I just realised you have a link to the Ludum Dare Site, haha. I will have to check to see more games here, anyone curious to see the game this link is below, I found it most entertaining.

Hey, I played your game and i found a little bug. In the temple I walked down to the bottom of the window and my figure disappeared and never come back :( so I sadly don't finished it. But I saw the let's play. The graphics and the sound are really cool! The switches between the scenes are a little bit strange especially with the control. The dialogs are good. Overall a good game. I like it.

pschichtel 2017-05-01 15:43

A Linux and/or Web version of your game would be nice!

fernandoadolfo 2017-05-01 15:54

Nice adventure game and nice story. Would be hard to make that decision. Graphics and sound are good too. Really nice job. Could be nice to have more of this.

jungle 2017-05-01 16:20

Nice entry, keep the job on. Congratulations.

chronosv2 2017-05-01 16:42

This game is absolutely gorgeous. While I'm not normally one for adventure games, this was genuinely impressive. The graphics and music were great, and the concept is overall really well done. My biggest complaint is that the items don't highlight if they're interactable when you get close. Keep up the great work!

lugdumdare-team 2017-05-01 16:45

Awesome graphics and style. The gameplay is not my kind of game but the story, characters and ambiance are really cool. Very goog job :)

zelos 2017-05-01 16:51

The graphics are absolutely fantastic. I would absolutely love a full game that looks like this. The music is also very atmospheric and goes perfectly with the graphics. I had a bit of trouble locating the interactables in the environment, but the gameplay itself is quite good. Really nice entry.

swiftillusion 2017-05-01 17:04

The atmosphere was certainly enthralling and the dialog was engaging enough, but I felt it suffered too many of the same problems as the games it seemed to take inspiration from.

|+ Atmosphere was really great and the initial premise and world building immediately grabbed you. |+ The art and overall design of the environment/characters really was great. |+ The Dialog pulled you along well even if it lacked a satisfying ending.

|- The transitions between scenes were awkward to find/accidentally discover. |- The gameplay involving trying to find objects amounted to me hitting spacebar as I walked around the environment hoping to randomly find them, as when I accidentally found the first one I couldn't even tell I had and the following 2 items I still couldn't recognize prior to randomly discovering them.

Though it grabbed my attention at first I regrettably hoped to reach the conclusion of it quickly as it felt like an uncomfortably awkward point and click adventure. However still the overall atmosphere and world presented was enjoyable to be a part of and interact with, great work :)!

kappaix 2017-05-01 17:08

Really liked it, great looking, nice sounds and great atmosphere. It was sometimes difficult to work out where I could go - but I managed to finish it.

Well done! Thanks a lot for sharing!

ididgame 2017-05-01 17:18

Very cool entry

Graphics and Sound come together to create a really nice mood. Both background and 3d graphics were nice by themselves, i just wish they would combine a bit better. While playing i got the feeling that there is a lot more to this little world which i feel is a real achievement for a gamejam game. It does have the same kind of scene transition problems i had when playing games like grim fandango. (where can i go? where am i now? is this walkable?)

PS: FYI theres a crash when pressing b on a controller

lugdumdare-team 2017-05-01 17:23

Nice adventure game. I really like the aesthetic of the game and the global mood you put in the story. Graphics are really impressive for a game jam.

Sometimes borders and camera changes are very confusing. Sometimes I felt like I lost my character.

Anyway great entry :)

urbanhelsing 2017-05-01 17:24

For a LD game, wow. My only complaint is that the transitions between scenes were a bit confusing.

holgk 2017-05-01 17:27

Graphics and sounds are creating a nice atmosphere. But i have to agree with @swiftillusion sometimes it's hard to see where are objects and where it's just the background.

chaseplays 2017-05-01 17:35

You created such a compelling world and story, that it's hard not to love this game. The choice at the end hit me hard, and that's proof that the world that you created had enough thought and detail put into it, that it was evident throughout the entire experience. The eerie music and sound effects were great, and the art was too (I loved the painted aesthetic of the backgrounds).

I only have 2 complaints: Sometimes, the player felt a bit slow, which wasn't a major problem, but still noticeable. Also, the jump between different "areas" felt a bit too sudden, which messed with the controls a bit.

Overall, thank you for making such a great experience. I truly enjoyed the world that you created, which was brilliantly paired with great art and sound effects. Great job!

jushiip 2017-05-01 17:36

The best thing about this game imo was definitely the mood. It pulls you in straight away. The music is spot on with the game's atmosphere - reminds me a bit of Machinarium.

Very good entry! I wish I could see the consequences in the ending. :)

Oh and I almost forgot, the backgrounds are gorgeous!

vidinu 2017-05-01 18:25

Well done. I like your complex world and story with a nice atmosphere. Graphics and sound are really impressive for a game jam. This is not my kind of game but was really impressed when i played it. I only see a problem, the movement feel a bit slowly when he is walking.

spaceman 2017-05-01 20:25

I really loved the watercolor art style! It's really impressive that you finished this in only 72 hours. Like the others, I think the scene transitions could use a little work. I also swear that the yellow pig was off-screen.

palemachine 2017-05-01 20:44

Incredibly atmospheric ambient music that reminds me of Stars of the Lid, great art style (and the usage of 3d models against 2d backgrounds is so lovely and reminds me of old games in a good way) and despite a few typos here and there the writing is very captivating and the ambiguity of the ending makes it even more enjoyable. If there's really anything that needed some further work, maybe it's collider placement. For one, sometimes the colliders don't correspond to the scenery very well, so you might walk a bit on top of things you're not supposed to walk on. I was also able to go from one area to another without triggering camera movement, which I don't think was intentional. Doesn't matter all that much, really, since it doesn't detract from the experience. Great entry.

brainy-beard 2017-05-02 08:58

Interesting game, really beautiful and love the 3D on the 2D background. Character does feel a bit sluggish at times though. Impressive work.

turbo-hermit 2017-05-02 11:30

The art and atmosphere are great! Gameplay is a bit slow for my taste.

eldan-knight 2017-05-02 16:19

Great atmosphere, grafics and narrative! I love it! :D

mutfak-studios 2017-05-02 17:52

Everything except camera angles and controls are great in this game. The world you have created is just hooked me in, its brilliant. It doesn't have much puzzles and that kills the gameplay element but the story is somewhat hearth touching. I think this game promising a lot if you add more content and release on consoles or steam.

sondrian 2017-05-03 01:28

That was the best story telling that I've seen so far in this jam. Well done!

radmccool 2017-05-03 03:37

nothing new to add regards feedback... Have to say though, i enjoyed playing this one. The atmosphere was well done and theres a clear style to it that i thought looked cool. Good job, all of you!

teekeks 2017-05-03 12:17

Visually impressive game! I am not that much of a fan of story telling games (besides Life is Strange, that game is somehow different in my mind) but this one was so nice that it kept me going for a while. Well executed!

ana-clara-guimaraes 2017-05-03 12:35

The visuals to this game is simply amazing! It's nice and well thought. Doing that in 72 hours is impressive. Great game!

gustavo-christino 2017-05-03 14:54

Great visual. I liked the story (could not just take them with us?)...

Tip: The soundtrack is nice, but could be improved, the loop could demand more time.

rick 2017-05-03 17:01

Sorry, I have a Mac, can't play your game. Let me know if you're able to port it to Mac or web. I'll make sure to give it a go!

dgspitzer 2017-05-03 18:09

Wow! Overall 5 stars. Really beautiful art style and music. Enjoyed the story through the game. Awesome! I think I'll choose to leave in the end (to save my partner). At least there is hope outside, perhaps...

themadstrauss 2017-05-03 18:21

Yeah! Great job! I felt like playing Broken Age. I like so much that everything fits and you play like you always do. Cool, cool, cool.

korvyashka 2017-05-03 19:29

Great game. Finished, but don't want to do spoilers, as the story is pretty interesting and atmospheric. Stacked couple of times in colliders outside of the camera, but that is a small thing.

frederika 2017-05-03 19:48

Great story and the art is amazing. It was a little hard to figure out where I was supposed to go and it seemed like I could wander off the screen entirely in some places, but otherwise really good.

jod 2017-05-03 20:03

Great atmosphere, loved it! The artwork is gorgeous, I couldn't quite believe someone modelled that for a Ludum Dare game! Cool puzzle, finding the pigs :). I actually think the 'hasty' backgrounds work very well for giving a dream-like, surreal atmosphere! Very cool, would play more!

devastus 2017-05-03 20:14

I was really pleasantly surprised. The game sports very stylish visuals and a fitting ambient soundtrack to it. Built a really strong atmosphere around the storyline. You certainly didn't pull any punches with the PlayStation 1-esque aesthetics, though I thank you for not doing tank controls :P

Now, it's a short story that is actually missing its ending which is a shame. How you don't get to make the important choice and see the results is a letdown, but you were able to create a thick enough atmosphere to make the ending actually feel important, so props to that!

It's also missing a bit in the gameplay category which you could remedy with some puzzles. Also, having a part of a puzzle solution be in a virtually unseeable place is _**bad**_, please don't do that again :P Something to think about if you decide to take this story to its end, which I certainly wouldn't mind seeing.

Overall an impressive feat. Very well done!

masterkrepta 2017-05-03 23:37

I very rairly find myself finishing Narrative based Ludum Dare games, but this one intregued me. I found my self repeatedly guessing what direction things would be going as i hunted for the 3 pigs. I loved the hand painted look to the backgrounds

occultone 2017-05-04 00:57

I Played this on Livestream Today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_6NTcovuI0

This has probably the best graphics I've seen all jam, really astounding work. I will be coming back to this game when I do my "Best of".

spiteful-fox 2017-05-04 03:15

This was a great game, but sad. :(

grasswhopper 2017-05-04 07:06

A very neat game, with a good concept. i must say, graphics are just spot on, with the sounds of the game. i did manage to complete the game. it was a nice and fun ride. i myself am trying to create a point and click adventure so, this was a really good research material for me. thanks a lot.

the only issue i had with the game is, that, the "collectibles" do not really stand out from the background elements, nor do the characters. making it hard to see them. besides that, atmosphere is spot on, story is neat. the game is great overall. really well done for you and your team.

ethereal-psyche-games 2017-05-04 16:10

+I love the background style, it's unique and the music perfectly accompanies the atmosphere of the game.

-The protagonist is a bit slow maybe, and the camera changes are confusing.

But overall it's a great entry.

.

Bug1: Screen Resolution vs background:

https://i.gyazo.com/708bc9b6b0fb34076915635c448b1840.jpg

Bug2: I do not know if you have optimized it to play with gamepad, but when opening the inventory it closes the whole game ...

athomicus 2017-05-04 20:24

Impressive nice job style and graphics - thx for good game unfortunatelly I want more it's short i know no time for ld games :) gj

fran-segura 2017-05-04 22:05

Loved the art style and atmosphere, impressive considering the time limit. I would play a longer version.

Good job!

anudin 2017-05-04 22:33

Negative stuff first: you should not be able to move while in a dialog - or at least end the dialog when you walk away. Otherwise you walk around with that dialog box until you clicked it away (a good solution would be to make the dialog disappear when out of range and make the character walk slower while in this range to indicate that he's about to leave the dialog). Also somewhere around the angry one someone said "He needs to chill! [...]" - that sentence did not really fit in the spot - at least to me.

Okaaaay... Now the good stuff! The art style is really cool. That concept art style blended in seamlessly with the 3D models - great job here. Of course the animations should also be praised, awesome! Next, the sounds were pretty incredible too - aswell as the writing of all the characters. All in all the game looks and feels really cool and wouldn't it be for the sometimes strange feeling camera turns and bumping into walls (maybe some indicator would be cool for areas you can't walk) and the above mentioned points - the game would be perfect to me. And yes I know my critique is very nitpicky for such an ambitious entry but I figured since you seem pretty professional with developing games you could also do with some constructive criticism! I'm looking forward to your next entry :)

Edit: Just remembered one more negative thing before I'm out of here - sorry. If you could find a way for cooler quests instead of search my three pigs - that would add alot.

Edit 2: Just realised I use the word 'cool' way too much. My apologies, english is not my first language.

funkensteins-monster 2017-05-05 03:56

I like a lot about this but negative stuff first - The camera transitions are really jarring at certain points and you can walk out of areas without the camera following you. The gameplay is a bit too "fetch quest" for me as well. The story, art, and mood are incredible. I'm disappointed that I didn't actually get to make the choice at the end. The water color look is fantastic. You should expand on this. I want to see an ending!

baby-dino-herd 2017-05-05 05:00

The graphics, atmosphere, environment, and worldbuilding are all top-notch here, quite excellent. I did find it a little frustrating sometimes navigating through the camera angles at a somewhat slow speed. One of the more memorable games I've played this jam.

pkenney 2017-05-05 05:35

Beautiful mood with the art, the wonderful music and the sound effects! It really sets the tone for the story, which I enjoyed at the end.

I'm not a huge fan of fetch-quest type gameplay, and I thought the main character moved a little too slow for the searching required. But the game was short enough that this wasn't a bother - so it was the right length!

The townsfolk provided some nice backdrop for the decision at the end.

Strong entry, and very unique!

adamd 2017-05-05 08:35

This is most definitely an ambitious game for 72 hours! Good job you had 3 excellent artists on board. The comments are already full of praise for the audio, mood and the art, and yes it most certainly is fantastic especially given the time limits. It is the design of everything and the detail that you've put into the world that grabs me.

In terms of controls, Grim Fandango is one of my favourite games so I'm certainly accustomed to direct control methods in adventure games. There is the classic problem of the controls getting flipped when you enter certain locations, such as getting the yellow pig and when you enter the Sky Speaker temple. It's a minor thing though.

In terms of criticism, it's just small issues such as the flipping of controls, and a few small spelling/grammar mistakes to be cleaned up. I love adventure games like this, with the creativity of the setting and character design.

I hit a couple of bugs that I'm noting if you're interested in working on the game more (won't affect my ratings): - If you select the credits screen, then select the instructions screen, the credits are displayed. If you go straight to the instructions screen first then you can see the instructions fine. - After calming the angry discarded temporarily, I went and spoke to the other discarded. When speaking to one of them (the furtherest on the left, in the screen with the angry discarded) it went into a dialogue loop that I couldn't seem to break out of.

Overall, I love this and am amazed by the amount of work that you've put into this. Stunning stuff.

smiling-cat-entertainment 2017-05-08 23:46

I loved the art style, especially the abstractness in the backgrounds. The music really complemented nicely and really brought out the mood of the game.

Trying to do the scene transition to get the yellow pig was a bit finicky, but I managed. That was the only flaw I ran into in this otherwise good story.

I loved where it left off - leave the player to imagine their own ending.

Great job!

cremmy 2017-05-09 18:49

Graphics are nice, really nice. Background images fit nicely with them, but... Well, steering and camera movement make this game difficult to play. I had no idea where i could go, and a few times i found myself in places where I didn't expect I could go. It's more of a "find object hidden offscreen" than adventure game.

pit 2017-05-12 17:18

Awesome entry. Graphics are aspecially good. Really well designed world, cool characters and mood. Great, fitting audio. Neat dialogues and plot. But that pig quest ... it was really frustrating. It felt like you didnt thought through the level design. Overall very good entry

aaranos 2017-05-14 02:22

Very beautiful game. There is a bit of depth to the story even with just the few lines. I felt a bit robbed with the ending though.

In terms of actual engagement I found myself wanting to know more about the area, the idol, and the denizens of the Dump. One issue I did have was the way the camera system works made it a little difficult to get around. It was actually funny a few times because I'd run off the screen and then come back with my face mashed against the camera going the other way.

philomory 2017-05-16 04:48

This is probably the nicest looking game in the entire Jam, at least that I have encountered. However, the nice looks came at a price, it seems, because it can be hard to tell where it is possible to walk and where it is not. The changing camera angles on the same scene didn't really help, either.

Other than that, though, it's hard to find anything to complain about here. The story is good, the graphics are good, the music is good, the fetch quest is not too bad (which is praise, for a fetch quest :stuck_out_tongue:), it fits the theme well. Great job.

In a way, I'm glad you don't have to make the final choice, because I suspect what I view as the 'correct' answer would not be an option: take the Discarded with you in your ship!

joemid 2017-05-16 14:07

I mean, this reminds me- especially in art- of Broken Age. Amazing what you accomplished in such little time! Wondering if you used the Adventure Game template for Unity? Can't help but recommend Visionaire Studio- ;D (Though I only use it for 2d and don't know how difficult it really is for 3d characters.

Anyway, I was really impressed! It seemed like you focused mostly on one solid puzzle- the pigs, and that was really well done. A good little scavenge! Totally thought the Idol would suggest a third option- taking the Discarded with- played through again to see if I could trigger this.

Great job! Hope to revisit this small world again, soon!

nilead 2017-05-16 19:40

Thanks for all your feedback, it's much apreciated! No, we didn't use any templates, it's done from scratch using Playmaker for flow options and Fungus to help with the dialog system.

2017-05-25 12:56

Super unique game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo0eF_2kFRY
