Interesting concept. Continue improving the story and it would be a great game to play.

Ambitious plan for LD :) nice foxes, great birds scene, all the best in finishing this :)

buko-studios 2015-04-20 13:08

I like the scene, its a nice prototype for what it is!
I'd try this again when it is a little further along.

Very nice, would have loved to see more ! Also had a moment in the end with bot languages at the same time.

Loved the art. Once finished, I think it would be fun!

Unfortunate that you didn't have the time to finish this. I love the concept and the whimsical graphics, and the mechanics seem solid. I'll check back later to see if you have developed this further.

Love the art style! One issue I had was I was pressing right to advance the story, but pressed it again too quickly and accidentally chose a story option I didn't want. I think having a different control button to advance to the next scene would help.

I couldn't play it for the web version, I don't know how to "go next" after the first sentence. I tried to click, the space bar, enter key. I'm using Firefox.

The Windows version is missing the "Goupil_Data" folder. I'd really like to test this game to show it to my daughter, she was very interested on how to make a game when I was coding mine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

-I guess that the language bugs are, like they say, "not bugs, but features" =D
It's just that I didn't had time to make all the pictures, so I put in black pics with a sentence describing what should be here, both in french and english.
But if there is a language bug beside of this, please say it.

-Ranmara: Thanks for the advice!

-Mathieu: It was the arrow keys to advance in the game, sorry I not said it before ^^'
I also remade the Win/Mac/Linux versions, it should work now.

I love the art! I hope you continue to develop this, I want to know how the story unfolds!

bubuiic 2015-04-22 09:20

Great art. Please work on the game, it would be really cool to have it finished.

orangespikygames 2015-04-26 10:16

Nice starting point, could be really cool with more time.

rburema 2015-04-26 10:46

thoughts:
- aah! sudden sound effect!
- I really like the graphics, they give a sense of dynamism, despite being fixed

Storytelling games are quite ambitious for a game jam, but that's a nice try. It's not finished, but you laid out a nice beginning for the game. Graphics are nice and it feels like an old adventure game mixed with a children's storybook (which is really nice).

I set the volume a little bit high while playing so I really ended up jumping from my chair when I heard the shot. :P

P.s.: played the web version and the development console popped up in front of the game. :/

Good work, ambitous doing graphics for a 48h jam :) Remember reading standard children books to my kid brothers a few years ago, and I can see that stuff like this would be a good update (for tablets) .. so while reading you could ask the kid what they want to do and have a good little interactive story instead of just flipping pages.
