LD47 — Stuck in a loop

ludum factorum by AMastryukov 2020-10-05T22:43:59Z

Nice art, but unfortunately I am not able to code without autocomplete

Active Cell by Jonas Michael 2020-10-05T23:24:30Z

Really nice! We went with basically the same idea, and your game looks more challenging :)

TALLY MARKS by de3sol 2020-10-05T22:59:17Z

Theme is spot on, the art is nice, but I just couldn't figure out what to do on fourth level :(

TALLY MARKS by de3sol 2020-10-05T23:05:04Z

@nohua thanks, i'll try

Looponaut by exopunk 2020-10-06T12:35:26Z

Looks great, sounds great, feels great, the realization that i'm stupid and didn't notice you can throw your sword until i've completed the game - does not feel great :D

Loopwise by Baran 2020-10-05T22:31:57Z

Really nice concept! Would be cool to play more levels, and maybe it would be more challenging without CommentOut operator but with simpler conditions (for level 4 and beyond)

LD49 — Unstable

PTSD Fishing by KuKuRammus 2021-10-06T17:43:49Z

I would get PTSD too if I'd had to fish with such a dramatic transition from chilly waiting to PRESS ALL THIS BUTTONS REAL QUICK OR YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY WILL STARVE TO DEATH. Cool.

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-06T16:11:30Z

This game is sad and beautiful. Also it's hard, and I believe it's an essential part of the beauty. It took me several tries to escape Gaia (and I lost all the wagons doing that anyways). I somehow felt sorry for them... And I didn't figure out how to escape the Desert at all. Probably it's doable, but I had to close the game thinking it's unescapable.

I have to admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for different forms of art about world ending and inevitability. Karawan is absolutely a piece of art, which is very rare for game jams. Dome Romantik was a gorgeous jam game, but this is pure art.

Speaking about game mechanics, I'll repeat what SneakyLemon said: the game would be more immersive if resources were picked up automatically, having to always micromanage resource picking is a little bit frustrating (and even more frustrating when you realize you forgot to pick up something).

Unfabled by Kwiper 2021-10-06T21:03:53Z

Great game! Everybody already said about Magicka, I really love that game and the core mechanic of combining the elements. I'm impressed you managed to implement all these combinations in time!

However I believe the theme of this jam had worked against Unfabled. Because of the time limit to cast a spell and the random layout, I found it more effective to just cast spells spamming the same two buttons, and the only skill I managed to acquire was to determine which skill will be cast using those elements, and sending it to the right direction. Take this with a grain of salt though, maybe I'm just too accustomed to how combining the elements work in Magicka.

Still a great game and a very solid entry overall, congratulations!

Cyberduk by abvadabra 2021-10-06T10:48:37Z

@cottontshirtz thanks! I've implemented coyote-time, but had to limit it to 50 ms, because I didn't want it to be noticeable and it absolutely was noticeable with 100 ms delay.

Cyberduk by abvadabra 2021-10-09T21:58:24Z

@yogurtthehorse thank you for you feedback! Unfortunately we don't really consider releasing it as a full game. Indie games market is incredibly saturated with lots of brilliant titles, and it's much more fun to quickly make a jam game than working on a game for a long time with a slim chance of commercial success.

@japayne thanks! We did not make the music, so we could not participate in the audio category according to the rules. Pretty much everybody ignores that rule, but we don't want to nonetheless.

Baby Panda by publicidadeba 2021-10-06T21:55:34Z

This is much more addicting than I'd like to admit. And also very cute until the very moment when your precious baby falls to inevitable death... Well done!

Quantum Qitty by Mr.developer 2021-10-08T20:18:53Z

Very nice. It took a lot of dead quantum cats, but I was able to beat it after all. The core mechanic is unique and cool AF, but it requires very precise timings, I struggled with this for quite some time.

Grabanakki by Saturnyoshi 2021-10-06T15:27:30Z

Wow. This twists my brain in a positive way. I believe the core mechanic is unique to your game (at least I never played anything like that), and it's hard to adapt your brain to simultaneously move, decide where you can pick a block and shoot. I kinda suck at that though :(

Excellent graphics, sound and polishing, but that has been said so many times already.

I don't even know whether I should congratulate you on keeping or raising the quality bar, since your previous game was also excellent.

Bitrot by Maxathon 2021-10-06T23:08:10Z

I wish real unstable games would be unstable like this one instead of just freezing or crashing with obscure messages

Due to the ability to jump from walls it felt a little bit too easy, but I definitely had fun. Art and music are spot on. Nice job!

Deathrail by Hotowlgirls 2021-10-06T22:54:35Z

Nice twist on the runner genre! I was not able to force by brain to jump and balance simultaneously until I tried to press QWE with one hand and AD with the other. Guess cerebral hemispheres can still work independently even if you are bad at multitasking in general

After I discovered that the difficulty was spot on, and the game became very fun in general. Would be nice if it was possible to use arrow keys instead of WAD, otherwise it's not very convenient for people like me who can't play using one hemisphere

Great job overall, I find normal runners kinda boring but Deathrail was actually fun.

Watch your step by Haematite 2021-10-08T21:04:05Z

Wow, that's an unique idea and a really solid entry. Falling floors turn it from a roguelike to a challenging puzzle real quick

Very impressed you've managed to do this in 72 hours all alone, that would be a great game even for a team! I'm especially surprised with the world generation, didn't expect it to work this good, worldgen is usually very time consuming to implement properly. Sometimes I was unable to find exit to the next floor, but that's probably just me driving myself into a corner.

The only nitpick I have is a little confusing floor tile textures: tiles around exits are not breakable, but have the color of breakable tiles, this was unclear to me in the beginning.

Wobbly Penguins by bqq 2021-10-06T20:35:05Z

Well that was kinda unexpected

The game is indeed a very solid entry even without the twist, the controls felt a bit unintuitive at first, but it was fun to try to master it. The art is also really nice, cute (usually :D) and fitting.

Lovecrafting by Concker_88 2021-10-06T15:01:55Z

Wow that escalated quickly... Visuals and sound are spot on, it really felt like I was summoning some terrifying ancient creatures. Also very polished, such a concept just wouldn't work otherwise.

CONTROLL by kartiz0l 2021-10-05T20:02:33Z

OMG, even Boshy was not as tough at the beginning. Nice one, wish I was able to beat it...
