Cool graphics, style, music. The idea of the competition is revealed too simply. Poor balance between attack and stun. When you are beaten many times it is impossible to escape. A series of blows is useless.
One of the better entries. Audio and visuals are great. The gameplay is solid. And if you didn't die at least once while shopping items, then you haven't played this game right. Only downside I had: No fullscreen mode. Luckily I played it on Windows 10 within a VM hosted on macOS, so I could easily zoom in and enjoy this game to the fullest. Definitely recommended! (And damn, I need to hire @mateusboga for my next team :P)
@gruni @vertuga32 @zhaojun8443 thanks for playing and for the feedback! ;D
@gruni hehe that's my favorite feature of the game xD
Hey the game is impressive, great job! The only thing I missed is the control of the attack, because sometimes it felt kind of un/lucky if I get hit or I hit the enemy. But in general it was damn great :D
A nice game. Like graphics and audio combined with solid gameplay
@carlosvvk @hexkritor Thanks so much :D
Really incredible game!!! First shop i die because i don't understand what was my HP. Just after this, i tried to do the max waves and it's really funny!!
@dziukoala thank you ^-^
There are no sound options :/ .. other than that the visuals look beautiful, the buying for health mechanic is great and I also like that the level doesn't have an end. Good job!
Liked it a lot, really cool feel, audio and graphics are excellent :-)
@luckfishlai thanks! @banzi yea we didnt have time to implement that but we will work on it, thx ^-^
I love visuals and music! Really superb work!
@artyom-volkov Thanks :smile:
J'adore tes graphismes et ton illustration est vraiment cool !
@lola Merci beaucoup ^.^
Really amazing art and music! The health tradeoff mechanic, while simple, is perfect for this game and works really well with the theme. I did find using space to attack to be a bit weird, and the same goes for X, even if a bit less so. I also dislike it when these games are windowed, because I can't tell what's going on. Overall, however, well done! This game got high ratings from me! You should be proud of what you accomplished, all three of you!
@wfmg thanks so much! :D
Good pixel art, awesome art ! Love hack and slash game, but in this one is difficult to have priority on attack, it make progression random i think, very frustrating....otherwise that fit the theme, and music is very good ! Good job !
@robowarrior1982 thx!
Solid game. I'd say the mechanic isn't that inventive, but the gameplay is really fun and it's well polished. I reckon if you made it so you can move up and down too (similar to how Golden Axe works) then it'd be even better. Then at the end of each wave you could auto move the player down so that your shopkeeper has room. Good job with this!
@adam-clayden thanks for the feedback! :smile:
Awesome game really love the art style! really well polished.
very nice graphics and audio. Didn't like the fact that you can buy urself to death. Don't let people buy an item if they can't afford it and still have 1 soul left at least
The art is AMAZING. It just seems like there should be more variety to the gameplay, be it platforming/jumping, moving up and down in the map like in say final fight.
The look of the game is perfect though. Also, should probably not let the character O.D. on items, but it was pretty funny.
@fear-games @ryan-wine @spartacouscous Thanks so much for the feedback!
Excellent graphics and music in this entry, they are both very polished and well done. The gameplay is solid, although getting the timing down on when to swing in order to strike first was difficult to nail, although that might just be my lack of skill. Overall, extremely impressive. Nice work!
@jharler thank you :D
The graphics and music are crazy good, as you've no doubt been told and the health/currency dynamic is a perfect fit. I found the combat a little unsatisfying and cumbersome, though; I think mainly as a result of how long all the animations take to play out. It made it especially difficult when a big cluster of skeletons show up in later waves and there's very little you can do to attack them without being hit.
@mr-field Thanks for your feedback! It is part of the design to punish you for missing the enemy. Make sure you upgrade your speed+attack and not use most of your souls on the merchant :)
Great color scheme great funky rock music! This game is a good one. Attacking and not getting hit all came down to luck though. A little more polish on the combat and you got yourself an A++!
Excellent game. The art is great, the controls and animations make the game feel snappy, and the music and sfx bring everything together. :)
That was a lot of fun honestly. I will never truly understand why building up a number to spend at the next rest to make my abilities more powerful is so enjoyable, but it is. Great game!
Great art and music, hope you guys add some more combat depth and variety
The GFX are purely amazing, really fan of this pixel art style : o Music is really nice too, especially liked the shop one
The game mechanics are pretty simple but the global mood make it work well. I loved how juicy feels the upgrade when looking at the store : D
I think this game would be more amazing if there were "short level bounds". I think the player can manage waves in a tiny space, but anyway great job. The overall game is solid to think of a post jam release, with some more combat mechanics : )
Awesome graphics and music. Gameplay's pretty repetitive though, but the slick art and animations made it fun for a good while. It'd be cool to see a full game made with this concept / character.
Looove your graphism and music. I was too much in the game that when it reset because of me dying I din't saw it I keep playing :smile: Nice work
Graphic and music is nice. Would be nice to see a hp bar or some sort of indicator to know how much damage we are doing and how much health they have left per attack.
Some of the best art and music I've seen, great job! Combat and UI probably needed more feedback sounds and effects, but other than that it's amazing!
Very good, well rounded game. Nice graphics, feel, audio and polish!
@gerardb @powerspark @conspite @black-potion @mutt @hpmnk @nandon @sondrian @falsebracket @no-grapes-games Thank you all so much! :smiley:
Great graphics and good fitting sound and music. The theme is very easy to spot here (either bad or good). I would miss some more features but this is a jam. Great entry and really good work!
Great game overall! Looking forward to see the planned updates and features :D
My favorite part was when I got an upgrade that killed me. I dunno why but I find it funny that with this theme a lot of games you can literally kill yourself by buying things.
I thought the game was fun. It was pretty simple and kinda reminded me of a rhythm game at first. I liked the music and I really liked the little shop the power ups UI looked really cool.
I see you want to add more enemies. I think that will really spice up the game b/c the 2 enemies by wave 10 I was ready for another new type of enemy. But for this jam it's pretty good.
I think maybe the parallax speeds could of been adjusted, something felt a tiny bit off but I couldn't place it. But the background looked really cool
Great game, the art and audio are incredible. I would love to see some way to counter enemies (via a roll, block, or dash of some sort), as currently the combat sometimes devolves into exchanging hits with the enemies.
I like the environment art, music and mood the most. Combat is simple, it would be better to have more options like blocking attacks or dodging. Also, enemies could be more diverse.
But overall it's a good hack and slash game.
Beautiful colouring, good music, and a really well made shop and powerup system. The gameplay itself was nothing super special but good fun!
@koemeterion @ianlux @barret @stevenjmiller @zuzupd @t-ruth thanks so much! we're glad you liked the game
Looks great! Unfortunately, it does not work with wine. Since you're using pygame, any chance to release Mac and Linux (or web) versions? Cheers!
Great game. Really polished. Pixel art is amazing, as well as the sound! Keep up the great work! :slight_smile:
@stefan-jovanovic Thank you so much! ^-^
@caranha Yea we're sorry about that ;( there is no Mac support for pygame as far as I know. We're planning on making a linux version soon though!
@caranha A Linux build has been added!
Very good art!
@prizrak-88 thank you :smile:
looks great, and its fun
cool game, the gameplay is simple and effective, nice art and music, the difficulty curve is good, at first I found it hard but quickly it seemed too easy ^^
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my livestream!

The gameplay feels clunky. I didn't understand how the staggering works: the skeletons stop attacking me when I attack them? Can I avoid their attacks? When I wait for them to come and I spam my attacks, I take damage. If I try to attack and run, I take damage too. It feel that it's impossible to avoid damage.
Loved the art and music! I liked the variety of items and their mechanics too, very good job on those!

@mateusboga I remember your game from last LD! I always dig the look of your games, man!
As for the game itself, it was simple, but well polished. :) I wish there was a bit more strategy involved other than just "run up to monster and mash space" but I did learn to try to keep my distance when attacking, so at least there was that.
The powerups were a neat addition, but I kind of wish they had more of a noticeable impact on the mechanics. Changing your mobility or attack style could have gone a long way in making the game more engaging, but that's more of a post-jam kind of thing. I'm sure y'all were crunched enough for time as it was.
Y'all pumped out something awesome here, so well done! :)
PS: Thanks for letting me kill myself at the shop :thumbsup:
@ruben01 @pixel-boy Thank you so much =D
@eduardo-yukio Yes we understand the combat is still not as polished as we'd like it to be right now :( Thanks!
@coleslaughter Thanks! Yea we have to rethink the powerups a lot xD. Glad you enjoyed our game!
The presentation of the game is amazing! Both audio and graphics add a lot to the mood of the game. But the gameplay seemed to lack some depth. Enemies didn't seem to be different enough and felt the same when fighting. If you manage to get enough damage upgrades to one hit all enemies which is pretty easy at the start, the game pretty much only requires you to press space at the right time and that gets kinda boring rather quickly. Also both knocback and movement upgrades seemed kinda useless. I'd say that after buying them landing hits became even a bit harder for me.
I hope my review doesn't seem too negative! I still liked the game a lot and think it's one of the best entries I played yet.
(For some reason LD doubled my comment, so just ignore this)
Simple but fun to play, art looks extremely polished and I love the soundtrack!
@lamossus @goosyberry Thanks so much for the beedback! :D
really nice art! I was able to sort of get away with just standing and attack right when they approached me, which would usually kill the enemy in one hit. Once you get hit though you get in hit stun and die very quickly. I think I would have liked to be able to slash while running to keep up with the action. Keep up the good work!
Nice game, nice music score also. You should post it on bandcamp, soundcloud or something.
The gameplay was simple but effective. However it loss interest to me about wave 5 because there was no renewing of the gameplay, only increasing rates of HP, damages and such, which is absolutely fine for a jam game, don't get me wrong, it's just that it's not the most orginal gameplay ever but hey ;)
Oh and the artstyle was brilliant too, I really liked it. It truly made the atmosphere efficient.
Maybe what could be improved is the feedback while progressing: + more ennemy types, + maybe boss fights (same sprites but wider and with more health, demands a slash and cover gameplay that adds a bit of variety to the game) + maybe a bit of plateforming + and graphicaly you could made the blade be bloodier and bloodier (that would have been soooo cool!)
Anyway, great job overall :)
The antivirus scanner (Norton, Windows 10) on my computer deleted the game before I had a chance to play it. I tried to restore it but I did not manage so far. Any idea what could be causing the antivirus to flag the game?
@jeroenpx I think you have to disable the antivirus to be able to play it unfortunately :( Mine (Avast) does it too, and I'm not sure why. We'll try to see what is causing this.
@jeroenpx A false positive report has been sent to Symantec, it should get eventually fixed.
@pl4typus @aeveis Thanks so much for the feedback! ^-^
@mateusboga @hugonun Thanks, I managed to play it now.
Nice game but it could use a bit more variation in gameplay I think. Love the music!
I got to wave 14. I don't think it is possible to get a lot further? The difficulty goes up really quickly. Wave14.PNG
Really cool game, this one! I love your colour choices, and the pixel art that goes along with them. The music was totally kickass! I wish that there was a bit more of a tactical element to the combat system. Right now it just feels like mindless button mashing and getting hit or not mostly seems to come down to luck.
