Very good game!

fenix131113 2024-04-16 22:45

Like a paper please! but with demons. Love it, nice job!

aameliebernardd 2024-04-16 22:46

Had some vibes of that's not my neighbor for sure! Do we have any way to use the money? What was the plan if you would have had more time?

lelek-hunor-kadosa 2024-04-16 22:47

I love the atmosphere you created. All Hail The Dark Lord!

istade 2024-04-16 22:53

Interesting concept, took a bit of back and forth to figure out the game play. Art design was very good and reminded me of shin megami tensei. Music was good. Played well on Linux under Lutris/Wine!

milano23 2024-04-16 22:54

Interesting game. I only denied one person per play through and it was the same person with the misspelled name. Everyone else matched. Not sure if i was just lucky or if it was a bug. Nice graphics, music matched the game well. Good job.

@aameliebernardd no way to use the money sadly, it's just supposed to represent your paycheck. we did have a tutorial and some more demons, objects and even tasks planned but we didn't get to it due to some irl stuff (original idea was to add a new task every day, in the span of 5 days/levels)

@istade good to know it works! thank you

@milano23 yeah it's not a bug per say but the way that rolled out ended up being kinda funky

tysm for playing!

Oh nice! I have not even played Papers Please yet, but this instantly reminded me of what I think Papers Please is :D The atmosphere is great, everything feels a little worn down and gritty and the demons themselves are nicely designed. The only thing that i didn't like were the demons taking so long to leave my desk but that of course is only a minor inconvenience. Overall, great job!

I love demons papers please!!

silas-reinagel 2024-04-20 03:45

Fun game! I love the unique art flavor and vision, and the music ROCKS! I want more music like this!

laulau 2024-04-20 06:29

@silas-reinagel thank you! i drew heavy inspiration from The Fragile by NIN, which i listened to a lot before the jam, i recommend "Even Deeper" for a similar vibe.

Great design along with the music, but I couldn't figure out the gameplay. I had no wrong demons all the day - is that OK? Offerings do not seem to do anything - no matter if they are there or not yet, no matter what offerings those are, I can say yes to all demons and receive money after each one. At some point button to open computer broke and I couldn't press it, so I just waited to the end of the shift :eye::eye:

I'll try updated version now to see what changed!

darako 2024-04-20 12:39

@dagunov It's a random chance for a demon to be a fraud, so if you're lucky enough, you won't get any.

Part of the logic to lose/gain money was kinda broken; a wrongful offering was not punished. I fixed a lot of bugs in the 1.1 update, including this and the open computer button.

thank you for playing the game !!

Nice game ! The music was really cool :sunglasses:

After reading the rules, I was expecting the gameplay to be more involved, but I really didn't understand the part about the offerings, first playthrough I practically ignored it and got a score of 2210, tried again but paying attention to them for each demon with valid credentials, and a handful had more items than they asked for but that was it, end score was 2400 something.

There didn't seem to be anything interactive with it, and judging from the above comment I'm guessing there's a random chance the offerings aren't enough and it simply didn't proc.

Maybe a better system than pure random to determine if the demon is a fraud could help to ensure a more consistent experience. Something like you pick a number of fraud in some range as the shift starts, and then you roll the odds but weighted so that it guarantees this number of fraud appears (something like ``isFraud = rand(0,1) > (1 - (nbFraudLeft / nbDemonLeft))`` for example, or if you want a more uniform distribution you can split the demons into N groups and make one fraud per group).

Of course the number of frauds wouldn't be revealed to the player.

As for the difficulty you can do something similar but for the number of discrepancies and how obvious they are, something like only 1 number got picked wrong in the ID would be a lot more difficult than if the ID, expiration date, name, and offerings are all wrong.

Anyhow, even though the game is simple, it feels decently polished and is pleasant to play, you did a great job !

PS: I wouldn't mind an auto skip of the rest of the shift when you finish processing the demons in advance, had to wait a couple minutes the first time hehe)

Interesting spin on the Papers Please game! I got a bit stuck in the UI in the beginning until I figured out what to click on, but the games is very nice! I like the art style a lot and de sounds really fit the theme

jacobingalls 2024-04-23 02:20

Spoopy! I had no idea what I was doing, but I seemed to get all them right. Or did I.... The music was very good and established the mood very quickly. The lighting affects also worked very well with the off-kilter graphics. I had no idea what the other section was that sometimes had junk and the word summon to remind me that you know what the theme was  (I think every game I've played has) Great entry! (Thanks for rating my game too!)

gus-goucher 2024-04-24 02:55

One of the better games I've played so far! Love the visuals, great aesthetic. Gameplay was a little difficult to read initially, but I picked it up pretty quickly. Love the characters, great amount of content and variation for a jam game. Wish it were a little faster paced. Great great job!

simke 2024-04-25 09:47

Is very interesting and pretty fun but I get money even if I do it wrong which confuses me.

ty-victorson 2024-04-28 08:11

Like others have said, it reminded me of papers please even though I haven't played it! Took me a sec to figure out what to do but I got into the swing of things really quick! One gripe I have is (and maybe I just didn't see it while playing) the game suddenly ended I know there was a clock, but I wasn't watching it. Also, I wasn't sure what the baggage area was for, so I just kept checking for sus demons.

The game was a lot of fun!

PS, please post the music from in the level on YouTube or somewhere it was a bop!!
