LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Theodores Tumble by headchant 2021-05-04T00:33:27Z

This was an enjoyable game, but it seems that you lose energy even when you don't do anything. For example, at first I was trying to move with WASD but all it did was remove all my energy and kill me. After testing, it seems hitting any key on the keyboard will remove an energy even if it doesn't do anything. I think this should be changed, and WASD should be added as alternative inputs if possible.

Labyrinth by Brendev 2021-05-04T01:54:10Z

This was an interesting game. I liked the look of it and the procedural generation, but it feels a bit aimless because of it. That and the spikes feel a bit cheap sometimes. Also I think the sound needs to be turned a bit down. The angry minotaur was REALLY loud. But overall it was a nice jam game.

Oceanographer Cat by TheCrittersCove 2021-05-04T02:59:33Z

A very cute and charming game. A couple issues I ran into: taking a picture of two things at once kind of bugs the text out. Also it's possible to get outside of the map bounds, leading to some interesting behaviourOops2.png But I think you'd have to be trying to break the game to run into these, which I tend to do. Sorry about that.

Enceladus Depths by ryzy27 2021-04-27T05:20:59Z

Nice game. The text could definitely use some work, it doesn't stand out very much, and the enemy ships can be a bit painful to vanquish, but I like the art, especially the background.

Run Miner by henriquecanella 2021-04-26T17:35:40Z

Nice game. I think the timer could have been a bit more forgiving on later levels, and a few of the pieces of gold were difficult to see, but it was fun otherwise.

A Sinking Feeling by rpgfaker 2021-04-27T02:23:17Z

The idea for this game is great, but I felt like the execution needed a few tweaks. It seemed like the mines weren't really dodgeable so steering the sub didn't seem helpful, also I would have liked to be able to select a certain character for example with 1,2,3. But still, overall it was a good game.

Dating and Boxing by Phoenix Fireflower 2021-05-04T01:38:58Z

Good thing I watched enough Summoning Salt videos to be able to take Wendy out. Overall this was a very fun game. Sometimes the fighting felt a bit rough where every blocked attack would have her retaliate. It can be a bit hard to tell when to stop punching so you don't get pummeled. Also if you just spam the dodge key your character will visually slide out of position. Never thought I'd play dating sim punch out, but I enjoyed it. Even beat the bonus round.

Unsoiled by MiniBetrayal 2021-05-04T01:18:49Z

I became a millionaire in just a week! One of the best games I've played from this jam so far. I think others have said this, but eventually you get so much oil that you can't see the rocks underneath. Maybe rocks should always be on top? Also my game started to slow down at this point. Lastly I think maybe the max horizontal angle should be reduced because you can kinda just got back and forth hitting everything which isn't as fun as going down further. But really for a jam game it was super fun, and the music was great.

Deep Diver by LelulaGames 2021-05-04T02:04:43Z

This was a charming game with nice graphics. The gameplay was a touch simple, and perhaps too easy. Maybe the player should constantly move downward, but that may not be what you're going for.

Deep Dive by ForsakenBacon 2021-04-26T03:33:26Z

Nice jam game. Definitely fits the theme and good use of lighting. I felt like the up/down movement should be faster though.

Pimble! by PirateHearts 2021-04-27T01:03:37Z

Really fun and polished game. The only complaint I have is that the balls seems to disappear quite quickly.

Botanica by FDK 2021-05-04T00:49:22Z

This is a nice game for a first jam/game. As others have said the death animation is pretty great, but there are a few gameplay issues. The third level difficulty spikes way too much. Also you can walk along the ground on the third level and fall out of the world, which seems to just leave you falling through the void forever. The death animation is a bit long if you end up dying a lot. It's easy to see that you learned a lot from all the different pieces you've brought together into this game. Nice work.

Descending the Abandoned Mine by RoCap 2021-05-04T02:20:29Z

This was a nice idea for a game, but there are a few issues that prevent it from really being fun. The player attack animation is just too slow compared to enemy movement and attacks, and there doesn't seem to be a reason to kill enemies. It seems like skipping them is just the best strategy. With some more work it could definitely be a compelling game.

Deeper and Deeper by Nela Flosova 2021-05-04T01:44:22Z

A nice simple jam game. A few suggestions: The game shouldn't start until you press an arrow key, so you aren't just immediately dropped into the game. The player doesn't seem to start in the middle position, the first movement seems to set the player to the middle. It's really easy to smash into a rock that you passed by, and this doesn't feel very fun. I think smooth movement or some collision tweaking could help this. But overall it's a nice looking jam game.

LD49 — Unstable

A boat in the storm by jacqueslelezard 2021-10-04T20:42:29Z

This was a great minimalist game. Great example that bigger isn't always better, especially for a game jam.

Midnight Maintenance by Tattomoosa 2021-10-08T04:43:06Z

I didn't see anyone else mention it, so I just want to say that you can totally walk/jump off walls with a little determination. I think I ended up skipping a decent chunk by doing so. Just something to keep in mind for future entries. Otherwise it was a fun game.

Impulse by phatphaux 2021-10-04T20:16:14Z

This was a small, but interesting game. I think it could use a little more direction. It wasn't super clear what the UI elements indicated, and the How To Play button didn't seem to work.

Unistable by boaheck-artgent 2021-10-06T04:31:30Z

Can I buy Getting Over It?

We have Getting Over It at home.

Getting Over It at home:

But seriously this game was the definition of fun but frustrating. The presentation is really good, and the controls (only tried keyboard) are difficult but rewarding. I was able to beat it, but it took quite a few tries. Being a jam game I feel like it would benefit from being a little bit easier, perhaps with additional challenge as a bonus. Also the name is 5/5.

Penguin Panic by munkkeli 2021-10-04T21:09:55Z

Phenomenal game. Simple but challenging mechanics, cute art and sfx, and a unique interpretation of the theme. What's not to love?

Mystic Push by TheSomeoneXD 2021-10-11T02:46:57Z

As others have said, this is a game with wonderful presentation, but feels a bit too difficult for a jam game. The difficulty really ramps up, especially without a way to undo a few moves instead of restarting the whole level. A few other small things: The camera was a little bit stuttery while moving around; I think it may be because it is moving a pixel at a time as it slows down. Also it would be nice to be able to hold space to keep pushing instead of needed to press it over and over. Overall though it was still a fun game.

Super Clumsy Box Galaxy by ZachsButt 2021-10-04T21:24:48Z

There was a lot packed into this for 48 hours of development. Controls were solid, dialog was charming, and the mini games were interesting. Not really anything negative to say. Solid entry.

BLOOPS! by jitspoe 2021-10-08T04:06:24Z

I think your tetromino tower game was even more unstable than mine. I definitely would have liked to see what you could have made if you had more time, but it was still fun to play, if a bit frustrating.

Portal Rescue by Vimlark 2021-10-04T20:33:15Z

A very solid game. The main mechanic was super interesting. I do think there is room to improve some aspects of the collisions, and the grab mechanic seemed a bit too necessary, but the art was cute and overall it was a great entry.

Trauma by AdamCYounis 2021-10-06T02:54:41Z

It was quite amazing how much you managed to get done in under 48 hours. The art and effects are great, and the mechanic is interesting and fun. There were a few small issues with text flashing or arrow placement after picking up a card, but minor things like that are inevitable during a jam. Overall it was a very pretty and otherwise well rounded game.

How (Not) To Defuse Bombs by Reiqy 2021-10-04T20:06:31Z

This was a interesting game with some nice art, but you may want to make it more clear how the controls and objectives work. There isn't any indication that you need to use the arrow keys to move around different intersections. Also I noticed that you can move onto spaces without an intersection, but this is only a minor issue.

Block it neon by fachscahfttf 2021-10-05T00:09:41Z

Very cool game idea. I liked the neon aesthetic. I think the presentation could have been a bit simpler, but maybe that was part of the challenge. It seemed like it wasn't very obvious when the pieces would misalign, and I would maybe recommend tweaking the preview to make it more obviously a preview. Overall it was quite a bit of fun, but I may just be saying that because I managed to get the top score as of writing.

Falling Tower by Simpathey 2021-10-05T03:44:39Z

This is a nice game. I liked the main mechanic and the two different block types. The only feedback I would give is that the controls are a little fickle. It may help to allow the user to simple drag from a start point to an end point, instead of having to click on the end point, and maybe prevent attaching ropes to the same block they start on. If you do decide to work on this post jam, I would say multiple levels as well as additional block types could be some nice additions. Overall it was a fun and solid game.

Orbital Cascade by PolymathLD 2021-10-11T03:16:04Z

I think you've already received a lot of the feedback I wanted to give, but I will add on that I think it may be nice to have the UI be over the Earth. It was a bit annoying to have debris or the ship going under the UI. Overall it was a great looking game with an interesting idea.

False Angel by Jonah_SRG 2021-10-04T20:53:26Z

This game is definitely packed full of ideas, but I think it was made a bit too difficult. The second part was kind of a nightmare. I think making the controls more forgiving, or adding checkpoints would help a lot. The graphics, especially the color palette were very nice though.

Drops of Neon by Blind Archer 2021-10-05T04:06:49Z

Difficult but fun, with an interesting take on the theme. Nice game.

Apollo's Lab by Graylure 2021-10-05T04:27:50Z

What a morbid, but interesting main mechanic. The art is super cute, and I also really liked that the dumpsters acted as checkpoints. Seeing the characters climb out of one was a treat.

Tetromino Stack by Myles Doupe 2021-10-05T04:00:12Z

This game was short but sweet. It did seem a little bit difficult, but that may just because the grab-based rotation point takes some getting used to. This definitely has potential to be a cool post jam game.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Carpentangle by Jimbly 2022-04-05T02:46:22Z

This was a very interesting take on the match-3 style. Very interesting and I could see this being turned into a puzzle style game with some work. I think in the current iteration it can be a bit tough because getting a giant piece tends to put you in a loop of getting giant pieces, but it is still fun. Nice presentation too.

The world is breaking by BubakGames 2022-04-06T03:43:47Z

It definitely takes some getting used to, and the sensitivity is way too high to start, but it is a very interesting idea. I like the building and converting terrain, but I feel like it could be a bit more responsive. Still a fun game though.

I.P.A.D by JGUR 2022-04-06T04:23:17Z

As others have said, it is quite satisfying to see the turrets tear through asteroids, but I feel like it gets a bit spammy with how much money you get and how many turrets you need. Also it would be nice if it was easier to upgrade turrets, as it can be difficult to select them and hit the upgrade button fast enough to keep up with the cash flow. Also it seems like the place sound effect has a nasty peak at the end of it, which can be quite grating on the ears.

Rocket Lawnchair by jitspoe 2022-04-05T03:50:20Z

At first I thought this would be mostly just a funny game, but there is a surprising amount of depth once you get used to controlling this beer-powered missile. I didn't make it into every pool, but I did make it into most of them, including the furthest one. Also I broke the game, oops. Oops.PNG

Uranium by Simpathey 2022-04-05T04:30:23Z

Unique interpretation of the theme and controls. The physics are fun, but challenging, and the game has a nice, clean presentation.

Chess? by dreamscale 2022-04-06T04:07:11Z

This game has some very interesting mechanics. It would probably have been nice to have some better indicators for where pieces will end up, as it's not immediately obvious that queens, for example, won't move more than one space forward. But there is definitely a good amount of strategy with all of the different pieces, as well as a great presentation. Nicely done.

Keep it Secret by Zettabit 2022-04-05T03:58:05Z

@yamzho Yeah my implementation was a bit wonky so sometimes you aren't actually close enough even if it looks like you are. There was a lot of stuff I didn't get a chance to fix up before the deadline. Thanks for playing though!

Keep it Secret by Zettabit 2022-04-05T05:47:08Z

@papaya @wasteofammo Thanks for playing and the feedback. When your secret is spread you lose reputation, but getting too close to the boss also triggers a loss of reputation. That wasn't very clear so I've updated the instructions as well as threw a quick circle around him in my latest bugfix patch. Hopefully this helps the game make more sense for anyone else playing.

Stop the Train by oldcezar 2022-04-06T03:27:13Z

I like the premise of doubling the time for each item, as well as the humor, but the movement seemed very slow for a player that is supposed to be in a hurry. Also I encountered a crash when talking to "santa" for a second time. Unfortunately I don't have the patience to get the complete ending, but it's cool that it exists.
