LD38 — A Small World

The Seesaw Redemption by Headmade 2017-05-02T02:17:18Z

I have found the secrets of flight by way of the "G" shaped hampster wheel. This was a fun little game. I enjoyed the exploration aspect quite a bit. Nice entry. The falling was a little too floaty though, person increase the fall speed to improve the control feel.

a very small planet. by PixelFormedStudios 2017-05-02T03:01:17Z

I found an exploit. I was able to start off by purchasing two trees and a worker, putting my exp into the negative by buying a tree, selecting a second one, mousing over the planet, and then instead of clicking to place it, selecting a worker. A fun game though!

Nocturne by Awpteamoose 2017-05-02T02:25:02Z

I was upset that I couldn't fall off the rock or jump on the bed. It also didn't make sense that I couldn't walk through the open spaces with doors next to them. The game had a nice atmosphere but I wasn't really sure what I was doing.

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-05-03T01:01:33Z

MY WORLD IS BECOME CONSUMER OF ALL WORLDS!!!!!! Honestly, I had a population of ~300,000 billion. Great game!

Little Remains by nilead 2017-05-03T01:28:26Z

That was the best story telling that I've seen so far in this jam. Well done!

Food Fight by Scornz 2017-05-02T04:26:29Z

In one instance I fell on top of the bread and was safe from the enemy, but also unable to progress. On another, I was crushed to death by the falling tomato juice. Bug or feature? Game was fun, took me way back to the n-64 days with the army men games.

Get Off My Land! by cdp_games 2017-05-02T03:46:39Z

I would recommend an upper cap on how many npc's the game should support. It didn't work out very well for me when I summoned 100 npcs. I would also recommend that you simply gobble up gold nuggets instead of having to pick them up one at a time. It would increase the pace of the game and, in my opinion, greatly increase the fun.

Invaders of Yekithar by skippuku 2017-05-03T00:49:41Z

My only complaint is that up or space didn't jump. For me, those pathways are so hardwired into my nervous system that jumping with x was almost impossible. Still, the game felt great, had some nice feedback and a good balance for the weight of the sound effects to the music to general volume of other applications (AKA you didn't cause my ears to bleed) and for that, I thank you. A really cool entry, I just wish I was more coordinated and could play it better. It had that cool retro feel like CaveStory. Bravo!

Planet or Die! by Silas Reinagel 2017-05-02T01:26:49Z

A really fun experience. I was laughing my butt off on some of those statements. Great entry!

Rock my Ship by Hethsin 2017-05-03T01:58:57Z

A fun little game. I would suggest that the building aspect to be explained a bit more. I knew that I could make a stack of metal but I wasn't too sure how to use that to make the game any easier for me. Overall, I liked it.

Giant Friend by fixedgerald 2017-05-03T01:35:22Z

So am I supposed to step on everything...or not step on everything. Because I stepped on everything. Great game. I enjoyed it a lot.

Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-03T00:42:57Z

I found the concept to be really cool, but the controls were a bit too difficult. It was rather challenging to position my cube in the right place to make a particular jump and ended up falling off the block if I left the flat part of the platform (something to do with edge detection I imagine). Overall, I think its a really cool idea, but the controls need to be a bit more forgiving. Nice job!

Tribes of the Turtleland by ArtKurkowski 2017-05-02T04:06:52Z

All that matters is sword power. Their numbers can't defeat you if you can push almost an eight of the island with the placement of one tribesman. Great game, now I feel like a monster for pushing those poor blue guys off the edge like that....almost; Its my turtle, gettoff.

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-05-03T01:51:57Z

Well done! I really liked this game, great feedback, everything makes sense and feels right. I do have one gripe though, I didn't really like the overheating feature on the gun. I understand that it does sort of make sense to strategize with ammo usage but the player's damage output wasn't really very good to begin with and being gated by a cool-down hurt the game more than it helped in my opinion.

LD39 — Running out of Power

King of Mithril by wan 2017-08-06T03:02:43Z

In terms of gameplay, this has been my favorite game in LD39. It was really cool to have to sneak around to turn off the power and then take on the goblins with mighty pickaxes of the dwarves once they were vulnerable. I wished that there was more sneaking and strategy to that but in general it was really fun. One weakness was that it was hard to tell how much health you had or if you would die to a single hit. I didn't want to take the chance so there was a lot of mashing attack and then running away; basically all enemies were slain with kiting strategies. The player character felt so damn powerful, it was really rewarding to just round around and wreck the goblins' day. Great entry!

Captain Pixel Vs The Round Invaders by Junber 2017-08-08T01:56:35Z

Thematically I really liked this game, but the execution left some things that I think could be improved. The character just didn't feel up the challenge of the enemies, his movement was too slow and his means of attack too limited. It was really difficult to feel like anything other than a helpless seal through most of it. Enemies were relentless and unpredictable. They had a lot of health and were extremely hard to attack. Basically, the level of challenge was too high too quickly. Since the player kept losing powers but the difficulty of the game objectively kept getting harder, it made those leaps in challenge a lot larger. I didn't finish the game, I tried to beat it twice and after I died I gave up.

Good entry, but it was too difficult for the abilities of the character. That all said, the angel bringing you a shotgun is the most Duke Nuke'em thing I've seen in a long time. Nice touch!

Inferno by Megalink 2017-08-06T02:10:01Z

Its (d)Raining Blood! Great entry! I had a lot of fun with this. It was a fresh take on the arena style arcade. Rewarding the player with healing if they can keep killing enough enemies is good, but there aren't a whole lot of effective ways to achieve this in the later levels. Enemies just have too much health for a blood bath. I would suggest more enemies with less HP. Love that music too. It basically makes the game for me; Jackass did a good job!

Fart Squirrel by Pandakipu 2017-08-08T01:32:24Z

Me by the end of the game -"FOOL! THIS IS ONLY 10% of my gastronomic POWER!"

This was a really fun entry. I found an exploit in picking up power ups and then dying. The game never removed the gained powerups so I could amass an infinite amount of power.

p o w e r ARM by xand 2017-08-01T05:17:58Z

Well done! I feel strong feelings against that guy in the purple shirt.

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-01T05:32:27Z

Lot of fun! I enjoyed playing it. two words: Sexy. Pixel. Explosions. Just needed some background music and it would be five stars. Well done!

No Sign Of Life by silkworm_sweatshop 2017-08-06T02:25:26Z

That was a lot of fun. I was rather upset that I couldn't save the other guy though. Maybe that was a failure on my part but I felt bad leaving him to die. One really great feature of this game was the way that you could beat the game easily if you just didn't feel those pesky HUMAN emotions, but it almost killed you to do those things that you wanted to do; like tell your family that you love them. The humanity of the game is what really sells it for me. A great entry. Thank you for making it.

Glow by benmcnelly 2017-08-01T04:03:12Z

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I wasn't able to run this game. The screen was black with strange lighting effect artifacts. I wasn't able to play it.

Aphelion by vulpineblazeyt 2017-08-06T02:48:05Z

Funky beats is where its at.

I liked this game a lot. It was really chill at first and offers an interesting play style that sort of evolves as things come at you faster and faster. Enemies and obstacles becoming sources for power as well as drainages on your power was really clever. The challenge of the game comes in trying to watch everything all at once and use the absorption beam as little as possible and keeping power levels in the green. Well done!

Alienation by Robber 2017-08-01T04:42:19Z

Nice job!

Light-Eater by prettylucky 2017-08-06T02:32:22Z

I think that you have an interesting idea here. I played the game using a drawing tablet and that made it a lot easier. I think that the game part is what is missing though. I couldn't help but think that it would be really neat and challenging if you had to cover up the lights before they scrolled off the screen. Still it was pretty neat. I think you almost invented a new kind of game :p. Its a shame you didn't have time to add audio, but I know how it goes.

Energizing Mini Quest by hoogmin 2017-08-01T03:53:59Z

A solid entry. I've never been a battery that dared the dangers of crushing spikes before. Serious though, it was a fun game, short as it was, it kept to the theme. Well done.

Manual Mech by Mikeliosus 2017-08-06T03:16:17Z

That was really interesting. Almost impossible to control, but a really cool idea. Would make a great co-op sort of game, like guns of icarus or something like that. I couldn't control the poor mech for love or money, but I had a good time exploding. Nice job, I don't think you've seen the end of the ideas potential just yet.

Depths of Oceania by cnoble 2017-08-01T04:13:46Z

You did a great job of creating a mood and a sense of place. I would have liked to see more responsive gameplay mechanics, but over it was nice. It was hard to tell what the weapon was or when/if it was hurting the enemy. I did pretty well until I got to the bottom, once down wasn't an option anymore, I wasn't sure what to do except to die by the shark. Great job on that shark as well. It was pretty awesome. Well done!

Möbius Trap by RedNW 2017-08-01T03:45:10Z

A solid entry. The control mechanics were actually rather interesting although they were a little bit complicated to get the hang of. Wonky I might call them. Unconventional, but with a very very high skill ceiling. i would have liked to see more feedback both in audio and in visual cues. Overall, welldone, especially for your first venture into game design as a team. Cheers!

Cat Herder - THE CATPOCALYPSE by Meanderthal 2017-08-08T01:17:38Z

Meow that was a CATastrophe!

Planet Wars: Energy Crisis by zaygellard 2017-08-06T03:26:35Z

I think I speak for most of the community when I say that there is little in this world more needed than the chance to beat a planet with another planet on the end of a chain. Nice entry. The controls were a little bit difficult to well, control, but it had controller support and that helped a lot. Thanks for posting!

Office Wars by Lumous 2017-08-08T02:02:12Z

So I just pinned two of the enemy bots against a wall and watched my team win by virtue of having more programmers. Can't lose if I have more active bots.

Energy Raid by -FL- 2017-08-06T02:41:39Z

A solid entry for the most part. The shooting mechanic was a little unrewarding but some of those enemy bullets were extremely cool. Overall, it was pretty good.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Almost free by Listonos 2019-05-01T23:36:19Z

I wanted all the powerups though! Nice game guys. I thought that the finality of decisions was a nice touch, no going back once you chose to buy an upgrade. My issue with the game came mostly from the controls so I won't belabor the point. Basically as a WASD boi it is really hard to get a good sense of control from arrow keys. You provided both which is lovely but only x and z for actions. This meant that I had to play with the arrow keys (which I'm bad at) or to stop moving to attack. My suggestion would be to add some alternative keys like j and k for those of us who play WASD. Great entry none the less!

Lifelust by MateusBoga 2019-05-01T23:58:10Z

That was a lot of fun honestly. I will never truly understand why building up a number to spend at the next rest to make my abilities more powerful is so enjoyable, but it is. Great game!

Leap by Adam Elaoud 2019-04-30T03:43:43Z

I was surprised at how fun that was. I also felt like the game was mocking me by making the first jump impossible on every level. Even so it was good time. The artwork was simple but stylish and reminded me of playing Super Mario All-Stars as a kid. Nice job!

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-04-30T03:55:07Z

Simple puzzle platformer but it works. I enjoyed playing quite a lot. I got stuck with the button and the switch. Great entry!

Bloom by Fadex 2019-05-01T00:07:06Z

RIP my bean! I've never had to worry about being crushed by skyscrapers before. The game was quite interesting. I found the controls to be a little to sluggish relative to what was being asked of me in terms of evasion near the end. The audio was also mixed pretty loudly but the overall experience was quite nice. Great entry well done!

The Trials of Marzbān by RyanJavanshir 2019-05-02T00:11:17Z

I got near the fire and suddenly I was in hell. After everything changed the game never went back to normal. Great atmosphere though, just kind of bone-chilling.

Force of Nature by Griddolini 2019-04-30T04:07:13Z

Took a little bit to get started but it was fun. Combat is a little clunky/unreliable but overall the experience is fun. Nice work!

Cat# by Omickron 2019-05-02T00:23:25Z

A fun idea but I found myself doing in a single hit no matter what I did. It was an interesting mechanic to have to decide how much health I got to have versus how powerful my abilities though. Nice entry overall though!

The Oarsman by SefrZ 2019-05-01T00:28:38Z

Dash also works for up, once I figured that out I figured out that the game is tough. Really well done. Everything felt cohesive and stylish. The character was a little too floaty for me though, by that I mean he was hard to control due to how fast he was and how much he would move per key stroke. Overall, one of the best I've played so far. Nice work!

Mr. Mage and the Bag of Coins by Enjoy The Tale 2019-04-30T04:15:59Z

Great music. The artwork is nice too. I would have liked to get further through this game but I couldn't get over the spikes. Nice entry regardless!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Demon Trials by saucygames 2018-04-25T02:06:57Z

Nice idea but I have 3 things that I have an issue with. 1. The blood restore items restore too little blood to be viable as well as being hard to hit. I would recommend putting a circle around them that shows where the pickup area is, that way I know for sure that I am not going to waste the blood getting there. 2. I fell out of the world into the void and had to spin my wheels to death. Either patch the holes in the walls or just make falling into the void a death condition and it will all feel better. 3. The enemy erm..poofs may be more interesting if they didn't ignore the room geometry as then their movement dynamic would be a bit more interesting given that they would be stopped by the walls.

Overall a good game, I enjoyed it. Thank you for posting.

A Tribute to Mayhem by TechnoNugget 2018-04-29T15:12:29Z

As a child of WASD, driving a character with the arrow keys is a bit contrary to my nature, so I had some problems with ummm, not dying...a lot. I liked the different powerups, and nice call back with the IMAFIRINMALAZER guy, if I've learned anything from the LD community, and the gamer community at large, its that they love lasers. The ability to manage and someone control which powerup you were using was nice as well. I never did figure out how to drop down through platforms till I saw it in the comments. Overall, a nice entry. Thanks for sharing!

ShootEm? by Merrol 2018-04-25T02:28:16Z

Was a good time, was confused at first but it was really fun. Backwards propulsion was probably the best thing ever. Other things I won't spoil. Game is fun, play it.

Adventure Defense by NateTheGreat 2018-04-25T03:20:43Z

You nearly stole my soul with that game. Really fun. Great entry.

Fightin' Words - Real Typing Strategy by Eitrius 2018-04-25T01:54:36Z

That was fanastic! Needs audio, some more feedback for actions, and more commands. That was really fun, even if I got my armies routed and returned to HQ in defeat. Thanks for submitting. I was the field commander and it felt really good. You get to feel the power when you type "Fire" and press enter while screaming "DIE FOOLS!". It was a good time.

Tower Rancher by PaperbackGorilla 2018-04-24T03:47:58Z

What's this?! A game where I can power level my tower'mon to smash the enemy flat? I'll take two! I had a lot of fun playing this game. Good music that took me back to my days playing game boy late at night smashing team Rocket's groin in. The idea of building up your tower was an interesting idea, and a good use of the theme.

Some of the mechanics need tweeked though, I was able to win with only two towers and one of them did all the work. The speed upgrade is unreal. I had one tower doing something like 8 dmg attacking 0.75 times per second, and the second tower had a damage of 2 and attacked something like 6 times per second. It wa almost 3x the damage output.

Overall it was a great entry and I really enjoyed it. Short but sweet. Great job!

Into the hell by wallie 2018-04-29T16:29:45Z

I played this game for too long. I'm just a sucker for growth and advancement style games. One thing that I noticed though, was that the health pickup became absolutely obsolete. Instead of increasing with the dungeon level, it stays a flat +5 health. While this is helpful, after level 13 I was losing health every floor with no way to regain it, which made playing further seem pointless. Other than that though, this was a lot of fun. Great job!

Ms Grunhilde's Sandwiches by pparadigm 2018-04-29T15:32:50Z

I'm a monster, I just put the peanut butter sandwich back into the bread loaf.

Fun game! I actually really enjoyed myself. The story at the beginning provides a nice rationale for the gameplay as well as adding that nice human touch. I was only sad that I couldn't also put jelly on the sandwich. Unlockable DLC for jelly? I think the thing that made this simple game feels so good was how well it was executed. It plays like those cute flash games from when I was a kid back in the days of newgrounds.com, so that hit me right in the nostalgia gland. But the game was clean and worked perfectly and that made it enjoyable.

Nice entry! Thank you for sharing.

Rookie Raccoon by quijipixel 2018-04-29T17:27:05Z

That was a lot of fun and I quite enjoyed the chilled out groove. The music reminded me of David Wise, and that's a good thing. (Donkey Kong Country etc) A nice game, simple but fun. Thanks for submitting!

Transmute by Evan Leibman 2018-04-29T17:41:23Z

You have a pretty cool idea going here with the twin characters working closely together. The puzzle based platforming was also pretty cool. The issue that i had most with the game was the slippery player movement. It was difficult to get the character to go where I wanted them to go, and I think part of that is in the edge detection fails that happen close to ledges. If I tried to jump off of the corner of something I fell instead of jumped. Overall a really cool idea! Thanks for submitting!

American Revolution'mon by nick11h 2018-04-29T17:11:37Z

Couldn't open it either (Also Windows)

Shooting Mama by Dororo 2018-04-25T01:37:48Z

Patron - One Cheeseburger with pickle please. Cook assembles burger, "You said you wanted pickle on that?" Patron - Yes please Cook cocks AK-47 "Sure thing" Offstage BAM!S Flops burger on the counter "With pickle" says the cook.

Interesting idea. I think the divided kitchen was a little challenging for starting out. A lot of ingredients and once they GOT UP AND RAN AROUND ON THE FLOOR! (sorry, that was hilarious), it was hard to see where what you needed was supposed to be. The order of play was a little unclear and it would have been nice to have some sort of indication of where to place the meal when it was ready. A more in depth tutorial would have gone a long way in opening up this game to more players.

That being said, the idea is hilarious and it would be cool to see the idea furthered into something more. Great entry!
