@skahd I too was hoping for more levels. I'm actually considering making it into a full game. I like the concept, I just need to work on it a bit more. Nevertheless, thanks for comment, I'll do my best.
This was a interesting game with some nice art, but you may want to make it more clear how the controls and objectives work. There isn't any indication that you need to use the arrow keys to move around different intersections. Also I noticed that you can move onto spaces without an intersection, but this is only a minor issue.
@zettabit Yeah, it can be a bit confusing. Thanks, I'll see, what I can do about it in the future. The selector is moving onto spaces without an intersection because of how I initially made it and the system was quite difficult to refactor so given the limited time I had to leave it as it was.
You've got the bones for a full game if you do decide to go for it. It's a great concept, and it works well. I didn't know why turning one wheel would affect another though. It'd also be nice to see the current flow.
@pincushion You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm planning to work on this a bit more. I feel that the bomb/unstable concept is too forced into the game, I'll simplify the rules, maybe change it so that you have to connect two points instead of disconnecting them. Then I'll change the graphics to something more vector-ish, so that I can allow more possible position of the wheels. I'll color the wheels accordingly to signify their connectedness and I will visualize the current flow. Thanks a lot for your comment.
thats a neat game. good puzzle but i think the visuals / cables were a bit too hard to read throu. overall its good keep up the good work!
yeah its a really interesting game and the concept has a lot of potential. seeing the serial number at the bottom left reminds me of keep talking and nobody explodes and how some puzzles rely on the serial number haha :p. even though it was quite short, i still think you did quite a good job! well done!!
@potkirland Thanks. I'll se what I can do about it next time :)
@paperaeroplane555 Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes was the original inspiration. It was supposed to be a game about trying to defuse bomb with overly complicated manual. Not sure how ti happened that I made this thing. Thanks for playing.
This is awesome, I was sweating by the third level, and was kinda crushed that there weren't any more... Really cool concept though!
Hi, while I think the version submitted to the compo is a bit rough, I think the idea is neat and your game has a lot of potential to grow into a full game, keep working on it. Congrats on submitting a playable game to compo, always a win no matter what!
I also made a game inspired by KTNE, if you want to check it out :)
@jose-bonilla Thanks for your kind words. I was originally quite sad about my submission but now I also think it has a potential. I'll do my best to make it a full game. And also I try to check all games from people who comment on mine so I'll definitely check yours out when I get back home from work :)
@zazz0000 Hah, thanks a lot. I didn't expect the stakes would actually be so high in this game.
That was fun! The music track is quite neat and evokes the tense mood. The menu screen looked cool but the art in the actual game was a bit plain; it might be more realistic this way but I would have preferred more vibrant colors. I liked the main mechanic and the fact that these dials turn so slowly definitely adds extra tension. Seeing more and harder levels would have been cool but I accidentally pressed space at the beginning of the second level and scrambled to defuse the bomb somehow as quickly as I could (and I succeeded) so I experienced enough tension as is :)
Good job!
@junber Thanks. I'm would really want to improve my pixel art. One of my main goals right now. I'll try to add more levels.
This feels really complete, which for me is almost the biggest compliment! Graphics, UI, audio and the humorous texts all work together nicely, so great job overall! It's a shame there aren't any more levels, I would have gladly played them!
@lazzor Thanks for encouraging words. During this jam I discovered that two hours really isn't enough to make levels for a puzzle game. I'm happy that you enjoyed what's there.
Great concept!
The fading bug confused me a bit, but other than that the game feels polished. Lacks some feedback sounds though, especially when the bomb explode (a gentle fading is a bit odd x) ).
Other than that, the art is great, the core mechanic clever and the game could easily be expanded with more features, more wires to turn around, etc. I really feel like it could make something in the same fashion as Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes.
It's a shame I didn't get my certificate though...
Great work x)
@mathiouza Thanks for playing the game. Yeah, as you say it now, gentle fading really isn't great for bomb explosion. I'll try to expand on the idea.
Oooooooo this has great potential to be a full game with a bunch of puzzles!
This is actually the first entry I don't have to say much... and I do give lengthy feedback! Of course, I think it's clear that this needs more stages, but that's all the time you could muster, no? Other than that, I say the gentle fade is not really a good idea for the explosion unless you have audio of explosions happening all around you.
Superb work!
Nice game! A couple other levels between the second and the last could have been cooler. I liked the graphics. The game overall shows great potential!
Fun puzzle design! I hope you continue building on it cause more levels would be super fun! It took me a bit to figure it out. Since the line color on the circle is lighter than the lines outside of it I wasn't sure if they were actually completing/connecting the circuit. Very cool game though! It definitely left me wanting more :)
I loved the idea and the design! I'm always excited when someone uses Love.
The puzzle design was definitely unique. I do wish there was a slower progression of levels and a few more, but that's only because I was having so much fun!
One thing: the tutorial said X and A to rotate, but that did not seem to work. Instead, A/D worked like left and right. I figured it out, though :)
Great idea, great implementation! Some really cool art as well! I wish there were more levels and some sound and visual effects for the explosion. You can do it in the after-jam version if you want to make one!
The last level was a bit tricky. I believe there are some wires that don't connect but go one above the other. If that's the case it would be great to have some sort of visual identification of such a place. Or maybe I missed something. I've managed to win the game but mostly because I've got lucky. I still had quite some fun with it! Nice job!
If you would like to see how a first-time player interacts with your game I've made a recording of my playthrough: https://youtu.be/nr6n3tF5CHY Your game starts at 59:13
nice game! was shorter than i expected, but the levels where still fun!
@fiakaiera Thanks for support! Yeah, the time constraint for Compo is something I need to learn to work with. Also with the current state of source code. It would be pretty hard to add new elements to the puzzles, so I was also quite limited creatively. And the last thing was that I made all those levels manually in head with very limited visualization, because I had no level editor.
@kumber Thanks, I'm really happy you liked the game!
@victoriaogino Thanks for pointing that out. I'll see what I can do about it.
@hawkin Yeah, that's because it's for XBox controllers. The game originally should detect what you are using, but that's so much more work to do I had to do it this way. Great that you liked the game. I'll try to add more levels and better progression. Also Löve is great!
@caudatecoder Oh, thanks for making the video! It showed me the issues people are gonna have when playing this game, so it's really helpful! There shouldn't be any wires that go above one other. You probably missed the problems because I never actually give you the time to see it and the screen goes black immediately after losing. That's definitely something I need to work on, people really should be able to see why the lost. Other than that, thanks for playing and enjoying the game!
@nightlight00 Thanks for playing the game :) I'll try to add more levels when I get to it. I have too much projects and too little time.
A fun little puzzle for what it is. I think some kind of explosion VFX or SFX when the bomb explodes would really enhance the game, but I get that compo time restrictions are hard to work with 🙂
Nice game, really needs more levels, I breezed through them too quickly, only the third one seemed to require much thought (second one was great for teaching how not to defuse a bomb, though!).
Nice job in teaching the player and giving information on the results of the 2nd level. I liked the speed up of the countdown when you are ready. As you know and others have stated - there needs to be more levels (I suffered from the same issue in my game :)
I like the aesthetics overall with pixel consistency, color choices and the serial number. I like the stressed color keywords in text too. Good job in creating a world. It's just missing some sfx/vfx for interaction as you also know. Success, failure, changing panels, rotating, and starting the timer are places to start for sfx
The music itself could having some change in tension. IMO, the least work and to start would probably be fading it out when you hit the speed up (ideally play some decrement time sound fx) and fade it in again on the next level.
Funny writing too.
