Awesome game! The art is my favorite part of the game. Also, the camera shake when crashing is a perfect touch.

ollie-d 2023-05-01 23:48

Solid entry! Really liked the art. Also I wish I could have the game scroll a bit faster, but it was a useful speed for avoiding obstacles!

adrieldf 2023-05-01 23:49

Great game, art and sounds! Overall solid experience! It's was fun playing except that sometimes when grabbing packages the plane took a hit because of another building close to it.

ditam 2023-05-01 23:58

Very cool! I especially loved the graphics, everything is super crisp and consistent. A modest scope, but very polished, bravo.

jaydubbyasee 2023-05-02 00:23

Great artwork. Like other's have said would have been nice to have the level of the scroll be faster and the plain controls move a little quicker. There were also some issues where delivery houses spawned behind the crate warehouses, but seems like a pretty minor issue. Overall really solid jam entry!

paulhocker 2023-05-02 02:25

Solid game, but I did not see any reason to use anything but the lower part of the screen. Great artwork and the mechanics were solid. My only complaint was the music which got a bit annoying. Thanks for making it.

iluvatar 2023-05-02 10:11

Hey man, amazing game as always. No need to talk about art, we all know it's amazing.

I love how the promise of the game is simple, but it is very engaging and it reminds me of those early NES games, where the gameplay loop is simple, but we still loved them an play to oblivion! I love your attention to detail, such as shake screens, all kinds of little animations and things like final message telling you how many birds or humans you killed. The devil is in the details and you just know how to do these things :)

publicidadeba 2023-05-02 12:04

The art in this game is truly impressive, with solid attention to detail that really shines through in the ending screen. The scale of the game is also noteworthy, and I was particularly impressed with the level of detail put into the ability to hit birds with boxes - a small but important feature. While the gameplay may have been the weakest part of the experience, it still manages to work effectively. Overall, a great effort by the team!

ltyrosine 2023-05-02 12:53

Nice simple game, cool graphics! Somehow remembers me old dos/nes games.

lucavazz 2023-05-02 17:34

Very cool "retro feel" overall.

The plane controls nicely, but somehow I actually enjoyed it most to see it crash :D

Sometimes its a bit hard to know which houses are in the foreground and which are in the back - maybe the background ones need to be a bit more faded / muted in colour?

@ltyrosine @ditam @professor Thanks a lot for playing the game and kind words!

@ollie-d @jaydubbyasee You are both totally right, I wanted to add faster scrolling later on, as it would give the game bit bigger challenge factor, but I programmed that part poorly, so there was no time for implementation. Maybe in some later patch. Thanks for playeing the game and your feedback!

@paulhocker Thanks for your feedback. You are totally right with music loop, however as small the game is, more music would be quite time expensive :)

@publicidadeba thanks a lot for kind words, I always love to make these little details and what is even better to see that some notice that :) Also there is no team, it was just me. I could fully start on Sunday so had to go for jam and not compo

@lucavazz I wanted to make the crashes enjoyable. I have added outlines to the ones you can collide with. I was thining about fade or bit smaller houses in the background, but at the end this was a better solution in my opinion, since it felt bit nicer. Also it will keep the player focused. Thanks for playing and feedback!

jin9310 2023-05-02 19:40

@iluvatar Thank you so much for such a kind words mate! It feels really good to read that some of the players can see these little details I love to put into my games... It can be bit tidious work that takes more time that would be needed, but since I am a poor programmer, I try to "shine" somewhere else :D Thanks again! I am taking a break for few days, but I will get back to your game soon ;) Cheers

routard 2023-05-03 23:28

Loved the graphics that respects so much the 8 bit old games. The feedbacks are incredible with gives a huge depth to the game and actually a very enjoyable feeling. You did a great job with this and procedurally generated city is again a challenge in a jam. Tho sometimes there is repairs station in a building, or just you can’t grab packages for because of some heavy birds. There is way too less places where to deliver packages it would be even funnier ! But Anyway, GG

jin9310 2023-05-04 10:11

@routard You know how it goes, you plan all the stuff and then you need to cut it and cut it and cut it... :D So I totally agree that there could be way more places where to deliver packages as well as I should at least patch the repairs (and few building) as sometimes these overlap each other :D Anyway thank you for kind words, your feedback and the time you have spend with my game!

dexort 2023-05-05 22:13

Solid game! Have fun playing it! Great artstyle, city feels alive, thanks to little people sprites running around. Very good animations. Excelent details) Would be cool if the game increased in dificulty over time, but anyway it was fun! Extra points from me for original soundtrack. It's kinda funny, but just the fact that you made it at all - already deserves respect.

jin9310 2023-05-06 07:25

@dexort thanks a lot for kind words. I tried to boost the difficulty with baloons and more birds but I have failed to add speeding up the whole thing. But there will be after jam patch just to polish the details and make it more challenging with bit more content ;)

tomssuli 2023-05-09 18:31

Nice and polished game! Loved the pixelart. Gameplay loop was nice but could have turned harder over time. Now I seemed to be able to go on forever. It was nice that there were vertically and horizontally moving obstacles as well as still obstacles so you had to think your way through each differently. The end stats were also nice as they gave some summary to the game.

Hitboxes were a bit large, I ended up crashing into birds or bird feathers when I didn't seem to even touch them... Talking about feathers, the same birds could hurt you many times over as they're feathers also hurt you. That made it also pointless to kill them with boxes when you still couldn't avoid colliding into them any better than when they were alive.

At first it was not clear what buildings you could fly past and which ones you would collide into. After some trial and error I learned that the ones with darker outlines were collisionable and others were not... but even then there was a exception to this as interactable buildings (cargo depots and deliverable houses) wouldn't trigger a collision.

The procedural generation was great, it seemed that you were going through varied cities and countryside. The downside with that was that there were sometimes cargo depots and repair packs that were impossible to get and in the first run I died to such place when I didn't yet know what buildings were obstacles and what were background.

Despite the ranting, I liked the game alot and played it many times. I would have been even more motivated to play more if there was an online scoreboard and ramping difficulty in the form of speeding up or getting more obstacles... Alternatively there could have been an ending or a goal that you tried to achieve.

Good work overall!

Graphics and music work together well to create a cohesive mood. Really, really good.

The font in the HUD looks a little out of place in the middle of all that awesome pixel art. The letters in the game title and the '5' in the package pickup animation are fantastic. I'd love to see a HUD made out of characters like those.

Delivery stations come up often enough relative to drop-off points that I never had to worry about running out of packages. My "packages to deliver" counter climbed steadily throughout the game. If there were fewer delivery stations I'd have one more thing to keep track of while playing - though if you plan to make the scrolling faster, I may start missing more delivery stations.

jin9310 2023-05-10 17:54

@tomssuli thanks a lot for fantastic feedback! About hitboxes, this is actually really nice catch and thing I have forgot to take care of. I am just simply changing the animation and forgot to turn off the collisions, will fix that. Collisions of the building I wanted to leave like this from the very begining, but I might change the size/oppacity of the ones on the background, since it could be more readable ;) You are also very correct about the generation and this was something I didn't have time to fix before publishing. Good news is that I have already patched this, so objects should never be placed on top of each other ;)

As I mention above already, there is going to be a patched version once the rating period is over. I will add few new features (speed up is going to be included) and might think about the online leaderboard as well. So if you'd like to try it after patch, just be sure to check my game after this LD is over ;) THX a lot once again, this was really helpful!

jin9310 2023-05-10 17:57

@jacobwinters unfortunatelly not everything is possible to be done during the timeframe of the jam as you know :) and as much as I would like to have the fonts pixelated as the rest of the game, I simply was not able to. But as mentioned in my other responses, patch will come, and new UI will be there as well. And yes, faster scrolling will make the aim harder, again, not in the jam version :/ Thanks a lot for your feedback and time with my game! It is truly helpful!

tomssuli 2023-05-10 18:21

@jin9310

Nice! Tag me in a comment when you have advanced version online. I'll be glad to try it! I hope you find the time to review our game too :)

kerdelos 2023-05-10 21:54

Love the graphics of the game ! Gameplay wise, it's a well executed but I would have liked a bit more challenge because if found way to easy to fly indefinitely. Good job :)

jin9310 2023-05-11 08:13

@kerdelos Thx a lot

colinbellino 2023-05-12 19:50

Nice small game, loved the cozy art style!

Some pieces of feedback: - I found it hard to identify what could hit you at times (ie: buildings) - The missed packages sliding on the ground was a nice touch :D - Missing a building and not being able to go back was rough (because the screen scrolled too fast, i'm not sure?) - That end screen was great haha, i killed so many people with my reckless flying though :sob:

Thanks for making it! <3

tul-games 2023-05-14 09:25

The game was really fun, everything was great, I only found the screen scrolling to fast, other than that it was great!

stevie257 2023-05-15 19:34

The visual elements in this game, though humble, effectively support the gameplay and contribute to an enjoyable experience

jin9310 2023-05-15 20:59

@tul-games Thanks... that is funny, you are litteraly the first one that mentiones that scrolling is too fast :) Thanks for playing my game

jin9310 2023-05-15 20:59

@stevie257 Thanks a lot!

johnnysix 2023-05-16 20:44

Any post compo plans to mash this up with Jing & Jang delivery Co?

Loved the graphics / art style, it reminded me a little of the classic "Retry" game.

If you continue to develop beyond the compo, some more control over clashing buildings / pickups would make it infinitely playable - I unfortunately came across a few spots where I couldn't pass bird + balloon combos too.

jin9310 2023-05-17 11:02

@johnnysix there is a post compo plans, but only as a patch with few new features, but certainly not mash up with Jing & Jang :D Which is funny idea but I am afraid I don't want to go that way :D

But thanks a lot for playing! Stay close if you want to see the update ;)
