LD27 — 10 Seconds

My Tenth Adventure by DiscoFish 2013-08-30T12:01:00

Loved the presentation, the weird voices (great intro!), the sounds, and the central concept. It was like a game representation of introversion.

As was said, very Super Brothers Sword and Sorcery, but with some cool ideas in its own right.

Could have used more length and more integration between the smartphone and the rest of the game; they felt a bit disconnected from each other.

Clocked In by rylgh 2013-08-29T10:52:00

I like how the polar navigation made it feel a little like you were bending spacetime by cutting through the middle. I also liked how the next level is constantly fading into view.

Good pacing, with tough challenges followed by a little room to breathe. I made it to 27! So close!

It would have been nice if the music changed as you progressed. And less twitchy gamers such as myself wouldn't mind some heart refills here and there.

Great job.

10 Second Tai by Teejay5 2013-08-28T05:28:00

This was really entertaining and a wonderful "gamification" of a common experience. The over-the-topness sold it. The controls were a little loose and hard to get working in points, but overall very enjoyable.

MOONTRIP by chocobyte 2013-08-28T05:41:00

Most of the time I didn't really know what I was doing, as the jumping was hard to control deliberately, but after I just held the up key and wiggled around I eventually made it to the goal.

I liked the little splash of humor but I couldn't find any "actual" ending to it. The game part of it could have used more depth and/or clearer controls, however the actual experience of ascending to space was surprisingly compelling. Keep at it!

10 Seconds Quest by Nora Shishi 2013-08-29T10:37:00

Harder on a tap-to-click touchpad!

Altair 409 by drakekin 2013-08-28T05:45:00

The link sends the user to a Dropbox download page, for a single HTML file. I assume it's intended to run from Dropbox instead of being a download. Let us know when it's working, I'd love to check this one out.

Ten Seconds of Thrust by flarb 2013-08-28T05:33:00

I kind of made it into a game of "launch yourself into the ground at as high a velocity as possible". Fun!

Day of the Vampire by drilltail 2013-08-26T07:34:00

That was a really enjoyable quick experience! The precision digging and timing challenges toward the end had just the right balance of challenge vs. pure panic.

Dimming by Kep 2013-08-26T07:47:00

Great concept that's definitely worthy of further development.

10 seconds til Midnight by nolann 2013-08-28T05:59:00

I liked the twitch necessary to track the ridiculously fast witch. Overall the game was a bit too simple, however, and only held my attention for a few plays. Needs more variation, in levels and in witch behavior.

Plus, a bit of personal bias here, I'd rather play the witch >:D

10 Seconds in Hell by AmyDee 2013-08-26T07:36:00

Thanks for the input! There are audio cues that hint at several possibilities, but they don't play during the intro dialog. They only play afterward, when the cursor shows the item name text, which is a bit unclear.

10 Seconds in Hell by AmyDee 2013-08-26T07:39:00

Oh and one tip for players using the web version: Since I didn't get mouselock to work for the web version in time, it's a lot easier if you use Q + E instead of the mouse buttons.

10 Seconds in Hell by AmyDee 2013-08-28T05:26:00

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I'm glad people got a lot out of it and that the mood I was going for came across!

10 Seconds in Hell by AmyDee 2013-08-29T04:36:00

I recorded them by using OSX's text-to-speech feature. I originally planned to use them as placeholders and replace them with real voice acting, but I ran out of time and the synth voices worked strangely well anyway.

Project: "Explosion" by Simple Ghost 2013-08-26T05:56:00

Great game, love the concept. The main thing that would have improved it IMO was a "detonate bomb" button, and tighter movement controls to compensate for the time dilation. Great work and tons of fun!

10 Second Dungeon Hero by sP0CkEr2 2013-08-28T05:54:00

The time limit on rooms was an entertaining twist. The bosses felt a little too easy; all I had to do was min/max my stats and they hid in the corner. Very simple but also enjoyable.

The Paper Dance by TravisChen 2014-12-09T00:46:00

The aesthetics are lovely, and it's refreshing to see something like ballet appear in a game. The play itself seemed a little thin (pardon my language) and felt like it dragged on for too long. I enjoyed the ramping up of activity toward the end, and the overall concept was great.

Game of Youth by Thorig 2014-12-08T19:38:00

The premise is really sweet :) Wish the enemies arrived faster and there was more room for error (life, lives, etc).

To Continue by raincole 2014-12-08T19:46:00

Tough until you get the hang of it, really love the concept. Worthy of expansion!

Waiting in the Sky by Ysty 2014-12-09T23:23:00

Some of the audio felt like it cut off too quickly. Great concept though. The more advanced shape-matching bits started to get real interesting. Oh and cool font :)

SCREEN HEAD by NickZangus 2014-12-10T02:01:00

Silly fun with just enough depth to not be 100% mindless :D Great job. I encountered a bug at the end where I couldn't complete because one of the guys lost his bounding box and became invincible/stationary. (Played on OSX Yosemite in Safari.)

Haha that is amazing :D Thank you for playing!

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-08T20:00:00

Thanks laxeot, I did a lot of last-minute coding to try and get the text input clean, it could still use work!

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-09T00:48:00

Ah the TRS-80! So many memories!

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-09T01:15:00

liquidmedia, it should be just typing for about 3 minutes. If it went beyond that there was a bug. What version were you running?

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-10T01:51:00

@rodobodolfo, what OS and browser were you using?

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-10T01:52:00

@lissar, aaronjbaptiste, MjSpeCter, Blobby101, thank you so much! Glad people have been moved and/or found humor in it, either way that's pretty awesome.

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-11T03:15:00

mrexcessive, if you're up for trying it again, remember to use the privacy screen (TAB)

Confessional by AmyDee 2014-12-21T02:57:00

Thank you all for the comments! Really appreciate your insight and experiences playing.

Thanks everyone who voted for getting me in the top 15 for mood, and for the fantastic feedback!

The Last Room by Lissar 2014-12-10T06:45:00

I like the single wiiide scrolling screen. Interesting aspect ratio for a game. The ending threw me off a little because it happened quick and could have used some more visual clarity. Great buildup though.

Spiral Wings by Joe Williamson 2014-12-09T00:31:00

Great experience! Short and sweet with some lovely aesthetics.

Screen Door Panic! by XenosNS 2014-12-09T00:51:00

That darn cat! Cute and enjoyable experience, a little tougher on touchpad vs. mouse as swatting the cat seemed to require dragging and not just clicking :D

Space the Neverending Adventure of Killing in Epic-scale by muumeroinen 2014-12-09T23:46:00

Proof that multitasking is dangerous. Reminds me of how my dad used to drive, with a cup of coffee in one hand and newspaper in the other.

Room Nr.6 by PriorBlue 2014-12-10T00:55:00

Once I figured out how the rotations were working, this was pretty great. The crates sometimes slid in weird ways, causing problems, and you can easily reach a no-win state if you're not careful. Apart from that, good game.

Snakkke by ratking 2014-12-10T00:25:00

That broke my brain for a bit. Love it.

Off to a great start! Best of luck next time around :D

Information SuperHighway 1983 by Blobby101 2014-12-10T06:35:00

That's an ooooold school modem, love it. Accidentally kept typing DOS commands like dir /w.

The X of Y by Homletmoo 2014-12-08T19:56:00

Attack might be missing due to time constraints, but I think this is proof we need a dungeon parkour roguelike.

Orion by feiss 2014-12-08T20:16:00

I was off to a great start and then I think I got a memory leak a few minutes in. OSX Yosemite, Safari. (Safari seems to have memory issues itself right now, may not be the app.)

Orion by feiss 2014-12-09T00:07:00

Ok it broke in Safari and Firefox on OSX, but I got it to work on Chrome. Great experience! Felt anxious as the countdown began.
