I love the art style. Great jetpack controls.

I love the art style. Great jetpack controls.
I have bookmarked this to play it some more after GoT but after a couple minutes I think this is a fantastic and original idea. I like the presentation so far too. keep going with it!
Nice. I like the tactical element of dealing with attacks from three directions.
This seems very cool and complete except every time I stack it says "Miss" and I get nothing for it.
You win man. I thought this was cool for the first few minutes... then I figured out how to fish. Great work!
Very cool mechanic although in Chrome under Win7 I am having a lot of trouble aiming the light beams accurately because they move so fast.
This is artistically valid.
Stuck pretty early in the game. Used my gamepad. Kept blowing myself up but I'm not sure if that's supposed to achieve anything or if it's meant to be a restart. Nice work.
Very tight controls and solid gameplay. Neat bouncy feel to the graphics and UI. Overall great work. I know you're supposed to avoid the magma but it's too much fun to drown the monsters in molten rock.
You commented about the animation of my game character not bending his knees. Those are just left/right keyframes I would defintely have his knee bending between those two frames. Just to be clear!
I am terrible at this but it's legit. I like the controls. I wish there was a rating for controls. 5/5 for them although the ship could maybe have a tad bit more acceleration.
Fun!
Very fun and absorbing for a little while. Then it randomly ends... is it timed? And I think it's reporting my high score wrong? It said I had$100.. I had like $300. Aside from that great work.
Nice complete game. I feel a kinship with you because I came very close to calling my game DEEP BLUE SEA the game and packaging it like one of those NES movie licensed games. I also thought of using WATERWORLD. In the end I decided against it but that was probably a mistake. But our games are also similar in mechanic. Have to say I expected to see a lot more swimming based games.
Anyhow, back to your game. I beat the second level but got distracted and died anyways. My favourite thing about this game is probably the animation through perspective when the player changes directions. Little touches like that used to blow my mind back in the day when pixel art was a harsh reality and not a freely chosen aesthetic style.
In all seriousness this is a fun game and one of the best entries I've rated.
Very Douglas Adams.
I am amaze.
Fun... you should keep working on it I think it would be a great mobile game.
it's undresponsive for me!
Tried to play web and windows but the links are broken.
The first jumpscare got me. I couldn't figure out what killed me one time. Is that a sax in the opening riff? The drippy audio gives some nice ambience.
I couldn't make any sense of this. Nice art style though.
Is there a way to use the key once you get it?
Controls hard to use in Chrome.
Gravity is way too fast. Strongest element was the music which sounds like late-80s arcade and Sega Genesis music.
Not gonna sign up for an account to play this. Maybe you could move it somewhere else?
eldog, haha thanks. A secondary goal was to get some nice smooth animation in place for the hero. But as you can see it's all keyframes. I'll be continuing work on this game with announcement as to where to play here and on Twitter.
@GreenyUK you're right the camera waits too long to move up or down and there are some jitter issues. I'll shrink the free play zone so that the camera follows closer and the hero character stays more centered.
.. meaning in later versions. Not in this submitted version. Just to be clear.
^lol.
^ thank you Toby. I have taken it (the mechanic) a bit further. Sliding, diving, getting in and out of the water have all been tuned up.
I'll make the link to play an updated version available here when voting is concluded.
Update: I'm still fiddling with the mechanic. And smoothing out the engine. Things are much smoother and it really feels like swimming. At this rate the game will be ready to play in five years. JK kinda.. I am still fiddling with the mechanic but the concept is really coming along too. And the level design philosophy is becoming clear.
The Web link now has the extended version, with a link to play the competition version if you'd like. In the extended version the character has his swimming-related mechanics all tuned up, and a lot of the camera issues are worked out.
Sweet. Very tough. But I dig it.
Very fun. I couldn't beat it in a few tries. Is the wall jumping intentional or a glitch? I'm working on a game that has wall-jumping like in NES Ninja Gaiden.
Great look and feel. After a minute or two I got it and then got good at it.
This is super-tight. I like how you start by walking the hero off the splash screen.
Tough game. But a real game!
Nice. I'm a sucker for pseudo 3D. Much better using mouse for movement.
I got one or two rooms in and was trapped?
Love the 8-bit 3D aesthetic.
Great look to the art. If you keep working on the game you should be able to kill graham crackers and also chocolate and then make some smores.
I actually bookmarked this to come back and play a bit more later. This is a fun little mind-bender.
This is an excellent game. You should take it all the way. Funny it's very similar to what I thought I might try to make at first which is sort of a Poseidon Adventure thing where you are "flocking" through a series of hazardous rooms. This is the best game I've rated so far. Only a couple more then I gotta dip out to pick up some take out and catch the west coast re-run of Game of Thrones!
I'm trying to branch out from diving games. I almost made a game like this but it was going to be horrible lovecraftian worms and such bursting forth and you'd have to burn them. Then I realized that was a huge part of the terrible ALONE IN THE DARK remake from 2008 which I bought for full price. Ugh!
Neat. I made this almost fullscreen on my 30" panel (by using CTRL+ in firefox to scale up the Unity window). At one point I got the level spinning so fast that it started making me slightly nauseous. Funny but I never had motion sickness before getting an Oculus. It seems like I'm much more susceptible to it now.
Great idea. How do I get to kill Celes? She's got to go!!
Web link is broken.
Sweet game, one of my favourites from this LD. It legit feels like an old retro game. In 1985 you would pay $money for this on a Commodore 64. I think this could be expanded into quite a fun experience. Small tip: it might pay to move the SPACEBAR bit of the opening splash down to the bottom where the rest of the controls are listed. I didn't notice the boost at first.
Great game. Very polished and complete and fun. Nice work on the art too. My highest rating so far for this one.
I considered making a pseudo z-axis game for my entry.
I love it. Feels like an old NES game except for the suspension line with it's fine rotation. I especially like the music. I gottta get some chiptunes going.
Yesss. I got the cookies. Nice physics.
Nice easing curves on the flight controls.
I had a lot of random shit happening.
Nice controls/mechanic. There should be separate ratings for soundFX and music. One "audio" score often leaves me feeling conflicted.
I can't get the game to start. Maybe it's Chrome.
