Interesting game. I like that you've made this game without any game engine.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Deeper Fishing

Interesting game. I like that you've made this game without any game engine.
Nice spin. Didn't catch many fish though.
Interesting game mechanic. Took me a few tries to figure out the controls, as there is so little visual feedback. But I made 166$! Good work!
Nice game :) At first I was a bit confused why I would always throw to 50 meters while the display featured 43 digits. Once I got the hang of it, it was pretty fun.
I like the presentation and the design of the idea, it's an original fishing game, the animation can be polish for better effect. Control is simple, sound good. That's a good work !
Good work, Nice to be made by only one person and no engine.!
I love the sounds, but the game is hard to get into.
The sounds really add to the atmosphere! The game was a little confusing at first but when I got the hang of it, it was really fun :3 Love the graphics too!! Makes me feel nostalgic for games I used to play back in the day x3
For some reason I couldn't hear the sound )I'm on a Mac) Very well done for your first Ludom Dare! There's definitely things like the UI that could be improved but a good entry to start with, looking forward to see more games in the future! :)
@lucisaurus it looks like there can be problems with my audio function on Safari browser, i´d love to look for a work around but for now if u have it, try it with chrome - that should work even on mac
Pretty good, love the unique art style, really creative. Really straightforward.
Very cool idea and I'm kind of blown away that this is pure JS. The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward and could probably be more engaging, but as more of a fishing "simulator" it's neat. Watching the roll spin is also strangely satisfying.
Very nicely done, tricky to learn but managed to make a little money. Good job!
Once I realized I needed to look at the coordinates to figure out where I was on the map the game really opened up. Giving a distance on the graphic would probably make the game easier for people to pick up, but I was still able to grab a good amount of fish :) Your sound effects are realistic and I liked the animations you had. Really good job for compo!
this is way more fun than fishing in real life! impressive javascript-fu
Nice little fishing game! It is cool concept not to show the hook as I had to follow the numbers and depth meters. Little animations and sounds were also nice.
Was able to catch all fishes in the water! :v: And went deeper then. Thanks for the fun, and well done!
good idea, i would like to have a tracker or some indicator that could help me understand where am i throwing the line.
it took me a little wihle to understand how it works, after that i can feel the joy of fishing, good job!
Orignal idea, agree with @cheesepencil, fishing is more fun in this game.
You have to add more feedbacks, it's very hard to understand where is the hook. Also add more effects to make the game juicy.
Overall good job (specialy for a first jam  )
Cool game! I like the one button concept.
This feels quite nostalgic for me, especially the sound effect reminds me of an old point and click game I played when I was a kid. The simple art style as well. Fun, challenging and you wrote a good tutorial imo! Great job!
.
Such a simple game, but a cool idea :D
I love this simple game, it make me remember the childhood play flash game, I realy love your idea. it is sample and good
it's quite hard to catch a fish, but I like it. I love the fact that you used paint.net
Certainly an interesting concept - I like the idea of fishing with limited information! Though, I could not really find a use to "go deeper." Overall, well done :)
Hey, congrats for your first game and first Ludum Dare!
As others have said, the hardest part was understanding how to play. To me, the game felt like a puzzle at first (and I tend to hate puzzles :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) -- seriously, no metaphors, it _really_ felt like a puzzle to me.
I think think things clicked the moment I understood my hook was at some spot on the 2D place, and using the reel would bring the hook diagonally -- upwards and towards the right. It made sense to me, but only after I understood it!
After I learned how it worked, it was better than I thought it could be! Quite fun for such a simple game!
Given my experience, the obvious suggestion is to improve the how to play instructions
Hope you'll be back on the next Ludum Dare!
