wow I got a highscore of 6263, I was strangely sucked into the game even though it didn't have impressive graphics nor any music. After that first play through though, it doesn't make you have any re playability. I'd suggest perhaps adding new mechanics the player can do after a certain point or powerups of the sort to spice up the repetitive gameplay.
For a better experience, play the windows version. If you insist, play it on Google Chrome to hear all the sounds and music.
@Fevrir - well you have to jump when you move left or right as it gives a new sense of direction for you to minimize and move in that direction.
@ free_napalm thanks! all i can say is that with only three controls, I was able to make several techniques to make the game easier/possible to play, like sliding on the floor with friction perhaps
Simple but effective style! I really tried to beat the whole game, but it's simply way too long for me (I have no idea how you could fit that many levels in 72 hours). Anyways, I can see you didn't spend much time in graphics/sound and more on level design and gameplay. The only problem would be that you made way too much so that the player has a hard time actually finishing the game. I think I just spent 10-20 minutes on a flash game and only got up to the blue section part.
Amazing mood! I'm in love with the music and graphics so much that I got sucked into the game with a highscore of 30969! One important tip about gameplay though, is that it get's a bit repetitive as the player can just spawn camp them from the center. My tip would be to put the doors around the corners. To improve on the controls, I'd suggest moving with the arrow keys and shooting in the direction of something like WASD (like in the Binding of Isaac). Well anyways, I love it nevertheless! 5/5
So I beat the game, not as rewarding as I expected, but at least it had a nice mood to it! The game itself is pretty hard and ended up dying many times. I'm not sure if there were multiple levels or if I kept replaying the same one. Anyways, it had good smooth animations, unique painting humor, and a catchy soundtrack.
Mmm, maybe I'm just not skilled enough, but I had trouble completing this. I couldn't find anything red, the game movement was hard to control, and there was no atmospheric music. I did like the graphic style and thought the pink trees really made me seem in a foreign environment, but can't really see how it has anything to do with the theme
I got a score of 1270! This game starts off slow but then excuses itself when it starts to get hard with the enemies random path movement and shootings. However, it didn't get much harder after that making the game just way too easy. Some suggestions would be that every bullet you shoot would destroy itself after hitting an enemy, or that their bullets cannot be destroyed by your bullets
Graphics and sound effects are done really nicely, but level design feels incomplete and there were many instances where I had shrunk something too much, or got stuck in a pit, or got killed and then did not know what to do, having to close and reopen the game. My suggestion would be to add a checkpoint, add variety to the enemies, and when you die only show a death screen for a short amount of time before putting the player back into the game. It was also frustrating to not know when I was going to die or near death.
Great game! Intuitive controls easy to pick up mechanics and nice graphics/music for strong support. If you'd like to improve it- I'd suggest to add some kind of story as to why you're collecting hearts and/or give the hearts extra indigenous value like you can buy lives/shields with hearts or something
Wow, I honestly didn't think I would see a game this hip and indie in ludum dare! Couldn't find the flower though, no matter how hard I looked and then eventually jumped on some dude's head and started spinning. When I got off, the force just like threw me out of the building lol
Good job for you first game. Though the controls were confusing, there was no sound, the spikes had a delay reaction time, and I'm not sure of the story other than to save a bunny, and couldn't pass the first level, I think it's an alright game. It's just not complete and I understand you ran out of time
Thanks for playing/rating my game! Your game is incredibly unique and creative, I find it hard to believe all of it was made in only 48 hours. Well anyways, great graphics/music, with the exception that your main character doesn't have any walking animation. The games have a good progression system, and could use some tweaking, but other than that- fantastic varied gameplay
Wow, here I thought my game had hard controls, this game is super hard! So hard I can't enjoy it. It does have a cool concept although I don't really see how it relates to theme other than it being simple. The graphics are OK, though I really think the clouds add a nice touch of mood and atmosphere to the game. Perhaps a needed addition would be to have some sort of shadow to know where the ball would land.
Simple sweet game. After ten, though I had to zoom in the game (sorry for cheating!) anyways, I had a highscore of like 12. I'm not sure how it could get any smaller- perhaps some sound effects would be an improvement
Amazing concept! Sadly, the level design wasn't made too well. It started off with such a hard piece not allowing the player to learn the mechanics well. I also found myself in mid jump wanting to change direction but couldn't. I liked the music/sound effects and player animations. Perhaps start the player off with a much easier level and give checkpoints now and then.
Great Mood, Great Theme! I love how the rocks don't tremble until you leave making it a much more thought provoking experience. However, it was too hard after a certain level. I spent a lot of time figuring it out, and almost won but after a short mistake and having to start all over again was too frustrating- I'd suggest to have some sort of save/load or checkpoint system. This is the kind of game that would be on phone, with short levels so that the player can always keep coming back on the hard levels
I think the game is real fun! It's just a shame it has a harsh intro. A good learning curve into the game, would be great- I had no idea what the controls were and had to look in the description, and it was annoying to download and extract. But once I started playing, I got actually really absorbed and got a highscore of 7700. Great job on the animation btw!
I lived 421! I think that's pretty good. Well anyways I do think you did a good job on the minimalism part, there's barely any elements/controls/story/graphics to the game. I like the player sprite and animation although I thought it was a bit too choppy. Also the graphics for the platforms were a bit too thin and hard to see against the contrast of the background. Other than that, keep up the good work, and with some extra touchings and additions this game could be real fun!
Wow! It's a lot better than I expected (played a game similar to this). I love your art style and GUI. Music is pretty catchy too. There's only a few gameplay tweaks I recommend, level 1 shouldn't have its tempo be that fast it should be slower. Also, there should be other actions the play can do only when he presses space bar will the other ones come up. Or have it always on but not constantly moving at the top of the screen it's distracting. Anyways, I'll play more later, I got to level two (since I had to install it)
I was not expecting child kamikazes and bread sex to be in a game called Ice Princess lol!
i like it!
the controls are off. i got frustrated after trying to escape from the enemies after the mountain since I could not see them until it was too late.
What, why don't you have a category for graphics, I liked the vector style!
Anyways, this game was a lot of fun to me, who wants to get into visual novels. The fight scene could use more interactive depth, I ended up just smacking her with my 'weapon' until she knocked out.
I was dying and at my last breath I ran to the old lady talking on the phone. I said, "please". She said, "no ninjas". I was smacked in the head and I died
My score was 200.
Thanks for the positivity!
@GravityScore parts of the game are cut off on Ludum Dare due to iframe restrictions, did you try going to full-screen?
Thanks for the advice Steven Colling! I do plan on making a post compo and publishing it to my site. Suggestions are appreciated.
@nassi
Thanks for the feedback! I tried to encourage shooting the gun in mid air as you get 10 points per second when the gun is in the air.
To your game: I have a wireless Thrustmaster Ferrari Limited Edition gamepad, and it's being recognized by my computer but not by the game. I tried restarting the game several times.
@eXpl0it3r
Have you tried using the guns to lift you up. Hold the jump key and shoot at your feet to skyrocket.
@RedSorrel
Wow that's exactly what I want my players to experience! Thanks for the review.
The powerups have a higher chance of spawning when you have less health and will only spawn on the your view's X values.
Thanks for the plays and comments!
@snesgaard
that means a lot, thanks. Do you know how you got stuck?
@monkeedude1212
I'm thinking maybe if you plant a gun you will do less damage? So far, the incentive to do it mid-air is points and self challenge. I will definitely change up the camera now.
For everyone saying the camera is hard to control, does that include with full screen? It is significantly smaller on the frame ludum dare provides.
Thanks again guys.
ah, you have to rocket jump- I'll make it easier to do so in the future, but in the compo version, you just need to hold up and shoot at your feet
a guy with cleave took out half my team- gg
i go to chess club so this was fun- there was a lot of things that confused me though, like what was all of that about Trekkies and Bronies about?
Very well done! I love Hotline Miami so this really hit off with me, and I live in Miami ;)
It can get annoying shooting in tight corridors and perhaps some variety in enemies, but I made it to round 7 so I think you did pretty good!
audio > graphics amirite?
I liked the puzzle element, but i don't like how it penalizes for clicking the wrong note as I tend to make sounds to match the music.
Wow, this is really cute and brings back some memories. I find it amazing the art, story, and music you made in just 48 hours, I'll surely follow you on twitter.
it seems fun, but I don't have anyone to play it with... I was sitting at the Get Ready screen spamming my keyboard
Well I beat the game by throwing a coffee mug the size of the Earth at some aliens ;)
excellent mood! Design and color changes to each level is cool too. Sounds gets pretty repetitive
Im... kiled
This game made me feel like a genius finding out these puzzles. Very intuitive. Add more levels that require jump shooting and some aim and it would be super fun!
lol at that thumbnail!
i won after 44 rams lol
I also tend to replace my cushion with bombs. Very cute game- I had trouble finding a partner but it the graphics and music were nice. Gameplay is basic, perhaps make the pillows have a durability or be throwable. Also, the ducks could have a mechanic that makes the game interesting, such as flying or quacking.
I liked the gameplay, music, story, and graphics... A few tweaks and it would be a game I would buy. Arrow keys and the mouse feels unnatural, try WASD. The acceleration feels too slow which creates not necessarily a bad mood, but it's my personal preference. Also, make the screen bigger, my monitor is huge. Overall, very well done.
I chose the big lady and killed everyone with a bowl I picked up in the kitchen. I went to take a bath and slipped and died. I love it.
Art is amazing btw.
I talked to about 10-15 guys and I couldn't convert any of them?!? I used every option and even forced my funny tasting kool-aid down them. It has a good concept of exploring an open world, but there's limited options and they all end of "Get off my lawn"
I thought it was going to be a game about AG Cook, but cookie monster will do! Charming visuals and audio and adorable story line. However, the platforming needs work on and the laser sometimes shoot me when he's not looking at me. Also, I accidentally fell off in the second level and then the game just froze at Game Over. Besides some gameplay issues, it's pretty well delicious cookie.
hm, I got 'A Java Exception has occurred'. Any tips to fix?
I got a score 260!
The graphics were cool though his running animation needs work. I like the concept it can be pretty fun at times, though I wish the robot killings would be more intuitive or at least mentioned in the game. It is hard to memorize all the codes. Overall, it is a solid piece and I did have fun.
I had fun playing this game, it was way longer than I expected I had to go at like level 10. But it will probably be a game I come back to. Music doesn't fit the mood but I like rock so I guess it works out. I got the hang of the mechanics(good level progression) and started dominating, which is always felt nice. I'm sure the later levels will be hard.
Sweet I played this on my iPad in my game dev class
Hey don't worry man, I can see that you tried and the story/graphics came out pretty good. Voice acting made me laugh I won't lie.
It's a good concept, but it needs audio to spook the mood and the view of the light is too small.
i love dogs );
Wow longest ludum dare game ever! Over half an hour, I was hooked, I read everything. I got normal ending, which is pretty anti-climactic but I still enjoyed the characters. Good work!
Btw, who took Haasan's juice bottle?
The controls threw me off, but the gravity gun mechanics make up for it. Half-life is great
The game has a good aesthetics and I always love me a good dog. The controls should be 8 directions on keyboard. My highscore is 30 and it was fun, but the low variety in gameplay made it fall off. It is still impressive for a game jam though, you could potentially sell this if you put more time. Good work so far.
aww, the garlic is so cute! I felt pretty proud realizing that I had to scare the vampire into the human's direction without any instructions
Ayyy the graphics are on point. I love your style. It needs some cute music and some swoosh swoosh mail sound effects to make me feel real cool 8). I had fun though, so it all worked out
it's fun but the learning curve is really steep! I do like the music and art and it gives a very strong vibe of just keep on playing.
Well is there an end? If not try adding a score board so I have some kind of goal. Anyways, it's a good concept and I feel pretty evil eliminating the dinosaurs >:)
Am I making my pillow scream by squeezing it at my black alien friends? If so, that's amazing! Please don't quote me though...
Graphics, music, and mood are on point! I had fun and the bananas makes stars ;). You could work on difficulty ramping and perhaps highscore table otherwise the score is meaningless- or at least show it around the end of the game. My best score was around 300.
I love this game! Yea more bombs and polished graphics would help, but it's very fun! The amount of controls is like the whole keyboard, but I got pretty good at it, so I enjoyed myself. Perhaps make level 3 shorter, it feels infinite
tried to play, but it didn't recognize my wireless gamepad, any suggestions?
made me feel relaxed and cool with blue tones in the color scheme. You should work on making certain sections easier in the platforming, it felt frustrating at times which doesn't go well with the mood
I want to play but the link just shows a black screen. D;
I was expecting the audio to be worse, haha! I like how there's no penalty to missing, matches the mood of spread of the happiness carelessly. You should though work on gameplay variety or make it even shorter. The story at the end is what made the game imo
This game gave me a strong sense of exploration and adventure I have first experienced in a ludum dare game.
I successfully got 4 papers and had lots of "a ha!" moments.
However, I came to the top of the zombie room and I couldn't go through the door, am I doing something wrong?
On that note, perhaps better visual indication on what was a door yet still fit in with the style.
Anyways, great music and graphics and the random(or-is-he) Miyazaki-like character called Joe made me laugh.
the guy in the blue is me
I want to play your game, but I can't! The EXE opens with my browser, firefox, for some reason
Congratulations on finishing your first entry! Your game had a sweet methodical mood, though you need to work on adding more content.
I like the music, I feel like it should have a darker tone though. This is like a tragic game about melting away made into a comedy. Anyways, gameplay is fun though getting stuck against the blocks can be annoying- perhaps have a button used to push blocks? Anyways the art style kept me interested and the puzzles kept me thinking, so good job!
Wow, I just spent 30 minutes playing the whole thing, I got hooked! Great story, controls, and ui. Some more smoother animations and transitions and you would like buy the full version.
It doesn't work on firefox!
I got it to work on google chrome though and it was fun! The menchanics was really confusing at first but I think I'm getting the hang of it. My current highscore is 163.
I like the style you put into the art. The puzzles were interesting and very well executed. Perhaps make it harder to get caught or easier to shoot.
How do I play this game? what to click?
it's a pretty funny game! the audio of the farts kind of disturbed me after a while though, nice level progression and cute foxes
I never knew Etch-a-Sketch was so good.
Wow there's a lot of levels! I at least finished like 7 of them. There really should be a restart level button though, I got stuck in wall somehow.
With my help, we pushed aside the zombies and piano to reach our communitive goal of 250 meters!!!!!!!!!!
The game was really nice and cute! Since this is a compo entry do you have the source code? Or at least how you got the camera mechanic to work.
It does feel a lot like pokemon! The music is really cute too! I would download that. I killed all my Sirkled sadly, I cried. But you should still work on this game. Add more personality to the actions and give more stuff to do with intermatches perhaps trade them or customize.
My MOBA dark past seeped over me and I played this game sub-consciously for 140 seconds... then i laughed that I got fat off so many apples
the freezing mechanic was pretty innovating, i had fun with it! two things really stuck out to me: the getting stuck on walls when this game feels a lot like a runner puzzler and the fact that I didn't see any checkpoints. Still a lot of raw fun tho!
I played it though I got confused on where to go to attack the ship, when I talked to him again he just said I had something I to do. I then got stuck in a wall and had to exit..
i was very lost, but it can be fun if you focus on dodging the enemies.
played the game with one hand! got pretty good at it. Or at least I thought then I randomly lost the game. I don't know how to use the other traps but I just spam plants everythere so that's pretty bloody fantastic
When playing I thought of dark stories in my mind that I have a very descriptive thought of... which I then used to beat up muscular sexy dudes, so that was fun. Great work!
My pinky hurts.
there is a lot of choice in strategy which made it pretty fun. it turns out i was just reading everything and spamming click though.
It has a thick style that one can groove to!
I can't seem to get the look at the rhythm and enemies at the same time
good theme, audio, graphics, and humor(fish made me lol). the learning curve seems to be very steep though, one shot makes me die and its hard to fight back
Am I some kind of pro, because I beat the game in like 2-3 minutes lol. The game was pretty fun! Well placed check points and some interesting AI made me stayed. Though you really need to get better at some animations man. The graphics are good but it feels lncomplete. It's still a sweet game overall.
The atmosphere was excellent. Game design and wave progressions should be worked on more. I did like the music and shapes really fit the theme.
i liked the house system, was confused about throwing money at the beginning tho
);
Ah the phasing level! Yes I agree it is quite a difficult concept. You have to accelerate yourself using the Triangle form(down arrow) to reach a speed that can allow you to phase through the blocks. Good luck!
Try holding up-arrow key and tapping the down-arrow key to bounce off the wall and speed up.
Thank you for your patience.
so fun, i have a sweet spot for games like these. Ofcourse, please continue working on it and polish it with animations/sound
Not a whole lot going on. Am looking forward to what you guys produce in the future.
Art and animations were smooth so good job on that! Gameplay was repetitive however. Perhaps add some variety in the way you can pick up the fishes or add fishes that would try to avoid the ship?
I do like the level design and the mechanics are great. However, I do think there is room for improvement on the controls. For horizontal growth, the right arrow key should be used instead of the left. Also, at point of the game when I could only move up, I went up off the screen and nothing I pressed would reset the level.
I do like the game overall though, good job!
