This gave me a good laugh, even though I think it's for the wrong reasons. The enemy AI is very basic; just turning around and shooting at you occasionally. But, eh, it's okay.

sirikan 2017-12-04 04:05

Yeah i broke the movment code and ran out of time to fix it :(. That and adding more guns.

ronanrory 2017-12-04 04:51

Oh, sorry about that :(

sirikan 2017-12-04 05:52

It happens :). I had fun still so that is the main thing right :)

shelvid 2017-12-04 11:04

10/10 Better than Wolfenstein3D. You could make bullets faster, spawned from center, a bit big and brighter, you could also add more bass to the shooting sound, would feel better :)

acamara 2017-12-05 13:18

Remind me of Wolfenstein 3D hehe I was expected more guns, maybe I missed a secret?

Congratulations on finishing the jam! While the game currently looks incomplete (those darned 48 hours!), it can be worked further and turned into something quite good.

You already know that the enemies could be more aggressive (also, there could be more of them). I may add that some of the sounds are underwhelming. For example, the shooting sound is missing power.

Good luck!

Footstep/jumping sounds were great, bullets were comically small. I liked the premise of the game, it almost had my attention until I had to walk down enormous hallways with nothing to do. With that said, could use some work.

Very funny game! In some point I got frustrated running along those long corridors. Maybe you should just downscale the levels in xy-direction? Well, that would ruin your doors and other stuff, so maybe remaking the levels is not that trivial at all. However, good job, I enjoyed a lot playing your game!

I love FPS, good Job: 3 Levels, Endboss, different enemy types... Good game, sad that time ran out for enemy movement.

fun little shooter :) i got the blue key card! i don't really get how it relates to the theme, though. maybe i'm missing something. otherwise well done!

professor 2017-12-06 01:09

This is a fun little game. As others have said, the AI is kind of basic, but I found it added humor to the game. Good work on the melee voiceovers :).

sirikan 2017-12-06 03:22

@Professor thanks. Wife gave me weird looks when I was making those Sfx hehe.

gassasin 2017-12-09 00:47

nice shooter. Try fixing the aimimg and add some hit indicator i think:) great job!

linky439 2017-12-09 10:13

Great job in making the deadline!

Like others, I didn't really get how it relates to the theme, unfortunately. There are other problems other people already pointed out (AI that you didn't have time to fix, the levels are too big and too empty, and it's hard to aim correctly as the bullet is super small and you actually shoot at the right of the crosshair). I did like the art-style though. (I also ended up spotting a flying plate in the first level ^^) Overall, good job for the effort, it isn't easy to make a 3D game in such a short span of time. I'm pretty sure that with some post-jam work, you could make a fun little game out of this project! Keep up the good work! :)

**Pros:** Hilarious sound effects and graphics.

**Cons:** Rooms were too big and empty. Enemies were too easy.

The game had a classic 'Wolfenstein' feel like others mentioned. The way the bullets flew and enemies died was great, gave me a chuckle.

mrphil 2017-12-11 06:10

Good job. Reminded me of 30 Flights of Loving, probably the square heads. It's was awesome I could shoot from very far and take them out like a sniper. I did get a little confused a couple times about which way I going and circled back on myself, hall decorations weren't different enough I think.

zinkler 2017-12-11 08:59

What about the theme? Couldn't make any connections to it, except for the obvious fact that the more the enemies, the harder it's supposed to be (it's not since they shoot each other).

sirikan 2017-12-11 22:31

Yeah no connection to the theme sorry. I forgot to remove that entry from ratings :). Was 4 in the morning when I posted it :).

icylava 2017-12-12 20:29

You didn't mention you can run with shift. Fortunately I found that out pretty quick. Like others have mentioned, the AI isn't great, I just started meleeing everyone after not too long. I did really like this though!

cerno-b 2017-12-18 09:12

You have all the basic mechanics of a FPS down, congratulations. I especially liked the Doom-like end-of-level switches and that you actually added a boss. Using voice work was a nice touch. I also thought the level was neat, if a bit repetitive.

I would suggest you keep working on it to find out how to make it more fun to play. Of course enemy ai would be a huge improvement, but there are a lot minor things you can improve that are fairly easy to achieve.

First of all, I would recommend this video to you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U

I know, it's about 2D platformers but a lot of information applies to any action genre really.

Concretely, I would suggest you work on the flow of the game. Try increasing your fire rate and see if that makes your game more fun. Then of course do the same for your enemies to see if it forces the player to be on their toes more. Maybe make the player move faster as well. Make the moment of attack of your enemies more random and give a clearer indication when they fire (e.g. muzzle flash). Maybe have the tougher enemies take more than one hit and give an indication when they are hit. Maybe you can distinguish them besides the visuals, like giving them different weapons or attack patterns. Make the bullets travel much faster (make them hit almost instantaneously). I also think the player bullets may need some more accuracy, sometimes I had trouble hitting the already stationary enemies.

I didn't think I saw the theme incorporated in your game except for that there was an increasing amount of enemies.

Sound effects were nice, but the voice work could have used some balancing so all the sounds have a proper volume (steps a bit quieter, enemy voices/shots a bit louder, etc).

For a 48 hour game it was not bad, and I am sure with some practice you can create something so much better next time.
