Nice game! I had a hard time hitting the ball where I wanted, but I loved the graphics and the animations. Well done.

Nice game! I had a hard time hitting the ball where I wanted, but I loved the graphics and the animations. Well done.
Hot damn there went a 1/2 hour of my life. was kinda mad at how terrible the controls were for aiming and stuff, but it really is part of the charm trying so hard to do a simple thing while being pestered by zombies, it honestly gave me more realistic golf emotions than most golf games really love it
Thanks! Yes, I know the controls are maybe not optimal for golfing, but I decided I couldn't spend more time tweaking them and, as you mention @benpeterson, it ads a bit to the challenge and you do get better with some practice. I may consider tweaking them for a post-LD version but, everyone, please try to describe how you want the controls to be if you could choose. Thanks again!
I love the idea, awesome job. Execution is a little messy, with the golf mechanics being very difficult but with a ton of content theres not much to complain about. There is a lot of potential here I would love to see this further developed if you have plans to!
The ability to strafe with Q and E would make lining up a shot much easier, maybe a power bar and some more conventional golfing mechanics could make this game truly shine.
Nicely done I enjoyed playing it.
Thanks @IndieLucky, yes, strafing would improve aligning and I will think about a better way to implement the traditional golf swing! Great ideas!
Hmm, maybe a candidate for some multiplayer as well since I need to practice that come to think of it =)
Would it make more sense to have own grenades to drop and swing at instead of scattered ones?
Haha, cool idea. Striking zombies with grenades.
Wow a very interesting idea and thought process
Neat idea!
Love the concept! Very nice visuals as well. My only feedback is that it is a little awkward to line up a shot. I think since you move forward but hit right to left of the character it makes it a little difficult to line that up.
Awesome job!
Love the concept and enjoyed playing the game. I found it a little hard to setup the shots in the right direction but other than that it was great!
Wow that is some awesome work getting all of this done in 47 hours. Very impressive.
Amazing! Finally a golf that isn't boring :), nice game and very impressive entry!
I CAN'T BELIEVE, ANOTHER GOLF GAME?! I MADE ONE TOO!!
Very nicely done, love the aesthetics! I'm astonished!
If you want you can play my golf game and leave me some feedback, just between golfers <3
Very funny :)
Great use of the theme, you've made golf sooooo much more interesting. Why can't this exist in the real world? Excellent graphics too.
Good idea!! hahaha why not? check out our proyect here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/guns-n-goals
My largest complaint is that dead zombies still kill you. I really think they should just lose their collisions and slowly sink into the ground. Other than that, I think it is working as expected. I have yet to land a hit with a grenade :)
Great game! it has some catchy music. I like that the world is apparently being taken over by zombies but this guy needs to play golf. I respect that.
It'd be great if you'd check out our game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/rattys-stew-an-immersive-cooking-simulation
Interesting concept. I think it would be better if you could break up the take a swing mode. And I guess it would be also better if you don't have to face the swing to 90 degree. The Character Animation was pretty. I love this dude. And you have created so many levels. Awesome! I would like to see a post jam version with better controlls. :D
Awesome  We made a game with a very similar take on the theme - [Golf with Guns](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/untitled-fpsg).
The presentation is great -- cool low-poly art style and I love the day-night cycle. It could be interesting if the day-night cycle had some mechanical impact, like increasing the zombie spawn rate or something.
I just wish the golfer was faster and he could strafe. I wanted to kill zombies with grenades, but my aim was so poor it seemed more effective to run away from them most of the time
man! now that's wat i call 2 INCOMPATIBLE GENRES! lol. just lining up the shot after much careful & long effort wen "gaaah, a blooming zombie!" brilliant stuff! 5/5 for theme. play wise, its quite trick to navigate ur player around the golf ball, also i wish he cud run a bit quicker (or jump into on of those golf cars lol). the gfx are very cool & chunky. i didnt think the music went to well with it, i imagined it having sum smooth easy listening jazz to go with the golfing & contrast with the zombies lol, but overall great job!
=)
I so much wanted to enjoy playing this. great concept, great art, great music, great idea. Just the controls lack a bit and made it really hard for me to play, also the camera makes me dizzy. Overall a great game and i would love to play this game again with improved controls.
Great on-theme game! It was hard to aim cause I couldn't seem to move the camera without swinging my club, and it got easier once I realized I could dodge the zombies instead of trying to grenade them. I did manage to hit one though!
The controls were sort of clunky, but I think it goes with the theme- you can't spend too much time lining up your shot when you're being chased by zombies. The art was really nice, and the day/night cycle was a nice touch.
Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone! I will go through all of your games tonight to and play and rate :)

This game is AWESOME! I've never played golf, but if it's anywhere as cool as this, I'm in.
Killing zombies with grenades was fun, and the ragdoll physics made it all the more exciting. I just wish walking over a dead zombie didn't kill you, but oh well.
Nicely done
I found it incredibly hard to play, couldn't hit a single zombie with a grenade, which I really wanted to do! It was a really good fit for the theme, and graphics were pretty nice too! With better controls and feedback it could become a really fun game.!
really hard.
Damn loved it! Those animations were great!
Love graphics and animations, the fact that the zombies throw themselves at you and then die is pretty hilarious. I found the game a bit too difficult and finicky, it's hard to line up a shot without putting all your force into the shot.
Awesome music. Loved the low poly art. Did you make those yourself? The game was hard to play. Maybe you should be able to aim (left , right) after you start charging your shots. There are definitively some gameplay aspects that can be improved but nice work overall. Cheers!
Thanks everyone - I'm working on improved controls for a post version and I'm also planning to add multiplayer and some other neat features :)

Yes @jonathan-lorenz the music and low poly art was made during the 48h (can be seen in the timelapse above).
Wow one of the best games of LD41 that i played so far :) Kepp going on.
Loved the low poly art, really good job on the modeling! The controls were a bit hard, or i just suck at aiming, but after a while i sorta got better at aiming. There are definitively some areas that can be improved but most people have pointed them out so nice work overall!
Solid entry, I like your low-poly games, I loved the robot one you did for LD39. In this game, I think that the atmosphere could be a little bit better, the grenades need to be more visible, they are hard to find on the grass and they should be more efficient, as for now it is hardly worth it using them, at least I didn't get to kill a single zombie with it. And player is too slow for my opinion, a sprint key would be useful.
i commend the amount of work done for the time frame, its a nice rounded idea and execution. its a hard game, exactly why the genres are incompatible haha. it would be more fun if it had a sprint button and a way to cancel or change the strength of the swing. i did a similar idea with zombies except youre a farmer, please do check it out https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/scarecrow-farming-fps-wave-survival
I really love the graphic and the animations. the concept and gameplay are great. overall good job
The issues I had with the game have been mentioned already: movement controls, strafing, character speed (or lack thereof), lining up to take the shot, etc.
That said, you have a lot of potential here. Dodging the zombies could be a lot of fun with improved controls, and I liked that they basically kill themselves when they miss their lunge - this way you can actually defeat them with good dodging. And was that a day/night cycle?
The low-poly art is very solid, and the music is possibly the best song I heard this Ludum Dare. Maybe it didn't really capture a zombie/golf game in tone, but man it's a good track. brings me back to the old days.
Very fun and I found it very difficult to kill the enemies. I found the lowpoly art fantastic. Congratulations for the game.
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
