LD38 — A Small World

Routine by Breno_M 2017-05-02T07:36:56Z

Best graphics I saw on this jam, really good!

The gameplay is interesting and innovative, but a little confusing. It took me a while to understand what to do and where to click to make something happen. And I wasn't able to find out how to accomplish the last task, too hard for me.

StopWatch by SkullPixel 2017-05-02T19:09:48Z

This game is so cool!!! The main mechanic is very clever and different. I think you should keep working on it.

By now, it's fun, but gets repetitive. Adding new enemies and designing the levels one by one should fix it.

I really want to see this game evolving =D

The Seesaw Redemption by Headmade 2017-05-03T02:59:25Z

The main mechanic is very interesting, I see it as a full game in the future.

Just one level design suggestion: put something close to the table to prevent players from jumping too far away. I did that and landed on the spikes, not knowing that I needed the wheel to progress in the level. Or just make the spikes kill the player.

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-02T18:41:55Z

This is great! The art style is beautiful and bring me good memories, cause it reminds me [**The Dig**](https://www.google.com.br/search?q=the+dig+game&newwindow=1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiq6_O-7dHTAhVPOZAKHVJYBxUQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=943).

It's a shame there is no more to explore.

Good job!

Gaia by PowerSpark 2017-05-03T02:42:22Z

The cloud mechanic is really cool and unique, but it's still a little awkward to use. The art style is great and the using the concept of gaia was very clever.

For me, the difficulty is a little too high.

Nice entry!

Spider Collider by mooncalf 2017-05-02T03:15:09Z

This game is amazing!! I don't know any other game with a similar gameplay. I was really having fun, and beat all the levels (some of them are very hard) The minimalist art fits perfect with the gameplay.

Just a few suggestions:

- The music is cool but doesn't fit your game (in my opinion). It reminds me a nostalgic race game. I think something more "minimalist" would be better.

- In some hard levels, it's easier to jump randomly as soon as you touch the other planet (this way you stay less time on the surface of planets, and reduce your chance of dying). To prevent this random playing, you could make a planet that kills instantly when you step on it.

- Another way to "cheat" the game when there is a lot of planets is by jumping only between the edges of the screen, where there is no planet to kill you. So, maybe you could have some levels with spiky walls in the edges, so the player have to use the center of the screen.

Great work!

Snoozle Pooz by mathijs750 2017-05-03T01:56:39Z

The concept is very cool. I like the idea of having no specific objective, just exploration.

However, the camera is terrible. Your game would be soooo much better with a camera behind the shoulders of the cat. This would allow you to explore the world in a much more intuitive way, and would increase the experience of being a cat.

Mouse and Blade by superpokeunicorn 2017-05-03T02:05:28Z

Beautiful art style!

I missed some innovative/unique mechanic, something to differentiate your game. The level design could have more variety (you'd probably need some new mechanics to do that)

Overall, good game!

Slice of Life by tweedle 2017-05-02T02:20:20Z

The art style is really good! =D

But I think the game has a dominant strategy. You only have to keep 6 or 7 of the second mushroom in the field. Once you do that, the game becomes very easy, and you don't even have to use the other mushrooms, neither evade the enemies (the second shrooms do all the work for you).

To fix that, maybe the points you use to spawn the shrooms should be earned by doing something else (perhaps shooting the enemies by yourself)

The Adventure of Malvin by NOFUEL 2017-05-02T04:41:00Z

Wow, the animations are great (and cute)!!! Very impressive art style.

The wall jump is a little awkward tho (just a little) And the level design is a bit repetitive.

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-02T18:50:59Z

The art style is amazing! One of the bests I saw on this jam. Unfortunately, the game runs poorly in my PC =/ I missed some differentiation tho, the gameplay could bring something new.

Star-Crossed by TitoMakaniJr 2017-05-02T04:11:00Z

The game is good but to much frustrating. I know it's supposed to be hard, but maybe the firs two or three levels should be easier.

Plutiny by peringo 2017-05-02T23:50:45Z

The best part of the game is the introduction!! So funny and cute. The upgrade system is a good feature too.

But I didn't find the gameplay itself very fun. Probably because there's a lot going on, and it's hard to visualize even your own character and the cursor. Right from the beginning, you already have lots of enemyes and bullets to evade. I think a better look at the difficulty progression would make the game 100% better.

Also, the art style is great =D

Asymmetry by ChuiGum 2017-05-02T03:30:56Z

I like the idea of changing the speed of time and the size of the player depending on your position. But i didn't see any reason to switch between the colors. Maybe some enemies should be better faced when you are big, and other when you are small, for example. This way you can take different strategies, and have a reason to switch between the colors.

Tiny Tily Tile World by spacewarp 2017-05-02T06:36:18Z

Interesting idea! It would be nice if you could access a list of the combinations you already done. It's a lot to keep track just by mind (or maybe I'm lazy =P)

The art style is also very cool.

Dwelling by aeveis 2017-05-02T16:33:46Z

This game is very good! The art style is great and the gameplay is interesting.

At first, I was able to reach the clouds, but I didn't know how to stay there. It was only by reading the comments here that I discovered you could die and reborn. At last, the solution doesn't requires you to eat any plant at all. Maybe the first half of the game should demand you to eat to jump higher, so all the mechanics of the game would be used.

Digital Backwater by Max Cahill 2017-05-02T01:42:40Z

This is really cool!

I spent several minutes trying to understand what to do. When I was almost giving up, I read the instructions on the site =P Maybe in-game instructions would be useful.

Also, I don't know what are the first 3 numbers on the left (they are always zero)

Exit.. space left by HomineLudens 2017-05-03T06:10:15Z

Cool game, made it till the end.

But I missed some challenge. The tasks are easy, but time consuming. Maybe you could add some new mechanics, like enemies or the need to discover the minerals before extracting them.

Great pixel art!

Sunken Mystery by Shubham Gupta 2017-05-02T01:17:44Z

I think you should be able to play the same level indefinitely, without being sent to the beginning of the game.

Newbie God by nuria-fl 2017-05-02T07:05:45Z

This idea is really cool! It's good to play a non competitive game once in a while. It's a shame there is no more levels.

Just a simple suggestion: it's weird to use Space and W. Maybe Space and Ctrl would be better. Or Z and X.

Protect by M-1 2017-05-02T05:20:49Z

Really nice game! The fact that the objects came from 4 directions creates a different gameplay compared with Guitar Hero, for example. Good work!

Small World of Mine by 0uicmoi 2017-05-03T02:28:00Z

The art is really good, and the game is immersive. However, I'd expected a better ending. Nice entry =D

Beware The Idiots by Gris 2017-08-01T06:15:50Z

I could not draw a barrier, don't know why =/ Two suggestions: - Show the life points of the egg - Show the size of the shot

Giant Friend by fixedgerald 2017-05-02T22:54:19Z

Great idea! My game has a similar interpretation of the theme, but with a different approach.

It would be cool if rotating the feet also rotates the direction the player is moving. An objective would be great too.

Infinite Planet by gaffa 2017-05-02T05:18:55Z

Nice game!

I like the minimalist art style. The character, however, doesn't fit. I think it's because he is much more detailed than the rest of the world. He could be just a square, maybe.

The gameplay is fun but could be more polished. Here's some observations: - Using the double jump, you can pass through almost all the obstacles easily, with no precision needed. - The fact that the spikes don't kill, only slows you, is very clever. But maybe it should be a little more punitive, pushing you back harder. - The higher block are a buggy when you try to "climb" them. - It would seems fairer if the game becomes more difficult by using more difficult obstacles, not by speeding up the black bar. Imagine losing the game even though you didn't make any mistake (doesn't seems fair).

Membrum by Rongo Matane 2017-05-02T23:24:05Z

This is really disturbing, but that's good =P

It's hard to understand all the things that are happening, but once you get it, it seems to work well.

Good job!

I Want To Explore by joekinglake 2017-05-02T23:28:56Z

Cool game! The concept is really unique. Makes me want to play more =D

The art style is simple but very well done.

Good job!

Classical Conditioning Cooperation - [CCC] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2017-05-03T06:40:15Z

The art style is awesome! And the puzzles are clever.

But it's a little awkward to control the mice, you have to stop the game all the time. Maybe (just maybe), it should work the other way around: when you press Space, the mice move; when you are not pressing Space, the mice stay still.

The way you rotate the mice doesn't feel good either, but I don't know how you could make it better.

Sillyzilla Rampage by Eric Florio 2017-05-02T06:20:09Z

@halfskye You can shoot lasers from your eyes (right mouse button)!!! Another way to counter the higher planes is just covering yourself from the bombs, using your hand. Thank you for your feedback

Sillyzilla Rampage by Eric Florio 2017-05-02T06:20:19Z

@lukesta They are fuking giant monsters, they can take a lot of hits =P Anyway, thanks for your feedback, it's very important to me =D

Smell World by sgadrat 2017-05-03T02:15:25Z

Interesting idea, but I feel you need more mechanics to make the game really fun, like traps or enemies. Or at least make the map more difficult, like a real maze. The way it is now, it's too easy.

Nice art style!

Seven Pillars by Jeremy Ryan 2017-05-02T06:10:59Z

Cool idea! It's a shame it didn't run well in my PC (seemed slow motion), so it was not very challenging. The pixel art is very cute ^^

Oh, I was not able to close the game, I don't know why. I had to close it by the task manager.

Sucker Munch by oultrox 2017-05-02T03:59:17Z

Nice game! The art is amazing! The game is fun and well polished. I lasted 23 waves (the player should evolve more times, it's the best moment in the game).

However, the gameplay is not very innovative, doesn't bring anything new, and for me this is the most important thing in a game jam.

Anyway, great entry!

Lovebug by Pix3m 2017-05-02T23:15:20Z

This game is so cool!!!! And cute!

At first I thought it would be an easy game, but the last big gap makes you think for a while, like a little puzzle.

Overall, this game provides a great experience (and the art is amazing)

Yet Another Godzilla Game by dcandle 2017-05-02T01:54:51Z

Hey! I had the same interpretation of the theme, with a different approach tho.

Your game is really cool, especially the graphics =D

Unfortunately, it didn't run very well on my PC (probably not your game's fault)

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Down by harark 2017-08-01T17:15:14Z

Didn't hear any sound. And maybe because of that, I didn't understand how to play. Even tho, the concept seems cool. A simple explanation of the mechanics would be nice. Good job

AstroMouse by SkullPixel 2017-08-01T06:03:05Z

The idea is good, but I found it too difficult because of the switching between screens. Using keys 1, 2 and 3 to switch automatically between rooms would be easier, but probably against the "soul" of the game. Maybe just making the transition between inside and outside almost instantaneous would be better. Nice job!

Sip Sip Universe by sugarbyte 2017-08-01T07:38:42Z

I don't know if I understand the mechanics, but the idea of exploring different worlds is cool. Maybe a specific (and explicit) objective would be good.

POWER BEAT RACER by Hels 2017-08-01T07:59:49Z

Interesting idea, a simple tweak in the classic guitar hero style mechanics. The art is great too. Nice work!

Reactor Defence by Dene 2017-08-01T17:28:08Z

Interesting idea. More like a puzzle than a tower defense. I was so close, but didn't won hehehe

It would be nice to know how much energy each turret is consuming, so you can plan your upgrades better.

Nice work!

Superstuff by tddawson 2017-08-01T06:31:15Z

Gave some minutes of fun. Level 3 is a little hard, but is definitely beatable. Don't know if there is much more to be explored in this concept, tho. Good entry!

Henry the Electrician by Neweichgames 2017-08-01T06:53:21Z

The gameplay is really fun. Simple and fun. Congratulations! But the music is completely annoying

Zombies and RVs by pixelgriffin 2017-08-01T07:54:09Z

The art style is awesome, congratulations! The gameplay is also fun. Good job!

THIRST by Togis 2017-08-01T07:50:13Z

The art is cute and the gameplay is interesting! I just felt a little bit lost, like it was pure luck. Maybe if you could find hidden objects indicating the direction of the sewer... Great entry!

Temple of Illumination by Johngun 2017-08-01T17:43:16Z

The game is fun, but the "out of power" mechanic doesn't add to gameplay. Great art style!

Charge by ohmaigawd 2017-08-01T17:54:04Z

Very good game, congrats! The gameplay is extremely simple but interesting (never saw this mechanics before). And the art style is probably the best I saw thus far on this jam. Great work!

Edit: my high score was 52, but probably could do better if I tried a little more =P

Delivery Bot by Cardinal Game Studios 2017-08-01T06:41:35Z

It would be interesting if the game made you choose between recharging or something else. Because now both paths seems to have similar amounts of batteries, so you don't have to choose nothing, the batteries are already on your way. Some obstacle variety would be cool too.

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-01T08:16:01Z

The art style is really beautiful *______*

But I don't know if i understand the mechanics completely (I had fun, tho). What's the difference between pressing space and clicking the mouse button? They do different things, but I didn't get the point. Overall, nice work!

Space Power Defender by EdwinGameDev 2017-08-01T07:28:38Z

The way you control the ship is interesting (and difficult). The overall gameplay is fun, but I think it has a problem: once you lose one or two "powers", you have no way of recovering. Nice entry!

Hungry Harry's Climb by PBG 2017-08-01T08:27:35Z

Simple and interesting gameplay. It can certainly be expanded latter. Good work!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Alea iacta est by LucasMolina 2017-12-14T17:57:01Z

I don't know if this result is googd or bad (or even if there are good and bad results). Interesting concept tho. firefox_2017-12-14_15-53-44.png

unrogue by dunin 2017-12-06T03:46:00Z

Best game I played so far in this jam! It's just fun!

You can probably add more interesting decisions by giving special habilities to specific enemies. Great game!

School Bus Simulator 2017 by mmason 2017-12-06T02:17:18Z

Funny concept! But I don't think it gets harder the more students you have (maybe slower?)

One sugestion: make the acceleration and deceleration stronger.

Dangle Copter by pkenney 2017-12-07T19:50:51Z

The controllers are so crever! One of the best entries I saw here!

I like the fact that you dont explode when you hit a wall, but it causes you to swing and probably drop someone.

And it really gets harder the more people you are rescuing, in a natural/physical way, not just because of changing parameters.

Really nice one!

Infinity racer by mukult 2017-12-08T00:28:55Z

Too fast too early. You have to be lucky to make a good score, because it's frequently impossible to dodge some obstacles.

I think the game could just start more slowly, accelerating as the game progresses.

Nice work, anyway.

Jonathan The Sorcerer by ncannasse 2017-12-07T17:45:17Z

Best game I saw so far! The trail thing is not a new mechanic, but the gems (especialy que black one) gave the game a complettely inovative gameplay.

The level design is amazing (and hard). I game up after trying too much to beat the first level with blue gems (I think)

And the art is great too. Congratulations!

Vroom Vroom Kaboom by profan 2017-12-05T23:28:01Z

Very interesting concept!

Just one sugestion: make it clear where the front of the car is. In a certain way, it is similar to my game (I had to plan trafic and turns to make my game)

Great job!

Cave of Duty by Zielon 2017-12-07T23:52:42Z

I like it a lot! Beautiful and fun!

Took me a while to understand the meaning of the paintings at the end of each level, but well, it fits the concept perfectly.

Great job!

The Incredible Car Salesman by Eric Florio 2017-12-07T13:48:16Z

@dunin I added a post jam version of the game, and now it works more os less like you said ;)

The Incredible Car Salesman by Eric Florio 2017-12-07T13:54:47Z

@bryceltaylor @mmason I made an update (post jam version), and now you can influence the traffic flow, so you have much more things to interact, and a new layer of planing.

The escape of the red panda by chispaLBC 2017-12-08T00:47:34Z

Very clever! One of the best interpretations of the theme that I saw so far.

And the art style is cute!

Great work!

Phobos by Yokimbo 2017-12-06T02:05:38Z

It becames almost impossible at 8 hahaha

Great game!

Kill The Dragon by kromeboy 2017-12-08T00:14:39Z

WTF I just saw?!?! hahahaha

I was enjoying the experience, but I felt cheated at the end. You just lied to the player. I'm sure there would be a more honest way to trick the player into buying the loot boxes instead of explicitly telling them to buy it. It's a plot twist only if there are clues about the twist from the beggining.

Besides that, good work, very "outside the box"

ViKing of Norway by NamInUz 2017-12-07T23:37:31Z

Great game! I was very immersed.

But I wasn't able to complete it. I don't understand why some guys stop to follow me, and sometimes they block my way.

Crapbag by acoto87 2017-12-07T19:27:10Z

Nice mechanics, but it gets too overwhelming when the board grows, there are simply too many possibilities, and the number of choices grows exponentialy. I would prefere a hard puzzle using a smaller grid (is this possible to do with this mechanics?). Overall, good work!

10 inches or less by Almost Panda Studio 2017-12-06T01:27:50Z

Very interesting game! The mechanics became a little repetitive, but it's good anyway.

Just an observation: in levels 15 and 16, I was able to win without passing through any red portal.

Starbage Man by BryceLTaylor 2017-12-07T16:37:02Z

Funny game! It's hard to see games with narrative in a game jam. Well done!

A simple sugestion: down arrow to break, instead of going backwards. This way you can easily stop your ship.

Snow Grow: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Ball by Brenden 2017-12-07T19:16:49Z

The idea is really interesting. I'd play more if the controllers were a little more responsive. And an actual score would be great too. Nice job!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T01:58:57Z

Interesting! But I didn't know why or when I was destoying the place. Maybe some visual feedbacks could help. Nice job!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T02:21:07Z

@racso But is there something I could do about it? Is it possible to kill all the bad guys without destroying america? hehehe

Epitaph by velvetlobster 2017-12-06T01:46:36Z

The artstyle is amazing! Gameplay is a little slow, but I think that was the idea. Good work!

OVERWHELM by randomnine 2017-12-07T14:22:38Z

This game is extremely polished for a game jam, very impressive.

But it's too hard for me hehehe

Some observations: - I don't know exactly why, but it seems to me that the character moves more than expected when you jump. Even simple platform jumps can be tricky.

- It's unfair when enemies kill you exactly when yhe camera is moving.

- The wall jump is really hard. You probably know that, but I think you need to mantain the direction of the movement for a longer time rigth after the wall jump. This way the player has enough time to switch detween left and rigth buttons.

Oh, and the art style is great to!

Throw Me Daddy ! by sleepyGrin 2017-12-05T23:12:10Z

Odd way to control a car (not very realistic, but challenging). Nice work!
