Some tips would be:
Add more mechanics, and some bosses. Maybe a tutorial too, a take some secounds to understand the game, it's ok for me, but some people, do not undestand the game in first seconds and just leave

I did actually have plans for some extra stuff to make it more fun - cooldowns and the likes to clear the screen, or fire your chief of staff to gain some political power ;)
Unfortunately making the "art", audio, etc etc took up too much time on the last day, so I decided to leave it as it was before I created more bugs :D
I might update the version on kongregate with some of these additions once the compo ends, though!

Frantic fun game :) The music was pretty spot on too :)
I didn't like the fact that you had to type THAT HIGHLIGHTED WORD and you didn't have any other choice. So when you know you can't make THAT word in time, and can't start on another, well, that's super annoying.
Have you played the Typing of the Dead? That was great :) The Trumping of the Dead will make a good sequel :)

This was really funny! Got very difficult very quickly and wasn't really progressive but it was fun and the sound effects made it 10 times better!
A very creative use of the theme. I like it, but the ability to start with any of the words on the screen would have made it even better :)

**First of all:** Best typing game I've ever played in my life!!! How is this just not the best game of LD39? XD
**Overall game impression:** Very interesting take on the theme. Very cool that you made it a typing game, not seen a typing game in LD entry before. (This is only my 2nd LD but still) unexpected gameplay and game theme (politics) Very fun and neat. Typing games are always a great way to spend some time. I'll send this game to my slow typing friends :D
**Suggestions and comments on improvement:** I had a problem getting ' to register, not sure if an issue is on my end or not. Other than that, should've made trump swallow every word you type correctly instead of them just falling.

I really liked the game! Really clever use of the theme. I think letting the player type any of the words currently on the screen would be nice.

Just a quick response on some of the suggestions/feedback;
1) Special characters not being recognised on some setups - unfortunately, the only setup I had to work on was my Win10/QWERTY setup. OSX users, and users with QWERTZ keyboards have had troubles with the apostrophe. This is a pretty quick fix, but unfortunately, the deadline for the compo has passed.. so I'm guessing that updates past this point are not permissible. I may back up the original version as it is on kongregate now, and update the current kong version however :)
2) The Game is sort of designed to force you to fail before Day 100, although some people have hit above 140. It's meant to be a short/sweet experience.. unfortunately the exact opposite of the current presidency :P
3) Definitely room for way more features and progression in there - but as is the way with the ludum dare timeframes, many cuts had to be made :) However, I may look into further developing on it in the future!

Very fun. Also I'm french, so I can't really understand the humour in it but I kind of like it ;-) Keep moving forward.
Good game. Altho I'mm not a so quick typer so the game was a little to quick. You could also only type on the one that was in the front. That made it hard because you only got like 1 second before it died on you and the next one appeared. A voice actor or some sample sound would be worth GOLD!!! Well done!
@rootpew pretty sure you're allowed to fix bugs as long as you don't add content.
Love it! Really funny! One small thing, I'm not using an English keyboard and have the ' and - buttons on different keys, and couldn't write words with those signs.

Good game. Humor-wise, it is off the charts. Graphics are spot on. Sound is a taaad bit annoying, but fit the style well. Well done!
As a lot of people said, the ability to start typing any word would have been good since it starts coming so fast you can't really complete any words in the time it takes for your current word to hit him in the face.
Kudos on making a thing with Trump and then not immediately having your comments section explode with political arguments as well.

Kind of fun. I like the interpretation of running out of power as running out of political power (our team breifly considered that, along with running out of magical power). I would consider an update were you don't necessarily have to type one word. If two words are coming at the same time, rather than delegate what the player has to type, why not let them choose on their own?

Concept is good, wish it changed things up a little. But, hey, it delivers exactly what it says on the tin, and with a good amount of polish, so I can't complain.
My first thought at seeing this was "Man, I'm glad I don't have to get this guy's comments," lol. Fortunately, everyone seems to be cool here, so, congrats on that!

I did have one very aggravating problem: Words that start with the same letter should not be on screen at the same time. The game seems to auto-select the closest word with the first letter you type and that poses a bit a problem if you're purposefully letting a tricky word fail. I feel that tracking what starting letters are in play and filtering the dictionary appropriately would go a long way to improving this title.

As the token Trump game of this LD this one was quite alright. I like the graphical style and music. They both give off a crude and hard to take seriously vibe which I think is quite fitting for Trump. Gameplay-wise I thought it was a fairly standard typing game but I do think more leeway would have been nice. Then again, I'm not the fastest typer ever so it could be a fault of my own (English not being my native language and all). Overall, good work!

Fun game, but it gets frustrating when a lot of words come at the same time: you can't choose which word to type and the current word changes constantly, at this point I can't do anything and just wait for the game to end. Maybe each letter you type could have a knockback effect on the word?

This game made me lol harder than any I'd played so far. I like how you interpreted the theme, it made for a more unique game. Also the challenge of typing I think is very fitting for the LD audience. Having a web platform made it really easy to play. Clear, yet funny graphics. Overall well done!
Obviously 5/5 for humor. This is probably the funniest game I've played so far. The presentation is very nice as well. The theme seems pretty tacked on, but whatever. It's a great game anyway.
I wish there was more covfefe to be honest. I've been waiting for covfefe to show up, but it rarely does. Covfefe is such a fitting meme for this that I feel there should be a mechanic centered just around that one word. Like some kind of frenzy mode where every word becomes covfefe.
The gameplay is okay, but it gets very hectic quickly and if you're unlucky with the word lenghts it's pretty impossible to hit every word.
** First Impression **: The theme of your game and setup definitely drew me in to try it out :D
** Sound **: Well fitting for an game like yours where you have to type fast :)
** Graphics **: You hit it on point with your graphics :) made your game more than "just" a typing game :D
** Gameplay **: Generally a motivating concept to get better at typing :D one issue i faced tho was, when i missed a long word most words which came afterwards only had a really short time frame to type correctly which made it really hard to get back once you messed up, maybe you could have change the game to allow more time for longer words (e.q. that the next ones would flow in later?)
** Overall **: Defenitly my #1 game in terms of humor so far :D really well done :)

I'm fairly sure that this is going to win for humour. I feel that the game started a little hard and could do with being a bit more fair and balanced.
Game was fun, and slightly addictive to play, with simple enough gameplay to understand and play. I understand the need for shorter words and phrases but it would've been fun to write out his real tweets as well.

My only suggestion is to make the sfx for finishing typing and failing typing something different; when the texts were really close to the face I was confused on whether I finished typing it or not. But that isn't a yuge issue. Other than that, I think this is very bigly and high energy ;)

Hey all,
Thanks a million for all the comments & feedback!
As I found it was within the rules to do so, I pushed through an bugfix update which now skips any special characters (dashes, apostrophes etc).
A lot of the suggestions put forward were actually planned to go into the game - but unfortunately, 2 days (of which one was spent with a hangover) is not a great amount of time to get a game fully made, without making a few sacrifices along the way. You'll notice the bottom bar is completely empty - this was actually intended for for some "cooldown" functions, which would have made the game a bit easier. Functions such as firing your chief of staff (slow down words at a cost of political power), or a pepe blast; turning every word into a high power pepe for about 10 seconds to give you some breathing room.
Getting these built in wouldn't be too big an update - I'll likely write it up, post the updated version elsewhere (as to not interfere with compo voting), and then copy it across as the voting period ends.

Challenging game, made me question how fast I can really type.
Lol, way too fast! I totally lost. I agree with the opinion that you should be able to type whatever words you want. Also, it would be good to have a difficulty setting, as a lot of folks can't type that fast.
Days survived: 98. Loved the concept and I definitely have not seen any other typing games for this LD! Great job :)

This game is really good! I liked how this game portrayed the theme(instead of power being electricity its capability). I also liked the audio (I caught a hint of the Star Spangled Banner in the audio)! Do keep in mind though that Trump supporters might get offended by this game and will rate it badly. I hope your game gets scored highly though :)
Edit: Please do add a screen in the game telling the player how to play. I struggled with learning how to play. Only when I looked at the instructions below I realized how to play. At the very least, please put the instructions on this LD page. Cheers!

Cool, I usually don't like political themes but the game mechanics is fun!! I tried typing other words too, then figured you can only type selected one. Probably could use some improvement, but anyways, great job!! An idea: perhaps you could make actual tweets out of the words that the player chose to write? Like a tweet generator. Thanks!
I like what you did based on the theme. The game plays nice and it's funny. You should add an instructions screen (just an extra lines in this page will help). Maybe it was me, but I didn't realize I had to type the words until I read the instructions in Kongregate.

Since you also made a Trump game, I had to play this :laughing:! It's actually really funny to see how different our games are even though we both chose Trump and had Losing Power as theme. The game itself is very well executed. Everything just works, and nothing seems out of place. The game does, as many others have mentioned, get a bit repetitive after a while, not that Ludum Dare gives you the time to create a game of that scale anyway. Good job!
(It also made me realize how bad my typing skills are, but we are going to let that slide)
5 stars! When I typed and kept with the stream for a few seconds I felt excited! If you continue to develop this, when I was overwhelmed after less than a minute I felt dejected. At first I wasn't noticing which word was selected to type.

The game became quite hectic, but the typing mechanics worked well, as did the graphic, sound and music.
Sometimes, slower words were highlighted, so that there was no time to type both that word, and the faster word reaching the head first.

Really funny game xD maybe it could be a little slower at the beginning for the not english native speakers players, so we can adapt our "eye-hands" ability a little before the big word explosion takes place. And sometimes the fast word passes over the "red word that you are typing righ now", so you can't make them both. Nice music, nice art and a really funny game :) Congrats!!!

Hahaha tremendous. Huge. Winning. I couldn't last very much longer than 60 days because of my iq. Sad. Music is part of the great humor deployed humor, gameplay is simple, but i think that the diffulty could be adjusted easily on speed, and words length. I decided that i will stop playing when I would not see a new stupid declaration but there is always a new one to make me laught... He is a abundant source of absurd quotes :] Nice job and great fun.
