Fun experimental game! Loved the top view, Gungeon, style game play along with the delivery to a weird dude. It took a bit to get a handle on but once I did it was fun! One critique, you used the unity slider for the progress meter and the player can just left click to move it to the end. If you avoid that though the game is a fun challenge!

***MEAT SWEATS***. Amazing! I wasn't expecting the sauce boss, and it was clearly the one thing that was missing from my life. I'm a bit unclear on how the napkins thing works... I go to tables and use my fork to... steal napkins from customers? Wonderful theme, fun audio, cute art. Possibly my favorite of the 10-ish games I've tried so far.

uppitydonkey57 2023-05-03 00:12

I like the idea! I love the idea of assisting someone in an eating challenge. However I wish that the game had a better tutorial. I had trouble remembering all the info, especially since some of the icons are different from the tutorial to the game.

obe-dot 2023-05-03 00:13

Looks great! Really fun and well put together.

carkh 2023-05-03 00:19

Took a while to understand where to find the items. Forks could be a bit faster. Loosely related to the theme. But still fun !

partysquadmember 2023-05-03 00:53

Interesting game, bit of a learning curve but works as intended!

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 04:41

@anguium Definitely did not know that about the sliders!!

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 04:42

@guardaro Glad you enjoyed it!!

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 04:44

@uppitydonkey57 @carkh @partysquadmember

We definitely wanted to make a slappin' tutorial but we ran outta time big time lol thank you all for sticking it out and figuring out the mechanics, much appreciated :)

shooting-star 2023-05-03 15:23

interesting game, was fun playing it !

spicymarcus 2023-05-03 15:28

Really nice game, it was good fun and I loved the art. Great job!

Meat Sweats is just so powerful of a name.

Really great entry! I kept me on my toes and engaged the whole time. Each minigame was fairly intuitive; however, I wish the rooms appeared in the same order as their item counterpart (ergo, drink minigame on the left, napkins down and in the middle, sauce to the right). That is my only real complain, everything else was great!

bitdecay 2023-05-03 15:33

It took me a long time to realize that I had to fight the sauce boss to get sauce. I was trying to collect things off the shelf. A cool game with fun art to compliment it well. The only recommendation I'd have for the art side of things is to maybe desaturate the things that aren't part of the gameplay. The floor tiles are quite 'loud' visually and the sauce area had me convinced that I was trying to get certain things off of the shelves. I have yet to get him to complete the meat sweats challenge... but I've gotten close.

resacagames 2023-05-03 15:33

Awesome entry!!! Pixel art was on point, the gameloop was satisfying with the different "minigames"... I also've been seeing some youtube videos with a bearded eater that made me like the premise. Excellent work!!! 👍👏

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 15:47

@glove Genius we both saw this comment and were like of course we should aligned the rooms... We blame the "jam brain" for not thinking of this before hand!

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 15:49

@bitdecay haha as the artist I agree, the floor tiles are loud as hell, especially the black/white ones. If we tune the game at all after this I will definitely tone it down a bit :) thanks for playing!

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 15:50

@resacagames hehe you may have stumbled into our inspiration for our Mr.Beard

aloya 2023-05-03 15:56

Hmm, I think I like it xoxo)

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 16:08

@aloya haha best comment ever, we think we like you too! Thanks for playing :)

blazerdom 2023-05-03 17:25

Good game with a fun challenge. I have 53 seconds left on the first playthrough and 1 minute 43 seconds on the second

nrankin13 2023-05-03 21:48

I enjoyed this. Saucy the Sauce-Bottle has some weird firing mechanics, but other than that, great work.

I would also like a slightly larger magnetic field for the napkins. Like, if I give people their fork or knife, I should basically be able to get napkins almost instantly.

eyedromeda 2023-05-03 21:56

Very cool game! The graphics were really nice, although I think the floor had a little too much contrast and made it hard to see. The info dump at the start was a little discouraging, but I totally understand that this concept would be a lot more difficult, and require a lot more work to explain in a more interactive way. It took a little time to understand how I was actually supposed to gather the supplies, but I got it eventually. All in all, it's quite a fun game, good work!

gmstochetto 2023-05-03 22:20

I liked the game, didn't find any bugs, the art looks cool, I liked the mix of a fast-food restaurant environment with a dungeon. In my opinion, the game has a fair difficulty level, it's a bit hard to dodge the sauce projectiles, but I managed to come up with a strategy. At first, it was a bit difficult to understand exactly what I needed to do, but as I played more, I got the hang of it. It's a fun game.

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 22:37

@eyedromeda you aren't alone on the contrast sentiment - we might have to push a "eye-saver update" for the people. And yes we swung big on this one (for our ability at least) so it would have been nice to have alittle interactive tutorial because there is a lot going on, especially for your first day on the job! Thanks for the great feedback :)

diego-escalante 2023-05-04 06:00

Fun and hectic. I was a little confused at how to get some of the items at the beginning so I lost a lot of time and failed my first attempt. Second attempt went much better!

pazzi 2023-05-04 08:06

This is one of my favorite entries thus far! The difficulty is extremely well-balanced and allows for different playstyles....I'm blown away with how perfect the balance is! It took me 3-4 playthroughs, each progressively easier as I figure out patterns and optimize my route/strategy... This is by far the best-designed game I've played in this Jam (I've still a ways to go though haha)! Not to mention I really enjoy the vibe and aesthetics- the dude really looks like furious Pete xD Awesome entry! yay.PNG

hcs-hades 2023-05-04 14:45

@pazzi Thanks for the positive feedback - so happy you enjoyed a few playthroughs! Mr. Beard is based off a real competitive eater but wasn't Furious Pete haha!

sylf 2023-05-04 19:32

It seems a bit easy at first, but it keeps growing on you. I really liked all those visual ideas like big eating head and sauce bottle. With this small map it has a diverse set of different gameplay features - each room has it`s own approach and a small game mechanic in it`s core. Overall, it was really fun to play! And a bit challenging – which is good as well!

thatmisterm 2023-05-04 19:37

Really enjoyed this game, I like how each resource has it's own mini-game to obtain and the game is a panic-filled balancing act, great work!

misterkeefe 2023-05-04 19:37

This was fantastic - really enjoyed the absurdity of the gameplay. I started out throwing napkins at a giant face from a youtube tutorial, 30 seconds later I'm trying to shiv a sentient bottle of sauce in a stock room bullet hell. The art style is really nice and the action roguelike gameplay is crisp and fun. Overall just a wonderful entry!

Regrettably, Mr. Beard did not win the Meat Sweats challenge.

dexort 2023-05-04 19:45

This is brilliant. I have no complaints. Great game, cute style and sounds, very fun to play. Wish i had this t-shirt

hcs-hades 2023-05-04 22:47

@sylf @thatmisterm @misterkeefe Thank you all for the positive words - it really does mean a lot. It really is comments like these that make it worth the 3 days in a dark game dungeon with my counterpart Jesse.

hcs-hades 2023-05-04 22:48

@dexort haha we are seriously considering making a few :)

misterkeefe 2023-05-05 07:12

@hcs-hades please let me know if you do make a t-shirt because I also wish I had one

cheaptoads 2023-05-05 16:07

hilarious idea! there is a lot to get a handle on vis a vis the number of controls, but the movement of the player sprite feels great.

purpledartfrog 2023-05-05 17:59

Actually quite a lot of things to keep track of ... impressive entry for that short amount of time. Kinda the same sort of feel as the gfx of my entry ... well at least to me. Really good job with this one ... and everything seemed to play smoothly :thumbsup_tone1:

nazorus 2023-05-06 08:37

Great game! It was fun going back and forth and doing those mini-challenges to get items. Having to mug customers to get napkins cracked me up.

Pixel art and music were really solid, and the gameplay feels nice and responsive. I just wish I could swap weapons with the mouse wheel but that's just personal preference.

Good job on this entry J and N!

rookrules 2023-05-07 02:26

the only thing I didn't like is getting the soda, it felt like it was the hardest thing to get (that's just me though) 4/5

ategon 2023-05-07 05:13

Thanks for submitting your game to be played on the stream! If you wanted to watch my reaction again here's the vod timestamped to your game https://youtu.be/iOvkquUaMjs?t=9940

dx-diar 2023-05-07 18:53

very nice game i like it

mitur 2023-05-08 19:17

A fun game, I like the visual style :)

phoenix-fireflower 2023-05-08 19:50

Nice spin on the theme. You've managed to create different, crazy challenges that form one coherent, fun experience.

knatt 2023-05-16 01:22

Nice entry! I liked how you put clues to where each component of the delivery was, and that each room had a separate challenge. The graphics were also very charming. Congratulations.

gamescodedogs 2023-05-19 06:22

Fantastic art style. I really enjoyed game mood and visuals. Well done, and thank you for the game. 5/5

spicyshiba 2023-05-19 23:27

Really solid entry. It felt smooth and easy to get into
