I liked this, not sure how it fit the theme, but I liked the multiple attacks that gradually appeared!

saymon 2015-04-20 20:55

Cool game, really like the graphics ! but i don't really see the theme connection

mano 2015-04-20 20:57

It's a little hard to know exactly what pressing z, x and c do. Also I couldn't tell if I had health or not.

peculiarcarrot 2015-04-20 21:17

I don't know exactly what this has to do with the theme, and honestly I wasn't sure what exactly was going on when I played it at first. It wasn't immediately obvious that Z was a melee attack for a while. Also, the enemies were very jumpy in their movement, which made it feel unfair when they suddenly changed direction and got a hit on me. Good for your first in 12 years, though :P

blaster391 2015-04-20 21:17

Took me a bit to work out what was going on, a read me with info would have been nice, it's a good start, I liked the graphics, but some indication of where the Z attack hits would have been nice, 109 is my high score :D

jasonsumm 2015-04-20 21:47

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone, very useful.

Blaster391! 109, not bad ;)!

ciderpunk 2015-04-20 21:48

You might want to try a different file host, chrome refuses to download this!
"Slaughter_v001.exe is malicious and Chrome has blocked it."

chaosed0 2015-04-20 21:51

If it were more obvious where your attack was, and if the enemies didn't jump around quite so much, this would be much better. Still decently playable.

kabutakogames 2015-04-20 21:51

I think with a little polish this game could be really fun, it's definitely on the right track. Just stuff like a little more feedback for your attacks and maybe more predictable enemy movement will make a huge difference. Best of luck!

lukbebalduke 2015-04-20 21:52

I think the gameplay could be better, but I liked the graphics.

pikmin4000 2015-04-20 21:54

i was very lost, but it can be fun if you focus on dodging the enemies.

liniix 2015-04-20 22:03

Was a little confused at first, but once i got the hang of it, it was quite fun.

jasonsumm 2015-04-20 22:30

Ciderpunk, if you try it with any other browser it should work :).

Thanks so much for all your feedback, this is encouraging and gives me a todo list :D!

hercludes 2015-04-20 23:46

I don't get how the shield works, there's no attacking animation, and the AI is very limited to just pseudo-random movements every 5 or so seconds. I understand the limitations though working with CTFusion, you should definitely try something else like GM.

gene-z 2015-04-21 13:54

Cool game... very good concept

lochmann-apps 2015-04-21 14:08

I unfortunately can't start the game with windows 8.1 - i get the message that smartscreen has blocked the app. If you need details just contact me e.g. via twitter. I haven't rated your game ("If you can't run this Entry, please leave a comment saying so and explaining why. Do not score unrunnable entries.")

the-capitalist-crayfish 2015-04-21 14:17

Quite fun, I wish I knew what is actually happening more.

flygamer101 2015-04-21 14:25

Really like the graphics, you are a great pixel designer

dyfer 2015-04-21 16:10

what is the weapon ? isn't a bad game, its quite ok

jasonsumm 2015-04-21 20:35

Thanks once again for the great comments everyone! The Shield is more kind of a "dissuader" (maybe I should think about how I visually represent this?). I totally agree the AI needs work and their movement is a bit glitchy in terms of collisions. It's on the list! Some form of on going instruction could improve the flow (but I do also like the mystery). The melee attack's visuals are top of the list, I'm still thinking exactly how to tackle that.

Also on the list are:

+ Ability icons & highlighting
+ More art on the map to give it more life
+ Music & more sounds
+ A couple more abilities
+ A more finely tuned difficulty curve

thejash 2015-04-22 07:17

Not bad. Enemy movement was a bit weird, and pretty unclear how far you could attack or if there was health or cooldowns or anything. Also not sure if there is a point besides just trying to live?

jasonsumm 2015-04-22 08:41

Trying to live is indeed the sole point (at the moment at least) ;D! Your health is depicted by the screen turning progressively red. There are cooldowns, they will be made more obvious with icons and highlighting :). Thanks for playing!

bthedestroyermc 2015-04-22 15:56

Nice to see another Fusion user ;)
1. I'd suggest you don't start in full screen. It's a bit unnecessary
2. The hitboxes were a bit off for me.
3. Maybe check out my game(s) from this and the last LD so you can see their source :) It may be helpful

fabraz 2015-04-22 17:31

As you said, the theme connection is very weak. But welcome back to game development, it's fun isn't it? :)

chimerarj 2015-04-22 18:11

good job

fixitteam 2015-04-22 20:31

not bad, but there is room to improve :)

lebrokholic 2015-04-23 04:56

Personally, I think that the game's quality is appropriate. But it is necessary to add a little bit more to make the game more connected with the topic of the Ludum Dare #32.

guigrillo13 2015-04-23 17:58

Really cool!!!

fenix 2015-04-23 22:28

I like the way of attack, nice approach as it's different than usual.

safran 2015-04-24 10:31

I don't know what to do. But the game is nice.

jasonsumm 2015-04-27 07:22

Cheers for the comments! I've actually since come up with a few interesting ideas for 'unconventional weapons'! Maybe I'll start implementing one tonight (for what' it's worth :P)

triplevisiongames 2015-05-05 16:48

I like challenging games. This is that, nice job!

srakowski 2015-05-09 23:22

I wasn't able to get the shield up? But any game I can squash some bugs in is a game I like :)

jasonsumm 2015-05-10 11:31

Ahh thanks for playing! You don't get access to the shield straight away ;)

embalaje 2015-05-11 08:19

Funny and challenging! Nice art. Welcome back on game dev!
