Interesting concept, I really dig the art style, it's absolutely bonkers! The puzzle aspect of the game is really well done and it can get really challenging, specially if you are trying to play it with no pauses.

Excellently done!

samurai-spark 2017-05-01 18:31

Really great idea guys!

I like the puzzles a lot. The gameplay is pretty cool. The more mice you have the harder gets the riddles. At first I had some problems with rotating the mice, but after I found the pause mode it got much easier to make the little guys to do what I want^^ And that art style is fantasic ! Very professional. The soundtrack really fits the mood perfectly  I had a lot of fun with your entry

Gut gemacht Leute!

toonteamj 2017-05-01 19:48

Very good puzzles. The gameplay is unique to me.

loktor 2017-05-01 21:13

Really good work guys :) you managed to finish a game with multiple leveles and really nice gameplay :) I am impressed by the amount of variable gameplay features you manage to finish in this short time frame :)

One problem i had was that the html version didn't work properly for me, you should maybe check that and try to fix it your game is worth it :D

One thing that i would have liked differently is the speed of the mouse, maybe add an option for an faster mode which is even more challenging :)

Keep developing that game it shows some promise :)

obvious-san 2017-05-01 21:19

Liked the game alot :) It gets really interessting when there are at least two mice :) I like the music, the graphics are really nice.

abhimonk 2017-05-01 22:31

Awesomely done! The game is very polished overall. The animations and art style all fit together very well. The music is great too. Finally, I really like the structure of the puzzles. They were great because they had both a "figuring out" component, and an "execution" component. Even once I had figured out how to maneuver the rats, I still had to have the mechanics to put the rats in the right direction. I really liked that.

ilseroth 2017-05-01 22:41

Heh, our games acronyms are dangerously close, just one letter off (CCO).

Fun concept, I know this is an odd thing to fixate on but the UI looked nice and clean. The mission start/end windows are great. My only issue is that mid way a mission I was wondering what the key on the pause menu meant (it's obvious now) and I accidentally went to the main menu. I was going to replay the beginning to get where I was, but the lack of a way to make the first levels go faster caused me to elect to stop playing instead. A "speed up" button might be a consideration. In addition, I'd appreciate the ability to buffer orders while a mouse is moving. So if I pause on the frame before it is able to be commanded, I can tell it to turn when it lands instead of having to unpause then repause.

All in all, solid presentation, interesting gameplay and a surprising amount of content for a Ludum Prototype.

Hey. Trying to run the HTML version on Gamejolt (no Windows machine available), and it seems to be freaking out. It immediately tells me "Fail" then "Well done", then the sprites just kind of go berserk. Anyone having similar issues?

awesomealliterationalliance 2017-05-02 15:27

@simonhutchinson , @loktor Sorry for that. i am aware of the bugs the HTML-version has, but sadly i have no idea what i can do about it. it seems to work on some machines but refuses to work on others.. My guess is that the problem lies in the internet connection, but i am not sure about that. I will try to get a Mac an Linux version running as soon as i can.

@ilseroth Sorry for that main menu thing. Originally we wanted a level-selection screen but did not manage to get it done in time. The exact same thing happened to me too in some other Ludum Dare games, so i know how frustrating this can be. maybe there will be a post mortem version with level selection. The direction-buffering is a good idea, thanks for the feedback. changing the gamespeed is nearly impossible because of how game maker studio works. It's impossible to change the gamespeed while code is being executed.

dgspitzer 2017-05-02 16:18

Excellent art! Superb 2D animation (probably the best I've played so far in LD 38 XD) Pretty enjoy to see the blue mouse hacking things~ It would be better if maybe add a slow mode effect when turning the mouse and speed up button? And the font is kinda hard to read by default screen size. Other than that is great!

palemachine 2017-05-02 19:42

Very impressive for a jam game. Polished, visually pleasing, expands on the gameplay mechanics nicely. A very potent puzzle game. Well done!

wildmusketeer 2017-05-03 00:03

Amazing puzzle game! Extremely polished. I like the art style a lot, it has a children's storybook feeling to it, and the color selection on top of a largely blank white background is smart. There's also a lot of good design on the levels on how the interest/difficulty curve slowly rises by introduction of new mechanics.

I think the only slight issue I have is on how you control the mice. I had a lot of trouble getting the mice to go the right direction after exiting a pipe. Since I need to click through the rotation options to get to the direction I want, I sometimes end up sending the mouse back into the pipe.

Overall, a professional level polish on a 72 hour game! Bravo on a job well done!

burgee 2017-05-03 00:09

This game is freakin' awesome! What starts out as an entertaining relaxing puzzle game quickly turns into a lesson in micromanagement and multitasking!

I loved the mouse animations, the music, the level design, even the GO and level end animiations were polished.

Really really really good for only 72 hours, hopefully you'll develop this further! It would translate perfectly to mobile devices.

eric-florio 2017-05-03 06:40

The art style is awesome! And the puzzles are clever.

But it's a little awkward to control the mice, you have to stop the game all the time. Maybe (just maybe), it should work the other way around: when you press Space, the mice move; when you are not pressing Space, the mice stay still.

The way you rotate the mice doesn't feel good either, but I don't know how you could make it better.

dracominer 2017-05-03 22:03

The game is really well made. I am amazed at how polished it is and how all of the components fit together. The only thing that I would suggest changing is variation in the music.

devastus 2017-05-04 00:03

Not bad at all, there's a very nice visual style and some fun puzzle design to this that I enjoyed!

I was disappointed by the finicky way the controls are designed though, turning while paused seems to work only in a very certain character state which lasts only for a short period to which a buffer for orders would really do wonders, and you can only turn in one direction (why not use the second mouse button for the opposite direction?).

Other than that it's a well made entry. Very good work!

grasswhopper 2017-05-04 07:37

woah, the game gets really hard very quickly. very enjoyable, and everything simply fits with each other smoothly, and nicely. though, the controls can be a bit tricky which makes the game a bit harder, not sure if it was intentional or not, but i am simply not a fan of that. besides that point, the game is neat and really enjoyable.

good job with the game :)

fanatrick 2017-05-04 17:40

Steep difficulty curve, otherwise a very polished experience. 5/5

tcl 2017-05-08 16:04

good game! Loved the art :) a little hard to master but funny overall

paulhocker 2017-05-09 02:54

very interesting idea and really liked the characters and use of the theme - the controls were sometimes very hard as it only switched in 2 directions - four directions would have been better maybe - great game

awesomealliterationalliance 2017-05-09 10:47

@paulhocker Thanks for the feedback. I dont exactly know what you mean by two direction. If you click on a mouse multiple times you can switch to all directions. :)

@devastus Thanks for the feedback. That was a bug, the buffer did not work. I fixed that, thanks. We tried both directions, but decided that one direction works better.

@eric-florio Thanks for the feedback. The pause system was mostly made for very complicated situations, but you dont need to use it, as you can switch directions without hitting pause.

valicitor 2017-05-10 07:45

Love the graphic and animations, they look top notch, audio was just as good, only wish there was some way to control it so I didn't need to take my headset off. The game is quite fun, like the idea of controlling multiple mice to traverse the level and needing to be aware of whose doing what, my only issue is I don't like the way the level ends with only one mouse exiting the level... but that may only be me. Great job none the less

clemzd 2017-05-10 19:44

This is a great game. The art style is awesome, it feels very profesionnal. I had trouble at the beginning in understanding how the gameplay works. But then I start to feel comfortable and enjoyed the experience! I would suggest two improvements. I think a more readable font could be used in the first level. I think The music for the first two levels is "agressive", it was "too much" compare to the mood. Great work!

tacomabert 2017-05-12 20:43

Wish I could play your game. The concept seems neat and the graphics looked cool. I'm running a Mac, and the html links don't work in Safari or Firefox. If you compiled a Mac build, I'd be your guinea pig (pun intended).

ectucker1 2017-05-13 17:31

This game look really great. The UI and character animations worked really well together.

It was a bit annoying to have to keep mice from continuously reactivating objects, and avoid the electricity. I suppose that's the challenge of the game.

Sound effects were good, but the music got a bit repetitive over time.

richard-michael-smith 2017-05-16 09:28

Like someone above - I found the font a little difficult to read. Apart from that this is a great entry. The graphics are excellent and I like the music - it wasn't too repetitive for me. There is a definite Lemmings vibe to this and I think with a little more polish of the gameplay (for example - when I accidentally went back into a pipe, I had to wait for my mouse to get out the other end before I could turn around) and more levels - you could release this commercially.

philomory 2017-05-17 18:26

This is outstanding, especially the graphics. The controls could use a bit of polish, I think (specifically, It's a pain that you have to click on the mice with pixel-perfect accuracy; it should be enough to click the the tile the mouse is in). Also, explaining that you can pause (and still instruct mice while paused) _within_ the game would have been a good idea. But these are all minor complaints.

I agree with @richard-michael-smith; with enough polish, this could be a commercial game.

flying-cat-of-the-pepes 2017-05-20 02:17

Graphics are amazing, as well as audio. Gameplay is fun, by slow and annoying. When a rat dies, the entire level restarts, which is annoying because the rats move slowly making the level very long. It is also annoying to move through long pipes accidentally. Other than that. amazing game!!!
