@dovahkciin hey, thanks! We wanted to compile it for html5, but had no time, unfortunately =(
Wasn't able to find any monsters, but successfully shot myself couple times. Very confusing game after all. I believe it required more playtesing.
It's a bit confusing at first, but overhaul a nice game. Needs more polish and tutorial, but still. For now played you game more than any other. =)
heck, this is kinda game I would love to see as winner! I'm a musician myself, and hell this is a clever idea! Just make player play on simple scale that will work anyway and (I assume) with slight delay to fit the chord to upcoming note... Or even if it's a mistake, I think it's very simple and clever idea, just jelous that I didn't come up with that =D Great visuals and overhaul such a nice and polished beautiful game! Very pleased, feels like I really jamming with friends - great feeling. I'll keep it on my PC and hope that it is not the end. I think it can became more than just this demo. And I definitely will be waiting for it. Best luck!
LOVED the game, it is so much fun to play! Enemies are too cute, felt bad hurting them :( Will appreciate if you will leave opinion on my game as well)
Your game reminded me of our previous project. Loved those pixel graphics. Game is nice, HP bar would be nice next time)
Nice idia, but weak implementation. Some thougths: - Set the camera way back. Tape must be long, not wide. Maybe turn gameplay to left-to-right scroller, or put hud to the left and right of the tape. - Slow down incoming things. - Sync you fire to the beat, vary the layers
Thank you for your game, I had a great pleasure. Very original concept, but for me it was a bit challenging because I'm not a native English speaker and don't type that much in English. But I tried to keep up and had fun :)
Great game! Kinda creepy, but beautiful. I liked the gameplay idea, I hope I come out with something that original next time.
Very nice game! Cool graphics, some music would be nice. Thank you, I had fun.
That was kinda hard for me to play that game because I'm very impressionable. But still, a game is good, althouh I couldn't save the boyfriend and decided the girl needs to move on. Or I'm just too dumb ^__^
I didn't really get what I had to do, some hints in the game would help. Still thank you for your work!
Very cool! Loved the game, will recommend.
@pierrens We were heavilly inspired by GTA, so you guessed right ;)
@Skiwee Thanks for feedback! I didn't have enough time for SFX and other stuff. Barelly made it in time, had to go to work on monday =( But still, we're happy about how that game turned out for our effort. Still are many things to add, but I'm satisfied
@fc85057 thanks a lot! Coding and tweaking forklift driving took most of the time. This is exactly what I focused on, I'm glad you appreciated it! =D
@henrik-ganard Well, thanks! It's pleasure to hear that) At start you need to take red box to the left of you and bring it to the red area in the right side of warehouse. To take or put boxes you need to be fully stoped. Hope you'll enjoy the rest of the game! =)
@c42 hey, thanks! This was unexpected =D I'm glad you've liked the controls. The thing about collisions... I've not used any physics engine, library (like box2d) or standart GM motion functions. All physics and collisions was writen by hand, so I had quite hard time fixing problems. Not all of them i've managed to fix, but had to stop somewhere... At least the game is not freezing in limbo right now, so that's a good thing i guess XD
@tauheed-game-dev thank, glad you enjoy)
@watermelonandme oh, thanks! We very appreciate it!
@n8dev hey! We couldn't find an issue, but anyway - I just recompiled the project on GMS-2, so you now can play our game for sure. Also, it's a big performance boost for the game, so hope you'll return and try it!
@n8dev we're really glad to here it! So many nice comments from people enjoying what we've done. Shure, we play your game as well! =)
@redunca hahaha thanks a lot XD I'm working for one of the biggest companies with one of the biggest warehouses in my city as a Database Administrator. So I used to see this forklift races time to time, very funny comment =D
@endeavour2150 thanks for feedback! Sure, played myself a lot and it feels like it needs something that could bring it closer to racing game. Like oponents, racetrack with obstacles. The original idea was to record anouncments and comment on player's actions like in some stupid tv show. I think' it has it's potential)
@kirstu thanks a lot! Heart warming to see all those comments about forklift handling) And yeah, the map was kinda rushed, so it may be buggy or confusing. Most of the time I spend tweaking movement code. And I strongly agree about more action and fast-pace gameplay. That was an initial idea, but we didn't have enough time. But I'm looking forvard to develop it further. ;)
@BabyKing @wolfier Thanks! =D
I'm not using any 3d functions. It's all 2d. For the shelves and non-movable boxes: no, there are no 5 instances, just one per object. It all happening in draw event. I have 2 scripts calculating upper points of boxes depending on distance from the center of view to the actual coordinates of corner points of an object. Then another script draws the box from 5 primitives based on those calculated points. And movable objects, like boxes, wheels and the forklift itself - made using a tehnique called Sprite stacking. Basically, I did not used any real 3d and any real physics. I don't know, why tho. Maybe dont felt like it at the time)
@sophiemae0 thanks for the feedback! I think that this kind of controls highly depends on players initial expirience. My girl was struggling too at first, cause she is not used to this kind of games, but as she played more - she became to learn more and did better job handling the forklift. Friends, who had an expirience - had no problems, but I think the game anyway needs a tutorial or training stage.
@Animaster thanks)
@shay-cichocki glad to hear it, thanks! My girlfriend did most of graphics, so big thanks to her! <3
@testuser ahaha that's funny =D. About camera - camera follows the movement of lift, noticeable but not too much. Tested this a lot. Forklift rotating very fast, so I picked the middleground for camera where it was managable and still not nauseating. Thanks for the feedback)
@sayuri thanks) Yeah, game needs more variety, we didn't have enough time unfortunately =( Focused more on visual aesthetic and driving physics.
You should start playing other people's games, rating them and giving them feedback, otherwise too few people will see your game!
Dated cat lady, no regrets. The game is great, by the way.
Great game! Had a lot of fun fighting enemies. I will to return to your game later and will try to finish it with great pleasure. I think you really like what you do and it reflects in your game. Wish you all the best!
Fun game, the visuals and music are nice. Simple and clear gameplay. The characters are adorable.
And now I'm leaving to make soup.
Really liked the game, it is beautiful and simple to play. Will continue on a story later.
hey! Very nice work, man! Game looks and sounds simplistic but effective. Nice controls and great idea for having to constantly upgrade. Played this more then any game so long) Few things found: - you can stuck on ledges of platforms time to time - enemy hits himself (but it looks kinda funny =D) - you can play just farming first coin, maybe you can remove it after showing the concept of upgrades to player - as mentioned above, balance somewhat shifted, but this kind of things are expected. It has it's potential, i think game could work nicely on mobile platforms)
The game is OK, I had fun playing it. The gameplay is challenging and original. Was a little disappointed that I didn't have a flashlight.
I liked the game. I think it will make a good phone game. Relaxing and yet challenging. Graphics are very juicy, music is nice too.
Thank you, I had fun! A bit too fast for me, but who doen't like the challenge?
Thank you, keep up the good work!
One of the best games so far, keep up a good work! It was my pleasure to give you high scores.
Great idea, but couldn't play the game much. It's hard to see what is going on. The vehicle is hard co control, cause there is hardly any sence of speed and direction.
Very nice game, the style is fantastic. Overall the project looks solid and original.
The game is ok, it looks good. The story is also nice, but you could have done something more interesting for the interactions.
Nice game, pleasing to look at. Nice low-poly models and overhaul mood. Why don't you want people to rate your graphics? Simple (though i had the same bug), nice looking, nice work! =)
Ohhh man, I felt that! Kinda. I think I shouldn't say more, but we are in this kinda situation right now. Couldn't get past the third round of claps. Very curious what would happen next, but I just can't do it. Damn, just like in real life... Solid mood. Good voice sound.
Now THAT is a jam submission! Simple but effective graphics, nice cute sounds, simple and solid controls and that is the most fun game I've played so far! It's so simple but yet so addictive! Great work man, I've nothing to complain about, I guess =D
At first controls feels awkward, BUT THEEEN!!! God I loved drifting 20 miles in single turn to deliver some boxex) Simple but solid style. Expirienced some texture fighting or idk maybe it's pixel shader doing it's thing. Good submission.
Controls only by left stick is a bumer. Nice concept, nice artstyle. Car feels like a toy, but as a toy it bumps into every curb, which is painfull sometimes.
Hey nice submission. Had fun playing it, had some laughts because of the horn sound =D Cute style. Some critique. 1. Controls should be more consistent imo. It's confusing sometimes to switch between cart and legs. 2. Sprite size should be more consistent (pixel size I mean) but direction is good. 3. Interface sometimes gets in the way, it's not very comfortable when you are overwhelmed.
Good luck!
@cdunham yeah I definetly can understand! You did a great work. Gamejams are hard) Best luck!
Great game! Managed to squeeze through the fence and fight the taxing-ball-busting-metal-ass-kicking bastards. Glory to USA God bless. 5/5 starts and stripes
Solid game! Have fun playing it! Great artstyle, city feels alive, thanks to little people sprites running around. Very good animations. Excelent details) Would be cool if the game increased in dificulty over time, but anyway it was fun! Extra points from me for original soundtrack. It's kinda funny, but just the fact that you made it at all - already deserves respect.
That's very funny! It has some strategic thinking potential. Sprites look cute, sounds are nice and cute, pretty simple but fun to play! You sould add more screenshots or some promo at this page to get more people to play it! Good luck!
Fantastic!
Excelent game! Damn it's fun. Only problems I had with camera, hitboxes of iron bridges and the chromatic abberation was excesive IMO. But that is great work you did there.
Nice! It invokes something in me, I think, and I like it! How did you do this car physics? It feels very much different from standard unity vehicle type of controller. Camera work and overhaull feel reminded me of my own camera feel in my game =D I did the physics very differently tho, but we went in the same direction of making something fun to control and feel. You did a great job in that!
@liven oh, yes it happens on some machines =( I don't know why tho. Restarting a couple times usually solves this problem. Thanks for you answer!
Great!!! Much fun! No complaints besides maybe mouse control for this kind of actions in this perspective. Is a bit awkward at first, but nevertheless - excellent submission. Great artstyle, colors and animations, fun and balanced gameplay, cute music and sounds and overhaul solid presentation!
I imagine it will play excellently with buddies on a couch 1v1. Kinda reminded me of Bushido Blade 2 on PS1 =D
Wish I could add this somewhere to my library of cute little games to not lose it sometime in a future...
@codexzier yeah i know, wish I had more time) Map after the forest is very empty and boring. My bad, I was fixing a game ruining bug after I uploaded my game, but when I posted this I just realized that half of my obstacles was gone... It felt not fair to fix this after a submission hour, so I kept it as it is. Maybe I should fix this, idk. Anyway thanks for playing and commenting!
@rjdrag thanks! Yeah, I didn't consider to work on a problem of changing gamepads, cause it would take so much time and testing for the problem, that fixes itself by restarting a game, but will happen in pretty specific conditions. I wanted to include so much more features and atmosphere, even started to work on a dynamic reactive sound system, but just hadn't got much time, so here we are =D
@devez yeah! Exactly! As i was testing on a test terrain with more height difference, it felt so much more fun! Feeling of speed is so much better with hills and valleys. I've got distracted and made this level half-baked, so I dug my own grave here... Thanks for playing and for your comment, tho!
@ciderpunk i think I can get some more work done on it in coming weeks and submit it in Extra category. If i'll have a time for this, I'll do it. Thanks for your suggestion! =D
@ciderpunk I won't of course =D I'm just thinking about maybe finishing it in spare time. I have much more ambitious ideas in my head and in development, but this game seems just right in scope to be the first game to actually release. Maybe I'm biting more than I can chew again, tho... It's existential as always =D
@hanaindiana yea! I also thought that it would be cool to roam around in open world or just open sandbox locations. Thanks)
@afroant Thanks for playing! Yea this dude hella dancer =D
@darchankaen Thanks, I'll consider it)
@liven It happens on some machines, idk why, you can try restarting whole game, I heard it helps)
@peachtreemcgee thanks! Yeah I started to see more and more people complaining about that bug at the start. I'll check that out later today and maybe upload fixed version. It was not a problem on my machine, but I should test it more, so more people could play.
@chusmimax thanks for the tip! Yeah it seems nobody makes their menus use the controller. And majority of jammers don't make a way to properly close their game. It can be easily overlooked. I think, next time I should implement it right at the start of the project - good practice.
@rocket-and-blanky thanks! I made sled sound somewhat dynamic with layers, I'm glad you appreciated it)
@rocket-and-blanky oh, it's simple. Just two layers of snowboard sliding on hard snow. One with emphasis on high freqs and deep low-cut for slow riding and just starting. When you build up speed, the second layer opens gradually. It has more lower freqs and highs are suppressed to not conflict with 1st layer. Volume is controlled by 2 curves depending on the speed of the rider. I had a much bigger plan for the sounds in my head, but I didn't have time for that... I started to write ost for this, made some atmosphere sounds (one of the winds is somewhat present now in game, you can just hear it), dynamic dog barking, but just didn't have enough time, unfortunately. I've been making music and sounds for like 9-10 years now and always wanted to represent my skill in these jams, but I focus more on gameplay and feel, and usualy become swallowed by bug fixing and tweaking. Sound makes so much for the game, it's often overlooked and underappreciated... Too bad I'm now part of this, albeit by accident =D
@rocket-and-blanky you're welcome! Glad to help)
@iqoribou try latest download, it should be fixed now. Also, try holding W while pressing start, it helped some people.
@tyler-m thanks! I hope I'll do)
@digx7 yeah you can tell that was pretty much the point) Objective is to have fun as you wish. Take it as a sandbox. Sorta like a tech demo. But the goal is to go towards the Sun, so just forward. =D
@profugo-barbatus yeah, as a Russian dude, I like myself some snow and forest too. I lived in a forest till i was 21) Glad you had fun expirience, thanks for the review!
@jin9310 thanks! Very pleased to hear) I didn't have time to set the author time, but it's around 170-190, i don't remember. Good job you too =D
@yuriscat thanks, glad you've enjoyed! @stellarr2 god damn you've written a whole review here! Thanks alot! About navigation, yeah you're right in the sense of there's not very clear direction. And it is because I didn't have much time. I don't want to make markers or compas just in ui intentionally. I'm personally just tired of how much ui elements in certain games nowadays. I follow this philosophy - if you can make some indication diagetic - you do it that way. This time I've failed at it, but it's ok, let this be a tech demo, I glad that I've done just this much at all =D Thanks for the detailed review!
Nice little game! Orbiting planets are cool. Controls are kinda hard, but I guess it's like in old days of arcade machines. Nice music theme, cute sounds. Pretty fun to play, but a bit hard =D Some critique: 1. There is some lag on my machine. I have a pretty good windows pc, but it kinda struggles. 2. Sprite size is inconsistent, but overall direction is nice. 3. It's hard to aim with this control scheme. 4. You can't really read the dialog while piloting, but I guess you don't really need to.
Need to say this - piloting with right hand and managing jobs with left felt weird at first (tab and y/n keys are pretty far apart). BUT it gave me a great feeling of being a busy pilot (or minibus driver in Russia ahaha)
I can't play this. The truck starts driving backwards and steering right as soon as I start. Nothing helps. Tried keyboard and xbox controller. Restarted, checked my devices - still can't play. Played for some time on keyboard holding right trigger and left stick on my xbox gamepad simultaneously =D. Nice sound. Don't know if it's intentional, but music getting more intensive when time runs out - is wery nice detail. Grammar could be better, but who am I to judge, being Russian myself =D. If you manage to fix this bug I wouldn't mind trying game again.
This is brilliant. I have no complaints. Great game, cute style and sounds, very fun to play. Wish i had this t-shirt
Nice game. But was not so clear how to play for the first couple times. Was confused, why instruments are not appearing. Later realized, that pushing is not for cosmetics. Nice art style!
Artworks are beautiful! And hey, nice voice acting! It always has room to improve, but that's a good start! Some tips for improving the controls and feel.
You should bring the camera back and make 2 game objects, parented to crow. First, roughly at the desired camera position. Second - slightly in front of the crow. Unparent camera from everything. Let the camera's position Lerp to 1st game object position with time and let the camera "lookAt" 2nd point - boom, you have a cool following camera! Also you can lerp angle between the camera and the crow, so that it can roll properly.
If you give the crow some inertia and set steering angle to gradually increase while button is held - boom, you have fluent flight mechanics! Sterring the crow now was somewhat hard, but collisions seems to be missing somehow, i think, so I finished the game without any problems =D
Great work, team! =D
@rocket-and-blanky I have something for you. Idk just felt some inspiration and made this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5WydkdQho2BtKi6CcvSFrPRBzz0DyYa/view?usp=share_link
@blanky-and-rocket glad to hear) I wanted to make the second song too, but it's allmost 4 in the morning where I live, so it's about time to go to bed) You can use it, if you want, I'd be happy, if you only mention me somewhere in credits) If I'll have some free time tomorrow, I can try to remake your second song, but no promises. Just beware, so it might be unfair to use this music in actual jam build, so you better make a note somewhere, that it was made post-jam. From Russia with love, your Dexort. =D
Good submission! Timings are kinda hard, but i guess it was intended. That system, that tries to prevent me from falling into pits, in some places just got in my way and I couldn't dash multiple times, not getting why won't it let me. Also, when you're running down, you see less of what is in front of you because of hud getting in the way. Besides that - that was pretty fun to play. Music is catchy, artstyle is nice!
Great expirience! Some suggestions: 1. Get rid of bipolar filtering - it blures pixels in fullscreen mode. 2. It would be cool if your hp lowers when you out of food, not an instadeath. Besides that - excelent submission. Artstyle especially. Is this OST original? If that is the case i suggest you add it in credits here)
The Best. Sound, graphics, speed - all was ENOUGH.
Good game! It would be even cooler, if projectile attacks was telegraphed somehow.
Either I don't understand how, or you can't chain more than one sweep while flying down. This would be so cool! Anyway, it's a great first submission, man! Join us next time to see how much you've improved! =D P.S. nice crow buddy, gave me a little giggle
Great idea! Wanted to play more, but this is so punishing... Excellent visuals and great work with audio!
This is the best game i've played at this jam for now. It would be even cooler if the main character was named Cumrad, but anyway - who am i to judge. Besides, why eat cabbage, when there are potatos? I can't finish the game, maybe was too hard for me. I'd played it more, but Adrew, we have a corpse here, can be crime-related. Let's ride horses!
To get more feedback, you should rate other's games and leave quality comments, so your game can be boosted to the top. Your game is cool! Nice graphics, good sounds, fun gameplay. I had some bug 3 times in a row when I was moving boxes fast but precisely. All was well, but then I was immediately fired with max damage. Also, IMO, days should be shorter by, let's say, 30–40 seconds, cause it becomes too repetitive. Besides that, great submission! =D
Cute little game! Pretty fun concept, but very cheeseable (which i like =D). It's kinda hard to get around and memorize all paths without a map. North/south are kinda giving you general directions, but actually getting to where enemies are coming from feels more like pure luck. I was never sure whether I go the right way or not
Game looks and sounds astonishing! But somhow it's very hard to control. Allmost imposible. Maybe we do something wrong, but the platform and machines feel very unresponsive. Maybe you did something wrong while exporting? You can download it and check for yourself i think.
Liminal mood. Q/E to ascend decend - is not comfortable. Spacebar and shift would be better. Mouse aim was to sensitive and shooting lacks any feedack. Great main menu! Was promising. Flying feels good (except Q/E)
(en) Great work! A cool story, even if a bit predictable (I thought that some dude was sitting inside the robot, but anyway). Yeah, this English is a bit rough. I imagine it's kinda hard to understand for non-speakers. This is the first story-based game that i've played in this jam, but it got me hooked the whole playthrough. Gameplay with robot itself got a bit simple and lacked definition and fun, but I can understand that this was not the point. Some sounds were a bit loud, but it's a horror element, i guess... P.S.: Great remarks about blockchain and neural networks. Gave me some laughs! I hope you're doing well in Ukraine. It's hard to speak from my position, but I wish you and your family only the best.
This started pretty great with menu, art style, dramatic music and animation, but as I was presented with this control scheme I felt frustrated. First, I thought I'm missing something. I pushed A and D and somewhat moved forward, so I accidentally dropped first guy at first pier to the right. I thought, alright, maybe it's not a bug, but you're supposed to do that. After some time I acclimated to the control scheme, but when I was exploring the map (which looks very cool in 2d btw) I stumbled across 2 major problems. 1'st - lack of clear direction (I wanted to explore myself, but as I was stumbling upon interesting features - I couldn't interact with them, but that's ok) and 2'nd and most important - speed of the boat. I don't mind non-conventional controls, but if you do them - you must polish them as much as you can, or else they will be just frustrating
