LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

The More You Make by TerraCottaFrog 2017-12-04T04:30:48Z

Nice job! The games are quite well done, look nice and feel nice! This is a quite fun entry!

On the down side: I'm not sure on what to think about how much does this entry actually fills the theme. Sure, there are "more" games, but I don't really think they are "worse" because of being more. The proof is obvious: they are good games; I don't see anything that got "worse". Of course, I'm not saying that you should've done mediocre games instead! All in all, I really enjoyed this.

Orbits by tuism 2017-12-09T00:26:53Z

Cool game! I had a lot of fun with this! Congratulations! I only managed to do 7 planets, though :(

I wasn't sure about planet collisions, but now I read you removed them in your post-compo version. I can't say if that's the right call or not; I guess only time will say.

Congrats again!

Orbits by tuism 2017-12-09T02:42:28Z

I forgot to mention something in my comment: I didn't like the mouse movement. It was too slow, and I had to move my mouse for insane lengths in order to move my character.

Crazy Cat Lady by Jacksendary 2017-12-11T00:20:41Z

The game looks really nice overall. Lights? Shaders? The low-poly stuff? I don't know why exactly, but I liked the graphic style a lot. The audio is cool, too, specially the music.

I had the same problem than others had: it's difficult to get the hang on how to play. Finding how to interact with things was hard because it seems that the pointer fails to detect objects from certain distances/angles, and I couldn't understand why were my cats dying after several tries: I put water and food on bowls and opened the door when the bell rang with no avail :(

Click by Porcus_Pie 2017-12-09T03:12:05Z

I like it! I didn't feel it off beat, but I don't have a lot of experience with rhythm games, so I can be wrong.

I missed the score while I was playing. Also, sometimes I felt that the keys were a bit random in what notes they were playing. What I mean with this is that, for examples, the two keys on the left could focus on percussion, and the two on the right could focus on the melody. What I feel is that currently, all the keys have to do with percussion, and for example, sometimes you needed to press two of them for a single drum hit just because.

Other than that, I think this is a cool entry!

Laws Of Attraction by SelfTitled 2017-12-05T15:23:29Z

Well done! The trade-off between charging gates quickly and having enough energy to survive is quite interesting. The particles look really nice.

I can see this being turned into a fun mobile game! Some of my thoughts:

- I'm not sure about how the scenario looks. It doesn't look bad, but somehow I think it's a bit off. Maybe you may try to give it of glow, too? Or maybe it could be somehow more minimalist? - I also think that the levels should not be randomized (particles seem to start in a random state each time). That way, the game will be a bit more "puzzle" (unless you actually want a quick action game :P).

Good luck!

Charge Arena by PurpleAlien 2017-12-05T23:33:24Z

Hi! Good work finishing the game!

I especially like the graphics. They look quite good and polished. Too bad there's no sound (but I totally understand).

The game is a bit too chaotic for my taste. I think that's because of the controls: it's a bit uncomfortable to drive, and aim at the same time. Maybe if you could aim with the mouse and move with the keys?

Good luck!

Do you have the colour? by saintheiser 2017-12-14T23:11:11Z

35! I honestly didn't think I would do that amount, as I got a terrible amount of greens that were kind of difficult to distinguish!

This is a super cool idea for a minigame. I had a lot of fun with the colors. The only thing I think can break the game is the risk of two VERY similar colors appearing (if colors are random, imagine if you got 220,75,75 and 220,75,76 in the palette!).

Nice job!

Curse of Greed by Sophie Houlden 2017-12-05T02:32:43Z

Congratulations! This is a really well-thought game. The trade-off between money and HP is genius! I think this is my favorite Pico-8 game so far (not only in this jam, but in general!).

Dungeon Raid by kbf123 2017-12-06T02:49:29Z

Haha, nice game. The boulder and ending #1 were quite funny! It's actually cool that you created several endings.

I found a bug: controls stop working if your Caps Lock key is activated.

Stack by johnbrynte 2017-12-06T00:08:53Z

Nice minigame! I got to 5! A less aggressive background would be appreciated by your players' eyes :)

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-13T13:17:04Z

This is a quite cool entry! I really liked it. The graphics and audio are incredibly polished, and the action feels quick and fun!

I found the same downside as other people: the game misses some kind of tactical component because all the enemies attack you at the same time and in the same way, and the character's attacks are too plain (the punch and the kick are too similar, the simple ranged attack does almost nothing). At some point, it was a matter of focusing on countering the enemy's area attack with my area attack.

That being said, this is an amazing entry overall! Congrats!

Trial of the Reaper by Cliff Lee CL 2017-12-07T23:53:41Z

I enjoyed this game. The pace is quite quickly, dynamic and fun.

I like your music selection. I'm not sure about the graphics, though, for one reason: I think they are too "cheerful" for your game. In my opinion, your audio set the right mood, but the graphics weren't aligned with it. I don't think the problem is in the models, but in the colors; I think the issue may be solved simply with some post-processing: darkening the whole scene, desaturating the colors a bit, adding some noise, etc. For example: your GIF in this page has some noise on it; I know it's probably unintentional, but I think it actually gives the scene a kind of dark feeling (without resorting to gore or blood, as usually happens).

All in all, a fun entry!

Rhythm Bandit by fashionbatman 2017-12-05T23:58:12Z

The idea behind this entry is seriously good! Congratulations on that!

At the same time, however, the idea of changing the floor tiles is terrible! I really think your game will improve a LOT with a static floor! (haha, a quick glance at the comments revealed me that I'm not the only one against the crazy floor :P)

Chezz! by 4kbshort 2017-12-06T03:21:35Z

This is kind of a cool idea (and looks really nice on the Pico-8), but, of course, it must be tested to see how to make it as balanced as possible haha. I think it's simply impossible for humans to win if we stick to the original chess rules. With that in mind, here are some ideas:

- To keep the original rules and score based on how many turns do Humans last before being overrun (or how quickly can zombies kill all humans). - To somehow give humans tools to combat the zombies more effectively. Power-ups or so. - To start the game with more humans than zombies, so zombies are forced to capture in order to grow their horde. For examples, just start with zombie pawns + the king.

All in all, nice idea!

Grammar Dystopia by Xarras 2017-12-08T13:50:31Z

Good game! The videos/drawings were cool, and the fourth-wall breaking was hilarious!

Traffic Trouble by lekiy 2017-12-06T00:29:57Z

Guys, I don't want to bear bad news or complicate things, but the Compo is only for games made by a single person. If you actually created Traffic Trouble in a team, you should contact the event organizers and ask them to move your entry to the Jam category.

Anyway, I'm about to play the game right now.

Traffic Trouble by lekiy 2017-12-06T01:17:40Z

OK, this is good stuff! I enjoyed the experience overall! The graphics are good for the game style, and the gameplay is really nice.

The critical thing that could be improved is the one that smbe19 mentioned: a lot of the levels are too easy by simply turning all the lights red. With some improvements in that aspect, this can become a really cool puzzle game!

Good luck!

PS: Good thing you could move the game from category that easily! Yes, it could be a page error; the website has several bugs here and there.

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-05T02:52:32Z

A quite good and fun game! I think everybody already said everything that can be said, but yes, this is a solid entry!

Reaper Boy LD40 Edition by jessefreeman 2017-12-06T05:06:52Z

A good looking, retro game! The mechanic is interesting and the controls are responsive.

It feels a bit incomplete, however, because of the small amount of levels and the fact that falling too fast doesn't actually prove fatal :P The music is too repetitive, too.

Mushroom Délicieux by TRASEVOL_DOG 2017-12-06T20:51:30Z

This little thing has quite nice visuals and audio!

As the others, I found the game a bit confusing. That's probably because in the first levels, some decorations look like food. Given that enemies are living environmental elements, the confusion may get worse. Also, I had a bit of trouble with the camera the first time I played (I also found it a bit weird).

Other than that, the game is fun!

Sheperdy! by loveapplegames 2017-12-11T23:53:53Z

My dog is a Border Collie, and I know he'd love to play this haha.

This is quite a cool idea. The flocking feels quite nice, and the game overall plays well. The only thing I miss in the game is a place to move the sheeps to, as, right now, the game is missing a way to actually beat the levels (you can simply do nothing and wait until the time expires and still beat the level).

I seriously think that, with some extra work, this can be turned into a quite nice mobile or web game. Overall, good job!

Sheperdy! by loveapplegames 2017-12-11T23:56:08Z

I forgot to mention: I replied to your comment in my entry, Yottaman. Hopefully, it may clarify the game a bit. If you got some time to check it out again, it would be awesome: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/yottaman

Parent Simulator by Arputikos 2017-12-04T05:02:06Z

Congratulations on finishing the jam!

This is a nice mini-game. It gets a bit repetitive with time, but it works. Also, the audio makes it specially hilarious!

Birds Birds Birds by Versatile Box 2017-12-27T22:22:07Z

Shooter Guy by sirikan 2017-12-05T13:25:42Z

Congratulations on finishing the jam! While the game currently looks incomplete (those darned 48 hours!), it can be worked further and turned into something quite good.

You already know that the enemies could be more aggressive (also, there could be more of them). I may add that some of the sounds are underwhelming. For example, the shooting sound is missing power.

Good luck!

Money Laundering Simulator by candlesan 2017-12-23T21:56:49Z

This is one of my favorite games. I replayed it several times until I got to the leaderboard :)

The games is quite engaging and fun. My only complain is that randomness may cause games to become impossible to win, as you may not receive good enough skills to guarantee the required output of clean money.

I really think that this may be extended to a fully fledged game. Well done!

Knights and Kings by Chaosinism 2017-12-06T01:39:05Z

I see potential here! This could be the start of a really cool chess-based strategy game!

As the others, I'm not sure about the game being real-time. However, that's not my main complaint, but the fact that pieces can break others just by passing by their side. I think pieces should only destroy others if they actually fall in the corresponding square. The game sometimes feels kind of random because of that (for example, I was trying a strategy and suddenly a bishop in the black squares killed my king in a white square).

Good job with the music and the graphics too!

VIRAL ARENA by EnchaeC 2017-12-06T23:31:22Z

Solid entry! Good job! I especially liked the audio, both the music and the effects!

JobOS by NicMagnier 2017-12-12T03:24:08Z

That was a neat game.

JobOS by NicMagnier 2017-12-12T03:26:42Z

Now seriously, good job! Quite an interesting experience, from the beginning (with the modem noise) to the end!

SPOILER ALERT: I feel there's something weird about the ending: why would the hacker transfer you the money and destroy your computer just afterwards? I mean, either he's a traitor or he's not.

Hungry Dino by nax_89 2017-12-22T15:32:36Z

A Hero's Burden by muffty 2017-12-18T23:12:54Z

This is amazing. The game needs some tweaks gameplay-wise (for example, in the combat, as other comments mention) and the visibility, but the narrative is quite well done. In the end, I was tense with whatever decision I took, as I knew that every move would have dire consequences. It's great to experience this dark side of a hero's life.

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-06T23:00:08Z

Super cool concept, and the Windows simulation is quite awesome!

I got tired of typing after a while. As the words aren't real, it was difficult for me to optimize the process by memorizing the answers or typing at full speed. I think that if you somehow manage to procedurally generate real-looking sentences, this could become something seriously fun (and even useful for people learning to type).

I noticed that there's certain "hidden" included application (that may be useful for copying and pasting to optimize the work). That's a nice touch!

All in all, good job! Congrats!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-23T17:20:34Z

This is one of my favorite entries. It's quite well done in every aspect, including the story.

I found really cool that you could get your disabled drones back to the ship. On the downside, that can be exploded a bit: at some point, I self-destroyed an almost dead drone close to the ship so I could easily bring it back. On the bright side, you can't always do that as you actually need to go to find stuff, and you can indeed die in difficult-to-retrieve places.

The last level was kind of underwhelming in the difficulty. I think the danger should be at max since the beginning of the level in that one.

The music is great, but maybe a darker music (like the one that plays during the Story) would fit the game theme better.

That's it. I cannot give you too much more feedback simply because I enjoyed the game a lot. Congratulations on the great work!

NoteBoy by carlosvVk 2017-12-14T22:29:39Z

I like this game. I could handle up to 5 noteboys, but then things got really hard!

The delay when clicking is the only thing I think should really be improved. I played the web version, and the character jumps a noticeable amount of time after clicking, which makes things more difficult than they should.

Overall, this is a cool idea! :)

Perfect Limbo by sirJupitron 2017-12-27T22:00:25Z

Me gustó.

¡Buen trabajo!

Overdose by Kashif 2017-12-05T13:37:00Z

Hard as hell, especially in the initial moments! I liked a lot the way you convey Tim's remaining life (with the BPM and the heartbeat).

Poor Tim; let's hope nothing like this happens this time to all the non-winners of LD!

PS: Cool "worms"!

Cup-O-Matic by Masadow 2017-12-06T21:54:59Z

Score: 6750. Out of a sudden, the Cup-o-matic became insane, my fingers somehow moved from their tactical position in the keyboard and I was doomed quickly afterwards :(

This game shows some serious teamwork. The graphics and the audio are amazingly polished, and the gameplay feels solid. The key remapping is also well polished!

Difficulty seems good to me. I don't know if at some point it may become impossible to play (a problem that games of jams usually have because of the little time for making long tests), but it was good until my score. I didn't notice that pushing the wrong key actually had some punishment! I was about to comment that before I saw @potti's comment.

As a suggestion: put a "How to play" button that shows the initial screen (the one with the instructions) again. It's a really simple solution for your lack of tutorial, as I think the instructions are clear. The thing is that the current order (instructions, start screen, gameplay) is weird. You may also show the instructions after the player clicks "Play" (start screen, instructions, gameplay).

Congratulations on this great entry!

OverPowered! by Sir Mr Dr Prof Sr Jr PhD 2017-12-06T00:25:06Z

This is a quite cool game! I lost my achievements and score after closing the app, though :(

I'm sorry I don't really have too much feedback. It's a good game overall!

Also, +1 humor for your Atari Jaguar build! haha

Objectification by CaptainDreamcast 2017-12-13T16:15:31Z

OK, I was happily torn apart :)

I liked that each character had a quite defined personality. The graphics are funny but somehow disturbing at the same time haha.

Overall, the game was fun. In the beginning, I was getting bored because there was only a girlfriend and the day was quite long, but afterwards things became more interesting as I had to begin remembering things and fill the meters up.

It would be nice to have a button to skip a conversation and go directly to the question.

Good job!

Cholesterol by MadreDeDios 2017-12-04T17:54:08Z

A fun take on the theme! Good thing you allow both the mouse and the keyboard, too!

My two cents: - I think it's a bit too difficult to get over 30, specially given that the difficulty ramps exponentially with cholesterol (more enemies = more risk of growing = more probability of picking even more enemies!). - The donut looks a bit out of contest in the general aesthetics of the game. We're inside the bloodstream, why would there be a donut in there? Not sure on what to suggest, though :(

Congrats!

Crapbag by acoto87 2017-12-14T23:04:11Z

I finished!

OK, this is cool. I don't know how much of the mechanic comes from Fidel as I haven't played it, but this is cool.

The instructions are missing something: that you can't touch your own path.

One thing I'm not sure I liked is that you need to pick a heart to see where do monsters spawn with it. That makes planning a bit difficult. However, I may be complaining just because I'm a bit hasty; a more patient player may simply pick the hearts, see the consequence and undo if necessary; after all, that's what the button is there, I guess.

Overall, this is a good entry!

RQ5: backup-dancer rampage! by Adrien Dittrick 2017-12-05T14:18:01Z

This is one of my favorite games! Really, good job!

As others have said: responsive controls are a must here. Also, sometimes, the movement doesn't feel in sync with the music. I'm not really sure on how will you leave everyone happy at the same time (responsive controls + sync with music), but it's worth your time as the game is quite good!

EDIT: By the way, I stopped playing in The City, not because I wasn't having fun, but because I want to try other entries. I loved the "other invasion", haha.

Cosmiring by Dumivid 2017-12-14T22:07:31Z

Well done! This is interesting, especially because of the size of the map and the "new traps have been activated" mechanic.

My main suggestion would be some kind of map, as it's quite easy to get lost in such a huge place. Also, some way to heal yourself or save your progress would be quite appreciated.

Good job overall!

Webshop Live CMS by leffe108 2017-12-23T20:40:26Z

The concept actually works, as the game got me engaged :) It may be a bit too hard, though, as I did my absolute best and only got 7 points. Maybe all is needed is a bit more space to maneuver. I don't have any other comments about the mechanics. They are good, and the game could be extended from them if you wanted.

I'm not really sure about the take on the theme. Sure, the game is more difficult with more users, but that's kind of "standard".

Get in Shape by Prostone 2017-12-04T04:53:32Z

This is an excellent entry. Requiring the player to play all the games at the same time makes a quite good experience. The graphics are simple but good looking.

I appreciate the game having music, and even more the fact that the music adapts to the amount of active games. The only downside I see is that, in my opinion, the music style doesn't fit a lot with the rest of the game aesthetics.

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-09T00:08:59Z

This is a nice looking, minimalist game! Here are my two cents of things that I think can be improved:

- The background is a flat color, so it's difficult to know where are you, or how fast are you moving. Some kind of texture or decoration in the background would help a lot with this. - When you are under 1 light, things get too random. If a black square suddenly appears close to you, you are dead, as you won't have time to react. That makes it difficult to create a strategy for maximizing your time. - I think that zooming the camera out at some moments can increase the strategic value of the game, as you may plan routes to shink-grow yourself. - Sometimes, the game gets slow. You wait for a while, pick a light to stay close to 1 size, and wait again.

That's it! I think that with some work and tweaking, the game can be polished and turned into something quite cool!

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-09T13:43:16Z

@turbulentwinds Those ideas sound good. The minimap sounds useful, too; I guess you'll know how it goes after doing some testing with it :)

I also think you may make the game more dynamic by simply tweaking what you already have. For example: what would happen if you made the walls faster, and increased the threshold for changing the walls direction (currently 1) to, let's say 3? You wouldn't die so fast when under the threshold, but you would need to move a lot more. I don't know, I guess you would need to test :P

Good luck with the game!

Virus Detected by NotSpaghettiGames 2017-12-12T13:43:47Z

Cool game! With more polishing, this could become great!

My main critique goes to the shooting controls: I think you can aim better with the mouse, for example, as right now you're limited to shooting in 4 directions only. If you plan to make this a mobile game, dual sticks would be perfect.

Congrats!

Cairn by Talia 2017-12-06T02:11:55Z

The fun thing is that several players point at how relaxing they find the game. I, on the other hand, was going mad trying to keep the rocks stable! I think that @andrewjadams description of the experience is exactly on the point: the thing is relaxing while you're doing fine, and then comes a jolt (or, in my case, a container truck) of stress when everything falls.

Anyway, well done! I've read that you recently started with Unity and C#. Well, it's awesome that you made a LD compo game this early :)

Computer-Man RPG by Wolfo 2017-12-12T13:19:58Z

This is a super-cool game! The overall aesthetics were awesome! Great job!

The battles are cool. As other people, I had trouble understanding how to kill the enemies. After that, the game flowed quite well. I'm not sure about the difficulty: it was kind of easy to me to win. At the same time, however, each battle felt quite long. Maybe this could improve if you could attack several enemies at once?

All in all, the game is awesome, congrats! I stopped playing in the battle against 3 enemies not because I wasn't having fun, but only because I want to try more games.

By the way: I've found something you may want to fix: the game speed seems to be tied to the FPS. That means that if the game runs at a low framerate (which happened to me in the web version), the overall game will be slow (or at least the initial walking part was; not sure about the combats).

Magic tet-wood! by Dinosaur 2017-12-12T13:33:02Z

Cool idea!

I liked the mix of story and Tetris. In fact, the same concept may be applied to other classic puzzle games!

The mushroom kicked my ass, sadly. That thing is simply insane. However, the game idea can prevail: you can fight other easier enemies first (to get used to enemies attacking you with difficult shapes), and then fight the boss.

And yes, I agree with the others: the story can be made so it's more connected to the Tetris gameplay.

Congrats!

My Greedy Dog Steve by Honest Dan 2017-12-10T04:33:37Z

The graphic style is amazing, and the game is fun for a while. "For a while" because the gameplay gets a bit repetitive with time. It's kind of what happens with several MMORPGs: the quests are always similar (kill N monsters and bring me the items they drop). I don't really know what to suggest about this, but *maybe* if the game was a bit faster, the player wouldn't notice the issue that much?

The perks with downsides are an interesting idea. I didn't like them at first, as I'm used to just progressing with my character, but they force the player to take some unusual choices: not only on what do I want to be stronger, but also on what do I need to avoid getting weaker! I'm not sure about the "big" anti-perks (like the one that makes you hit yourself, damn it!), though, but maybe that's because I didn't find enough items or stuff to try to counter those massive disadvantages (and that, in turn, may have been because of the perks I picked, which would mean it's totally my fault because of the choices I made!).

Overall, good entry! Congratulations on the good work, and on trying some cool ideas!

ESCAPE KEY by Empyrean 2017-12-11T23:39:15Z

Awesome! The cool thing is that it's actually true: it's really harder to play with all the keys! At first, I thought that it was going to be somehow easier, but it seems that my brain has mapped the concept of "pushing a key to move to a certain direction" too deeply!

Of course, there's the challenge of dealing with all the possible keyboards the player may have, but this is a bold entry!

Good job!

Christmas Present by Jons games 2017-12-06T22:39:58Z

Quite good execution of a cool idea! Really well done!

The bad thing about this kind of experiments is that there are a lot of things out of your control that can break the game. For example, at some point, I got an empty window instead of a window with a Santa on it. I don't know if that's normal. You can also close a window by mistake and I couldn't see a way to spawn it again.

Anyway, congratulations for being bold with that. The result is quite amazing!

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-07T00:23:56Z

Really cute game. The graphics are amazing! Congratulations!

I miss two things: an in-game explanation of the objective of the game, and some feedback when you hit or get hit.

I have a bittersweet feeling with the audio, as I simply adored it and was going to praise you as hell for it, but it looks that it's a third party audio. Well, that's an incredible pick! Combined with your graphics, it threw the mood of the game to the stratosphere for me!

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-07T01:55:47Z

@Fis I wanted to ask you about the song. What's its name?

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T01:20:02Z

@chaosinism Thanks! Actually, that doesn't work: the counter of "Remaining enemies" shows the amount of enemies to be spawned yet. They are simply spawning while you are up there; if you get back to the ground, you'll find an army of enemies!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T02:14:32Z

@eric-florio Thanks! Just to clarify: when you get power upgrades, you start destroying it with your lasers and with bullets that bounce on your body.

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T02:30:10Z

@eric-florio Haha, sure. You need two things: to evade the enemies' bullets, and to aim your lasers so they don't hit the buildings, the floor or the car. It gets difficult, but can be done!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T13:57:05Z

Hi, @goldranger. What kind of error did you get? Did the game crash? Where you playing the web version, or the desktop version? Has it happened once or several times? Thanks for the help!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-06T21:38:40Z

@masadow Thanks for your kind and encouraging words! I'm really happy you liked the game that much!

Actually (unless you've found some bug I haven't seen), that "bad aiming" effect is a visual effect, consequence of moving and shooting at the same time, as the lasers go from the point where they are created to the point where you clicked. If you are moving, the camera moves with you, and the lasers may seem to 1) have appeared from weird places (like the back of the hero's head, his body or out of nowhere) and 2) arrive to a wrong spot. If you shoot while staying still, the laser should appear in Yottaman's eyes and touch your pointer's tip when moving. I'm still to find a way to avoid that undesired visual behaviour.

@loveapplegames Hi, thanks for the comment! If you want to give it a try again, I can assure you that the gameplay is well defined. Sadly, I've concluded that the game isn't as intuitive as I wished. Some quick tips:

- You gain power levels with time. - You are too powerful to be damaged by bullets, but in power levels higher than "Some", bullets bounce in your body and can damage the world if they hit something! Conclusion: *evade the bullets*! - Your laser also damages the world when you are in levels higher than "Some". Conclusion: *aim your laser* well so it only hits the enemies! - In "Apocalyptic" level, your powers are too extreme, and don't give room for mistakes!

That's it. I hope you can give it another try! Thanks for playing!

@seannoonan Haha, the censorship was because I wasn't sure if the rules said something about cursing and didn't have the time to check. This is my first LD, so I wanted to be careful ;)

You win if you manage to destroy all the enemies. It's a bit hard, but possible after you understand what do you need to do to avoid losing (there are some tips on the top of this page).

Thanks for playing!

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-13T15:40:04Z

@wolfo Thanks for playing! You probably weren't evading the enemy bullets. They bounce in your body with so much power that they set the world on fire ;) After you become more powerful, they break the world in half with a single hit :)

Yottaman by Racso 2017-12-14T22:54:07Z

@moski Wow, thanks a lot! I'm quite happy you liked it, specially after playing Jazzy Beats and seeing what you guys could do!

I'm really sorry for the crash, especially because I see that you were about to win the game. I've tested the game again and I couldn't reproduce it, but I'll keep trying. The hard thing is to get to know if it's actually something under my control or if it's some Unity bug :(

Thanks again for playing!

@talisra22 Hi. I just noticed your comment, and, if you have some time, it would be awesome if you could provide me with some feedback about the game. What did you like and what didn't you like? I would appreciate your opinion!

Crosstalk by shinyogre 2017-12-06T03:52:14Z

Kind of relaxing, which is weird given that it's based on noise!

What if this could be turned into an app to help people to sleep? I know that some apps play noise to enhance sleeping; not sure if providing a bit of relaxing activity could somehow be beneficial.

Running With Scissors by Daze 2017-12-08T00:32:23Z

This is a great game! I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Really, awesome job!

Running With Scissors by Daze 2017-12-08T12:58:30Z

@Brainoid That's true. I also had trouble with that while watching the stream, but I also think that's probably because I wasn't looking in the first rounds. When I played the game, it was way more clear, as you see the increase in the amount of girls running as you play (but, then again, I already knew they were ghosts, so...).

POKED - be social by Faktori 2017-12-06T22:25:24Z

Super cool game! Not too much to say other than that! Everything is great, and the game is super innovative!

I got a weird bug that froze the game a couple of times. Also, after seeing an ending, the game froze in a black screen (but I could hear button sounds).

I got the "Proud mom" and the "Horse" ending. I tried to get others but the bug made it difficult. Maybe after rating other entries I'll try again!

The Ol' Flower Shop by Arvejeitor 2017-12-22T16:24:20Z

¡Buena suerte!

To the other side by cosarara 2017-12-14T22:20:56Z

Congratulations on finishing the jam!

I agree that the difficulty is a bit high. It's not impossible, but dying after having two crystals and having to start over isn't challenging but somehow frustrating.

I think that the simpler solution for this would be to give the player one or two lives before Game Over. Perhaps a Difficulty selector with Easy, Medium and Hard more.

Greedy Merchants by jlreymendez 2017-12-22T15:57:47Z

No sé si me explico bien.

Tiny Empires by Jack Maxwell 2017-12-12T12:19:22Z

Cool entry. Of course, it's similar to Catan, so you'll probably need to use another theme if you want to get you game far :) Vainilla Catan doesn't have pirates, castles or banks. Are those your ideas?

Anyway, here's my tiny empire: Empire.png

Now, here are the things I think you may improve: - At first, the game is difficult (maybe a bit too difficult) because you get attacked by a horde of pirates and you don't have a castle or enough resources to build it. Afterwards, however, it gets too easy, as a single castle easily overpowers pirates, and pirates don't arrive in waves anymore. - The game needs to make more pressure on players before they change turns. After some point, I could simply click "end turn" as crazy to get resources, with no consequence, as I'm well defended. - The game needs an objective. Be it to achieve certain score or empire size, or to survive pirate waves for certain amount of turns, or to see how many turns can you survive. Right now, it's more a sandbox than a game.

That's it. Good luck!

Tiny Empires by Jack Maxwell 2017-12-12T23:19:11Z

@jack-maxwell Well, those are some cool additions to the game. Good luck with your fixes and improvements!

Shape Invasion by RonanRory 2017-12-04T18:39:37Z

First of all: congratulations on finishing the jam. I know that it's not easy to work with in such a small time, and that it's not easy to make music if you don't have experience with it.

My two cents: I think that the game would be a lot better with a better pacing. Right now, it gets repetitive too quickly, and I think that's because there is no sense of challenge. Maybe if the shapes spawned faster, the room was smaller and/or you got damage when touching shapes, the challenge would be greater and the game would be more exciting. I only played for some minutes, so If something like that already happens after some time playing, sorry, my bad.

ICTOAN by devsaur 2017-12-12T21:02:44Z

The game is interesting and the puzzles are cool. However, I think that the appearing/disappearing is hard to grasp, and sometimes it's very confusing. Also, sometimes, the behavior of some of the elements wasn't that clear to me.

I think that with some polishing, the game can be made way more clear and enjoyable.

The graphics are obviously good-looking, but I don't really know if they are necessary. What I mean with this is you can remake the game with simpler graphics (decreasing the huge file size in the process!) and make it as fun as it's right now (or even more fun!).

I do think that this entry may be worked into a full game, as the concept is appealing. The thing is that some of the mechanics (like the disappearing) may need some reworking.

Bloody Pop-ups! by CSdoesCS 2017-12-10T05:17:59Z

85!

This are some seriously insane graphics! I'm really amazed with them!

The game is simple, but it works. My main suggestion is to make the score way more visible. At first, I though there wasn't an actual objective to reach.

Monster Madness by Exploding Bits 2017-12-10T05:31:34Z

This is a totally under-reviewed game. After I actually took the time to read the instructions and understand it, it became a quite cool experience.

Good job on the mechanics and the awesome graphics!

Summon the Phoenix by giraffesareburning 2020-04-22T02:30:10Z

This was SUPER hard, but I finally managed to hatch the phoenix and was granted a long life :)

Good job on finishing the project. I think it's a very good result for someone new to programming (and actually, it's a good result overall). Also, I really, really liked that you played the music yourself.

Good luck, and keep making games!

P.S.: As a suggestion, it would be great if you could upload a standalone .exe file that doesn't require installation. A lot of people dislike installing stuff, and you may get fewer reviews because of that.
