nice
cute as hell, the art work is fabulous!!
Nice game ! I like the art of the character. The controls are very smooth. Some platform are little bit too high to jump easy on it.
Overall, it's very fun.
Spooky ending, loved it :)
What a change of mood ! ;) Nice job.
That was unexpected! But I really liked the visuals. In some places it got a bit frustrating failing over and over again when bashing my head on the ceiling, but maybe I'm just bad :D.
The graphics are so cute and I love the sound effects! The twist at the end was super unexpected.
So cute art, the first half just feels like the gentle game a father made for his son during this gamejam. And then there is the second half,... I realy liked the turn of things, and the voices - made me feel a little bit like back in the Animal Crossing days
:star: ___ :star:
Yeah, I spent like 30 attempts trying to get the kazoo.
I really wanted to enjoy this because it is well finished off but I found it frustrating to play. I may just be bad but it felt like some of the gaps to jump were annoyingly difficult as opposed to enjoyably difficult, if that makes sense? That being said, fantastic art.
cute game. the controls could need some tweaking but all in all a fun experience.
Really nice music and heartwarming start. The end was an unexpected twist which was fun. the movement felt a little too fast, but was really good.
The turn in mood was surprising and quite cool. Although the jump mechanics were a bit frustrating for me. :D
sorry about the kazoo jump, everyone! I got too used to playing through my own janky platforming :)
Should make twist moment more longer, imho. Cool game overall!
I was not expenting that at all, great game!
It's so cute and fun! Well done
Cute squirrels and the art style is CLEAN! Very nice.
Kazoo was impossible and gravity felt a little too heavy, but other than that I enjoyed it!
Smooth controls and a nicely spooky twist. Very neat!
Nice game! Good luck!.
Very cute little game. The twist was a great touch! I do wish I was able to see the little cutscene more as it felt too quick. The puzzles were smart but unfortunately it was more frustrating than it was enjoyable. The pixel art is lovely and it has some good audio.
Cute little game. It's nice that you get to practice all the jumps in the first half. It would be nice if there was a bit of time pressure or something in the second half. Trying to make those jumps would have been a bit more fun if I was more afraid of missing them.
The art and sounds on this game are fantastic - the first time I heard the squirrels chatter I cracked up. I have to admit I didn't expect the reveal at all - that was amazing.
I did struggle kind of a lot with the jumps - I won't harp on it since a few people already pointed it out. Once I realized holding jump made me go higher I struggled a bit less, but it took a good bit of getting used to.
That said I had fun with this, and it got a good chuckle out of me too, which is always a plus.
!> Can't sleep squirrels will get me Can't sleep squirrels will get me Can't sleep squirrels will get me
Cool game, and I like the aesthetic. I think the core mechanics here are a little difficult, and the challenge came from loose platforming rather than challenging level design. The last item with a small jump to clear was super hard just because the collisions were so unforgiving. Would love to see more developed mechanics in this really cool looking world/setting.
Well that escalated quickly, didnt expect that kind of party hah.
The jumping was a bit frustrating, had a hard time getting to some ledges, but maybe thats what you were going for.
Liked the audio and the mood change half way through.
Nice job.
I'm not sure if it's because I'm on Mac, but unfortunately I can't seem to get the game to start. The title screen appears and I hear the character jumping and walking when I press the inputs, but don't see anything other than the title :(
@rosypenguin Hi, sorry about that! The start button is actually at the bottom that says "Party!" If you click on that, you can get started on the game. Hope you enjoy! :)
@jinny-kang ah! Turns out my laptop resolution caused the game to fall out of my browser at 100% scale! This is what I was seeing: treehouse.png
In the future, it would help to publish the game in a smaller, more common resolution, for browser, or set the game to be responsive and fit in any size browser. (I believe itch.io would do that automatically)
Now on to play the game!
@rosypenguin Thank you for letting us know! We'll definitely keep that in mind next time
Ok I got to say, even after seeing in the comments that the game got dark, I still jumped at that scene in the middle; the mood whiplash is great! I loved the squirrel voices and how dark the dialogue got in the end. I agree with the others about the jumping physics; it could use a little refining on the detection of whether you're on an edge of a platform, and the falls could be slower to allow for more precise aim. But otherwise I had fun with this, great job.
You got me with the nightmare. Didn’t think it would end in a horror story. I believe it’s a solid entry if you are starting out with game development. Consider reaching out to the service of itch.io. I know everybody is doing it, but I guess it will give you some more time for other issues or feature improvements. If you consider trying out ldjam again, then maybe go for a sample webgl build with unity and afterwards publish it on itch.io. It will reduce your headache during the jam itself when you got a feeling for your tools.
