LD35 — Shapeshift

Echoes by FrameMatt 2016-04-23T13:28:00

Animations were clean and cool. I like the idea of having the eyeball anxiously looming over ever move you make. And how you have to cower into that low reclusive state to avoid enemies. The mood felt natural in the game.

I can tell the level design was well thought out, just needs more depth and it will feel more engaging. I was stuck on the first level in the "crouch" state and up nor jump would get me out of it for some reason. Had to restart the game.

Overall really enjoyed it!

Shape Rave by MintArcade 2016-04-23T20:28:00

Fun game. would be good fit for a mobile game. Nice visual effects.

Duality by HolyBlackCat 2016-04-23T18:28:00

This game was amazing! so much fun, and an innovative idea. The graphics are all coherent and gorgeous. The level designs are very clever. The music and sfx really help set the tone.

Overall.. amazing. Some levels were a very very challenging, but I felt like they were engaging and made me want to keep playing til I got it.

Dungeophobia by Maxr00 2016-04-23T13:34:00

Loved the art style and the idea was really cool. I think it was a bit too challenging right out of the gate. Also too bad for the buggy controls. I had wish there was a really short tutorial or instructions at the beginning to get me started.

Otherwise, great fun, quirky graphics, and clever idea!

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-19T03:15:00

So Much Fun!! I Love the drifting!! For some reasons, the numbers didn't work on the number pad. So it was a little awkward controlling it with numbers directly above the WASD keys. Otherwise, the levels were interesting. The theme was innovative and the graphics were cohesive. Great Job!

Aether Crypt by Tselmek 2016-04-23T14:42:00

I had SO much fun playing this. I love the open level while still being limited on entry based on which forms you've unlocked. Fun mechanics, awesome art style. Love the ambient soothing music that makes you feel good while exploring the dark. It was fun discovering how different forms could help you get through different challenges.

Only thing is it was really really dark to the point of it being hard to see walls or even hints of where a small opening might be. But also I see how making it brighter would make those parts maybe too trivial to solve.

Perfect amount of challenge to it. Overall awesome game!

Operation R.E.P.T.I.L.E. by Jungle 2016-04-23T15:31:00

Very cool idea! I had so much fun taking out reptilian scum! The graphics were entertaining and the theme was silly. The gameplay was a nifty idea but it felt like I never got any hints towards 2/3 of the lizards. It made the game feel impossible to beat. Otherwise, really fun game! (Also I liked the menu screen haha)

The Killer's Apprentice by PaulJs 2016-04-23T16:11:00

Very interesting, dark and deep game. I liked the theme interpretation. The music set a good tone for the scene, and I liked the cutscenes. The gameplay was good, but I definitely think it could be improved and made more in depth. Overall, interesting idea with lots of potential!

SH4PE by ragnarolis 2016-04-23T15:50:00

The graphics and sound effects were really well done. The game was very entertaining, for a short period. I think there needs to be more depth in the game. It felt meaningless, and unrewarding of a goal and there wasn't a feeling of mastery anywhere. Just felt like luck of the dice chose your fate. Otherwise, well executed, simple, and fun. Also, I was a bit confused initially with what shape to match with what and kind of the general objective of the game. Maybe making the background more screened / less saturated might bring the important matching gameplay elements out more in the ui.

Fylgjur by Aaranos 2016-04-19T03:35:00

Fun game. It gets really hard when you start missing enemies and they are surrounding you. The art was nice and I loved how the character animates in his run. Audio could be improved. Tutorial was great to have. Overall Nice work!

The Great Leap by Louspirit 2016-04-23T14:56:00

Really cool game! The level was a bit challenging. It felt very easy to either overshoot or undershoot a jump. Besides that I liked the different obstacles you had to overcome.

The theme was fun and I liked the voice calling for the "next one" like role call. I almost wish there at least was a checkpoint half way so you don't have to start from scratch each time.

Overall it was fun first person platforming! Good job!

Disarranged by Sheepolution 2016-04-23T21:17:00

Couch man is a hero. His depressed owner is such a Lazy Boy. Depression is a serious issue, and my Uncushioned opinion is that Couch man suffers a much more Deep-Seated issue. Why Chaise your dreams, when your lack of identity is just Stuffed?

Hilarious game! So much fun!
5/5 Would have awkward stare down again.

William's Dilemma by thunderklaus 2016-04-19T03:05:00

This game was fun! Interesting and different puzzle mechanics. Well thought out levels and cute cohesive graphics. The difficulty progression was from lvl to lvl felt natural and engaging. Good job!

Altar by datadazer 2016-04-19T00:02:00

@thunderklaus Hey I hear ya! We were bustin to get something published late late last night (this morning) and I had work immediately later. I'm definitely getting a web version up ASAP after work in a couple hours :) sorry about that!

Altar by datadazer 2016-04-19T02:55:00

I apologize... Web or OSX are both on haitus until I hear back from YoYo Games support. I am having all kinds of trouble downloading a professional version + modules to be able to export my game. :( So frustrating.

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-23T12:54:00

very fun! Great graphics. love how the monsters attack everything around them.
more challenging than I expected. Ashamed to say after many many attempts, no luck finding my dear..

Dustin Finamore by fin_nolimit 2016-04-23T15:10:00

This game was SO much fun! I loved every minute of it! The "Sugar rush" and "Yum" sfx were fun. The art and theme were very unique, fun, and instantly brought me joy.

The mechanics and level design were awesome and was a good challenge to keep me engaged!

The only improvement I would work on next time is the music only because it gets a little repetitive.

Overall excellent and fun game! :)
You should be proud of that daughter of yours!

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Chariot Arena Battle by KayZ 2016-08-29T16:21:00

It would be cool if the arena had obstacles / traps. fun game! good work!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Giraffe Roller by commanderstitch 2020-10-11T20:59:18Z

What a zany and wild ride I just went on. This game is absolutely ridiculous in the best of ways. Such a fun experience that was really goofy and lost myself in a laugh so many times. Fun character, I actually really like the sketched art, though I do wish Health and score UI was a bit easier to read. Also just adding a tiny amount of camera shake on impacts would really make the destruction of the base feel juicy. The projectiles were a bit too challenging for me. Other than that, what a hilarious experience. Absolutely loved it. As others have said, refreshingly WEIRD. Awesome game!

Anomaly 47 by PhilStrahl 2020-10-11T19:08:20Z

Loved the music, audio, art, and title screen! The game itself was a fun mystery to explore. The text system and the interactions were very well done. I think the story felt rushed (probably had to be though given the excellent trade off was polish, sound design, atmosphere and even some survival mechanics). I wish there were even more engaging mechanics like the Oxygen levels that make you rush or give you instances of panic/challenge. The item pickups were really neat for unlocking the story elements. My favorite parts were the feeling of rushing around, racing the clock to uncover more clues. The storytelling/mood is awesome. Looped space station and rooms were very well designed. Great game! Well done!

Last Trip of the Monorail! by INCD021 2020-10-11T21:44:07Z

Really fun adventure game. Loved the dialogue and the fast monorail theme was great! 10/10 Would talk to Cowboy again. Great entry!

Oiram Trak by jkniest 2020-10-06T02:00:51Z

That was a lot of fun! It's awesome how much you were able to accomplish, the track felt exciting, the racing was good, the bots were fair and felt intelligent, and local multiplayer! The controls were intuitive and the powerups were fun to use. Overall a solid entry!

SnakeLoops by datadazer 2020-10-06T14:26:40Z

Thanks all for the awesome feedback! The biggest issues seem to be - the mouse / camera sensitivity - unintended floor sliding - wrapping feels sticky... due to a last minute change :(

(Note: should do more playtesting early on next LD)

Thanks again for taking the time to rate and play my game!

load_save(); by rubr 2020-10-06T02:31:04Z

Man that was fun to play. Juicy effects, the music felt great, the sfx were great, the art was cohesive. The controls and the abilities were intuitive and the game was fun and fair. Super solid entry!

Unholy Echo by Dizzy 2020-10-06T20:12:09Z

Really neat boss battle. The first two hints made me feel really smart once I discovered their answers. I could not for the life of me figure out what is meant by "focus" at the Gem part. Overall neat idea, great sound, nice cohesive graphics, great game!

Echo Anomaly by Fonics 2020-10-07T23:09:34Z

Really cool puzzle game! Loved the atmosphere and time looping effects. The player was a bit large and tight to fit between gaps. Overall super fun and very well designed levels!

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-06T19:41:55Z

Loved everything about it. The only thing if I'm being critical is I didn't understand what the box on the button did probably since I figured I was supposed to move it. I'm guessing it had something to do with the rain over the idol? Other than that picky note, the game was so well polished and fun to play. Awesome entry! Even the camera movement was so awesome and cinematic!

Suitcase Panic by TheInkSkeleton 2020-10-11T20:43:55Z

Great work! This game was definitely a panic-spree. Minus a couple of minor bugs, I really enjoyed the concept a lot. I love the frantic feeling it gives you. I think the score shouldn't go negative, as the strikes already determine the end game state and a score of 0 would make more sense if you failed to deliver. Also I wasn't sure which suitcases I should toss strategically, and ended up having the problem of too many suitcases to look through. I would balance the challenge to make it feel a bit more fair and progressively introduce challenge a bit slower pace. Other than that I think this was a really well executed game and a real blast to struggle with lol. Also loved the art assets.

Stuck In Orbit by kamen Kitanov 2020-10-12T03:39:27Z

Played this game for quite awhile. Very arcade feel to it, I think the balance and the difficulty curve worked really well, especially for a game jam game. I was especially engaged with the variety of enemies and upgrades. Great job!

Beware, space! by Vladimir Smolin 2020-10-18T15:49:02Z

The camera over rotating is a common issue that just takes some practice programming a camera controller (or even using something like Cinemachine in Unity). Otherwise I really loved the game and the idea behind it. Any 3D game where I am manning a spaceship first person is a blast. I loved the mechanics of protecting yourself and managing multiple systems. The tutorial could probably be before the game starts so you don't die so quickly while reading the tutorial. Overall it was a really awesome idea and I really enjoyed the execution of the frantic management between destroying asteroids and handling your madness! Great work :)

Stuck in an inner tube! by UkuleleFury 2020-10-11T21:13:09Z

Gave me some serious Ice Climbers vibes but very innovative with the inner tube mechanic. I loved that "aha" moment after I had been avoiding bouncing against walls and then ran into a platform just out of reach. The music complimented the art and gameplay very well. It is really tough but not too frustrating thanks to the checkpoints. The unique levels add to the depth and exploration of the mechanic well. Overall was a really fun game. Great Job!

In The Loop by TheGamerASD 2020-10-06T20:42:46Z

I like it, the brick breaker but making the movement very complex. I especially loved it when I started getting pickups. Couldn't stop playing. Gave me real brick breaker vibes without the bricks. Adding some music, particle effects, and screen shake would really make the impact of each hit feel great. Overall very well done!

Lily Pad Drifters by bernard-bumblebutt 2020-10-06T02:09:51Z

Neat game! It was pretty challenging to play. I like the art and the gameplay a lot. I know the voices were intended as humor and as the frogs making fun where you had to win the girl's heart, but the discouraging voices almost taunted me as I kept dying lol. Otherwise this was a fun and unique gem of a game and a great entry!

Crypt of Capitalism by Lychee 2020-10-06T19:53:06Z

Awesome game! I loved the art, sfx, and the level design. The transaction mechanic is a clever idea! The movement felt good and dying didn't feel frustrating since all you do is collect debt as a result. I like that it is more about trying to avoid credit/loans as a sort of score to how well you do. The length of game / difficulty was perfect. Solid entry!

[Online] Neon Duel by evoleo 2020-10-05T23:39:47Z

Just a heads up, I went to play your game, but your itch.io link got a 404 not found. I'll try again soon in case you are still getting it up on the site :)

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-07T16:39:22Z

Fun game! I loved that the game went with the music. Very nice bullet hell rhythm game that had me groovin. The art is cohesive and really setup the mood for a disco party. Great entry!

We are me: Solaris Sands by mind0o 2020-10-06T20:32:38Z

What an ambitious game for a jam! The combat felt really nice. The controls were a bit overwhelming at first but I ended up figuring them out fairly easily, and the campfires helped me feel less bad for accidentally using up all my potions by spamming the wrong button. The story was creative and I enjoyed the dialogue. A lot of the sound effects were a bit muffled or quiet. Overall, very solid entry and really impressive!

ray caster racing js by awesomearcade365 2020-10-05T23:12:56Z

Awesome game. This is very good for a first submission! It's really cool you used JS to make it too. It feels a bit lacking in a goal, something like a time trial or personal best would give the player more incentive to race fast. I love the minimap. Overall, solid entry!

13 Codes by JammyGunns 2020-10-07T14:09:15Z

Mazes can lack a lot of depth sometimes, but you managed to make this maze very engaging. The codes are a fun addition, especially since some of the panels had multiple codes opening different paths. I had a lot of fun and felt clever once I remembered a code I had found earlier that ended up opening the path I needed. The codes and panels were very well placed, as I felt like the pacing was consistent. It pushed me to progress further under my own intrinsic motivation. The towers and upper level was a clever design to allow the player to get a bird's eye view of how the maze has changed. The only minor improvement I could think of would be to make the player movement just a bit faster if I'm being picky. Overall, a very solid entry!

Loophole by tverdo 2020-10-06T19:25:35Z

Great game. The movement felt good and the level design was good. I absolutely love the transitions between levels. The balls spawning seemed random because sometimes they would be challenging to pass and the next time they wouldn't even spread out. Overall solid entry, good work!

LD49 — Unstable

Jingoku by Skyeward 2021-10-05T03:12:30Z

How. Just how do you build not just one game, but so many games in this one game AND succeed at such polish. This game was brilliant and I'm awe-struck. Incredible!

Final Slumber by Flatgub 2021-10-17T19:38:22Z

The mood was great and the graphics were really nice. I loved the narrative. The feeling was there, just wish there was more! Awesome job on this game!

gunstable by torcado 2021-10-05T01:56:46Z

So much fun! I played this for awhile. I love all of the different weapons, randomness, and the bug enemies. My favorite part of all was collecting all of that Cheeeeese. Nicely done! The only thing I wish was that there was music, but otherwise an outstanding and well polished game!

BLAME IT ON THE RAIN by bellatrion 2021-10-08T01:09:10Z

I like the story elements and the way the art led up to the events. I was not expecting it to go where it did haha and I had fun! I really liked the audio a lot. Great job!

The Headless Horseman by datadazer 2021-10-07T13:51:44Z

Couldn't agree more with all of the constructive feedback here. Thank you all for taking the time to play and comment <3

The Headless Horseman by datadazer 2021-10-16T16:55:22Z

@denatus it is possible to beat, though I definitely made it a bit too long for such a shallow mechanic (literally jumping and that's it).

You reach the end after ~2 mins of surviving, which is a pretty long time to be doing an extremely uninteresting and repetitive action.

I should have built the gameplay first, but instead I focused mostly on art and audio before the foundation of a good prototype.

Thank you for playing and the feedback! :)

Project S.L.I.M.E. by Dioinecail 2021-10-08T23:28:18Z

This was a really fun entry! A lot of entries like this tend to be way too complicated in the rules and explaining it to players, but this game felt very intuitive. UI is often taken for granted, but I think your UI really helped me quickly and easily understand the rules of the game naturally. I love the different buff and debuff effects along with their ranges. The only thing missing is some nice audio and a bit more game feel/juice, but overall I had a really fun time with this game. Great job!

Buggy the Bunny by Don Fouts 2021-10-05T01:45:35Z

Really cool idea and well implemented! I love the contrast in the moods. It gave me that "Oh, have I gone too far?" moment which was a lot of fun. Also the platforming level design was phenomenal! The art, music, post processing effects, and gameplay all carry it home for a very polished game. Excellent job!

The Balancing of Hill House by yupasama 2021-10-04T23:50:23Z

I like the concept of moving furniture to keep the house balanced. I accidentally soft locked the furniture from moving by crowding furniture together and couldn't do anything about it but restart. Could use audio but overall it was a fun game. There is something very satisfying about clearing up a messy room. Good job!

Shinobi Rivals by Tom Robson 2021-10-08T00:23:10Z

The impact and movement felt great. The different levels made it feel fresh. Loved the graphics, audio, and overall setting. We had a lot of fun!

RAGE HORSE by SlickRamen 2021-10-08T00:55:29Z

Really great game feel. Highly polished, great graphics, great audio, and the shooting felt awesome. Just wish there were more levels and more challenge! Awesome job!

Apocalypse Run by LCStark 2021-10-07T23:19:01Z

The enemies are fun and I love their different behaviors. It felt like a good challenge but not impossible, so good balance. I didn't realize until my second playthrough that driving closer to the far right made you drive faster, which is a pretty clever risk/reward mechanic. The graphics looked wonderful, fun, and cohesive. It would have been even more cool with audio. Even without audio it was a really great game overall. Awesome job!

Volatile Witchcraft by Tomssuli 2021-10-08T00:44:37Z

The music was phenomenal, it was so satisfying hearing that success music! You can cheese a bit by jumping up along the edge of the screen, but I avoided cheating so I could feel the game's intended difficulty. I loved the mechanics and the different items to use that you collected to help you beat the final witch. The game was really awesome and super impressive overall. The glitching blocks and windows are a cool touch. Nice job!

Reactor by Birdwards 2021-10-09T22:38:08Z

The sfx/music was really pleasant and felt super satisfying. I love the atmosphere of the game and how soothing it feels. The UI is well done and overall it was a really satisfying / fun game to play. Awesome job!

Potion Panic by LittleW00D 2021-10-07T23:39:35Z

This was such a cool arcade style game. I love me a spooky season game and had an absolute blast playing it. I loved the different phases of the game to allow for a brief rest in between bouts of chaos. It might have been slightly too challenging too early, but eventually I got better at it. The graphics and audio work very well together and sold the arcade experience. Loved the potion grabbing/throwing and dodging the unstable cauldron. Great game!

BLOOPS! by jitspoe 2021-10-12T23:30:48Z

Bloops! That was a neat spin on tetris. It was pretty challenging as well. I think it was alright in graphics and only wish there was some music to jam to, but understandable with limited time! I really loved the sfx. Overall a fun game!

Gunsundheit! by Papabirb 2021-10-04T22:43:16Z

Very unique idea, loved the balancing your sneeze concept. Only thing I ran into was that I could cheese it by just holding aim left the whole time. I went back and played it as intended though. Overall it is a good game, well done! Also loved the Sun's concerned look lol

Manoe's Quest by Mahjoub 2021-10-05T03:31:57Z

What a polished game. I love how creative the mechanic is. The art is phenomenal and the game felt great. The game felt pretty challenging at the beginning, but I started getting the feel for it around the 3rd level. That was fun!

TYPEROPE by Piturnah 2021-10-05T02:10:57Z

This was fun! I loved the concept and great execution. Unfortunately my keyboard was having the 5 keys block issue as well (I have an older keyboard), but I still liked the game a lot! Very fun mechanic!

Quantum Qitty by Mr.developer 2021-10-08T01:37:08Z

The game is beautiful and the audio sounds so very nice. The game is sooo challenging, and I'm pretty decent at platformers. The precision required was pretty brutal, but I really enjoyed the experience a lot. The graphics where wonderful and game feel was excellent. The level design was solid. Awesome job!

Everything is Fine by Noire 2021-10-12T22:25:14Z

The mechanics felt very representative and narrative themselves during each moment. I have known a lot about this topic from a different perspective in my personal life and have to say this is a spot on representation and it is a very challenging subject for me. I think you approached the topic in a very thoughtful manner and I appreciate every moment I spent playing this game. The audio and graphics were fantastic and it was well built. Great job!

U-49 Meltdown by Blue Pin Studio 2021-10-05T04:14:12Z

This game had natural progression. I had so many moments where I was just SO CLOSE to making it back. I loved the game and definitely made it fun trying to plan and explore your path. I loved the audio clips adding story and depth to the world. The voice effects were cool and the music was moody. Graphics sold it all the more especially when the red alarm goes off and small bits start falling from the ceiling. I had a lot of fun :)

Atomic Rock Paper Scissors by lucasvb 2021-10-05T03:40:39Z

I got zoned into this game, I almost lost track of time. It's easy to just keep playing and playing. I love the art style too. A refreshing, innovative take on a match game. Well executed!

Scrap Pilot by BjornStahl 2021-10-04T23:31:21Z

This game looks very technical to build. This was very well done. The building was intuitive and I liked having a tutorial. It took me a bit to figure out how to setup the thruster controls, but once I did it was addicting delicately balancing my thrusters with my weight. Made me feel like a genius when I finally built something I could fly reliably! Just like when I play games like kerbal space program or scrap mechanic. I loved it!

Plate Spinner 2021 by StoicKekis 2021-10-08T04:17:18Z

Nice game and implementation of your idea. I think there is some room for improving the depth of gameplay or variety. I really like the player feedback on the plates that are about to fall. I like that spinning it slowly spins it up and isn't just an instant reset. Overall a great execution of your idea and it was good fun. Great job!

Core Weapon by ThatANoNoWord 2021-10-08T02:50:57Z

What a fun game! It was a chaos trying to keep the core stable while asteroids were hurdling towards me, which was fun. The reactor is really good player feedback and the dials and knobs were intuitive in terms of how to use them. Nice job!

Ropy Woply Doo by Jackaljk 2021-10-08T01:19:57Z

This is absolutely the most humorous game I've played so far. The audio was perfection and I loved just how ridiculous it felt getting shot in the face by that cannon. The gameplay itself was way too difficult for me to get even close to beating it, but I had so much fun regardless. I too encountered what I think was the camera bug where it's rotation was upside down or sideways too much. Overall, the game is hilarious and I had a lot of fun!

RadioFrog by Dylen 2021-10-04T23:58:57Z

Blowing up and getting combo kills was a blast. The art is cool and the explosion was very satisfying. The jumping felt a bit random or unreliable on what height I was gonna get. Overall a fun game! Nice job :)

GROUDOU! by Chacawott 2021-10-12T22:41:29Z

My spacebar hurts. Fun game! I really liked GROUDOU's voice haha

highscore-groudou.PNG

GROUDOU! by Chacawott 2021-10-20T22:29:18Z

@alyd-asmar I had to lock up my elbow and force the feeling in my arm to shake reflexively lol. That Groudou sure mashes spacebar fast!

Eldritch Horse by Knipsch 2021-10-04T22:25:45Z

Whatever horror I just experienced will stay with me in my psyche for decades to come. This game was absolutely hilarious and so creative. The art, music, and sound effects especially sold the experience. Loved the post processing effects to reflect the level of mutation. And 10/10 for the unreasonably large barn.

Awesome game!

Pasinko by Rashcan 2021-10-05T02:55:46Z

That was such a neat game! I especially love all of the art and audio. The boat steering mechanic felt super fun!

Wobbly Penguins by bqq 2021-10-12T22:07:04Z

Totally caught me off guard. That twist was wild! Really well put together game. ALL of the critters in the game were adorable. I even got to hang out with the big one up close and personal! Well done!

Unpredictable Processes by Denatus 2021-10-16T22:39:50Z

Nice game and I like the increasing difficulty in levels. The jumps were challenging and controls could improve, but overall it was a fun platformer! I love those dissolve shaders, emissive materials, and the post processing effects! Made me feel like I was hacking the mainframe through platforming. Great job on the game!

Unstable Magnetic Gun by piw 2021-10-19T03:03:37Z

Very innovative idea. I love the ability to switch the rock's polarity. Such a cool idea, and I feel mixed about being able to push rocks over enemies. It felt like it took away from the magnetic mechanic, because pushing rocks was easier than playing with polarity. But that was a super fun and innovative game and I could see it being magnificent with just a little polish. Great job!

The Land Of The Hungry God by circle 2021-10-08T00:00:54Z

It was very satisfying slowly building up a city and seeing everything grow. This game has a lot to it, and was a lot of fun! This did feel like an extremely ambitious game, and you executed it really well. It's awesome and hope you have the opportunity to keep working on it!

Twin Tails Jetpack by ExpiredPopsicle 2021-10-05T02:33:05Z

Such a fun game and so many levels. I love the character design, and flying around felt extremely satisfying. I really liked the audio as well. Great game!
