Overall a good and cute little game. I love the idea of running in a wheel to power a whole space ship

eric-florio 2017-08-01 06:03

The idea is good, but I found it too difficult because of the switching between screens. Using keys 1, 2 and 3 to switch automatically between rooms would be easier, but probably against the "soul" of the game. Maybe just making the transition between inside and outside almost instantaneous would be better. Nice job!

daydreamerstudios 2017-08-01 16:58

All in all a great game! The ship feels kinda slow and the attacking enemy is a bit too strong, but the art style and the idea with the wheel are great. Keep up the good work.

pbg 2017-08-01 17:02

Wow, you really nailed the theme on this one. I like the idea of a mini, real-time FTL. It is quite challenging - I could not beat it. I agree with @eric-florio that maybe making the transition faster would help. Also, even if you don't do that, I think allowing the ship to move forward when you are not looking would help a bit. This is one of the most polished games I've played here. Cheers!

wmerges 2017-08-01 17:04

I thought this game was a lot of fun. I liked how you incorporated the theme and I actually enjoyed the switching screens mechanic. Job well done.

hgcummings 2017-08-01 17:20

Really nice little game, like a pocket FTL. The graphics are lovely and the music is very good too. I agree with Switching between rooms and between views makes the gameplay a bit stop-start at times, but also presents a nice challenge to the player.

pedrowzee 2017-08-01 23:22

It gets very hard in the second half, but that's not a bad thing. I really liked the hamster wheel animation!

polona 2017-08-02 10:15

Nice game. I needed some time to understand that i have to switch between the rooms. I liked the game.

akirassasin 2017-08-02 11:46

A really fun and simple game! I loved the attention to details in graphics :) the music is also amazing.

roguenoodle 2017-08-02 12:01

Awesome entry! @eric-florio said pretty much everything I was thinking in terms of criticism - other than that, loved it!

automatonvx 2017-08-02 23:12

Love the concept and really nice style with the art and music was cool too. Also loved the mouse designed ship powered by a hamster wheel, you are getting full marks for humour for that. I also didn't finish it, as already said the long transitions make it harder than it feels like it should be, also it often happens that you stuck behind an asteroid with someone shooting at the other side.. if you go to the cockpit you get shot when you move, so you are a bit stuck, but maybe thats just part of the game.

jotson 2017-08-03 20:43

Very cool... simple mechanics but lots to do. Fun game!

stevenjmiller 2017-08-04 16:07

Great game! The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is engaging. It took me a few tries, but I eventually made it to the end. I'm not sure if this was just on my end, but the top row of pixels in the thanks for playing message was missing.

eggnog 2017-08-05 05:03

This is really fun! I wish that I could see the outside of the ship at the same time as the inside, as to better manage what's going on, though I'm sure that being unable to see where you're going is half the fun! It's a really cool, original idea, and along with the art, this is one of my favorite entries in this LDJAM! Great job! :)

bombjack 2017-08-06 09:15

Very ingenious idea! It could be improved by having both the interior and the exterior of the ship on the screen at the same time. You could also had a view of the hull where you could send the hero to repair. I forsee a lot of pontential in this game. Amazing job

nitzanel 2017-08-06 13:58

Amazing idea, and well executerd. the graphics are nice, and the gameplay is good.

One thing i would like to have is the abillity to change the position of the human without openning up the ship panel every time, maybe a keyboard shortcut.

adroitconceptions 2017-08-06 14:05

it was really nice game over all... about halfway through, I was wishing for hotkeys to move around the ship. Really interesting use of the theme. music matched the art. could have used a few sounds for the other ships attacking/etc.

rikoclon 2017-08-06 14:37

This was actually quite fun despite its simplistic style! You two should be proud! I liked to see the inside of the ship, infact why not have it displayed the whole time, beside the action screen? I think this, incorporated with the use of the numbers 1 and 2 for power and weapons and either 3 or D to move forward, instead of clicking would have made a massive difference here and improved game-play tenfold, in an already fun game. The art is great! I was a little surprised to see you couldn't shoot the asteroids and it wasn't exactly intuitive to move the ship up or down, since forwards was not controlled buy a key. The enemies were good and the levels increasing difficulty was spot on. I would have liked it if the health didn't recharge automatically maybe you need a repair bot pickup. and if there was a shield that you could charge similarly to the power charge. If you guys were to make a larger version of the game maybe you could do like a rapid fire pickup that doesn't need power or something. You've made a really enjoyable experience and I hope my feedback helps you to continue to produce good games. Great job!

[Space Dog](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/space-dog-ld-39) says hello to Astro Mouse! :dog:  :mouse:

Our games are surprisingly similar, and also quite different!

What I love about yours: - beautiful, simplistic, finished art style - music reminiscent of FTL, which fits well, nicely laid back - great use of the Unity Web Player, I need to check out how you did that. - beautiful microcosm of the ship - difficulty curve is nice! - good humour on the "background story" - space krakens, eeeee!

Try differently: - I wish the ship coasted just a little when I got off the helm or ran out of power

Overall: - one of the nicest little games I have played, very well executed, very charming to play and watch!

omriysh 2017-08-06 15:04

I love this. A lot. It does a few simple things, but it does them perfectly and it is super polished and very well done. The sound and graphics are great and create a really cool mood, while the gameplay is simple, super fun and gets harder over time in a good linear way (which is something a lot of games here don't really do that well). I just loved it!

franfox 2017-08-06 16:39

I really enjoyed playing this game! The art and the music are cool, I liked the squared screen format too but for me the best was the clever way to adopt the theme with the 3 space positions (and of course the mouse wheel motor, lol). I think the mechanic of changing the position is very fun and it can be expanded in the future.

I've noticed the HP bar on the bottom left corner is hiding your ship many times so maybe it needs some UI polish. Anyway the game was so cool and fun! Good job!

egordorichev 2017-08-06 18:51

Wow, great game! Really love the graphics and the idea, of switching one person on multiple tasks! One of the most polished games, I saw this Ludum Dare. Hope, I will see you on next LD! **_Sharing one vote, can't do more :D_ **

jimbly 2017-08-06 21:23

Great game, love the feel! I think it perhaps would have been improved if running out of power had a consequence (e.g. HP drain or game end), as it was, it felt pretty relaxed, and I only ever switched to generating power when I was in perfect safety, and just sat there to watch the power/hp go up... would have added some tension if I had to do that mid battle in fear of running out of power.

christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-07 19:35

Wheee 30th rating! Congrats on this little gem <333

rocketship 2017-08-09 06:32

Loved it! The gameplay is very simple but it's done in a way where it's not just clicking different resources or waiting for bars to go up and down, it makes you be active. That's a great thing and increases the enjoyability a lot. The graphics were simple but adorable, everything on the screen felt understandable and clear as to what their purpose was.

The difficulty was rather easy but I tend to like that in jam games more than brutal difficulty, easier to actually try out all the features and see what the game has to offer.

Enjoyed to bits playing this one. Fantastic job.

schu 2017-08-10 14:46

Very nice! I love the graphics and the core concept of the game. It's a bit hard at first figuring out shooting and movement but once you understand it, it's completely doable. I like the mood a lot in particular.

kerdelos 2017-08-17 18:28

This is excellent, every aspect of the game seems really polish and I can't really say what you could have done better in 72h. Maybe alllowing to still see the surrounding of the ship while we are recharging the battery would add more tension and anticipation as you would see the ennemies coming at you.

2017-08-21 15:37

I reviewed your game in my jam section video and even predicted it as the winner ! Here is the part concerned : https://youtu.be/gbRli1YdcXk?t=841 Don't mind to ask a translation, and congratulations :)
