Lack of tutorial makes the game unplayable. I click on the buildings in the build mode, my resources go down but nothing happens. Also, the game seems to be made for AZERTY keyboards but most people use QWERTY. Having an option to switch controls would be nice. As of now unfortunately I can not properly rate your game

edomiyamoto 2020-10-05 15:39

@Lamossus You're right, tutorial isn't done so I added a description on this page ! However you can control the camera with arrows on your keyboard (or press alt+shift to switch azerty/qwerty) Also you can only build on tile after you clear the rock, and I know ressources go down but heh hard to debug everything ! Hope you can test it !

aterlamia 2020-10-05 15:50

Looks amazing but very hard to play. For example how do you remove rocks? What does a cannon do and where does it go ? i felt like it only took my wood and added nothing. The idea is solid (if you like clickers) but needs some polishing.

tulipekoni 2020-10-05 15:51

I agree with @lamossus, My suggestion would be to upload a gameplay video on youtube and link it here so people can learn the basics by watching the gameplay.

edomiyamoto 2020-10-05 15:54

@aterlamia You can remove rocks only after tile are converted to your kingdom (which you can improve how fast it is via an upgrade). I sure will set a tutorial next time ! And to answer about the cannon, it's like any building that cost wood, you put it on a free spot and then war truly begins !

aterlamia 2020-10-05 15:56

@edomiyamoto maybe a small bug then. I clicked, my wood was gone but i could not place anything as i had no space

shan-hsgames 2020-10-05 15:58

Graphics look cool. Gameplay is fun, but there are some small bugs whenever I click the rocks. It would be good if you've improved the UI graphics a little bit; also a tutorial scene would be good. Apart from these, I liked it!

eduard-hauer 2020-10-05 16:00

Maybe the game is a little bit short

lamossus 2020-10-05 16:19

@edomiyamoto after giving the game another try I managed to finish it!

Some feedback: 1. After understanding it more, the theme implementation is actually really cool! Getting stronger with each cycle to beat your enemy is a really fun idea. Definitely could be developed into a full game if given some thought. 2. The graphic style is simple but effective. I liked it. 3. Even with your comment the game was kinda confusing to be honest. Maybe a bit more detailed explanation on the game page would help. I didn't realize that buttons at the bottom were upgrades for a while, for example 4. Conversion rate upgrade needs some tweaking I think. Not being able to clear rocks was one of the reasons the game was confusing. Maybe giving just a bit of conversion speed from the start could help with that. So player sees that tiles can be cleared only after conversion. On the other hand, one upgrade seems more than enough to finish the game. So I think lowering effect of a single upgrade would be better. 5. This is more of an advice for game jams specifically, not necessarily a criticism of your game. But it takes way too long for a game jam game. A lot of people will probably only play through one cycle not really getting to the core of the game. Not every one is patient. I think just lowering the prices could help with that

I hope I didn't seem too harsh, your game is pretty good!

wevel 2020-10-05 16:22

Really nice music, and even if you have used some existing assets it does look good. I think the buildings should have some automatic generation of resources. Currently there doesn't seem to be any reason to build multiple of the same type as you can only click on one at a time.

captaindreamcast 2020-10-05 22:21

Managed to break the loop! It was a real nailbiter against the Chronolings, I built that final cannon just in time to scrape by with like a tenth of my life.

Had a lot of fun figuring out a good strategy. The only thing that took me a while to figure out was that new spaces to build only unlock after a little while. Graphics-wise it looks really cool, I love the detail on the Chonolings castle, and the cannon squares a lot, those look especially awesome. The music has that medieval battle flair, that went really well with it too. All in all a very good entry, great job on it!

edomiyamoto 2020-10-06 11:14

@lamossus thanks a lot for your feedback, I agree with your points and will sure take them in count for a better version and/or next time. Also glad your finally like it :)

@wevel the automatic generation was a thing during developpment, but where was so much lag I had to reduce ressources production...so yeah, this idea is here, but currently it's..meh !

@captaindreamcast thanks :) Music was a real 3 hours of going on my piano, moving back to LMMS, adding note one by one ... Happy I made it in the end, and happy to know that players like it :)

peeweek 2020-10-06 12:00

Really confusing at first but clicking on the farm is really a pain (could you have required less clicks or is it intended?). It took me a while to figure out what I needed to do (had to come back to the page)

Graphics are well made even though you reused assets, composition is good and chronolings castle is really well made!

linetaru 2020-10-06 12:10

The game looks great visually, I like the low poly designs and the sounds work well with the game.

What I find unfortunate is the controls and the lack of feedback, I managed to find that it was necessary to click to earn golds after having already lost a bit of life, since the enemy tower attacks from the start while we do not yet know the controls is very disturbing. Build mode is not very instinctive, I thought you had to click on the one you want to place it but it automatically generates on the map in one place.

I think this game can really be fun to play quickly, the music and graphics help a lot, if you do a little more work on the controls it will be a great little game.

(Rock stay on build after spawn new farm or cannon)

kira-yoshida 2020-10-06 12:30

I have to agree, the look and visual style of the game is really well done! The gameplay obviously needs a change to make it more playable but overall I think it would be an interesting game if further developed. Good Luck!

jamesor 2020-10-06 13:15

Looks good, would you consider posting a WebGL version since you built it in Unity?

elmos-minion 2020-10-06 13:24

It was a bit confusing at first, but overall great submission! As others mentioned the visual style is nice. It would be better if there was a tutorial and you didn't have to click so much (multipliers). It gets expensive fast!

vivien-fargette 2020-10-06 13:25

Took me a while to understand the mechanics but fun game once you get it (I agree with lamossus on the tutorial part and the prices tho: not everyone will try multiple times and read comments in order to play).

It is a bit too reliant on click and the game would be more interesting with a regular fixed income on each farm in my opinion: it would force you to think more about the organization of your town instead of putting one wood farm and spam clicking it until you get cannons.

With that said, music was really cool and it is a really good result for a jam and can develop into a really fun game if you continue working on it after ludum

dexort 2020-10-06 13:29

It's a bit confusing at first, but overhaul a nice game. Needs more polish and tutorial, but still. For now played you game more than any other. =)

rolly 2020-10-06 13:36

That's a high risk to create that kind of game during a game jam, because it needs to be perfectly balanced to be interesting until the end... And I would say that once you understood that it's actually useless to build more than one farm and one lumberjack camp (they don't produce enough on their own, clicking is the only viable solution), that you have to rush 2-3 cannons, it's actually too straightforward. Apart from balancing, I would say that it is well executed and maybe a good basis to keep working on a post-jam version!

The visuals are really good and the music fits correctly.

Nice entry !

EDIT : I'm not sure I understood your take on the theme, could you help me here ? :D

snailrhymer 2020-10-06 13:48

It wasn't until reading the comments that I realised there was any change between replays (and I still don't know what the change is). I won on the second loop by building a single wood production building and then three cannons, which made it feel like the game was more about clicking on a single building than it was about building a city. I think the game could have done with stronger passive income and less repetitive clicking.

The looks were really nice - I especially liked the stylised clouds drifting across.

toasteater 2020-10-06 14:34

It took a bit of time before I could understand what's going on, but once I did this looks like a solid clicker. The visuals are really nice. Good job!

edomiyamoto 2020-10-06 20:58

@jamesor Done ! The WebGL version is now live, thanks for the idea ! Also I removed the bug that caused towers to not spawn enough things and added controls directly on the main screen since everyone ask. Other than that the game stay exactly the same, bugfixes only. No more update unless we work on it after the Jam !

@Rolly you rushed so well you didn't see the loop that's all !

lanalux 2020-10-07 00:31

This looks really cooL! I seem to be getting an issue though where i can only click on one stone to break it. would love to try it properly! :)

dharby 2020-10-07 02:11

I'm a big fan of low poly! Love the style. Nice work.

eugenik 2020-10-07 04:32

Very cute game :) I like it

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 10:53

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

skvader-418 2020-10-07 12:46

the game was a bit confusing but i managed to figure it out, the game was really fun and i love the graphics

nailuj29-gaming 2020-10-07 22:45

I love the aesthetic of this game! The way resources fly around is fun to see, and once you figure it out, it is very fun. I had a hard time stopping playing this one!

nicardo 2020-10-08 10:14

Bit confusing at the begining , and couldnt find how to clear a tile. Other than that, good effort for the game.

nsadie 2020-10-09 18:41

I liked how it looked, but I struggled a bit to figure out what to do.

I played it on my big 4k tv, but found the UI buttons so small that I could hardly read them.

sanojian 2020-10-10 11:50

Really ambitious project. It had some good ideas with upgrades. I found it too confusing. I managed to win, but I don't really know why it suddenly got much easier after dieing.

krammetje 2020-10-11 14:49

It could use a small introduction on what everything does. I managed to win the second game, but still have no idea what the convert rate does.

Besides that it was pretty interesting to play.

mrstari 2020-10-15 13:32

i agree with the others but its also a great work ! :)

makiyoshi 2020-10-19 17:48

I escaped the loop, yay! The game was confusing at first, I just kept clicking my way through but I never understood how I got rid of all the rocks, lol. But your graphics look very pretty (when you start building a lot of farms it gets pretty laggy, though) and the audio is pleasant as well. Nice job :)
