Interesting medieval delivery service. I loved the graphics and music, they were really cool and fitting game very well. On the last level my framerate dropped quite significantly, but it was still playable (around 30fps I believe). I wish there was a way to skip the post-shot animation, as it just took too much time.

patrick-leonard 2023-05-03 02:08

This game is so much fun! The trebuchet animation and physics was awesome! Loved the environment design, reminds me of "Besiege"! Super awesome game!

blo 2023-05-03 02:30

Its very fun!!! i like the graphics and its very satisfying when you launch a package just right! sometimes the white text blends in with the background though, but overall its very well polished (i very much like the transition with the wireframes)

ylaxus 2023-05-03 02:35

The game is awesome! The animations, levels, graphics, physics are really impressive! Great job!

I am always a fan of games like this. For a small simple game this game is very well done. I really like the art and the sound. They both go well together. I really enjoyed how the trebuchet materialized into the scene at beginning of each level The controls are easy to use. I would have liked the trebuchet to remember its position when I miss the target, especially on those targets that require me to turn 180 degrees. Otherwise I had fun. Thanks.

aderpychickenstudios 2023-05-03 02:38

I really like the concept and think its a really fun idea, however I think some big improvements that could be made are to reduce the amount of time it takes to reset. With this game being about trial and error having to wait 5-10 seconds after every shot can get tiresome fast so maybe a button to skip would be really good. On the same not I think having the player maintain their rotation after every shot would also be really nice. Overall really good job!

phyrocast 2023-05-03 02:42

Super fun! It's an awesome mechanic, simple but efficient, and I'd love to see more!

francis 2023-05-03 09:26

Title screen is cool! Overall the graphics were well done. I like the trebuchet mechanic, it feels fun to learn and its satisfying landing the perfect shot. I think there's potential here, however... I think the biggest problem for me that made me not want to play more was that missing is just too punishing. It takes a while to learn the mechanic, but everytime I miss I'm forced to watch this cutscene that's way too long. Even if the package just hits the ground immediately, the cutscene is still there.

zgragselus 2023-05-03 15:46

Thanks for the feedback, once I'm out of working hours, I'll leave feedback on your games back!

@apoly Thanks! I've added a small patch that allows to skip the post-shot animation. I have also updated the last level detail distance (decreased it to 25% from original - too big - value).

@milano23 Thanks! The rotation reset is annoying once you have to fire multiple times. I've updated that in v2 version for future players.

@aderpychickenstudios Thanks! There is a small patch that maintains rotation after reloading the trebuchet. I've also added a Skip button to the top (you can skip already in flight - or at any point after (before trebuchet is reloaded), but that way you won't get score if it would hit).

@francis Thanks! I've pushed small patch that allows you to skip the cutscene at any point. Of course if you would hit, but skip way too early - it won't count (package needs to stop before score is updated).

@ylaxus @phyrocast @blo Thanks for playing!

@patrick-leonard Thanks! I got inspired a bit by Besiege style, yeah.

You made wrote in your description that the postal service ran out of money... The first thing I thought of was how in medieval times the amount of people who could operate trebuchets were few and far between, and that they were all stupidly wealthy because of how valuable their knowledge was. I laughed a lot.

As far as the game is concerned, you captured the "a peasant tries to launch a trebuchet" feeling exactly... and I laughed again.

I think my complaint is that the game gets dull fast since the amount variation in what your doing is small.

andygates01 2023-05-04 04:54

Pretty fun for a while. I did find it quite difficult to time the shots and found it easier to hit the target by slamming into the ground in almost all cases, I think exacerbated by the fact that most shots were fairly short range.

The UI will also often blend into the sky making it difficult to read, and the camera rotation seems to be very fast making it a bit awkward to rotate.

However, the graphics were great the transitions looked really nice and the trebuchet itself functioned really well. I did play all the way through and had a good time, but if it was to be expanded further it would need to start introducing some new mechanics.

Great job overall though!

incept 2023-05-04 09:39

This game is surprisingly satisfying I had a ton of fun playing it!

chybby 2023-05-04 09:41

Finished all the levels. This was pretty fun! The realistic trebuchet physics were really satisfying and I liked the attention to detail that went into the environment.

Took me a while to figure out I had to click the skip text to skip.

smdaniels 2023-05-04 17:54

Nice representation of theme! Game is satisfying. I think white ground is to bright , eyes gets tired very fast. Good job anyway!

trevor-lentz 2023-05-04 23:58

I really enjoyed how the world loads in objects and how it plays. Frame-rate was very smooth for me, and it's more difficult than I expected. Very impressive graphics for a jam game. :) Well done.

technoporg 2023-05-05 01:07

As others have said, the graphics were definitely where this game shone. In terms of audio, I did find the trebuchet rotation to be unpleasantly squeaky. Gameplay was more repetitive than some games, but still fun. I appreciate that the skip feature was added for when my shots went horribly wrong!

ruddiculous 2023-05-05 06:16

the trebuchet physics and rigging were really satisfying to play with! simple and well put together mechanic. I wish the thing didn't keep moving after i was rotating so i would have to feather back and forth. Having to reset the position every time was a bit of a burden and I desperately wish you could quick reset a launch to toss a new one when you know you've missed already. That being said i do appreciate the camera zoom on your box after, felt like a charming game of golf! The simplicity is this games strong suit, i enjoyed it, just needed a couple details to basically turn it into a more polished trebuchet golf game lol. also when you get to the end the game music keeps playing over the menu music! but really nice work, keep on jammin

thormoth 2023-05-05 09:52

Really cool game, the physics of the trebuchet feels great and i love the sound effects/music. Especially love the blueprint fade in of the trebuchet. Would have liked a pause menu and I feel like the rotating of the spectate cam could be improved (I kept on wanting to rotate around the box and look back at the trebuchet). skipping the replay was my only other complaint, but i see it's already fixed in the v2. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

darkwolf 2023-05-07 00:19

Despite missing the majority of my launches, the combination of blueprint loading screen, white void, and calm music somehow made me feel like I knew what I was doing. My one bit of feedback is that the camera seems very sensitive to rotation, but not enough to zooming. Overall a fun game, nice work!

rocket-and-blanky 2023-05-07 02:31

Haha, I loved this! Trebuchet disc golf! The shaders were really effective and the loading animations were super cool. I found out if I pegged the package right at the post, it'll stop dead in its tracks. Victory!

droo-shayne 2023-05-07 02:35

Awesome trebuchet sim! The tutorial dialogue at the beginning was both helpful and funny. Maybe consider tuning down some of the effects- the environment was a little too bright and shimmery, and I couldn't read the white text without moving my camera often. Something else that could make the game less trial-and-error-ish could be to add some kind of indicator that allows the player to have a rough idea of where the package will land. I know animating an arc like this may defeat some of the game's purpose, but anything that could help the player better learn the timings of when to release could make it more fun. Overall, cool game.

jacobingalls 2023-05-07 02:36

While playing the second level I really wished that the ground was not white as it was blowing out the HDRP, so when the third level was green I was very happy. Seemed like those levels should have been in the other order. Maybe its just me, but I found that sending a package over a tree was harder than all the other ones.

Would be kind of interesting to make it kind of a mini-golf game where you have to shoot it from where it landed and you can only damage the package so much.

nastasya 2023-05-08 18:44

This game is interesting! Good job!

dxk2294 2023-05-09 07:40

Very calming, nice visuals. The skip button was quite hard to see, and the bright white background of the first couple stages in particular were blinding. But I enjoyed my time playing the game! After a while, I started to get a hang of trebuchet. Nice job!

beebster-games 2023-05-09 12:50

@zgragselus Brother, I just loved your game. It was exceptional.

Could you share the math you used for throwing the package, as well as the physics for the box bouncing around. I know a lot of it is part of the physics in the object, but I am not sure the math is.

Again, just a great job.

bluedandelion 2023-05-09 19:05

This is a very unique entry! I loved it! Good job!

serialkamikaze 2023-05-09 19:06

This was fun to play! It feels the modern, real, post offices nowadays use similar techniques to deliver the packages as they are in so bad shape sometimes.

svdvorak 2023-05-10 17:25

That was a pretty hilarious concept and well executed! Never knew how fun it could be flinging packages using a trebuchet. Good level of polish and good addition with the tutorial at the start. I do agree with the others, some sounds repeat a lot, like the turn sound and the package bounce sound. But overall, great work!

wakobu 2023-05-10 21:40

Very neat entry! Trebuchet's throwing is really satifying! Great job

xhadie 2023-05-12 17:38

The concept is so fun and the game has a really cool vibe to it! Music and sounds are also really fitting! I found it a bit tooo difficult though! Making the targets a bit easier to hit or clearer where the acceptance radius is would be a bit nicer towards the player. Really solid entry, well done!

nazar-balutin 2023-05-14 12:46

I had some fun to deliver packages with the trebuchet! In my opinion, it would be better if there were medieval music for more immersion.

danyclockworker 2023-05-15 12:00

The game is great but with just a few fixes it can be made even better: 1) Remove the long span of the camera, it should be faster than 2 times. Too much interpolation. 2) Pull out the skip on a separate key, and if the player misses, immediately skip the move. 3) Speed up trebuchet rotation 4) During the flight, bring the camera closer to the box, this will add dynamics.

sleepystudios 2023-05-19 22:08

The first couple of levels felt really cinematic with the epic trebuchet and high bloom levels (although that did obscure some of the UI). Getting the deliveries near the flags was super satisfying although one thing I would add would be some sort of indicator around the flag that defines the success area, otherwise you're kept guessing until the last minute. Nice work!

matt-swieboda 2023-05-19 22:59

oh man this is giving me serious Age of Empires II: Age of Kings vibes, I love it!
