I like the treasure-hunt's idea ! And the drawable map give a creative tools at the game, it's nice add.

levi-kingma 2025-04-08 08:41

Very charming! UI and UX are on point

outish 2025-04-08 10:43

Another banger from Sheepolution. Great conept executed flawlessly. Solid 5/5

slow-chaz 2025-04-08 15:25

haha love the art and vibe. The map idea is so good!

wetbox 2025-04-08 15:35

Great concept! Love it. Arrr!

fullbuff 2025-04-08 16:02

Very nice little game concept! I could definitely see this as a mini game in a bigger pirate game.

The pixel art is on point and the sound design is pretty nice! This feels very polished already.

Any idea in which direction you would push this if you had more time ?

How does the map storage work, is there an online server ? Or those are just maps you draw yourself ?

svenerik 2025-04-08 16:42

Truly a unique game concept — I haven't seen anything quite like it out there. I do wish there were a few more mechanics to engage with, though at the same time, it's hard to think of anything that wouldn't take away from its charm. The idea of players giving each other maps is absolutely brilliant, and the visuals and overall aesthetic were stunning. Loved it!

veronica-l 2025-04-08 18:04

Idea from to plaer so cool and this pixel style so perfect from this game...

nooodle 2025-04-08 18:17

This was really cool!! I loved the art, the gameplay was fun and innovative. Such a cool idea, great job!

whole-garbage-sale 2025-04-08 18:46

Great concept! Love the art and sound design!

jaxrud 2025-04-08 22:19

Very cool concept! Pretty innovative stuff here!

muriel 2025-04-08 22:20

Amazing job, art, music, everything, keep it up!

athospap 2025-04-08 22:20

Absolutely fantastic concept and execution! Now I want to play all the other Captain Peggles adventures. The idea of playing another players map is genius. Great job guys

brain-delay 2025-04-08 22:32

Yegh? YARR!

510 2025-04-08 23:02

Such a cool idea! Graphics and music both resulted in a nice mood! Were the maps made during development or are they updated live by other players?

sheepolution 2025-04-08 23:34

@510 They are made up by other players! Some of those players are the developers of course :)

alexrose 2025-04-09 00:40

really well done! cute art, voice acting?! loved the concept of shared player experience. the web player crashed on me after I created my map, downloaded and it worked fine and got to dig up 3 treasures :]

batisdark 2025-04-09 07:42

@alexrose I got your map ahahaa! got ashamed with what I drew! Grabbed all 3 though!

That game is so cool. Had to wait till evening to show it to another jammer :D It is so well done! There is nothing I could give as a feedback at all!

realwangziyang 2025-04-09 09:52

I can't believe you made a solid online game system in 3 days. It's really innovative and fun!

saryah 2025-04-09 10:22

Yarrrr. I can't believe you pulled off a multiplayer game in a game - witchcraft. Awesome, fun I loved it.

jacky-san 2025-04-09 10:44

Very nice overall job ! :)

borabee 2025-04-09 14:18

Very fun and bold idea! I love assynchronous multiplayers and drawing games! And you infused it with such humor with the pirate feud. The menu screen parallax is amazing. Well done!

sevadusk 2025-04-09 16:57

This was an insane concept. Async games are challenging to pull off, and the fact you had all the nice art there too as a solo developer is great. The only thing I would say is missing is more gameplay elements, but the core concept is explored beautifully.

trocentraisin 2025-04-09 19:54

Hey, got your map @alexrose! Was a bit puzzled by your hint at first, but I guessed the trap before making a mistake and got your booty first try.

Really good game, with great execution, only caveat where having to draw is a bit time consuming, but it's lovely to craft something you will hand to someone else

mateusboga 2025-04-10 18:15

I love this! Such a cool idea, and it's so well implemented. Great sound effects and the characters and animations are so iconic as well. Don't have much negative to say about this. Great job!

adam-martin 2025-04-11 03:10

A bit short, but overall loved the make the map yourself mechanic.

demigris 2025-04-11 05:07

Wow I really enjoy the game! Drawing my own map and following other player's map to uncover the hidden treasure, such a fun experience! Treasure map.png

skosnowich 2025-04-11 21:55

Simply awesome game, what should I say? Feels like you had a really great idea for the Cartography idea and you just stuck to it, but absolutely worth it! The art is superb, the sound design is great and the gameplay is also really good. I love that you have to find your own treasures based on your map before submitting to validate that your map is really working.

sheepolution 2025-04-11 21:59

@skosnowich Thank you! And I can understand it looks like that, but the idea really came from depths -> digging -> treasure maps.

skosnowich 2025-04-12 07:05

@sheepolution Ah, thanks for clarifying, somehow I didn't come to that chain of thought.

cure 2025-04-12 09:03

Such a fun, cute idea, hope someday I can play it with friends!

shores 2025-04-12 13:50

@cure Thank you so much for sharing the video, it was really nice to watch you play! And also thanks for playing our game of course. You shared some really useful tips there, like letting the player know they will lose their map if they fail too many times, before they do the double checking part. And I'll absolutely make sure to add a whole lot more tile variety for the steam version of our game, hahaha. And thank you so much for the compliments as well! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! <3

jimiasoph 2025-04-12 22:43

This game may be relatively small in scope, but the art and sound design are absolutely polished and delightful. The level of creativity is impressive, and the overall experience was great.

The voice acting added a lot of charm, and the character selection screen at the beginning was really fun. The core gameplay itself is also quite innovative — it all comes together to make a really fantastic game!

coleslaughter 2025-04-13 01:30

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2431006955?t=03h08m00s)

The trust you have in this community to draw responsibly is truly unfathomable.

Regardless, this is one of the most unique entries I've seen for a Ludum Dare game. Such a cool idea, and such a great implementation of it as well. Congrats, this is one of my favorites.

shores 2025-04-13 07:54

@coleslaughter One small phallic shaped drawing and it's over for us! 😭

But seriously thank you guys so much for playing our game! It was really nice to see you guys play together like that, just messing around, laughing together, drawing the map together, thinking together... It's exactly the kind of experience we want to give players with our game! It was so funny to see you guys just doing whatever trying to double check that last treasure, then realizing Peggles will tear the map in half if you don't find the spot next try, and then seeing you guys lock in like "Oh sh-... now it's getting serious!" Thank you so much for playing the game and for the lovely compliments!! ❤️

slay-a-stone 2025-04-13 09:10

Really original idea! And sorry for the person that has to find my map...

binaryspark 2025-04-13 13:52

How did you put together an online storage service in a jam???

This is awesome. Posted one map and played several others, very fun.

clear-voiz 2025-04-13 13:56

I can't believe how original and fun this game is! The art, the music and the gameplay all delievered, it's impressive you achieved something of this quality in such time window. The idea of drawing a map and double checking to make sure it is usable for another player to recieve it when they take on the role of the 2nd pirate was very clever, the UI and drawing features are super clear and fun and the music suites the theme of the game a lot. The only thing left for me to say is... Congratulations!!!

tunasandwich 2025-04-13 14:04

Such a unique idea ! I love that we get to use other people maps on the second part of the game. Which also means that a true pirate could use its own memory system to make it harder for the next to find the treasures. Not saying that I did that of course ;)

muriel 2025-04-13 18:28

XD, very nice art, I laugh because I really feel bad to draw in such a beautiful game, it really makes me value more the art that you have put together. It is amazing!

Great job !!!

amolker 2025-04-13 18:49

Rally cool Idea and nice implementation. Played it a few times. Sound design is great!

potatobrain 2025-04-13 21:27

the draw and play a map from or for a other player feature is very cool! artstyle and sounddesign nice as well, nice entry

belle 2025-04-14 05:38

Treasure map game siblings! :two_hearts: This is amazing! Solving other players treasure maps is brilliant!

The art is fun and looks cool, I enjoy the water animation. Overall the game is just refreshing, clever, and most importantly fun!

I would love to play it multiplayer as a party game with friends.

nevercontent 2025-04-14 16:50

It's just not a game without pirates! The multiplayer part is cool, but I got a trash map xD.

halfdanthevillain 2025-04-14 17:03

Really nice to both dig and find treasures others have hidden. Feel really bad for the one who are getting me map... It is absolutely not as good as the one I got and see I the comments here. Cool game and nice concept!

meowcuz 2025-04-14 17:18

Really cool idea! It was a lot of fun to make a map and then to try to interpret another players map! Great job!

emily-c 2025-04-14 18:16

It was really fun and very cool that you could play other players maps, it was really fun :D

eyedromeda 2025-04-14 22:05

Very cool concept! Drawing the map was fun, and deciphering other people's maps was also a good challenge. The graphics are well done, music and sfx are very nice, and the mode selection screen is awesome with the moving characters and voice lines. I'd only hope for some more variation in objects and scenery to keep the game fresh for longer, but I'm sure time was the restricting factor there. Overall, very good work!

corbak 2025-04-15 15:05

Incredible entry with a multiplayer twist, that was really cool to play and discover treasures of other players, so much well done! :)

zungryware 2025-04-15 15:45

Man, I've been trying to come up with good asynchronous multiplayer ideas for the last four jams but I always come up short. This is a super clever concept for a game and I had a lot of fun with it! Though I personally think I'm a better map-drawer than whatever two boneheads made the maps I had to read. Maybe for payback I'll encode my next map in the enigma cipher. Excellent work!

empyreans 2025-04-15 16:41

Anything pirate related - I am in. Brilliant game design and amazing art.

I can see this idea going further and would like to try doing some mechanic inspired by this If I ever go back to my pirate project :writing_hand:

The only thing I'd wish for is a filler for the drawing 'cause I have spent way too much time than I should have drawing this lol

sheepolution 2025-04-15 16:54

@empyreans Haha wow! That's an amazing map! World building and all!

aurel300 2025-04-15 17:51

Very fun concept! I think I enjoyed trying to decipher the instructions more than providing a map, although I have seen some that were just too cryptic (incorrect? :D)! The safety check of having to follow your own map is cool but of course when you understand the game you can memorise your treasure location and do whatever

noagard 2025-04-16 07:50

Wonderful idea! I had a lot of fun finding treasures, a more fun of drawing maps! Great work!

perrin 2025-04-16 12:12

Absolutely genius idea really well executed. Was both super fun making my own map and deciphering those from other players. Also super well polished implementation of the idea. Great work.

koolruz 2025-04-16 15:04

Oh man, this was absolutely so much fun - It's like nothing I've ever played before, and it was a blast! The only thing that bummed me out a little bit is knowing that I'll never get any feedback about whether or not my map that I drew was used/successfully got someone to the treasure! That might be a great future update, getting some sort of reward whenever someone uses your map to find a chest. My only other complaint was how huge the eraser was, when I was trying to make tiny adjustments to my lil pixelized palm trees

Overall though, it was extremely satisfying to both draw the map, and then extremely satisfying to parse someone else's map. Great job all around! :)

philstrahl 2025-04-17 17:00

That's an very cool concept, especially that the game doesn't tell you at first, that the maps you draw will be kept for asynchronous multiplayer. I hope any of them landlubbers can make do with mine, yahaharrr! Thanks for being present in the stream! For reference, here's the VOD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-LpcE-OANM

xand 2025-04-19 18:45

Awesome idea, incredible execution, just all around amazing. Especially for the timeframe. Praise be to Sheep and team, this is one of the most innovative entries I've played for any LD, period.

jimbly 2025-04-21 23:35

Wow, this is basically the perfect async multiplayer game concept for a jam, and really well executed! Only thing missing is a leaderboard of who's maps are the awesomest  (although it seems like all of the ones I played were good enough to let me get the treasure perfectly in 3 digs). Only thing I wish I knew was that I'd be drawing 3 treasures on 1 map (I thought it'd be 3 maps), I did quite a sketch of my surroundings before having to erase it all . Nice job!

2025-04-23 18:40

Brilliant execution as always. I'm a sucker for async multiplayer.

One thing that could be improved is difficulty, as I think the game is a tad too easy. Is it a co-op, or is the mapper's goal to draw as little as possible? The lore of the game suggests the latter, but in my experience it's more of the former.

jeremy-ryan 2025-04-24 04:51

Super cool concept and smooth execution! I love just how simple this is, but how much it allows for player collaboration and creativity. It also is really good at solving one of the big issues with multiplayer jam games --- having multiple people playing at the same time --- by making everything asynchronous.

Great work everybody!

simon-rahnasto 2025-04-24 10:48

As per tradition I play your and Alex Rose's games as the last two games of the Jam, that way I can end on a high note with guaranteed bangers.

And oh boy have you out done yourself this time. It's such an elegant idea, very innovative and just super fun in general. I am terrible at drawing, but it was very relaxing to sit and draw the map. Let's get some obvious points out of the way: Graphics, audio & voice acting: Just phenomenal, really polished!

Making an async multiplayer game for a jam is a genius move, you inspire me to want to do that some time in the future as well! Question, did you make some maps yourself at the end just to bootstrap the experience for the first few players?

I saw that it's possible to wish list this on Steam, I fully support that move, I think this game has huge potential!

pickens-inc 2025-04-24 18:18

Amazing entry, essentially no notes. Brilliant async multiplayer concept. Beautifully elegant and novel, the perfect thing you look for in a jam! I hope you guys rock the park with the steam version. I would love a reason to make my map more tricksy, and maybe make it trickier *to* make maps as times go on, like bigger islands, less obvious landmarks, or perhaps a requirement to follow a path, or even thingsl ike removing colours sometimes, or somehting like that!

Loved it though, top marks, huge potential

euler-moises 2025-04-24 18:43

How fantastic!

I thought you were playing with your own map. Then I thought: "How boring...". When I saw that I was using someone else's map... What a unique game! I loved it!! The idea is great and very well executed. The art and music are very beautiful.

One of LD57's most interesting games.

Thanks for the experience.

Congratulations!

snowdrama 2025-04-25 02:06

Fantastic game! Love the concept a lot! As others had said, adding a fill bucket would have been nice but that's nitpicking haha

I hope someone got my map and had a super easy time with it lol, I put a lot of effort in!

roroto-sic 2025-04-25 14:26

That such a good idea and the fact we play map made by other player is so cool !! I love that game !! beautifull visual , awesome pirate audio !! One of my favorite for this jam !! Very Great job !!

Capture d’écran 2025-04-25 170015.png

100th-coin 2025-04-25 17:31

Absolutely phenomenal. Very rarely do I find LD games that completely sweep me off my feet. I would play this for several more hours, but I have a few more games I'd like to rate today. (I will probably play more of this later tonight, ha!)

I started challenging myself by memorizing the other player's map while standing at the boat and seeing if I could get all 3 without checking the map again. So much fun. So so so much fun.

I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible, but man I have so few notes. You all absolutely know what you are doing, and my video will simply just be me having fun for 22 minutes. Cheers!
