Wow that is a neat game, good work!
Thanks @codechomper!
it was really nice, i like the mechanics and overral gamplay, keep it up !
Got stuck (as in, didn't manage to do it, not physically) in the level where I have to use a few clouds to get up and then right. I will retry later :)
The art style and heavy feeling of Gaia's steps are really cool. The music is simple and fitting. I like it!
Although it did not seem difficult, it is harder than I expected. I also got stuck - in a level where you have to "build a ramp".
You should definitely add a warning to the main post that the game is very addictive. :)
Wow, there's so much nuance in the visuals of this game, and I love the mythical nature of riding on the back of a giant lumbering beast. It could have all taken place on the ground, but instead the whole thing is elevated (no pun intended) to a kind of "Shadow of the Colossus" type world.
Really nice.
Pretty interesting mechanics. I like a lot of the visuals and the music. Though I'm not sure if going through the bottoms of clouds slowly is a glitch. It's something I would prefer actually, and it's something you can accomplish using the y velocity of your player as well as layers. Great job!
This is awesome. Love the music and overall feel. The controls do feel a bit finicky, especially using `Z` to activate when you're using `WASD` to move. It would be nice if there were a secondary activate key, maybe `T` or `G`?
I'm in awe. That's a fantastic game for 48 hours!
I like the visuals that identify the barriers to movement. It's like the ones in VR games, and gives a clear indication of where you're meant to be.
The music's so chill, and the Gaia/earth creature looks great. :)
The first level with coins was fairly challenging, but I did manage to make the end. :D
Dude, very impressive, especially for 48 hours! Instructions are super helpful and well-integrated. Cloud controls were confusing and wasn't a fan of the barriers on the sides of the world. Graphics are spot-on and sound fits well!
Good job!
@paulstraw Good suggestion, I added `T` and `Right Shift` as alternate keys for WebGL.
Everyone else, thank you and great feedback! Helps a lot :grinning:
I absolutely love the atmosphere you create, especially taking it slowly in the beginning when you only show the planet and then introduce the title screen. The music is really good at contributing to the mood and presentation-wise there is not much to criticize, great job!
The ending was pretty good. I suppose you were aiming at a creation myth background and I think you pulled it off quite nicely, although it took me a while to realize there is actually something happening here.
Gameplay wise, I liked the mechanics, and you spend some effort in introducing them in an organic way, but it took me a while to figure out you were supposed to call back the clouds and use them as spring boards.
The puzzles were well-conceived, but for the difficulty you chose, I think the controls should have been tighter. This is actually my only real complaint. Sometimes was dragged up through platforms, and that little jump at the end of landing was a bit annoying. So it became a bit frustrating towards the end.
Overall a very solid entry. I had fun.
I like this, it's a great puzzle game. It made me think. And you crammed a good number of levels in there too! I think the objective could be hinted a bit more. Something as simple as making the movable object and the target object visually relate to each other in some way. Having to figure it out didn't really feel like a puzzle so much as a lack of communication. But the actual core puzzle element of figuring out how to use the clouds quickly and efficiently was really well thought out. On that note though, I did find it annoying that the action button sometimes didn't respond. If that was a feature you inculded deliberately to make the puzzle more challenging, it doesn't communicate that to me as a player, it just feels like bad controls. I eventually figured out that I had to wait for a second before using it again, but it frustrated me early on in the experience. But those small issues aside I really like the game, the music and visual style are pleasant and I like how contained and simple it all is. Really nice work :)
@powerspark, wow this game is awesome! A combination of great visuals, simple but elegant sound design and smooth platforming mechanics. The real time puzzle solving in this game is addictive and quite generally fun! A true LD 38 standout, pat yourself on the back! This one is a gem!
Really pretty looking game, the graphics are great.
Physics seemed a bit weird sometimes (one level I got stuck in a wall and was pushed into the ending) but it was still playable.
I enjoyed the puzzles, they were really well designed.
Really pretty, and the music was subtle but enjoyable! To be honest, I didn't entirely get the concept of the z,x,t keys and what they did exactly. But overall a really nice game!
Nice game! I really liked the atmosphere of it. The sounds and art style went together great, and the spinning background cloud animation was neat.
Cloud pushing seemed a bit inconsistent. It made for some interesting puzzles, but the time pressure was a bit too much. It could be made a bit better if the barrier on the left was removed.
Beautiful pixel art, relaxing atmosphere, and unique puzzle mechanic. I also found the cloud pushing to be a bit unpredictable, but it sort of fit with a feeling of minimalism and discovery. Great unique approach.
The cloud mechanic is really cool and unique, but it's still a little awkward to use. The art style is great and the using the concept of gaia was very clever.
For me, the difficulty is a little too high.
Nice entry!
Great art and fitting sounds, this met the theme quite well! The gameplay was quite challenging and got a little too hard because of the clouds passing so fast, but still an awesome job!
I love the look and the quirky sparkly ability. I did not like that you could not cross the edge of the elephant even when you are floating in the clouds, but I sort of see why you implemented that so you cant float forever.
Great concept idea ! Good realization, but sometimes the physics were toying with me, getting stuck in the clouds, or clouds getting strange behaviours. But it was nice to play and get to the end of the game, the mechanics were smart and easy to understand ! Good job !
Wow! Cool game. The graphical style is really good and the music is fitting. The game-play is fun and challenging but does not feel unfair.
I liked the music and the theme. Needs polishing in the movement and physics, though. I was fighting to get to the next cloud because the gravity doesn't feel like in other platformers...
lovely innovate game, with nice music and fitting graphics. admirable achievement for 48 hours. I think the mechanic that prevents you from falling of the world on the left could be improved : now you have to restart constantly when clouds have passed too far. I think the game would benefit a lot if this issue was resolved with a mechanic that could enhance your possibilities as a player, something like clouds looping back to the right, that might also give you some new possibilities for designing more puzzles.
Very cool game! The only thing in terms of design I don't understand is the restarting. Is it really necessary? Because it breaks the flow and the text pulled me out of the mood.
Innovative mechanics and cool pixel artwork. I enjoyed the mechanic of pushing and jumping on the clouds. Amazing job for 48 hours! Congrats.
Really cool art and graphics! The gameplay is also interesting!
My only complaint would be that the puzzles were a bit too confusing sometimes! (Not completly sure how I had to beat the lvls). Also, there was one level that on finishing it seemed to be repeating itself forever (Maybe it was the last one).
ALl in all, It's a very nice entry! Great job!
Keep up the hard work! :)
This is a solid Contribution! Great art and overall mood. I had fun bouncing on clouds and watching the colossus move.
Nice graphics! I love the pixel art a lot :) The controls with the z,x,t was a bit weird but besides that your game was a good experience and it created a nice mood. Keep up the good work mate!
Cheers
I really liked the feeling in the game taking place on the back of a large creature... and the dust for the foot stomping was a really nice visual touch in the art style. For some reason, I was thinking of Gamera the whole time (but I'm a Kaiju movie fan) heh. ^^
Even though I did have a bit of trouble figuring out the objective and didn't get very far in the game, I felt it was complete and done well. Very impressive for a 48-hour comp game.
Really good looking game with a fun core concept. It's probably just me, but I really struggled with the controls - not really being able to get the clouds to go where I wanted to! Great atmosphere though.
Well done, thanks for sharing!
Looks and sounds great! Good gameplay mechanics, boundary bugs kept me from getting through the whole thing, but it was really fun and I tried for a while...
Congrats on the compo!
Great game! I beat the whole game and loved all of it. There were a few glitches with the physics, and sometimes it didn't feel like "x" would work (such as at the start of levels), but besides that, the gameplay felt great. The audio was good too, and I liked the graphics a lot. My only suggestion is to make the restarting a bit quicker. Good work, and thanks!
The art and audio was great. The game mechanics was fun to play with. But the movements were a bit buggy.
Wow, amazing job for 48h! The game is so pretty and the concept is very cool. I got stuck in the clouds a few times, which got me kinda frustrated, but great entry!
This is by far one of the best looking games I've played yet! Really great job. It was a bit wonky feeling but then again it was made in just 48 hours.
Cool idea for a puzzle game. It looked great and had a lot of polish behind it. If anything I'd say it was a little too time sensitive and could benefit from being more transparent with how the cloud pushing works. Nice work.
I really liked the cloud pushing mechanic and the art and the cool turtle looking dude! The game was a lot of fun! i got stuck in the clouds a couple times but over all great Job!
I don't usually enjoy platformer-type games but I really liked this one. The audio suited the game very well and the art also did. The theme of "A small world" was shown in the small starting area. Great game!
Really good work on the pixel aesthetic. This is a little game - a platformer which fits with the theme. However the controls are a little bit weird. Cool idea for a puzzle game. I assume that with more time, it could become an interesting game. Thumbs up ++
I liked the concept of this. The first few levels were pretty interesting. When I got stuck on a puzzle though, I quickly lost interest... I don't think the mechanic was fun enough for me to stay engaged. It would have been nice for the level resets to be faster, as it felt like a good chunk of wasted time waiting for the animation / level to reload.
Cool game, with an interesting take on the theme. I loved the overall aesthetics of the game and felt the music fit it perfectly. However, as others have said the controls could be improved. Overall a great game!
Gorgeous gameplay. The look and feel really gel. I had a hard time with the controls too. My fingers not coordinated enough to ZXTRShift + WASD. Would love to try this on a controller- because it looks so well in motion and responds so nice. Excellent COMPO entry, though! I'll try again!
The effort and the attention to detail put into the game really shows, I enjoyed my run.
First I got to say that the your pixel art is superb, also the platforming is great too! But I can't really get my head around this cloud based puzzle platforming, first push then pull, sometimes get stuck in it, it feel like the clouds are teleporting back to their original position. Also the fact that there is an invisible wall to the left but you can basicly walk in the air at the right side is weird.
But I liked the overall mood of the game, unfortunately I got stuck at the level with the creates, I just cant get to the second create, this game is really hard !
Really nice pixel art and music. The sounds, although simple, work well and the cloud-based platforming is a really cool mechanic. The earthly mythology theme is pretty nice too! It was a little difficult for me to get comfortable with the mechanics but other than that this is a very good game.
Nice art, loved the low-fi feel! The gameplay was a bit too finicky to me, especially with the timed platforming. The way the clouds interacted felt inconsistent, sometimes they went to the side or up. Perhaps having it so the player doesn't collide on the platform from the bottom, verses being sucked up into the cloud and taking up more time (might solve the first issue too?). Crates feel a bit game trope-y to me, but gets the job done I guess - why not just reuse the ball? The ball not moving (in the x direction) with the platform also made it hard for me. Since the player has to restart if they miss the time window and the clouds goes past the wall, why not just get rid of the walls and have the player fall and have to restart? Since technically the player can die as well if they get crushed by the blue cloud and the wall.
I liked the ending though, perhaps seeing the other animals somewhere in the levels (maybe finding or releasing them?) would be nice. Good job!
Really like the art and music, platforming didn't feel good though, and it wasn't really clear what the aim was or why you were doing it and the having to restart all the time was crappy. I think you could expand on the idea and make something really cool with this concept though.
Well done overall. Interesting mechanic, not as hard to catch on as I thought it would be.
Timing makes it hard, especially just after the the beginning - on the next level after the one introducing restart i got stuck *so* many times it was almost annoying :) But that's something only extensive playtesting could deal with, so not a compo issue.
But that's something you can work out. For the time being, game has a good feel to it, music is fitting, art is nice, and the mechanic itself seems thought out, although I expect you had your share of troubles while making it :)
**what could be improved if you will be updating**:
- overall movement: probably something to do with physics, byt the camera seems to flicker/shake a bit - timing on levels: this *will* require quite a bit of playtesting. - variety (obvious, if the game would be longer in the end) - restart mechanic: maybe an auto restart, or death mechanic? Something to think about :)
Very solid compo entry, and quite polished at that. Cheers!
That was a fun puzzle-platformer. The pixel art was very good, and together with the music, it created a nice mood.
The mechanics were ok, with some interesting puzzles, but the controls/cloud mechanic did not feel intuitive to me.
The concept of riding across the skies on a large flying beast was very compelling!
>Jumping in the clouds. >Pushing, pulling, jumping high. >Find the road ahead.
I liked the music / graphics. The walking turtle landmass thing was pretty cool. Controls were generally OK, though sometimes the cloud pushing felt a little unresponsive. The collision detection could use some love - I found myself stuck in / on objects a few times.
This game looks/sounds great. I found myself getting bored with the mechanics quickly plus I didn't care to have to restart so often cause the clouds kept going away. I think having them wrap around would help with that.
