The theme of my game is quite similar to yours. You did a great job, I quite like your particle effects. :)
Really cool, well executed, I liked it :D
cool particle effects, fun entry for the jam.
Hey! This looks really interesting. Any chance you can publish it to HTML5 or something? The mac version doesn't work (I think because of security restrictions on unsigned apps?).
Classic concept but very well executed 9/10 from me. Just a couple of improvements: try differentiating the two asteroid types more. Also you could even remove the points entirely and just make the player survive. Let him switch shiels to be able to block the two types instead of giving him just more points. Also the instructions were a bit to long, try to boil them down a bit more.
The post-processing and the particles ahh so good 5/5 on graphics!
Did you use HDRP?
Hey @ben-taylor, from my experience, you might have to right-click the app and select open. Also maybe "chmod +x" on the app will work? However I barely know anything about mac. I'll try to make a WebGL build, but the game is probably too heavy for web browsers
I tried to play, but it seems your mediafire link for the linux version is wrong.
Like others have mentioned, looks really nice, could see it working well with an upgrade system or something similar.
Classic idea but well executed. Very pretty and satisfying to play. Well done!
@despdair nope, we used the Post Processing stack, VFX Graph for particles, and some custom post processing for the shadows! :)
I agree that there could be more visual difference between the asteroid types, but overall very nice graphics. Simple concept but well made.
@ugghmaster oops, should be fixed in a few minutes :P
Great game that fits the theme very well. The visuals were a treat.
haha gpu goes brr
Fun game.
Good job, this game is very clean.
Incredibly basic game.... but a really fun one at that! Everything is polished to the max, good job.
Hey, loved your game, the concept is very fun (with the mode switching especially, it brings a lot to the experience in my opinion). I think it would be better to have the mouse not stick to the grid, I understand it being WAY easier programmaticaly, but it makes the game unnecessarily hard as the pace goes up. Maybe the solution could be using WASD or the arrow keys to control the GADS instead.
An HTML5 version would be cool also to compare scoreboards
Nice visuals! Was fun ;)
Simple yet fun game. The addition of leaderboards is cool! I really loved the graphics and effects you had there. Good job!
On my version I didn't get the text/tuto :/ Same comment that above : more differences between the two types of asteroids will be great. Nice particles. I like that the earth and asteroids are really different graphic styles.
@thegamer1123211 It looks really cool, I should look at that. Do you have any idea on mobile performance?
Nice execution for this conncept. I actually enjoyed playing this game! :D The biggest thing that bothered me is that shield was not well syncronised with the mouse, it was stucking behind. Maybe disable lock on 8 directions for shield and make it just move freely around planet - at higher difficulty I was not able to defend myself because shield was too slow.
damn i really really love the graphics and the sound
great graphics. Some better controls would be good - someone already mentioned removing direction locking and maybe moving mode switching to mouse button. Also in first phase I thought this is rhythm game - maybe syncing with music would help?
Well done! This is a very good entry in the overall. The mouse control is sometimes a bit capricious but I had the same issue on my game and I can't figure out a way to make it smooth and intuitive. Also switching shields could have been done using only one button, like mouse click, as there are only two of them.
The link to the linux build is wrong! (same as windows)
@voidsay @tadej the linux link should be fixed now.
Gorgeous visuals. My laptop really struggled to run this even with the post processing disabled, which seems odd for such a simple game (I'm running the linux version), so can't really comment too much on the gameplay because of how laggy the game was. But lovely art and atmospheric music. Seems very polished and liked the concept. Well done :)
Really nice looking game. Intense gameplay. Very well done. Thanks for the game.
What an excellent game! Great visuals, I love the handdrawn sprites combined with the more realistic effects. And man does it get challenging after a while. Controls were very responsive as well so I only have myself to blame for letting our planet die!
Awesome!
The graphics are nice. But I don't understood the difference between the two shields
@curtis-pelissier The difference is you get more points of you use the second shield on the gold asteroids, but no points on normal ones. We should maybe make that a bit more clear
The graphics are very pretty, great presentation!
I've watched a lot of talks about a subject you're probably familiar with; that is game feel/juice. I feel like this game is a perfect example of what game feel is and how it makes a game better. I loved the particle effects that you've created for this game, they really make it pop and feel alive. I also thought the shield "snapping" to a position was good as well as it made it feel more fluid and prevented the distraction of having a wobbling hand. I liked the game, nice and simple, it reminded me a bit of the battle against Undyne in undertale.
@sir-magic it was actually the undyne fight that inspired us to make this game!
@awerar Wow! I would only know because I was stuck on it for hours
Very nice graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/Kfcxq_4FEeU
Excellent graphics, especially the particles <3 Still I got a bit of problem with the control, I'd prefer a bit of keyboard maneuvering over mouse-only.
Whew this was a tough game. I think I lost my internship :(
This game is super polished and it is finished game with story, effects, cool music, leaderboards, even working settings section! My only tiny problem is restricted shield movement. It feels a bit stiff, and I personally like free movement, but it is just mine personal preference and even current scheme done well.
