Major epic :sunglasses:

guilhermesouza 2020-04-21 02:13

I love the graphics and the mechanics! I found some bugs: I get stuck in the campfire and my SPACE attack get stuck in the wall and the flame sound never stops.

elio 2020-04-21 02:31

Pretty awesome game, keep developing it, the game was really fun :D

zachary-rodrigue 2020-04-21 02:32

i love the idea and the achevements realy add up to the game by giving a sense of progression

no-grapes-games 2020-04-21 02:32

Keeping the fire alive is a really cool concept! I like how the game looks. It had great pacing and the lighting was really neat. Great work, I did enjoy this!

sparkdrago 2020-04-21 02:35

ACHIEVEMENTS !!(❤´艸`❤) Love the game guys! Keep up the good work!

t-c 2020-04-21 02:38

Very nice! I enjoyed it a bunch!

twistashio 2020-04-21 02:38

I though the art was really cool and really like the writing. There was some collision bugs, but that was it. The Achievements were a nice touch. I don't know that much about godot but next if possible add a Icon for your Game :)

somethang123 2020-04-21 02:48

Really cool! I love how you can't see much and have to learn where enemies are as you go along. How many years have you been in game development? I basically just started and made my first ludum dare game and I want to know how long it takes to get to this level

nickheron 2020-04-21 02:48

really enjoyed the game, keep the good work, maybe work on the graphics a little, overall it was awesome

shuzenandy 2020-04-21 02:48

Nice game! I like the fact that you can recieve achivements  I got an issue that I got kicked inside the campfire by an enemy and got stuck.

cirnomouto 2020-04-21 03:08

This game is lit(quite literally). I really enjoy the sound and the graphics. The concept with the lighting is also interesting. Overall a very cute and charming game.

saruto 2020-04-21 03:10

I'm impressed with the scale of the game - it felt like a long sprawling cavern. And the fire burning effect was satisfying and worked well. Though, I think the game could've benefited from more tight design, I sorta felt like I was wandering aimlessly the whole time. Also there were a few off-screen deaths that were unavoidable and frustrating. Overall it was good.

shouji 2020-04-21 05:19

I love the idea that you can bypass platforming by burning platforms but it lowers your "hp" really creative. The controls were a little counter intuitive at first though, I thought space was jump!

trace 2020-04-21 05:32

this was surprisingly fun, though i found it weird how the slimes don't reset when you die.

tarfield 2020-04-21 11:04

@shouji @cirnomouto @nickheron @t-c @sparkdrago @no-grapes-games @zachary-rodrigue @elio Thank you for playing the game!

@trace We actually decided against letting the slimes respawn because we kept dying to them and wanted to put down the difficulty a bit. There might however be better ways to achieve this, so your critique is taken to heart :)

@saruto I was accused of "butchering the level design" for this exact reason  We had to design the world in the last 2-3 hours of the jam - however in future versions we will improve it! As for the off-screen deaths, I assume you mean the slimes? If so, I agree we could rethink the way they attack and maybe add some kind of defense.

@shuzenandy Thanks! The game has some bugs, however, were you able to escape by pressing R?

@somethang123 Myself and @virtualvoid have had some (hobbyist) experience with making games prior to this, but @mitsu-artemius has been drawing and programming for years and he even has a published game. Most of the graphics are done by him, which is why they are so amazing. I'd say it really depends on how much time you put in. On the programming side of things you can probably get to this level in under a year; (depending on how much non-game programming you know prior) a lot of the more advanced stuff we've used in the game are built-in to godot. We might do a write up of the development process, if that is of interest!

@twistashio Thanks! Icons are possible, we actually forgot about them existing.

@guilhermesouza Yeah, there are some unfixed bugs. Were you able to escape the campfire by pressing R?

lesslwo 2020-04-21 17:53

I got pranked, I want my money back!

Jokes aside, pretty nice game, there were a couple times (i think) i died to a bug, but overall I enjoyed my time with it.

svdvorak 2020-04-22 09:31

Who wouldn't want to try the game after reading the project description! Lovely game, it felt like there was a huge cave to explore. And I loved the books you could find with the fun dialogue. It was a bit of trial and error to see where you were going since the light becomes so weak so fast. But otherwise, good fun, great work!

webox 2020-04-24 22:31

This game ies really weell done!! Aside from those damn slimes spawning in randome places sometimes, the game feels really well put togheter. Music and art fit perfectly, there's a cool connection between the slow pace music and the way wood burn that makes it feel great. Idk if It the game shoul've ended and it didn't but I ended up jumping out of the map at the end, was that supposed to happen?? Anyway, really solid entry, great job!

joemid 2020-04-25 00:12

So good. Funny, solid gameplay, and a surprisingly little platformer. The achievements really kept me going. My favorite achievement?

Would love a checklist at the end. I didn't see half of them because I was too busy wiping sweat from my eyes. ;)
