, nice game and props for making it in your own engine! The grappling hook works well, but at some point I had trouble with orientation, not really knowing if I'm still going up or down :D The movement was really slow for me, which is why I almost exclusively moved with the grappling hook.

The Great Horde by LCStark 2022-04-12T16:53:36Z

Wow, great job! The gameplay works well and what is especially impressive, it is super easy to understand! Also you stay consistent in your visual style and the sounds don't get boring immediately. So, very well done!

Earth Watcher by Friend_Pirozhok 2022-04-12T22:40:00Z

In terms of graphics and sounds, this is fantastic! It really sets the mood. I think the gameplay could be refined a bit but nonetheless, great entry!

Life of a Floof by MachWerx 2022-04-12T16:39:43Z

Great job, the music really supports the strange/mysterious athmosphere! Also I really like the continuous storytelling! The only minor issue I had was that I didn't feel like I could do much myself, especially in the later stages. But at that point I was captured by the floofs presence anyway :D

Desktop by eyedromeda 2022-04-13T15:54:09Z

Hey, your game feels really nice! The visuals and the sound set the mood quite well! A bit more to do would be nice, but I guess that's the catch, that I don't really have something to do, I just don't want to go for a run :D

ThatsLife by maxi1324 2022-04-12T16:10:18Z

Hi there, nice game, I enjoyed playing it, especially your sounds are nice!

Mostly it just lacks polish in a number of spots. There are overlapping UI elements (1440p monitor), sometimes it's hard to keep the car in a straight line (probably because we're driving on a sphere) and after dying, you have to exit with Alt+F4 (at least Escape didn't do anything).

But as I said, these are not major issues, so good job!

ThatsLife by maxi1324 2022-04-12T18:42:08Z

Hi @maxi1324

Yeah, there is a replay button, which definitely works fine if you want to replay the game. But there is no exit button in case you want to exit the game :P But again, that is totally okay. In my previous entries I also forgot that a couple of times or simply didn't have enough time. For me it's just all a part of the fun and learning experience of this event! :)

The VortExperience by Hawkin 2022-04-12T22:30:54Z

Great experience and great voice acting! :D I would have liked the portal to be pixel art as well, to keep the visual style consistent but that's only a minor issue. You definitely nailed the "science experiment in a video game" athmosphere, so great job!

Un-Rooted by Denhette 2022-04-11T17:43:38Z

Great humour and great fun all around. If I weren't distracted by reading all the jokes I maybe could have gotten further than 143 seconds. But I guess that's not too bad considering I probably watered the game plant more than my house plants... Guess I should do that some time :D

Low Tide by Knipsch 2022-04-12T19:09:08Z

Okay, from start to finish, this is great! Fantastic job all around, from the graphics, sound and gameplay, everything feels complete and responsive! The only minor inconvenience for me would be the camera positioning when you are at the edge of the pool, which makes it a bit hard to see. But other that that, great job!

AstroPhysical by Arihan10 2022-04-12T16:23:29Z

Great compo entry in my opinion. The graphics are nice, the gameplay works and feels responsive, there are sound effects for pretty much everything important! Really great job!

SferePhall by auxiliarymoose 2022-04-12T16:32:25Z

Great job all around! Gameplay, graphics and sound work together nicely and the style keeps coherent and minimalistic! Also, nice touch in the main menu, for the buttons to wiggle with the music :D

Spilling Cups by Mensio 2022-04-12T19:03:56Z

Hey, I love the minimalistic style throughout your whole game! Once you figure out the controls, they also work nicely and responsive!

I managed to crash the game a couple of times though, when i misclicked and tried to make a connection from an empty cup to the space around it. I guess when water starts flowing into that cup it then looks for an outlet at the connection but finds none, resulting in the crash.

But anyway, great entry! :)

Stop the Train by oldcezar 2022-04-13T11:37:15Z

Hey, I really like the idea and also most of the game itself! However I think some of the dialogues are too long for the amount of time you have. It obviously adds to the stress level but as a person who likes dialogues in games, I would much rather have the time or possibility to enjoy them as well :D

SAUCE by Woodpecker233 2022-04-13T12:26:29Z

Nice idea, although you could add a bit more feedback. Maybe some sound effects or some gameplay elements, that throw the sauce back down when you hit them on your way up. But nonetheless, I've had fun, so good job! :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Weirdo Words by SimplePotential 2022-10-04T10:25:31Z

Nice! Fun and relaxing and the game also feels very polished to me. Also cool to see you already have future plans for this game so I'll definitely check it out again!

The Void by Linus Lindberg 2022-10-04T10:44:59Z

Nice graphics and gameplay! For the most part it works perfectly, only sometimes you seem to get stuck around corners. Also is it intentional that the spirits can pass through the rocks? A little bit of sound would have also helped to further improve the feeling and athmosphere of the game. Nonetheless, great compo entry!

Parcel Problems. by Jacob Diaz 2022-10-04T10:07:35Z

Nice work! Once you get the hang of the controls and the flow of the game it's a lot of fun! Maybe i was just missing it but I didn't seem to find an option to close the game other that good old alt+f4. Great job on the graphics and general athmosphere (ambient sounds!) though!

MAZE 51 by Lazzor 2022-10-04T10:49:50Z

Thanks all for your feedback so far! :)

@tokithekiwi Yeah, we'll try to replace the embedded version as soon as the editor let's us. So far we've had no luck.

@brandon1037 Try to stay in the safe zones, that should do the trick! They should definitely be in reach with the current player speed :)

MAZE 51 by Lazzor 2022-10-04T11:13:38Z

@jhax @simplepotential Thanks for the kind words! :)

Keyboard navigation in the menus is something we thought of but it was far down on the priority list, so unfortunately we didn't have the time. But in case we continue developing the game, that will definitely be included!

The Zero Countdown by kromeboy 2022-10-04T10:17:29Z

Hi there! Cool game, I really like the animations on the jet! Nice touch with the online leaderboard, even though I certainly won't remain on my number 10 spot for long! :D

Needy Pixel Kitties by Aaron Smith 2022-10-04T10:35:02Z

Best Tutorial Ever. Period.

On a side note, the game is also really fun, especially with the sounds and the occasional golden cat! Nice job!

Short-Lived Survival by SoshJam 2022-10-04T11:10:32Z

This is definitely one that I'll remember. Really great job! The gameplay feels good, the mechanics are super easy to understand and the graphics and sound create an athmosphere fitting the game description! Also I think the world flipping animation is super cool!

LD55 — Summoning

The Game With Forced Financial Competitions Featuring Wizards and Demons by tater-hater 2024-04-16T22:20:26Z

Well, that was a wild ride I guess :D Even though the single elements like audio, graphics or gameplay might not be the absolute best, I still think they fit together nicely, making for a coherent piece. I agree that the gameplay is a bit slidey but for me that was fine. What got me more were the wall pieces that stuck out of the wall, making me crash once or twice.

Let's Cook Enough by aviktorov 2024-04-17T14:58:01Z

Hey, I like you game idea and most of the execution as well! :D Interacting with the different objects felt responsive and the graphics are nice! I think the combination step in between picking up the "raw" demon and feeding the resulting ingredient to the screen needs a bit more thought though. While I like the mechanics of it, currently there is no way to know for the player that the demons have to be cooked in the portals. That can only be found out by experimenting. Now that might be your desired gameplay behaviour and that's totally fine but I think a little help for the player would greatly enhance getting into the game. But nonetheless, great job! :)

Summon Inc. by laulau 2024-04-17T15:36:58Z

Oh nice! I have not even played Papers Please yet, but this instantly reminded me of what I think Papers Please is :D The atmosphere is great, everything feels a little worn down and gritty and the demons themselves are nicely designed. The only thing that i didn't like were the demons taking so long to leave my desk but that of course is only a minor inconvenience. Overall, great job!

A Particularly Slow Broom Summoning by tykenn 2024-04-16T22:52:54Z

Once you get the hang of the controls I think it controls rather nicely :D Sadly there is little content, because I enjoyed the content that is there!

Dwarven Escape by zKlau 2024-04-17T15:23:14Z

Nice game, though i first had to familiarize myself with the controls. I agree with @kuggenhoffen that it is not very clear that you have to mine all of the rocks. I thought i just had to get to the bottom as fast as i can, primarily in a straight line. But i liked the overall responsiveness and feel of the game!

Necrocraft by Moonblast 2024-04-17T11:02:09Z

Great job, your game feels really polished and is overall very enjoyable to play! A smooth experience from start to finish. The only thing I struggled with for a bit was understanding the cost and how i got more mana but that's only because my eyes were drawn to the bottom of the screen to watch the battles.

Ghost in the Filesystem by Theyflower 2024-04-16T22:44:49Z

Great out-of-the-box-thinking! This is exactly why I love game jams - seeing you guys come up with all sorts of cool game ideas, that i wouldn't even think of. And on top of that, the puzzles are nicely hidden in the general storyline and integrate really well! Fantastic job!

Eulerian Demons by ghettobastler 2024-04-17T14:19:56Z

VERY creative game concept and really nicely executed. Everything feels responsive and as a player you get instant feedback as to what works and what doesn't work. Great job!

Summoning Bridges by mertol 2024-04-17T15:49:26Z

This is fantastic! Such a simple concept but it works really well. I especially like the translation from drawing on a 2d surface to summoning the bridges in 3d. Also, the clean and minimalistic interface just fits perfectly. Great job!

Fill the Void by PotatoFinch 2024-04-17T14:28:17Z

While the graphics are not that great to be honest, the audio, atmosphere and overall feel really make the game! Also, nice use of different text effects at the start. Even though it was just text, it made the intro feel a lot more dynamic.

Into the Oven by limerish 2024-04-17T10:47:58Z

I agree with @bigbossman in that it can be quite hard to understand what to do at first. The idea that I should place the pizzas on the black spots was pretty clear but since 1. the black spots don't show an indicator to interact when you go near them and 2. you also have a mechanic to drop things (right mouse button), I struggled for quite a while to understand I have to interact with the black spots using "E" even when there is no indicator for it.

For me, this is a thing of expectations when learning a new game. Since most of the spots I can interact with with "E" have a clear indication that they are interactable (by having a message next to them), I as a player expect that every interactable component is marked as such in some way. Since the black pizza spots are not marked, it is at least not obvious at first, that you have to interact with them.

But other than that, I like your combination of different concepts and gameplay! Also it's cool that you managed to add music and sound effects. Those are things that unfortunately always have the lowest priority in my own games, so it's nice that you found the time to make the game feel complete with audio! Overall, nicely done! :)

Cadence Crisis - Ludum Dare 55 by AllDee 2024-04-17T14:44:13Z

Wow, I'm bad at rhythm games :D But yours is fun nonetheless! The graphics are nice all around and the sound as well!

I think it would be an improvement, if the message wouldn't just say "Press P to start next round" but instead what the player will actually do in the next round. E.g. "Press P to start jamming", "Press P to place turrets" and "Press P to defend against the enemies". I imagine that could help understand the game loop in the first playthrough and what you are supposed to do. Also, the turret spots could be highlighted in some way. I walked to the portals first in search of a place to put my turret and only then realized that there were designated places for them.

But, as I said, great job from all of you! :)

LD57 — Depths

Wobble Down by MartenJ 2025-05-04T21:02:45Z

Nice one! Simple and with a great cozy vibe to it. All elements fit nicely together, the graphics, sound and UI which just makes this a really relaxing experience. :)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Quest for Gold by Mordokay 2018-04-24T19:17:07Z

Wow, this is a really interesting idea plus it's really well done! The visual style, music and gameplay are fitting nicely! Good job on a great game!

FAST CRASH by tweedle 2018-04-27T20:43:30Z

Now this was a great experience! Everything, from the introduction and gameplay to the visuals and sound works perfectly! I would have liked to see the correct answer, when I guessed wrong but maybe that was also intentional to have a greater replayability. But anyway, nice job guys!

BEAT KILLER by Dragojt 2018-04-27T21:20:58Z

Nice game guys, I enjoyed it even when I suck at it! :D These rhythm-games just aren't for me, but that's just personal preference and skill. I think the visuals and the sounds are well done and gameplay-wise it also works. So good job!

Scrolls by 100th_Coin 2018-04-24T18:19:01Z

The idea is great and it works so well, picking up items, fighting enemies and accepting and completing quests while always being in motion. The visuals are nice too and altogether form a fitting style as well as the music and sounds. The only critical thing would be, as @ryzy27 already said, that there is no hit feedback, but I can look over that seeing how good the rest of the game is! Nice job!

Fluff Piece by PUR3 2018-04-24T18:27:43Z

Hey, I think the foundation you have here is great, for me everything worked well gameplay-wise. It just seems as if you ran short on time and couldn't get more content to the otherwise good game. Anyways, I had fun playing your game, so nice job! :)

SocceRPG by Lazzor 2018-04-24T17:48:25Z

Thanks you're right, it gave me a warning too. I uploaded it to dropbox, which will hopefully solve the problem and lets people download the game! :)

Wild Cards by Adtberp 2018-04-27T21:05:00Z

Hey, this is a pretty impressive job for a first 3D game, especially since you also have animations! I really enjoyed it! I think some things could be improved, for example I did'nt really know what the hunger was doing. Can't you play cards if you have -50 or less hunger? Also it would be nice if the cards would show their effect (like +20 wood, --10 hunger, -10 stamina).

Other than that though, I think you made a really nice game, so nice job guys!

From the Breach by erebus 2018-04-27T20:31:40Z

Nice job guys, I really enjoyed your game! The visuals look good and there is some audio for almost anything too!

The only things I think could be improved are the fact that you can drive/bug over walls (don't know if that's intentional though), which can sometimes be frustrating, and the turn radius of your car. I feel like either the turn radius is too big or the streets/ramps are too narrow, given that you have to drive from place to place really fast.

But other than that I think you made a fantastic game!

Reverse by MrJake7X 2018-04-27T21:39:03Z

Hey guys, I love the style of your game! I just didn't find a use for the ice guy, as anything in the first level could be solved by fire and i couldn't unlock more levels. The controls feel a bit off as well, but nothing too big, seems like there's just a bit of polishing needed. All in all I really enjoyed your game, so keep up the good work!

Hell's Kitchen by Milo87 2018-04-24T17:59:04Z

Hmm, maybe it's just me but I couldn't quite figure out the controls of your game. I picked up pots, plates and the ingredients and tried to combine them but nothing worked. I couldn't figure out how to chop something either. Maybe it's because I don't have an XBox controller?

Anyway, I like your idea of a horror cooking game and the looks aren't that bad either. I guess it's just me not being able to figure out the game controls... :D
