I got the error "Cannot be opened"on my Mac. It worked fine on my PC. Interesting idea. The instructions were super long, maybe not necessary to be that big?

@david-york Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I have told by others as well that the opening is too long. Perhaps I should have split the story and instructions into two separate parts lol. Will play your game soon!
Very fun game! It looks like we had the same idea as well. Overall, the music was nice and the graphics were very space-ey. 9/10
Very addictive, in the end I was kind of able to mine and get solar at the same time, as I'm right handed it was difficult though as I need to mine in my left (with my right hand) and use the space (with my left hand) in the right of the screen.
It is a great game for aspiring pianists jaja as you need to do multitasking with both hands :)
Thanks for this entry.
This was a fun game! I liked how the player is given the choice of how to delay the asteroid with different tools. I wish there was more to do after a few rounds of gameplay, but I looks and plays good.
@devparty Thank you for the feedback! I'm playing your game right now, and you're right! It's similar to mine but even better :D Good job!
Super fun, I love how you actually become the nuke. The audio is catchy, unique gameplay, honestly super well made.
@muriel Thank you for the detailed feedback! I intentionally designed the mechanics so you could do multiple at the same time :D Was going for a single player overcooked-type feel. And the piano idea sounds great lol
@thedevatlas Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully I'll have time to expand this into a full game with rounds and asteroid waves. Maybe I'm getting too far ahead of myself :sweat_smile:
@markymark Thank you for the kind words!
That was a lot of fun :-) I like how you sell the franticness of the situation mostly through gameplay. (Though music and graphics help a lot too.) The solar beam is difficult to get, though sometimes it seemed easier.
It's a bit of a shame that, when you smash the asteroids to smaller pieces, the smaller pieces _almost_ follow the same trajectory, so most actions actually don't delay the asteroid as much. I tried breaking stuff up into smaller pieces and then deploying the gravity thing, but that didn't seem to do much.
The nuke was cool! Though the first time I could deploy it I lost the game while in nuke mode, so it sort of got stuck until I pressed escape, then I lost my mouse cursor. I thought it was a weird, buggy ending screen at first because of that :-p
@remco Thanks for the feedback and kind words! I tried as much as I could to make the game feel balanced with the abilities but I guess I ended up kind of undervaluing them in the end :sweat_smile:
And thanks for informing me about the nuke bug! That was a scenario I had (for whatever reason) not considered and will be sure to fix soon :grin:
Had a fun time and especially loved the nuke. Could imagine it being expanded if you had more time to use a wider range of approaches and more variety in the asteroids. But for the time given I think this is really cool :)
@dan-smith Glad to know you enjoyed it :)
Solid entry that could use a few mechanical punch ups. Check out my review at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission
Cool concept! Really liked the mini-games you put in to. But for me the energy one seems off (or maybe it is input delay), because when I press exacly on the spot it doesn't register, so it only works when I press it before it touches the bar. Also not sure I got how gravity tractors works, because seems mine doesn't do anything :) Found little bug where you can fill ore when it already filled up Noice you've added seems not fitting for me
Overall good entry, also this game reminds me of games like "Please, don't touch anything"
I had a great time playing/streaming this! I trained my self to pre-empt the solar bar and had no problems afterwards! I think my stiff mech keys made it hard to hit the first play through. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1447965941?t=00h16m44s
@crishnate Thanks for the feedback! I think it was mentioned in the tutorial but the "gravity tractor" attracts small asteroids to it.
@tigerj Thanks again for the awesome stream! :D
Cool game! the artstyle adds a lot to the retro feel of the game and every task in the game is nice and rewarding
@cube-logic Thanks for dropping by!
Thanks for the game. I with instructions were typink like "you click - it finishes the text output and you need 2nd click to go next page instead of going to next page of text, skipping slow-typing text"
"I lie awake, just to hear you breathin" aaaaaaa this reminded me so hard of the Armageddon movie! Great and TOUGH! So much to do! Why would the government make ONE person handle ALL of that when the survival of the Earth is in jeopardy? Great, fun, game!
Good entry! I always enjoy these system management games where you have to oversee a lot of small tasks. But I found this one a bit too difficult I think. I know you eventually want to have the asteroids reach the earth causing the player to inevitably lose, but I felt like that happened too fast. each little task required so much precision that I had to devote all my focus to one at a time so it was difficult to prep other weapons or try to prep multiple at the same time, therefore causing me to lose faster. The solar beam minigame also felt a bit too unforgiving as I definitely hit it multiple times when the line was on the bar but it would not register a success, so I think something like that you could give the player a bit more leeway. I loved the UI and post effects though!
@flyingkaida Thanks again for the awesome stream!
@rhoka I think in retrospect it's clear I overestimated the player (as most new developers usually do :sweat:) Perhaps in the next (mobile) iteration I will reduce the values across the board for the abilities. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice entery , love the mini games even when the wheels al little hard to master. I did feel if I did better I could stop the inevitible so i tried to manny times :)
Really fun idea, hindered a bit by the execution. The white line and the tolerance there definitely needs to be bigger.
@senso @yellowkamel Thanks for the feedback! As I said earlier I realize I overestimated the player a bit lol, will definitely upload a more balanced version once the jam is over :D
Hey! really cool game! Almost perfect but I would like to recommend just some minor adjustment: -I think the noise on the screen is a bit set too high -During the tutorial the time should be paused or you are tempted to jump to the game right away But overall the best game I have tested so far!
@kastaff Thank you so much for the kind words! The tutorial was actually made entirely in the last half an hour so it's incredibly rushed :sweat_smile: I'll be sure to upload the fixed version as soon as the jam is over. Glad you enjoyed the game :D
Really cool idea, though I thought a few things were a little more difficult to manage than I wanted. The circles had pretty low contrast and the timing on the solar collector was very very tight. In addition, the really repetitive music made is kind of hard for me to play a long time. I really like the idea and the presentation overall though!
@nardandas Thanks for the feedback! It was my first time ever experimenting with making my own music so I'll definitely try to make longer tracks next time :D
Cool concept, I like how the variety of abilities work together. I had to do the tutorial twice because I didn't expect clicking to skip forward before all the text was on the screen, but otherwise a solid game!
@tetrapteryx Thanks for the feedback!
I liked it, i've seen a few other people with almost this exact game but I like your particular take on it with different weapons/etc. I had some trouble wit charging the solar beam, i had to hit the key almost a full half second before it lined up, once i knew that i could reliably do it, but the graphics didn't line up with the timing at all. I also keep having a hard lock up about 100s in, keeps happening when firing a solar beam.
@raptor851 Thanks for the feedback! I have been told, as it stands, the solar beam is way too hard, which is something I definitely intend to balance once the rating period is over :D
@arihan10 so it's actually not difficulty, if you record and frame step you can actually see the area it counts as a "hit" is in the black area, not on the line, about 10-15 frames before it hits the line. It might just be the way it's handling input that's causing a slight delay.
@raptor851 Ahhh that makes a lot of sense. I suppose a viable way to fix it would be to add an input buffer to compensate for the delay. Thanks so much for the help! :D
Super fun game, I especially like the perspective switch when you use the nukes. But I also had the "Does not work on Mac" error; played it in a Windows VM.
@peter-sc Thanks for the kind words @peter-sc! I've heard the mac issue mentioned a couple of times before :thinking: Not sure why it occurs but I'll definitely try to fix it if I can :D
@Arihan10 it's really weird. You just exported from Unity, right? If you cd into the app bundle on the terminal and chmod +x the binary it *can* run. This shouldn't be necessary, but I have no idea what would cause it to be this way. 🤔
@peter-sc Hmmm I'll definitely try doing that and see what happens. Also yes you're right, I did just export it from Unity, package it into a zip and upload it. Thanks for the help!
The Solar Beam is the bane of my existence; I'm so terrible at getting those sorts of things to line up. Other than that, everything else worked fine.
@bluishgreenpro Thanks for dropping by!
A really cool idea with a lot tools at player's disposal to try to delay the inevitable
Some systems might use a tutorial or a bit of improvement (looking at the solar generator :sweat_smile:). But for a compo -- a very solid job! It looks very nice; sfx, music and humor -- all's there. Great job!
Thanks for coming to my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to refer to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WudvDztkwdg
@caudatecoder Thanks for playing! It was an awesome stream :D
Nice game, please go on!
nice game got scared wen i got the nuke also i cant charge the solar beam its so hard :(
@gamescodedogs @owngamesgamer Thanks for dropping by!
Overall very nice game. Liked the music and sound effects. Encountered couple of bugs though, once the missile got stuck in place, although it did finally explode. Other bug was that ore bar in the right did not fill even though clicking the ore on left side. Good job!
Interesting game. The post-effects are a little bit extreme, but the graphics overall remind me of '60s sci-fi, early Star Trek, with solid colours and sharp edges.
@kuggenhoffen Thanks for the feedback! For the bar to fill, you must press the red "Fill" button. Hope that helps :)
@wfmg Thanks for dropping by! Yes, that is indeed the look I was going for :D
Great compo entry in my opinion. The graphics are nice, the gameplay works and feels responsive, there are sound effects for pretty much everything important! Really great job!
The linux build is broken. It just get's stuck on a static screen whenever I press New Game or Load Game
Thanks for the kind words @lazzor!
@eboatwright Oh wow that sucks! It works on my friend's Linux computer although I'll update the Linux target nonetheless. Hope you can try it on a Windows VM if it still doesn't work!
@arihan10 Alrighty! :smile:
The tutorial did not tell my how to get the resources, most action can not operate becuase of lack of resources. A how-to-play is need to enjoy the game.
@guoboism Hi there! How to get the resources was explained in the tutorial but I understand it can be difficult to visualize the instructions :( Please allow me the courtesy of walking you through the game!
To "Nuke", you need 15 ore. Mine uranium by clicking the circles in the bottom-left "green" box, and then "fill" it by clicking the red "FILL" button in the ore tank in the far-right.
Missiles auto-replenish their resources over time (Steel).
To use the Solar Beam, you need 10 MWs of energy. To get this energy, simply line up the moving green line with the white one and press space! Each successful lineup is +1 MW.
As for the Gravity Tractors, their cost changes after each use, and is labelled beneath the button.
I really hope you can give it another try and please let me know if this helped! :D
@arihan10 Thanks, I will try again
Hey nice game! A bit overwhelming at first. The solar beam space bar felt very difficult to use and a bit frustrating to see the bars going down :D Nice game ideas though! Art is very nice and music feels appropriate. Good humor. The linux build worked okay for me by the way!
@nyxkn Thank you for the kind words! Glad to know the Linux build worked for you :D
Nice Job! that Planet strategy Game
Nice one! I would go easier on post process effects, boom in particular. Also the game freezes sometimes when I use the sun beam :D but a great entry otherwise!
PS: I'm tweeting about the games I play from this jam. Here is your: https://twitter.com/TheAntonSem/status/1516083891735564294
@antonsem Thanks for playing! The solar beam freezing bug is known but hard to reproduce. Will probably fix it once the jam is over :D
Love this game!! (feel like I learned some physics from this game...) The solar generator part is so hard that it made me so excited when finally shooting the beam...Great work!
Neat game! It's cool trying to balance using all of the resources of once, I can't believe how hard of a time I had with the solar generation when I was trying to multitask! The first person nuke is a fun idea as well.
@roccay @animawish Thanks for the kind words! Glad to know you had a fun time :D
Capture.PNG Cool game
This was a great entry! Took a while to get used to but it was really fun.
Things I liked: The graphics were superb, really loved the models that you used & also the filter over the screen. The music wasn't annoyingly repetitive (given that each playthrough is relatively short. The UI was really easy to use/understand (maybe it could be better with keyboard macros for each button the player can press? Unless that would make it too easy?) The game fit the theme perfectly.
Things I didn't like: The music had a gap between the end of the loop and the start of the next. The text box wasn't satisfying to click, so the tutorial felt too long each time. The timer starts even when going through the tutorial which for the first playthrough was stressing me out that I might die before I finished the tutorial lol.
@Fatsheep Thanks for playing!
@poontangular Thank you for the feedback! It was my first time experimenting with music so I understand if it has a ton of issues :sweat_smile: The tutorial was also quite rushed, I basically created it entirely during the submission time so it can be quite crude. Glad you were able to enjoy :D
Cool game. Quite addictive too :) The game mechanics are fun to play around. I got 115 as my best attempt. Good job with the game!
This is really really impressive for the jam in general, even more so as a compo, nice job!
The only thing that frustrated me at first was that nothing felt very impactful against the asteroid. Even when I split them into tons of tiny pieces with the solar beam, those pieces were just new hazards that could end my game. Then obviously I realized :bulb: oh yeah, inevitable. It's a great fit for the theme. If you had any plans to continue this into a full game (and I think you could, this is a really good base), my opinion would be to go for a game you can win. The weapons could drive asteroids back further, or could actually destroy small pieces so they aren't a threat anymore.
After realizing that breaking the asteroid into more pieces maybe wasn't in my best interest, I tried just using gravity tractors behind the asteroid to slow it down. The first one I placed behind it, I noticed actually nudge the asteroid forward. So the next few I placed just in front of the asteroid and it would sometimes get pushed back. I ended up using them as just physical obstacles and got my best score of 130 lol. No blame on you for that, that's me poking around and exploiting haha.
@mhorth Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback! One of my biggest regrets is how little the weapons impact the asteroids :( After the jam finishes tomorrow, I'll definitely be uploading a much more balanced version! The "destroy after size" idea is great and I actually had implemented it initially, but realized it's then possible to thwart the asteroid's impact entirely :sweat_smile:
Btw congrats on the 130! Beats my personal best of 128 :D I believe another streamer once got a score of 150 by exploiting the tractors lol
The tractor was definitely the hardest to fill - the timing is very tricky, it seems that you need to press space just before when it seems like you're supposed to. Reducing power when you miss is punishing and it gives the player the impression that it's not doing anything, so better feedback would definitely help. I like the concept though, where the player is overwhelmed by trying to do a lot of things at once, if the different elements were more intuitive (or having a difficulty ramp up) it would work really well.
It kind of reminded me of a single-player version of Spaceteam. My high score was 134.
Once I figured out how to make use of everything, I found myself preparing a lot of ore and energy. Nukes, then missiles? Solar beams, then gravity wells?
I found the game dynamics compelling, but I struggled with the visuals. The bloomy static made me feel like I needed to squint, and I got a bit of a headache.
When I launched the nuke, I liked the 1st person view (a little jarring the first time), but unfortunately if I missed...I didn't know how to get back to normal view, and I didn't seem to have a lot of degrees of freedom in terms of turning, so I couldn't seem to hit the meteor or anything.
Cool idea, and great implementation!
@gbgames Thanks for the feedback!
