LD37 — One room

13 jellyfish by Four Quarters 2016-12-13T13:40:00

Wow, this game is really engaging while meeting the one room theme. The constant switching out of crew doesn't become boring as the optimal timing is difficult, and the charming animations keep it from being boring. The music is fitting to give a 'swashbuckling pirate' feel. The two crew on deck and the tiny ship really emphasizes how cramped and 'one room' it feels like. To improve the game, maybe make the warnings coming in even more prominent (flashing, large), and maybe have the pirates tell jokes to each other and talk while doing their job, it would add more character.

Defeat the Kraken by quentinus60 2016-12-13T08:26:00

I love how each tentacle is like a mini-game puzzle boss fight, and each of them are challenging and different. However, the game doesn't really fit the theme of the jam, so it has room for improvement.

Bad Dreams by Dogeveloper 2016-12-13T05:13:00

I really like the nightmarish/surreal mood that's been set, you did a good job with the strange colours and scenery. Criticism wise, I felt the tutorial was a little long winded and I couldn't get into the gameplay properly. Adding a time counter for time stood in lava and making the death screen shorter can improve it.

Anyone running Windows 10 with the game dl'd, can you run the game from the terminal to get the error thrown? Instructions: Shift+rightclick to open cmd prompt in the main game directory, then type OneCockatTheTop.exe. This should keep the window open after crashing.

One Cock at The Top by kn2322 2016-12-15T00:30:00

@eruiz00 Kivy feels half way between an engine like Unity and SDL, since you have to code in all the physics, camera, and the like. But as my first interaction with coding a game,

One Cock at The Top by kn2322 2016-12-15T00:31:00

@eruiz00 It's helped me learn a lot about how a game works. So don't be let down if it has a slow start :).

Brian by Noxim 2016-12-13T13:13:00

I really enjoyed this game, mainly because of the great voice acting and humour in the narration, and how well the game's message fits the theme. However, it would be improved with maybe branching story paths (if there wasn't) and more just misc. fun stuff while waiting. Something like a bouncy ball to knock around. Overall, 8/10 for game jam :).

Lost In The Dance by Lukeryn 2016-12-13T08:19:00

Amazing voice acting and atmosphere set up by high quality graphics + post processing. The slightly crazy narrator really gave it a Stanley Parable kind of feel, really mysterious but somehow related to you. I also love the story telling with how the actual context is left for speculation. To improve this game, I think the walk needs to be smoother with less bobbing, and the collision physics need to be fixed. Overall, amazing small adventure game fitting the theme of ldjam37.

Escape The Room by egordorichev 2016-12-13T07:19:00

I love how this game is using a basic version of a dungeon crawler-roguelike engine, with the ascii art, examining, FoV and the like. The game's relaxing to play, the lack of enemies and soothing music helping with that. Improvements: Maybe less random rocks and repeated shop items? Can make it more well meshed and challenging. Also the movements are not super responsive. Overall pretty great :D.

American Life by headlein 2016-12-13T05:24:00

While I haven't downloaded the game, the 600+ MB file size really put me off, is there enough content to justify the large size?

Chrome Room by Palarus 2016-12-13T07:43:00

The graphics are really great, and the game concept is fairly solid (feels like typical mobile puzzle game), I love how all the patterns/colours are semi randomized. The only thing is maybe having an indicator of shooting angle, and shorten the time in between attempts (By ALOT, think Super Meat Boy).

Invasion of New Svetovid [IONS] by Loginaut 2016-12-13T06:43:00

Atmosphere is great, gun mechanics are solid, and the controls are pretty tight. The problems are well, not enough content. But with more work I'm sure it'll turn out great! :P

Heavens Inc. by komjaur 2016-12-13T03:14:00

This game is creative and is quite fun, it looks like it took a lot of inspiration from the game Reigns. Its just with that in mind, its a bit boring. The artwork is very stylish but it pays no attention to the theme. I give it a 8.5/10.

The Employee by pLaw 2016-12-13T03:03:00

Great work!

I love how clean the UI is, and the intuitive floating space bar that comes up when an action is possible, makes it really easy to figure out what to do. Another highlight is the use of the theme, the flipping and always coming back to the same room, really adds to the 'monotonous' mood. What you can improve on is probably having more interesting gameplay and humour.

Room 007 by Lancelot Gao 2016-12-13T10:46:00

Great small bundle of a game, everything is packaged nicely with the theme, gameplay, and graphics. The concept is pretty great imo, especially with the crazy physics interactions. Overall, awesome entry.

Taken for Granite by nwestninja 2016-12-13T04:09:00

I love the weird fantasy-modern setting of the game, it makes it really quite funny at parts. Criticism wise, the story felt a little bit forced at the ending, since the gameplay and characters weren't related, and the characters weren't developed.

Can into space by Ogniok 2016-12-13T04:53:00

Wow, the graphics are absolutely stunning :o. Everything else is really good as well except for the unit controls being a little finicky and the game not really fitting in the theme.

Three Minutes to Midnight by BlueTheLemon 2016-12-14T07:50:00

Awesome game! I love all the references to real world politics, and some of the ridiculous things like a rep asking for coffee money. The gameplay is nothing new, similar to REIGNS, but the writing and atmosphere makes up for it. To improve, maybe add more atmospheric audio, and fix the spam click bug.

Complete Amateurs Christmas Card Maker 2016 [OFFICIAL] by peterthehe 2016-12-14T07:27:00

I enjoyed this one bc some of the songs are nice and funny, even though it's not exactly a 'game' :P. To improve, maybe add more backgrounds, fonts, and messages. Merry Christmas.

Abducted by HUMANICS 2016-12-13T13:26:00

Sorta enjoyable, the music and lighting really made the skeletons scary (to me at least :)). Otherwise though, the strategy for getting out is really unclear without trial and error, after 3 tries, I got to the door, but didn't have the key! So I stopped because I had no way of knowing that I needed to get a key. The graphics are also pretty nice. Next steps: Make throwing physics less finicky, make clear the way to get out of the room.

Otaku Den by Tezra 2016-12-13T05:22:00

I enjoyed the pixel art and music of this game, especially all of the funny parody items. Otherwise, the gameplay wasn't spectacular. Maybe adding more item sizes and changing store deal times will make it more tense and enjoyable. Bug: Buying an item that you don't have room to put into the room will leave it stuck floating.

Monolith by ScreamRawr 2016-12-14T07:22:00

I love the 3d platformer genre used for this game, and the 2d sprite really gave it a Fez-like feel. The puzzles were well designed, since you had to move back and forth and some keys really needed you to master the new powerup. To improve, maybe make the combat a more prominent part? Since it's much easier to just skip everything. The 2d sprite also made back and forward jumps hard to land. Overall, 8.5/10

Squiddy by Tribbs 2016-12-13T06:55:00

This game is simple, yet fun! Although it doesn't really fit the theme, the whimsical music and comically imprecise movements/tentacle ragdoll makes it good. Having it require less left mouse clicks would improve it as well, since my fingers were getting sore.

Mr. Barbel VS Hell Vise by onixowl 2016-12-13T06:07:00

This game is really whimsical :D, I have no idea why this guy's getting crushed yet I have to help him? Eventually he gets crushed anyways. The concept is fairly nice, but the gameplay gets repetitive quickly.
