2:59 local time (compo ends at 3:00), no time for screenshots, I have to publish this :D

Edit: Oh seems like I still have an hour... :D

I liked this a lot. It was really fun, and there's a lot of room to make this even better.

Suggestions:

Adding audio for a sense of weapon feel, as well as a way to tell your damaging enemies (sparks flying off, health bar, hit marker, etc)

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I agree with mark-kennedy, not enough feedback in the gameplay, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this. Good job!

A nice action-packed arcady game. Controls could use a bit more love... And I had some wierd phisics going on when my bot got dropped on one side and was still perfectly mobile.

Pros: Like how you kind of create your own game as a player with changing your setup influencing the enemys. Cons: no sound, glitchy things happening

prostone 2017-12-08 00:41

No audio is a bummer as said already. Every game I kinda rotated on the tank side and while still perfectly able to play it looks weird and kind breaks any immersion the game had. Graphics area pretty good and shatter effects are awesome.

Also didn't want to be that guy, but there is no source for your game or at least I could not find it. Since it is a compo game source for your game must be included (refer to https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules)

Very nice concept, i too missed the feedback(audio/ visual) when you hit the enemy and when lose health but i really enjoyed it. Keep the good work!

lazzor 2017-12-08 00:52

@Prostone Wow sorry, I guess I was too tired to notice then. Thanks, I'll upload the source now!

alottabit 2017-12-08 01:03

Really love the idea, it was fun to play for a bit. The lack of audio and graphical effects are rough - it's hard to tell when you're being shot and if your bullets are hitting enemies.

byron-bowen 2017-12-08 01:42

The fire button doesn't work if you press it while you are driving - you can start driving while you are firing and keep firing while driving, but you cannot start firing while driving.

I could be wrong, but I think source means just the scripts and nonpublic libraries, not your entire Unity project.

Way too fast for me personally. It doesn't really feel like any rel tactical play, i guess if the enemy were slower and i could "kite" them, that would feel better. But it's pretty clear that you fokused on the graphics and you did a great job on those!

atmospherium 2017-12-14 00:00

Definitely like the core of what you have here. High points are the destruction effects and the lighting. I felt the controls weren't quite intuitive (it was easy to lose sight of what was forward or to get hidden behind a wall), but those concerns aside it felt pretty polished for a jam game.

piscythe 2017-12-14 02:06

I don't know if it's my relative inexperience with 3d gaming acting on me, but I really had trouble getting the hang of the controls for this. Honestly I found myself wishing for a top-down perspective. Though the models look nice, I found that, like others have said, there wasn't all that much pulling me into the experience. With the lack of sound and "juice" I felt more like I was watching on a screen than involved in the action. The ideas here are excellent, but I just wasn't able to get engaged with this one. Still, good work!

I enjoyed playing this game, it was a fun and nifty little experience. The core idea of selectively customizing and upgrading was a lot of fun, and having the difficulty change was great. The controls were slightly confusing at first, but soon I got the hang of it and was going quite fine. I would have liked to hear some sound, even just gunshot or explosions so I could hear if anyone was around me, and if you do continue this game I honestly think having a really cheesy over-the-top announcer would be a lot of fun, just to add some humor (although that is merely a suggestion, not a complaint). I also had a slight issue with the fact that the enemies were so much stronger than you, torque wise, not gunpower wise. I felt like them pushing me around everywhere was slightly unfair and with the slightly confusing controls I just kept being shoved with no escape, and caught in an endless spin. All that aside however it was a really enjoyable game, and a great Compo game, well done.

Also is this supposed to happen? I flipped upside down for no reason and could still drive 2017-12-14.png

lazzor 2017-12-14 21:03

Flipping upside down without a reason should not happen, however flipping upside down because an enemy pushed you can happen. And well, if you happen to be flipped you should not be able to drive anymore but thanks to my poor movement programming skills you still can... :D

I already fixed some of the above mentioned flaws but only on my local build. Maybe after the competition is over, I'll add a link to a newer version.

Tanky-robot-shooty-shooty, had some fun with this one. The basic controls and mechanics are designed well enough, but there are some technical foibles on the way to greatness.

First, the camera is often blocked by walls making aiming a blind gamble. Either it should move towards the tank or the wall should become translucent. Another issue is the tank tilting to its side when colliding with enemies, rigidbody constraints should fix that issue.

Audio! Where is it? Bending metal, explosions, the death screams of electric brains! The mood is utterly lost. The 3D models are well made, yet the overall look is too gray for me. More particles for everything would be an improvement too.

Good effort, ok implementation. Far from polished unfortunately.
