LD38 — A Small World

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-03T19:26:36Z

Nice platformer :) you even managed to create multiple levels with various gameplay elements :) I like the initial levels, but as others have said for example in the second level you had to wait a bit all the time until you could progress which could probably have been avoided.

One Other thing that i noticed was that i was moving up automatically in the third level, but had to run on the moving platforms in the second one? this kinda confused me a bit.

I enjoyed the gameplay off your game tho, you did quite well to finish all of the different levels + the art and the effects in the compo time :)

Global Disaster by Jamesy012 2017-05-01T10:40:42Z

I tried the web version, really fun little game with the right amount of tweaking in terms of how hard it really is :) It got a bit stale after some time tho, e.q. it seems like the difficulty didn't increase anymore? that could maybe be improved :) also the system with the score confused me a bit (why does it go down again? wouldn't it make more sense to keep increasing it?). Altogether a really great entry, with great sounds, nice graphics and engaging gameplay :)

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-01T09:30:09Z

I really like the mood of the game :) initially the sounds were a bit too loud/scratchy (might be my setup tho) but once in the game they were really nice. As for the game itself i didn't really get what i had to do, without reading the info, a short intro in the game might have been helpful (i guess it wasn't there due to time constraints). But i like the concept/feeling of the game :)

SittingDucks by Iak 2017-05-01T10:01:53Z

Great work :) I liked the soundtrack, one thing that would have been nice would be to describe which button is the Jump Button (e.q. the one set in the config, which i didn't touch to be honest). I liked the concept of the gameplay which can get quite challenging. Initially tho there were not enough stones for my taste i had to wait for a few seconds until the action started^^ But a really nice concept tho :)

Vertical City by LiamLime 2017-05-18T18:19:07Z

Nice game concept :)

I really liked your intro :)

One thing that kind confused me at the start as others have said, i wasn't expecting my houses to build up after time, also what i didn't get was why a shop for example was only taking one tile? i would have expected it to take on all columns the preview was overlayed on? I think a tutorial to your game would be great if you continue to develop it :)

Otherwise solid entry for the available time, with some more polish that could become an interesting game :)

Food Fight by nick.bota 2017-05-01T11:39:53Z

Wow really great jam entry :) I really enjoyed the gameplay and you even managed to build an multiplayer, that combined with all the other gameplay elements in the game i can only say really great job :)

I also really like the artwork and soundtrack of the game :)

Not much to give critique about :D besides maybe that the character selection isn't really clear, e.q. i didn't notice the first time that i can now select a character^^

Overall one of the best entries if have tried out so far :)

Myrddin by cogcomp 2017-05-01T11:15:39Z

Nice work finishing a full game with multiple levels and enemy types :)

One thing that could be improved in the future would be the graphics, it was sometimes hard to see what is going on due to the similar colors of the floor/enemies.

Overall really nice job for the given time :)

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-04-25T15:01:24Z

I really like the soundtrack/concept of your game, especially once the black star approaches you :D I would probably tweak the amount smaller planets stop you once your big and you crash into them tho (and make larger ones stop you more to make them more risky to eat)^^ But really nice work for 2 days :)

Chip's Planet Defense by John Holden 2017-05-01T11:19:05Z

Nice job :) Especially since this was your first time modelling a character :)

One thing that was a bit confusing for me initially was that the camera was pointing upwards, also after i used the spit water function i kept on spilling water and i didn't really know what i have to do with the water and how to make it stop :D

With some additional work tho this could be a really solid game, especially give what you already achieved in the time you kept on working on it :)

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-01T10:08:32Z

Really fun game and quite easy to get into :D I really like the art direction as well as the sound effects :) one thing that could be improved tho, would be that you can see your old highscore to give you more incentive to play again and beat it :D But for the available amount of time you guys really produced a great game :)

Space Migrator by jackyjjc 2017-05-01T10:18:23Z

Fun little game, i especially like that you managed to include some objectives, that made the game quite a bit more interesting :) One thing that would have been better initially tho was that the zoom factor is really limited in the beginning a bit more would have been nice initially :D Really enjoyed the game tho, would make a nice mobile game :)

Gantan Guardian by lurumdurum 2017-05-01T20:52:40Z

Wow i am impressed, i really enjoyed the gameplay of your game :) really great combination of simplistic art style coupled with great sound effects :)

One thing that could be improved tho would be that enemies sometimes spawn at your position and you can't really do anything against that, which can be a bit frustrating

So far one of the games i like the most :) I managed to get to 500 points :D

Polar Protector by AlexHoratio 2017-05-01T20:23:30Z

Nice work :) Great work with the soundtrack as well as the art style :) One thing that was kinda confusing for me that the game just started without any kind of explanation inside the game (a small tutorial would have been nice), also like others mentioned it wasn't fully clear what was causing the damage Overall really great work with your ludumDare entry :)

Snake On A Plane by spacedoubt 2017-05-01T11:04:20Z

Nice soundtrack and classic gameplay of snake :D It's quite fun :) altough i was a bit confused initially as to what is happening :D especially after i died^^ would have been nice to see a score screen (i guess it didn't make it into the game due to time constraints) :) Great job finishing a game in 48 hours :)

Little Space by KevTukk 2017-05-10T19:22:07Z

Really nice concept and you manage to get quite a lot done in the little time that was available :)

One thing that confused me at first was to understand how i actually get new works or if i get them (there was no game over after an asteroid killed them^^), Also as others have said the intercept mechanic was a bit hard to use, if you keep working on it maybe think of another way to trigger it than hitting the button? maybe some building which automatically takes care of some asteroids if a person is in there? :)

I really like the simplistic artwork as well as the sounds, you did a really great job :)

Taste the rainbow by Kalm004 2017-05-01T20:09:21Z

Quite a fun game :D I had the problem tho that the sound always cut off in the middle of the "Motherfucking Rainbow" :D one thing i didn't complete get was why i couldn't shoot my earth? away sometimes (maybe a bug?) Besides that really an innovative concept :) great job :)

Atlas by CountTyranus 2017-05-18T18:30:26Z

Really nice entry,

I really like the pixel art, and great idea with the turtle and the palmtree platform :D had fun playing your game :)

A few things if you keep improving your game (which you probably already know), sometimes i had the problem that i couldn't move anymore? was this an exhaustion mechanic? because it wasn't really clear to me. One other thing at first (even with the tutorial) i had a bit of an hard time to figure out what exactly i could do where, if you keep working on it a maybe if you show small overlays with the button to press once your standing somewhere where you can interact :) And also a parallax scrolling background would have been nice to give the sense of moving around :)

Overall you did a really great job with your game and i hope you continue working on it and notify me if you need someone to test it :D

Dr. M Little's Planet Mass Overdrive by slimabob 2017-05-01T09:49:33Z

Really great results for the invested amount of time :) Really like that the game explains itself without the need for an explicit tutorial :) One thing that confused me a bit at first was that at the edge of the world my planet started to rotate (initially i didn't grasp that i am at the edge of the map now, maybe that could have been shown on the minimap where i didn't really get where i am currently^^). Great job within that timeframe

This World Of Mine by Wizcas 2017-05-01T20:29:35Z

Wow really great job with the voxel graphics they look really nice :) i also like the idea of a stealth puzzle game as a cat :D

One thing that could be improved tho would be the way you go into a hideout, i really had a hard time to position the mouse correctly in a stressful situation. Also for some reason i didn't manage to go into the hideout at the foot of the bed

Overall a really great entry, you can be proud (I especially like your art direction) :)

This World Of Mine by Wizcas 2017-05-04T21:09:52Z

@Wizcas for the problem regarding how to vizualize it, maybe adding a highlight color e.q. if i move over it with the mouse, that the border of the area where i can click becomes white or some other color? :)

Internet Shooter - protect magical device! by Behenate 2017-05-10T19:16:34Z

Nice gameplay :) i really liked it :)

Some things i noticed, when i started up the game initially i had the problem that i only saw a blank screen with the skip button should there have been something else?

One other thing that confused me at first was the fact that i had a backlight which wasn't really logical given the character (even if it made sense in terms of gameplay :))

What i really liked about your game was that i had to always keep an eye open as to where the monsters are which kept the tension high throughout the game, great job :)

"It's a small world!" by szczebel1995 2017-05-01T10:53:36Z

I really like the graphics and the music related to the game :) One thing i noticed the tutorial was kinda cut off (see image):

Capture.PNG

The concept of the game is really neat :) One thing that confused me initially was which person i had to find (since i clicked too quickly), would have been nice to see the text ingame too with an option to pause the game maybe :) If you keep working on it the limiting area on the edge wasn't really clear for me e.q. maybe a fence or something like that would have explained it better where i can and can't go? :)

Overall a really good entry :)

Dinonaut: Defender of Celestial Dwarves by zzcalvinzz 2017-05-01T20:45:34Z

Wow you did a really great job with the music, catchy :)

I also really enjoyed the gameplay :) one thing that might have been good tho would be to allow for a bit more room for error, e.q. maybe that the world gets cracks as you go on? :)

Great overall result tho :)

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T10:44:02Z

@Iak i like that idea of allowing the icing paste to protect the world a bit more with something like that :D the general idea was to jump on the enemies (which didn't seem really clear since i didn't have enough time to redesign the enemies to clarify it more), yes the Ludum Dare version was a bit too easy, the fixed one should constantly increase difficulty but for the lategame it might have been better to make it more challenging even faster :)

@oxrock nice :D even higher than my highscore so far :D

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T10:57:36Z

@jackyjjc your right was my first time using photoshop to draw something digitally which was quite challenging^^ I plannend on including more but sadly i ran out of time. Yeah the idea with the score was on my bucket list :D to make it more interessting e.q. maybe more challenging quicker :)

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T11:45:15Z

@palemachine your definitely right the initial compo entry had a bug in it which made it easier than i intented to, thx for the feedback :)

@kalm004 my idea of the game was that it is an score based game, e.q. to try to collect as many points as possible, but yeah the game could use a bit more of an challenge, i tried to fix it in the edit (e.q. the edit was done after the compo finished so i but it into a seperate section) this one should be more challenging :)

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T20:02:50Z

@awesomealliterationalliance The game is a bit too easy at the moment, my intention was to make so that a certain point it should get quite challenging/too challenging and the cookie gets eaten :D

@jamesy012 yeah i planned on including that (i actually had a first version in the game), but it wasn't working as i wanted to so i scraped it for now, but great suggestion and nice highscore :)

@wizcas great idea with the different ingredients, those could be used to make the game more challenging :)

@all others thanks for the feedback and the great tips i will try to adapt the difficulty and make it more challenging :)

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T21:31:25Z

@spacedoupt Thx for the feedback, yeah your right that might be the right target group :D

@zelos thank you for the feedback :) did you try the bugfix version (it is a bit further down) the other one had an bug which caused the game to become really easy, because kicked away munchers still counted as active enemies which resulted in too many enemies in the game which prevented new ones to spawn at some point

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-16T19:26:31Z

Thx for the comments guys :)

@anthony-juarez yeah your right a bit more enemy types/different kind of challenges would be fun :) great idea with the special attacks/mini bosses, will consider these things when i release an update for it :)

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-01T22:59:45Z

Your game is really aesthetically pleasing, combined with the great soundtrack i have to say i really like it :)

As others have said before the gameplay could have been a bit more challenging but considering the other components of your game i have to say it was really a pleasure to play it, now i am relaxed and ready for the bed :D great job doing all of that during the compo :)

Spermicorn by Fanu 2017-05-01T21:01:19Z

Really great narative game :D was quite funny and you guys even managed to tell a story in that short timeframe :) i am impressed :D One thing tho the gameplay did lack a bit, the first part could probably be improved by showing a timer/place where you currently are in the line to give some kind of sense of a challenge? :D The second part was fun but a bit too long for my taste

Overall very good entry :) you really pulled off quite a bit :D

Universal Journey by mundell 2017-05-01T11:28:30Z

I really like your game :) I stands out amoungst all the planet games released :D I really like that you display trajectories which makes it easier to guess where your going with your world :D

One thing that confused me a bit initially was that i didn't really get that i had to go into the black hole^^ After i read the instructions again i really had a great time with your game, great job :)

SUN GOD by palemachine 2017-05-01T20:16:37Z

Great soundtrack to a great game :) For my taste the game was a bit too hard initially, but the execution of the game was done really well, i enjoyed what i played :) also very useful tutorial, one thing that might have been good tho, is to signal the player when he should press E, i read the tutorial but i kind of overlooked the point that i can drive into the planets which caused some confusion^^ Also once your on a planet you kind of have nothing to do for a few seconds, that down time could have maybe been shorter :) Overall a really good entry for the compo :)

Classical Conditioning Cooperation - [CCC] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2017-05-01T21:13:20Z

Really good work guys :) you managed to finish a game with multiple leveles and really nice gameplay :) I am impressed by the amount of variable gameplay features you manage to finish in this short time frame :)

One problem i had was that the html version didn't work properly for me, you should maybe check that and try to fix it your game is worth it :D

One thing that i would have liked differently is the speed of the mouse, maybe add an option for an faster mode which is even more challenging :)

Keep developing that game it shows some promise :)

RC kitchen Throwdown by oxrock 2017-05-01T10:33:38Z

Fun game :D And really nice job for creating a 3D Game with all these models in 2 days :) One thing that could be polished if you keep on working on it, would be the controls they felt kinda off initially for me. But really nice job, the hound really got to me :D

Smell World by sgadrat 2017-05-01T11:11:04Z

I enjoyed your game, neat hand drawn graphics and a great soundtrack going along with the game :) One thing that might have made the game more interessting would have been some kind of enemy that makes it more challenging on where i can go to reach my goal e.q. to trick them to get to my goal :)

Same as Lars DK already said using the keyboard down key scrolled down the window which was a bit annoying.

Great work in the short amount of time :)

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Surge by danielilett 2017-08-01T22:16:05Z

** First Impression **: Once i saw the screenshots i was already impressed, especially since this is a compo entry :O

** Sounds **: The SFX is really good and fitting for the different actions, also the gem sound is really satisfying :) If you expand the game, then some background music would be nice :)

** Graphics **: As i already said, i am really impressed by the polished look of your game, how did you even manage to finish all of that in that short timeframe :O really well done :)

** Gameplay **: As you already noted, after initially grasping the concepts the get somewhat repetitiv, also i didn't really get what the gems were for? (should i be able to buy something with them?), with the windmill it took me some time to understand if my movement was working (maybe some indicator would have been nice), I liked the mining part the most :) i dug really far for those red gems :D

** Overall **: I have to say wow, you really impressed me by what you achieved in the give timeframe great job :)

Last survivor by Hadik 2017-08-01T19:03:44Z

** First impression **: The look of your game really captured me well done :)

** Graphics/Sound **: I was really impressed by your graphics, the top down look kinda reminded me of the old diablo games, very well done :)

** Gameplay **: I enjoyed the various options you have implemented in your game, which leaves me more choice on what i can do, really well executed, one thing tho without reading the instruction it wasn't initially clear that i had to use space to mine stuff, maybe an short tutorial would be nice :)

** Overall **: You can be really proud of you, you achieved quite something in the limited timeframe :)

Fluffy Racer by pfeyffer 2017-08-01T12:24:08Z

** First Impression **: That looks interesting

** Graphics **: That's were your game really shines, the style fits the theme really well, also the introducation with the images was a great idea :)

** Gameplay **: As others have said, even tho i read the tutorial i had initially a hard time to grasp what the game was really all about^^ after i understood it, i really like the puzzly concept of your game :)

** Overall **: A really good entry especially since it's a compo entry :)

Tiny Warlock by bwalter 2017-08-01T18:12:14Z

** First Impression **: I really like the intro to the game, sets a great example for how to introduce your game :)

** Sound **: Generally really fitting sound effects :) but a bit more variation or background music would be nice if you continue to improve your game :)

** Graphics **: That's where your game really shines, really great to look at :) But as others said sometimes a lot is going on so that i visually don't even know anymore where to look^^

** Gameplay **: Really interesting concept of limited power so you have to plan your actions carefully

** Overall **: That was quite something that you managed to achieve here :) really nice result for the time frame :)

Star Power by Simon Millard 2017-08-01T12:32:22Z

** First Impression ** Now that looks interesting :D

** Graphics **: I generally like the style of your game it certaintly fits it, if you keep working on maybe you can change the power ui to something more fitting to the theme (maybe even but it on the rocket itself? :D)

** Sound **: The sound effects were really well executed :) also i like the simplistic sound of your game, but it gets a bit repetitive after some time^^

** Gameplay **: That's really an interesting concept you managed to create there :) i really liked the concept of managing my power against my target and moving around the asteroids, which wasn't always easy :D

** Overall **: Really great result for the limited time of the compo you can be proud of yourself :)

Revolution by wicked7000 2017-08-01T20:51:30Z

** First Impression **: Nice a round based game for once :)

** Graphics **: Good Job on those, an different enemy sprite would have been nice tho :)

** Sound **: Sadly there was none, maybe next time you could include some soundeffects? when the user is walking? :)

** Gameplay **: Initially i had a hard time to grasp what is going on (maybe a tutorial would have been helpful?), after some trying i round i really like it (altough the fighting took a bit too long for my taste) :)

** Overall **: Great job with your jam entry, would like to see where your game goes in the future :)

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-01T18:45:42Z

** First Impression **: Your graphics grabbed me so that's what led me to try out your game :)

** Sound **: You really did a good job with the sound effects they really remind me of the old space bullet hell shooters :D

** Graphics **: Really fitting for your game, i especially like the gamecube controller like enemy :)

** Gameplay **: The gameplay is really fun, altough a bit hard initially i had to try it a few times to get the hang of it (kind overlooked that i can buy in the shop during the game initially) :D

** Overall **: Congrats on creating a really nice game in the amount of time give :)

Supplice by Vegevan 2017-07-31T23:05:38Z

** First Impression **: What is happening here, on the first try i initially shoot all my bones away :D

** Overall **: I am really impressed by how many mechanics you managed to get into your game :) I especially like your gritty humor and that you incoporated a tutorial to teach me the initial ropes of the game :)

** Sound **: Really fitting for the theme

** Graphics **: A fitting style/theme :) (but in full screen they could have been a bit more crisp :D)

** Gameplay **: Really nice concept of throwing your bones away to finish the level (i threw one really far away tho :D), i like the integration of the theme into your gameplay, which makes yourself a limited power resource :D (and after reading the comments i have to try again because i didn't understand that i can pick them up again :D)

a minor thing the game crashed when i wanted to close it :D

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T21:34:04Z

** First Impression **: Nice a space shooter, a few seconds later wow that is something quite different :D

** Graphics/Sound **: I have to say i am really really impressed on what you managed to achieve in that timeframe :) so far in terms of graphics and sound one of the top games i have seen :)

** Gameplay **: I really like that you teached me how to play by forcing me to play instead of reading text here :D, also you managed to include a variety of gameplay elements with different boosts :) great job here, what initially confused me tho a bit was that i thought i had to go back to the power tank? because of the uploading and downloading power? when i went back the door was closed tho, might have been just a misunderstanding on my part initially^^

** Overall **: You can be really proud of yourself, you really impressed me with how much you got done really shows that a team can get quite something done in 3 days if they work well together :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-01T11:47:12Z

@all thank you for trying out my game and giving me constructive feedback :)

@vegevan thx for the inputs, your right the character development comes a bit short (due to limited time), yeah a pause button would have been helpful :D

@michaeltwg good point, when i continue to improve it i will keep that in mind :)

@pfeyffer Yes that's definitely something i want to improve upon (time ran out so i wasn't able to pack in more^^)

@simon-millard yeah sadly i didn't manage to make a fitting soundtrack (time ran out on me :D), in terms of gameplay i planned to include more variety in terms of gameplay (with different enemy types not only flying ones, as well as temporary weapon upgrades, changes, sadly i didn't manage to include all of that)

@madbeagle Maybe the intro part was a bit too short, right after you shoot the orb a message should appear that explains that the things (essence) dropped strenghtens the light when you pick them up

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-01T19:54:46Z

@all thank you for your feedback i really appreciate it :)

@Gris Your completely right a soundtrack is really missing (sadly i didn't manage to finish a fitting one in time :O)

@wicked7000 Yeah and fitting background music is a good suggestion :) those are some great tipps for improving the gameplay, i planned on having different enemy types (not only flying ones, also some which walk on the floor and maybe slow your shooting speed down?), i will defenitly add the highscore should add to the replayability :)

@Thorneto Yeah i was going for the darksouls vibe :D sadly i didn't get around to adding a fitting theme in time^^

@D-Studios Actually there should be a growing difficulty (e.q. the spirits get faster and become more frequent the blue ones, approx. every 20-40 seconds + uber waves (altough they get repetitive too after some time)), but your right a bit more variation in terms of gameplay e.q. what the player has to do to defeat certain enemies would have helped to increase replayability

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-01T21:28:48Z

@fireshake thanks, i am really happy that you liked it :) yeah sadly i didn't have enought time to produce a fitting one :(

@Zelos :) thanks for the great and detailed feedback, i really appreciate it if someone takes the time and points out flaws which i might have overlooked^^ Yeah your right that's one of the main points which i wanted to get in but didn't manage to due to time running out^^ Now that you write it i haven't really thought about it before but it really isn't totally clear initially why they behave like this, i initially had an explosion animation sadly that one didn't look to good and time ran out so i didn't manage to put it back in (which might have explained it a bit better, but that still doesn't describe why the red ones don't explode)^^ :) yeah it's a pitty that the notification system isn't working :/

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-02T13:00:58Z

@all thank you for your feedback :)

@peachtreepath yeah that was my intention behind it, and i am also with you on that point :) (and also part of the game mechanic, i would have liked to expand on it further if i had more time) :)

@wan :) actually there is a win state (altough not a very obvious one, after 500s the game ends and you get an firework of explosions more or less :D, but your totaly right on the difficulty part, after the first play, playing the tutorial part again is tedious sadly i ran out of time, i also wanted to include an skip tutorial part for the second playthrough to get quicker into action, also the speed and amount of enemies increases over time actually, maybe it wasn't noticable enough tho^^ i also planned on including more different types of enemies, which force the user to react differently with the initial mechanics sadly i ran out of time in the Compo :D), Yeah background music is my #1 on my todolist right now^^ That's a bug actually :D that i haven't gotten around to fix yet^^ or maybe more surface friction would have worked well^^ Thanks for the detailed input :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-02T21:01:57Z

@michael-feldman Thank you for your feedback i am really glad you liked the game :) yeah the sense of power from the source of light was what i was going for :)

@aterlamia Haha that is true :D sadly sound is currently my weakest point so i have to improvise :D

@battle-buddy since it was compo i uploaded the source code if you want to take a look :) (most of the light calculation is just the right shader and fitting graphics with bright parts which react well to the light + light sources attached to the moving objects :))

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-03T20:18:02Z

@All thanks for trying out my game and giving me valuable feedback :)

@oxrock yeah i remembered your icon and saw a comment of you somewhere so i had to try out your game :D

@zarkonnen :) Nice :)

@deke thank you :) yeah your completely right about the jump, i sadly ran out of time, at the moment too much force is applied^^ really gotta take the time sometime to practice writing good jumps :D yeah your right they are a bit small, i should have made the lights bigger :)

@svr-audio yeah ambience sounds are definitely missing, sadly didn't get around to include one :/

@ganbaregameskyle i actually didn't notice that yet, i always tried jumping while moving^^ thanks for pointing that out :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-06T11:03:23Z

@daniellilett Thx for the comprehensive comment i really appreciate it :)

>-You can’t jump while standing still and there is no air control on jumps, so you sorta go flying across the stage sometimes. I didn’t jump because of these reasons, although jumping isn’t necessarily required in this game.

I actually fixed that in an update now it should be possible (additional v3 Version) but yeah beforehand it wasn't really useful^^

>-Since the red enemy drops are meant to increase the flame’s size, why not make them glow with the nice effect from the start? It’d help to make them more noticeable.

I also fixed that in v3 :) now they should be way more visible :D

> -I like the sound effects, but mostly because they sound like you made some of them with your own voice. :p

I am glad you like them :D sfx/sounds is defenitly my weak point so i had to improvise^^

> -The waves are a cool idea, and I managed to hold on through them, somehow. I did two Uber Waves and got to 200s, then I quit the game because it was mostly the same thing over and over.

I will push an update today that should fix that, and avoid some of the repetition by introducing new elements later on :)

> -Do include some spooky atmospheric music if you can - it would tie the game together very well.

Yeah i will get onto that, but first i have to learn how to compose good music :D

> -My main tactic was to just spam shots, as you can imagine. I would appreciate an option to just hold the mouse button down to automatically shoot repeatedly - it helps reduce muscle strain for people’s wrists.

That's a good idea i might change that, i initially thought that this might make it too easy, but since you have to spam to really win maybe it would be a good idea :)

I am glad you liked it :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-06T12:03:58Z

@Everyone i pushed a new version of my game, which incoporates a lot of the feedback i have been give :) maybe you have time to check it out and tell me how you like it :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-06T14:10:52Z

@Nitzanel i glad you liked it :) @multiplexor Yeah the initial version was a bit too easy, you should try out the bugfixed version (there this problem shouldn't be the case :D also waves are there to counter that^^ and in the post compo version i included a new enemy which should disencourage this behaviour a bit and force you to have more fun :D), thx for the feedback and trying it out really appreciate it :)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-06T18:57:36Z

@drag0mir thank you for trying it out :)

@theflyingkeyboard yeah i was thinking about the fact that the player was running around too fast, i decided to leave it as that tho, because it allowes for more interesting gameplay options i think :) as for the game being to easy which version of the game did you try? (the bug fixed ones? since they shouldn't be too easy actually they should be rather hard as well as the post compo one)

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-10T18:40:58Z

@sprouts, @vkmicro, @schu, @kr4ft3r thx for giving me constructive feedback, really appreciate it :)

@sprouts haha yeah that is actually quite true :D

@vkmicro I am glad you like the atmosphere :) took some finetuning to get it right^^ yeah background ambient music is on my todo list :) really is the big missing part atm^^

@schu actually the spamming of shots was kind of intentionally (but to be replaced later on with upgrades/more targeted killing of enemies), but maybe a different way of controlling it without clicking to much would have been good :) yeah sadly i ran out of time for more enemies with different mechanics/behaviours, but i have some planned :D

@kr4ft3r that's a good point regarding the art style, i will consider that next time :) haha yeah :D

Gradient Descent by Zelos 2017-08-01T18:26:39Z

** First Impression **: That looks impressive :)

** Sound **: I really enjoyed soundtrack of your game, great job again (same as last time with colorfly) :)

** Graphics **: Really well done, they really fit the mood of your game :)

** Gameplay **: In terms of gameplay the concept if fun, but i see this game more as a visual experience :) which is a really great change of pace :) something you could do tho is maybe to change it so that the player always has to gather orbs of the right color? to make the steps in between more interesting :)

** Overall **: Like your last game, really great result :) i am sure this one will be high up again in terms of mood and sound :)

Gradient Descent by Zelos 2017-08-01T21:23:44Z

@zelos :)

ah that's great i would love to see where you take this game if you keep working on it :) that's totally understandable :) but i think your game really shines again in those key areas where you put your focus on :)

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-08T19:19:24Z

I think most things have already be said by the other guys here :D

I really like your art style + music too, they are fitting together greatly :)

As others have said i had a hard time initially to understand what i have to do or how i can get certain resources (also i had the problem that once i was in the menu of an building and i clicked somewhere suddendly another building menu poped up?^^ i guess that this is an bug :D), once i got the hang of it, it really started to turn into a fun concept :) great job :)

LD39 Compo: Trindle Armored Defense by vkmicro 2017-08-01T19:18:50Z

First Impression : I get to be a tank, nice :D

Graphics : Your style real matches the game well :) little shadows below the tanks might have been a good idea if you want to improve it further :)

Sound : The sound of the game is also really well put together, some background music would be nice if you continue working on it :)

Gameplay : I really like the concept of base defending games :) what was really good about your game was that there was always something to do and it was initially clear what i had to do due to the nature of the design of the game :) maybe more variations of enemy tanks would be nice for future updates :)

Overall : Great job for your second ludum dare entry (i also join the second time this time around :D), you can be proud of yourself :)

Power or die by Aterlamia 2017-08-01T21:02:44Z

As others before me, i had the problem that i couldn't really build more than the initial two mines? afterwards it wasn't really clear to me why that was the case?

Besides that, i think the idea of the concept is a real great one, i especially like your soundtrack + graphics you did a really great job on them :)

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-01T16:47:19Z

** First Impression **: It's getting scray 😀

** Graphics **: Really nice fitting drawings 🙂 i especially like the light effects when i turn around

** Sounds **: Quite well done, sets a good mood for the game 🙂

** Mood **: The combination of the sounds + the light settings + make for a really great experience here

** Gameplay/Fun **: I like the concept, it gets quite tricky after some time, but as others have said a bit more variation in of mechanics would have been nice and greatly enchanced the experience

** Overall **: You can be really proud of yourself, you achieved quite a lot in the given timeframe 🙂

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-02T19:59:22Z

** First impression **: Nice a 3d tower defense game :)

** Gameplay **: I like your shooting mechanic, but as others have said it was really hard to aim, maybe it would have been better if i just hit an enemy that he takes damage?^^

** Sound **: I found the sound effects really fitting for your game great job there :)

** Graphics **: You managed to make various fitting 3D objects :O that is really quite something for a compo :)

** Overall **: Great compo entry, good job you can be proud :)

The Wizard of Orb by Justashadow 2017-08-01T17:02:28Z

** First Impression **: Nice a game with magic :D

** Sound **: I really like your sound effects they were fitting for the spells you made :)

** Graphics **: Generally good :), but i would have like the background area/walls to be more in an fantasy setting than just an normal level :)

** Gameplay **: Nice concept of a base defense game, i really like that you even managed to create multiple spells :) It would have been nice tho to get an short tutorial initially (even tho it was quickly clear what i can and cannot do :D) One other thing it would have been great to see how much health your orb has left :)

** Overall **: Good job for what you managed to finish in the short timeframe :)

The Wizard of Orb by Justashadow 2017-08-06T13:12:17Z

@justashadow oh i initially thought that this has to do with my players power (in hinsight i don't know why^^)

Fat Jack's Fun Run by kippllo 2017-08-02T15:54:02Z

Well done, i really liked the graphics and that you managed to include various types of levels and changed up the pace of the game each level :)

What i noticed tho that enemies were sometimes flying around?^^ and that i could just walk past the inspector boss^^ that was probably not intended or?^^

I also like the mechanic of restricting my movement once i got to low sugar it was fitting (altough this can be a double edge sword i guess, since if i am already losing i am restricted even more which makes me lose even faster?)

Overall great job with what you achieve in that little amount of time :)

Delivery Drain by Thorneto 2017-08-01T19:45:12Z

First Impression : Nice a puzzle game :)

Graphics : Altough an simplistic style, but it works really well together with your game :)

Sound : Fits really well with your game :)

Gameplay : As others have mentioned this part could need a bit more variation and interactions to make it more interesting :)

Overall : Well done, you did a great job in the give time :)

Energy Thief by Fireshake 2017-08-01T22:01:09Z

** First Impression **: Your initial post really grabbed my attention i really like the wanted poster :D

** Sound/SFX **: The background music really sets a good mood for the game :) also your sfx choice is really great :) one thing about the music tho, something fast (due to the nature of the game) might also work really well with it :)

** Graphics **: I really like those, especially the main character :D

** Gameplay **: The gameplay reminds me of pacman, and it also gives of that feel, i even manage to get nearly all batteries (which wasn't easy :D), one thing about it tho sometimes the enemies take a path which leads them to catch you without getting away due to their increased speed compared to yours? maybe more sight of the map would have been good to counter this?

** Overall **: Great job with your entry, you can be proud of what you achieved :)

Low Battery by Battle Buddy 2017-08-02T20:54:42Z

** First impression **: That game looks really interesting, especially a story driven game for a jam :)

** Sound **: Those were really good/fitting for the kind of game you guys made great job :)

** Graphics **: I really like the artstyle, everything fit well together :)

** Gameplay **: At first i thought this will just be an story driven puzzle game, but suddendly monsters were there and i had to run, the music really played a big part into this, great experience :) One thing that was a bit weird tho was that the guy with the key suddendly vanished, i didn't really understand why? also it is possible to trap the monsters in corners^^ (i guess time rand out for path finding^^)

** Overall **: This is a really good entry, all parts play well together, hats off to you guys you managed to create something quite interesting in such an short timeframe :)

Lost in the Dark by Schu 2017-08-10T18:24:42Z

Good job :)

I liked the simplistic style of the game, with the focus on the gameplay :)

Your idea was really fun :) has a lot of potential :) one thing you can probably improve is that currently as others have said it is a lot of trial and error, e.q. if you move wrong in certain levels you basically lost already, also this combined with a rather slow movement speed made the second tries more tideous, maybe an increased movement speed could solve that (with adapted lifespans)?

Overall well done :)

Battery Bunny by Sprouts 2017-08-04T18:37:28Z

Really nice game, i especially like your graphics and the sounds you made they go really well together :)

In terms of gameplay i really like the idea, it fits the theme pretty well but isn't a generic approach :) One thing tho, that wasn't optimal was that i had to look at the bunny but also at the energy bar at the same time, which wasn't really optimal^^

Overall really great entry, i enjoyed it :) you can be proud of yourself :)

daemon by bombjack 2017-08-01T21:50:13Z

** First Impression **: I also saw your post about difficulty, what grabbed me there was actually the artstyle of your game (that one is really well executed :))

** Gameplay **: I really like the concept of your game, there is a lot of room for options, but as others have said it gets really hard really fast, also initial i only found out by accident that i can do wall jumps/can use x to do a higher sword jump maybe something you can improve upon?

** Sound/Graphics **: As i said before those are really well executed great job :)

RedLight by doorless 2017-08-02T21:12:30Z

** First impression **: The light play looks really interesting :)

** Sound **: Really fitting for your game, really well done :)

** Graphics **: Combined with the setting of the game those made for an really great combination of mood and light play :) (i also made a moody game like yours with light play, sadly i haven't gotten around to adding a fitting background sound like you, that really enchanced the game :))

** Gameplay **: I really like the concept of exploring here and that once you die you still gained something to keep going :) and also if you managed to finish something it is easier for you to get back again, really enjoyed that :) as others have said if you keep working on it better controls for climbing the ladders would be nice (i got stuck some times there), but what can you do in such a short time frame :D

** Overall **: Really good result for the given timeframe, i really enjoyed your game :)

Powerhouse by Madbeagle 2017-08-01T12:41:59Z

** First Impression **: Interesting concept :)

** Graphics **: You even managed to create 3D Models, as well as balancing the lighting effects with the 2D style of the puzzle area :)

** Sound **: I like the soundtrack altough it kind made me think i would have a time limit to finish a level because of speed nature of it, maybe something slower would have fit too :)

** Gameplay **: I play this longer than i like to admit :D altough after some time i would have like more variation in the different puzzle tiles available :)

** Overall **: You did a really great job :) you even managed to put in procedural generation for an endless amount of levels i am impressed :)

Powerhouse by Madbeagle 2017-08-01T19:14:22Z

Nice :) would really like to try it out if, you find a solution for the problem, maybe you could make pieces which have a mix of an diagonal axis which is long enough and and straight one? :) but yeah the issue with the time is very understandable for the compo :D

The Wiz by Michael Feldman 2017-08-02T20:17:36Z

As others have said before, that was a really relaxing experience :) i really like the sound and style of your game, that set a great mood :) In terms of gameplay i like that you included an ingame tutorial which force me to learn the controls :) one thing i didn't full understand tho was how i could restore energy? i always ran out of it after going to the right as far as i could and then the game restarted?

Hyper Battery Girl by Deke 2017-08-01T21:16:41Z

** First Impression **: That looks great :)

** Sound **: Really fitting for the Theme, great choice :)

** Graphics **: Those are really well done, especially considering with how many different levels you made :)

** Gameplay **: You managed to include so many different mechanics which fit well together, great job there your game is fun :) two things tho, i initially had trouble to grasp the controls in the game (e.q. at first because the graphics hinted for the controller and i was at the keyboard took some time to find the right buttons and i had the issue when i switched to my xbox controller that the buttons weren't working :(), secondly it took me some time to grasp the attack zap move, but after i understood it i have to say i really enjoyed what you made :)

** Overall **: Altough a bit hard at times :D That was really the best game i have played so far especially considering that you did this alone in 3 days :O

Robocre:8 trials by RNGSilvercraft 2017-08-01T17:04:23Z

** First Impression **: A Robot Shooter nice :D

** Sound **: I really enjoyed the changing sountrack over the levels depending on the game stage :)

** Graphics **: Really well done, especially for the amount of different assets you put into the game :)

** Gameplay **: Every level introduced somehow something new which was really refreshing, especially that there was even a boss fight :) One thing that confused me a bit or maybe should be changed is that my power bar? goes up by collecting XP, also the initial story skipped a bit too fast over each step for my taste

** Overall **: You really managed to finish quite a lot in the short time frame, congrats on creating an great game :) btw. i had no crash issues on windows 10

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-01T18:03:51Z

** First Impression **: That one looks nice :)

** Sound **: The sound effects are really well done and greatly enchance the game :)

** Graphics **: Those are really nice, clean look and everything fits really well together :)

** Gameplay **: A really interesting concept, especially that few seconds of thinking ahead while loading up due to the decrease game speed :D One thing tho as others have mentioned the gameplay is too hard, i really tried a lot of times but i couldn't get past the initial level :O

** Overall **: You can be really proud of what you achieved :) and i would really like to play an adjusted version of the game so that i can get past the first level :D

Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing by RootPew 2017-08-01T17:30:50Z

** First Impression **: The theme of your game and setup definitely drew me in to try it out :D

** Sound **: Well fitting for an game like yours where you have to type fast :)

** Graphics **: You hit it on point with your graphics :) made your game more than "just" a typing game :D

** Gameplay **: Generally a motivating concept to get better at typing :D one issue i faced tho was, when i missed a long word most words which came afterwards only had a really short time frame to type correctly which made it really hard to get back once you messed up, maybe you could have change the game to allow more time for longer words (e.q. that the next ones would flow in later?)

** Overall **: Defenitly my #1 game in terms of humor so far :D really well done :)

TITAN, Defend Earth before it's too late by MichaelTWG 2017-08-01T12:09:30Z

** First impression **: That looks interesting :)

** Graphics/Sound **: Sounds/Graphics are really fitting for an apocalyptical theme :)

** Gameplay **: I really enjoyed the concept of being a tiny dude defending evil demons :D altough the jumping took some time to get used to it :)

** Overall **: I am impressed by how much you guys managed to achieve in that short time frame, really great work :)
