Very unstable, fits the theme well ;) The sound effects are glorious. Also runs suprisingly well in the browser. My high score is 928

Very unstable even with low DPI and it's really fun to play. :D
Funny concept! Those blocks are quite jumpy, haha. My highscore was only 912. I often ended up trying to use the walls, but had to let go of them to catch a new block. bloops.png
Got a score of a bit over 1000, felt like it was hard getting any higher than that haha. Fits the theme very well, funny sound effects and overall a fun game!
I managed to launch a block into the abyss past the left wall. Poor guy got obliterated (the sound effects really sold it).
Cool game! I liked the take on tetris, haha. The blocks could use a little more mass so they aren't so "jumpy". Overall, cool game, good take on the theme, good job!

The game is very funny. Fits the theme. Maybe the sound effect when lose life is too loud but that make me laugh. Good work
You've done something subtle with this game that I haven't seen with any other jam game that REALLY impressed me (I'm going to assume it was intentional!) which is that the game mechanically encourages instability and staying unstable. I pretty quickly found that because the blocks only drop when you stabilize, that means I just need to stay jittery and I have as much time as I need to adjust! Really cool, and fun game! Also the sound effects are hilarious!
@ericfreeman I pretty much maxed out everything I could. Even set the friction above 1. More mass tends to make the blocks penetrate each other more and bounce around more. I think, fundamentally, the concept is just, well, unstable. ๐
@teegan At one point I had the blocks drop at a set interval, but that was sometimes too crazy, so I figured I'd let people let the blocks settle, which gives you a chance to shake your blocks into place before the next one drops, but if you're too passive, you might be out of place for the next drop. Glad you liked it! :)
945 here, had I not seen @korfi 's comment I wouldn't have thought it was possible lol. It definitely made me put a lot harder.
The gameplay is pretty unique and turned out to be very fun. I initially thought it might play like Tricky Towers, but this tests a whole different set of skills. One thing this game has that I hardly ever see in other games is extremeeeely careful mouse movement. It's not often that you have to move something that carefully across your screen, and in the end it feels like balancing an egg in a spoon. Very cool consequence of the gameplay.
I think I can get over 1000 if I park myself in a corner and pray that the blocks are summoned right above me, but every time I tried I was not so lucky. Would love to hear what kind of scores you can get yourself!
This was a lot of fun! Gameplay-wise I kept finding myself wanting to move the platform really fast underneath the next block, but the fast motion was terrible for the blocks I was holding. I think this is exactly what you intended though, and certainly makes it unstable.
Even without music, I have to give you high marks for audio. The sound effects are all fantastic and funny!
@peachtreeoath I know I got over 1000 once, because I was curious if it was even possible. Not sure what the exact score was. Funny how many people have mentioned Tricky Towers -- I wasn't aware it existed before, but now I'm very aware. ๐
I was trying to clear 1 block line but couldn't manage. super hard!
Classic Tetris is hard, but BLOOPS! is avangarde. It is extremely difficult to learn, but it pays to train.
this was a pretty fun game. though i think i nitpicked you last time for having the default background :P throw a black background, a bit spot light aiming down, and maybe some quick blender mountains. but again these are just nitpicky :D
@clonze You can't actually clear lines in this. The objective is to stack as high as you can.
@jcmonkey Last time I actually tweaked it a bit to at least match the scene. This one I didn't have time to touch at all, haha. I wanted to do a cool scene with some blocks in the distance, but I was down to the wire on this one. Literally crashing when starting a new game 5 minutes before the deadline. ๐ I was out of town and didn't start until Monday, though.
By the way for anybody looking for a score to beat, PomoTheDog got 1100.
Really neat concept, solid application of the theme. It was a lot of fun, the controls/physics were very sensitive and made the game pretty difficult. The sound effects were a hilarious surprise, especially the game over one. Nice work!
An interesting variation of Tetris. All is well, but something is missing.
Good job! I saw this game being on stream and it turned out pretty fun even though you only had like 5 hours I think. Can maybe make the background a little more interesting but thats the obvious one. Your voice acting is cool and silly, you should do more of it ^^. Can never go wrong with adding more lights and particles, easy ways to make the game look more pretty ^^
@kit-gorn Lots of stuff I didn't have time to do, since I started on Monday. Curious what you feel is missing, though.
@alexofp Yeah, I planned to do a background, but literally just ran out of time.
@jitspoe Ok, let me think. It's obvious about graphics and music. I have not figured out whether the basket is physically moving or not. If not, then make it physical. With the help of Rigidbody. Plus, make that the basket does not hard follow the cursor. It gradually accelerated with help Lerp function. Make faces with emotion to detail. I think it would be funny. And sorry about my english.
@kit-gorn Thanks for the feedback! Your English is fine. The basket is physics based, using a rigid body. It moves with a capped velocity toward the mouse cursor, though I agree some gradual acceleration would help. Sadly, I didn't have the time to fine tune that as I started the game on Monday and only had a few hours. ๐
@jitspoe I'm a sucker for records, as far as I can understand the record used to be 1100 by PomoTheDog?

Having played the game for a bit too long I do have a bit more to comment than I had at first, things that you probably have already thought of but I'll mention them just in case! Visuals aside I feel like there are two nice quality of life features which would be good for the player. Firstly a respawn button (for when you mess up early and just want to restart and not have to wait for 5 blocks to fall) and secondly a line for where your high score was so that you know where your score to beat is!
As I stated before, it's a really fun and somewhat silly game! :D
I think your tetromino tower game was even more unstable than mine. I definitely would have liked to see what you could have made if you had more time, but it was still fun to play, if a bit frustrating.
The game was solid. I liked how you were able to fix some of the physics problems you had early on in development. The game ended up being fun, honestly I kinda liked trying to bounce the blocks around too.
Pretty fun! Some of the physics seemed... fidgety. I'm wondering if that could be solved by applying some kind of smooth speed towards the mouse rather than what seems to just be going straight for it? But maybe that's the point idk. I also found it really difficult to stack anything higher than the sides of the bucket haha. Too hard for me, perhaps :P
Overall though, definitely a fun one to play. The sounds were a high point.
It's certainly unstable, but I think it would be much more fun if the physics setup wasn't outright uncontrollable. Every tiny movement just sends the polyominoes flying. If the pieces were heavier, the platform movement slower, the friction higher, this would really be a game one can play for the win, and it would be a great one. The overall twist on the popular โphysics tetrisโ idea is really nice and feels fresh!
@korfi Nice work! :) Yeah, could definitely stand to have some more quality of life stuff, but it was literally crashing 5 minutes before submission -- I didn't even have time to do all the core stuff I wanted, but, hey, I started it on Monday, so I'm happy I even made something playable. ๐
@13x666 Yeah, if your mouse doesn't move smoothly, it's certainly very jittery. Some acceleration or something would help. Friction was set beyond the max, though, so I don't think increasing that much more is possible without the physics acting wonky in a different way.
Hahaha I looove the sound effects! Fun little game!

Bloops! That was a neat spin on tetris. It was pretty challenging as well. I think it was alright in graphics and only wish there was some music to jam to, but understandable with limited time! I really loved the sfx. Overall a fun game!
I wanted to show my score off, but now I see it's not really the highscore, however 1000+ score is satisfying for me ^^

After I read all the comments, I don't have anything new to add. UI and SFX are great :ok_hand_tone2:
My first thought when starting this was "oh no..." haha. Very enjoyable little game. Fun even as you struggle to stack those wobbly blocks, seeing them fly everywhere. The voice sounds are also always a nice touch :p
this game was fun. I rated this ages ago, but decided to have to not comment so my game would remain quiet. Otherwise, I had to go back and say this was a lot of fun.
I've played lots of physics based Tetris games this time around, but this is the first time I've ever had so much uncertainty attached to my current board. It's neat having an entry where instead of the main threat being falling blocks, your own paddle is the greatest factor to destabilization-- the blocks are just so prepared to leap out of the containing area that every movement becomes an ordeal. It really kept me on edge when moving the paddle, which is something none of the other Tetris-likes really managed to do this jam-- there's not a single moment where I was actually worried about that top block, just the bottom blocks. I also appreciate the audio design, as the foley audio is incredibly lifelike and sounds exactly like how I imagined the shapes and collisions would sound.
All in all, a fun concept and well put together. I do wish I could call the next block manually as the automatic timer sometimes took a little longer than I'd like to recognize that the tower was stable (well, 'stable') but that's just nitpicking.
Good stuff!
