Hard and nice game! I highly recommend a controller, too. At first I thought the spring was some kind of fixed on the ground, like in Mario. Later I found it is a buff. After many times falling down the platform in the process of jumping, I finally realized the benefits of publishing Super Mario 3D Land in n3ds.

Nice and challenging platformer style game. I like the visuals and general mood of it but it was difficult to control the robot whilst jumping. The wind up toy is a good idea and fits well with this years theme. Good luck.
@ginger9 I definitely agree about the power ups not being very obvious when you pick them up. I will address that when I get around to updating the game post jam.
@avitt The jumping movement is certainly not the best. I think I may need to tune the camera controls a little more to help with that or make the jumps a little more floaty.
Thanks for trying the game!

Wow, that was great, I loved it! The gameplay works well (I played with a controller) and the graphics and sounds really fit the game. On top of that the levels are well designed and are not too easy! Great job!

Fun game! The jumping was a little floaty, but I played with keyboard+mouse, so maybe a controller would have been better like suggested above. Loved the idea of a windup toy. Awesome graphics!

Great game! The graphics are really stunning!
The first level with the springs I gave up, I guess I am just getting old ;-) The second level (1-2) I made it much further. Really nice, one thing that I was not clear on was how long my timer would go before I ran out of winds. Once it started counting it was running out it was clear however maybe make it count down instead of up to make it clear that when it gets to zero you are done.
Really great work!

those graphics are amaziiiinnnnng! Excellent work on the 3D and the robot animations, they made me chuckle for being too cute! The one thing I have to say : I don't have a controller, and mouse sensitivity is so slow, with the precision of movement on the keyboard, it makes it kinda hard to turn around. Appart that detail, it's great work!

Really nice game! great job!
It's a really good looking game. Really complete with stage selection and everything. It's really hard, especially because it looks like the controls are not emant for mouse so it's really ahrd to control the guy. but it's a really polished plataformer.
Great job!!!
Everything about this was great EXCEPT for the camera controls, which were AWFUL. Otherwise, you did very well!

What I liked: - the graphics are very nice - music and sounds - the game seems to have a lot to offer
What would make me like the game even more: - a better camera control for mouse + keyboard - some sort of sens of what I saw doing there

Please change the Itch.io link to a Windows link, it is not playable on the web. Thanks!
Not gonna hold it against you, but I'm one of those old-school 'Y inverted' players. I only mention it since you had time to make a menu and such it would've been nice to change it.
I played on an Xbox 360 gamepad and the controls were great.
Graphics and audio are top-notch! Kudos on getting all this setup and tested in such a short time!
It took me a while to realized the springs were jumppads and not pickups. They REALLY look like pickups.
A 'death clock' timer would have gone a long way, not just in allowing the player to know how much life they have, but in adding tension to the game.
Brilliant audio-visuals. Winding down; the lights dimming, movement slowing and the sound effects changing; is done really well.
The controls (:keyboard: and :mouse:) aren't terrible, but the camera certainly could use a few tweaks. Mainly, not going inside walls blocking the view.
The big issue for me is that I simply have no time or interest in these *collectathon* type experiences any more (too old!). It is all about 3D platforming (not a fan) with very little reasoning or decision making involved.
The biggest sin, for a gotta-catch-them-all-fest, is resetting the items if you manage to die, which happens constantly in the second level. Collecting everything again all over again, again and again is simply not interesting or fun.
Solid workmanship, the design is not my cup of tea.

This was fantastic! A 3d platformer for a jam is really ambitious. It looks great, and all things considered it plays fairly well - The jumping is a tiny bit janky, but your geometry is somewhat complex so it works pretty well. I agree with the posters above that it was tricky to figure out when your energy is running out and what powerups are doing. Maybe more gui items? Stellar jam game.
I think your strategy of spending the first day fine-tuning the feel of the character and the second adding content worked out really well! I played with a controller, and I thought the camera controls were fine if a little slow, despite what others were saying. There was an impressive range of powerups and content for two days of work.
I heard the winding-down noise over time, but I wasn't sure what would happen if I didn't pick up any cranks, if anything. I also accidentally skipped the tutorial area, but it wasn't difficult to learn the mechanics. The battery, crank, and spring are very clear signals of what the powerups do :)
The graphics are clean and clear, and I was especially pleased by the audio design. Great work!

The camera controls were really awful on mouse and keyboard and I struggled getting past the first level because of it. The look of the game is really nice and I like the aesthetic and concept you went for. Reminds me of Chibi Robo, a favorite from my childhood. The music got pretty repetitive sadly.
I really enjoyed the way the spring powerup worked, there were a couple of cool puzzles designed around that. I also liked the way the player was designed with the buttons on the front, though I think maybe they should have stuck out half as much.
I 100% completed the first level, but couldn't make much headway on the second. If you're controlling with both sticks, then it might be better to jump with the shoulder buttons.
I might be in the minority on this, but an option to invert the camera axes would be appreciated; I'm used to thinking that moving the control up/down/left/right moves the camera rather than the way the player looks.

I really liked the overall game mechanic, really reminiscent of 3D platformers like Mario 64, but with its own style, based around the wind up keys and coins.
Really like the presentation, the visuals are really nice and the audio helps set the mood really well, so great job there!
Controls also worked really nice, when I got around them and the spring mechanic was really intuitive. :)
Couldn't find that last key on the first level though! :P
But Great Job!
