wow very cool visuals

valkija 2020-10-05 22:56

I'm in awe, this game is absolutely beautiful, extremely innovative and very fun to play. If you don't continue this project and make it a full game I would be incredibly surprised! Great work :)

arifacid 2020-10-05 22:58

cool sound and level design. really liked the game

yamo-the-lucky 2020-10-05 22:59

very cool PixelArt! solid game

alarathehuman 2020-10-05 22:59

i loved the art and concept. fun to play

gloomyfolken 2020-10-05 22:59

Theme is spot on, the art is nice, but I just couldn't figure out what to do on fourth level :(

j-loy 2020-10-05 22:59

A stellar little puzzler! Loved the aesthetics, very nice audio and visual polish to sell the mood. The flavor text helped too.

I did find the camera controls being bound to the cursor keys while the attack was tied to the mouse frustrating. I died more than once because I got mixed up switching my right hand between the two on short notice (particularly in the level where droids spawn after you break those tube things). I would suggest fixed camera angles, controlling the camera with the mouse (such as hold down right click and drag), or binding the attack to the keyboard.

I mainly suggest fixed camera angles because it could help with aiming throws. The free rotation doesn't really serve the gameplay much (though when I first got the prompt to rotate the camera I was pleasantly surprise), but I got a little frustrated when my camera angle was slightly askew and I had to throw something precisely. Sticking to 45/90 degree notches to suit the player's controls could do well.

nohua 2020-10-05 22:59

@wheatleyscience @valkija @arifacid Thank you so much >3

nohua 2020-10-05 23:02

@gloomyfolken Did you try smacking the blue energy pillars : D

gloomyfolken 2020-10-05 23:05

@nohua thanks, i'll try

everedx 2020-10-05 23:50

Awesome!! Looks superolished, really.

2020-10-05 23:51

The atmosphere of this game was excellent, and it fits the theme very nicely! I loved the way the music built up in the last level as you made progress with destroying the tubes. It's been mentioned, but I totally agree that the camera controls are at odds with the attack controls. Adding another binding for attack (maybe something like right-ctrl) would alleviate most of the issue for me, but mouse support for the camera would probably be best. Also, I would kill for just a little boost to movement speed.

EDIT: WAIT, I just noticed that both ctrls do work for attack, woops!

ina 2020-10-06 00:02

Really great game. Well done.

feiko 2020-10-06 01:33

Astonishing visuals like for real the graphic designer really went nuts on this one amazing job I can't believe how beautiful this game turned out in just 72 hours

nohua 2020-10-06 01:36

@feiko Thank you for the praise! I am the artist <3<3

james-clark 2020-10-06 01:41

Fun to play and I love the visuals. This game looks and feels like you spent weeks on it! Well done!

cethin 2020-10-06 01:49

Nice job! Graphics are great. Gameplay is fairly interesting though somewhat simplistic. The audio bugged out on the part with the central core thing. Not sure what happened there. Overall, a good submission!

pedrohph 2020-10-06 01:49

Amazing game! Great graphics and great sound. The 3D camera with 2D elements is beautiful!

jetty 2020-10-06 01:56

Great vibe. Very good atmosphere! Don't think the mechanics were super clear at first but I figured it out and had that feel good moment on each room. Really impressive level of polish for a jam!

nohua 2020-10-06 01:58

@jetty Thank you so much! And yeah it's hare to sometimes get mechanics across in a quick way.

jeffrey-hwang 2020-10-06 02:14

Great game that reminded me of Minit. Liked the graphic and mechanic of the game. I got stuck in second level where I kill myself to make a bridge to walk over, but can't seem to figure out how to exit. But enjoyed the art and short game play for sure! Spooky music was good too!

nohua 2020-10-06 02:17

@jeffrey-hwang Hint to that level is that you can grab your body :3

syafire 2020-10-06 02:32

The Art is awesome and I love the 3D pan around with the arrows. Overall I feel like more direction was needed to know what to do. Characters were also nice. Keep it up!

rubr 2020-10-06 04:21

Whoa this looks and sounds great. The atmosphere is amazing!

Definitely got stuck for some time on the second level. Figured out the pressure plate by accident of randomly throwing bodies around.

samelgamedev 2020-10-06 04:24

this is so cool! one of my personal highlights was definitely the art (it's very good) but wow this game is cool

i think my only criticism would be that swapping my right hand between the arrow keys and the mouse wasn't great controls-wise, but otherwise great work!

ryan-paton 2020-10-06 04:40

Really enjoyed this cool game! I think it's a interesting mechanic that you can interact with your previous body

walaber 2020-10-06 05:27

beautiful work! amazing amount of polish for a jam entry!

nohua 2020-10-06 05:28

@walaber thank you so much, your praise is appreciated.

snazghoul 2020-10-06 05:41

Nifty puzzle game, very pretty and moody. Main issue for me is movement speed feels too slow which made dying in the final encounter kinda tedious while I was still figuring out the spawn patterns.

idenoh 2020-10-06 05:47

Absolutely AMAZING, I love how you've handled your art in a way that makes it look like actual pixel art when its full 3d assets. The gameplay is a blast, and I love your loop mechanic, being able to use your corpse to solve puzzles is a great twist.

bicheste 2020-10-06 05:55

Loved it. The vibe was enough to sell it, but it has way more to offer.

codeman1010 2020-10-06 05:58

Love the artwork so much. Mix of 3d and 2d was amazing.

diego-teran 2020-10-06 06:31

Amazing art and atmosphere! The best I have played yet!

vem 2020-10-06 06:32

This game absolutely nails it's aesthetic, very well done.

I think the throw mechanic could have benefit from some more flexibility, and think another button than the mouse would have made more sense for attacks. Overall though: extremely good job!

dexort 2020-10-06 09:58

Great game! Kinda creepy, but beautiful. I liked the gameplay idea, I hope I come out with something that original next time.

jag 2020-10-06 16:03

Nicely done!

holtzzy223 2020-10-06 16:25

GORGEOUS! This is absolutely beautiful, creepy and fun gameplay!

nohua 2020-10-06 16:27

@holtzzy223 Thank you so much :crying_cat_face:

holtzzy223 2020-10-06 16:44

Id love to see how you did the camera and 3d isometric view in GM! its amzing!

abdul-zakkar 2020-10-06 16:44

Had to try this after seeing it on stream! Absolutely love the visuals, mood, music, and style. Nice showcase of gameplay mechanics as well.

craftwill 2020-10-06 20:32

Wow, insane visuals!

blackonion 2020-10-06 21:05

i like this game! very well done in a short time

rhoff95 2020-10-06 21:37

Would love to wee a WebGL version!

almost 2020-10-07 01:41

Nice music and mood - the 3D effect was pretty cool too! I liked the pixel art

I was pretty confused on the room with the glowing white thing in the center. I eventually threw a robot at one of the blue capsules on accident and realized they were breakable so I broke them. After that it took me to an empty room and then it said Tally Marks and took me to the title screen. Dialogue along the way suggested that there was more to come so I didnt think it was the end of the game, but maybe it was a game over? not sure.

nohua 2020-10-07 02:13

@almost your Tally Marks got reset at the end and it took you back to the menue. You'd escaped the loop and won!

almost 2020-10-07 02:16

Ah, ok. Glad to hear I didnt miss anything then :)

euix 2020-10-07 03:13

To be honest I cheated my way through the whole game (you can die and then throw your body at a wall while moving towards it to get on top of the wall) but it was beautiful and interesting and had a creepy discovery vibe that I enjoyed. I loved exploring the story and the level rather than solving the puzzles, but that was good fun for me so overall I enjoyed the experience.

virtual-turtle-studio 2020-10-07 09:25

This is such a cool and atmospheric game, I'm really surprised this was made during a jam! Good job!! Everyting looks and sounds awesome. I liked the wrench-attack, it felt powerful as heck. I loved the puzzle elements and all that! The atmosphere and story is definitely what kept me engaged for so long, I was super curious what was gonna happen next. Sad thing is, I got stuck and I genuinely didn't know what to do anymore. It was in the room with the giant white energy ball in the middle (with x-shaped paths leading to it.) I found the note, but saw no way of escaping that room. I even climbed up to the platform to see if I was supposed to teleport, but nope. What was I supposed to do there? Other than that, super cool game, seriously hope you keep developing this!

toccio94 2020-10-07 12:52

Visually very stunning, and the fact you can move the camera adds to the atmosphere, that was still well done even without it. Sound design is very nailed! I didn't get the story too much, but I admit I didn't try to understand it more than just the first playthrough.

The gameplay is also fun, using your own body to pass through traps or activate plates, when I discovered I had to do that it suprised me! It also makes a nice fit with the theme

Also, it's very polished and has a lot of things going on, being only two devs means you are very talented, nice work!

lakrits 2020-10-07 14:09

Nice graphics, reminded me of a Playstation 1 game I forget the name of. Had to put on some chipmusic while playing.

Would have loved to be able to rotate the camera using Q and E as well as the arrow keys.

Edit: Just noticed that the game did have audio, it was mute for me while playing. Guess there's an issue with GoDot and my sandboxing software. Good thing I can listen to the tracks in the "music" folder, sounds great!

nohua 2020-10-07 16:19

@virtual-turtle-studio You can hit the blue pillars! They are the energy for the thing in the middle.

virtual-turtle-studio 2020-10-07 18:37

@nohua Ohh that totally makes sense.. I just didn't ever have to destroy the environment before that so it didn't come up in my head!

wolfier 2020-10-07 23:29

Well that was interesting, apparently destroying that square thingy sent us back to the first life?

From the pictures there's a way to rotate the camera that I never figured out how to do.

This is probably just a me thing but I'm not a fan of being forced to die in order to progress.

guitarbro 2020-10-08 02:33

Really like the atmosphere here. The graphics were simple but effective and the music largely felt fitting. Camera controls were a little awkward, but worked well enough. My biggest complaint would be the setup for the story and then the lack of it. You had me interested. :stuck_out_tongue: Would have been nice if it had been a bit more explicitly related to the theme, but hey, it's a pretty decent game regardless!

pomo 2020-10-08 13:38

It was pretty fun, everything was working pretty well, graphics are good, fits the theme, just overall a very good entry! Thanks for submitting it! - PomoTheDog

fatsheep 2020-10-08 18:22

Played it live on https://www.twitch.tv/fatsheep__ Really liked the artstyle and the music! Fun and not too challenging levels, the corpse boosting was a bit amusing though, very solid entry!

overlook-studios 2020-10-10 23:42

Really impressive submission! I enjoyed the puzzles and the visuals. Attacking robots could be a little jank at times, but it wasnt a huge issue.

matootsy 2020-10-24 09:51

The fact that you can use the dead bodys of yourself is a very good concept completely in the theme. And the game is very well polished. The art is very nice (I like the mix between 2D and 3D) and the ambiant sound fit well. The movements are clean. Perhaps a bit difficult to understand the distance to throw your body at first. I was a bit disturbed by the camera at the beginning, but it's good to let the player choose the angle of view. (In level 3 I didn't see that the level wasn't flat with my angle of camera). I like the Level Design. levels are not too big, and very clever. You already have many things done for a Jam Game! Wish you the best to continue working and finish it!
