LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

This Little Isle Of Mine by MKnooihuisen 2018-12-05T06:33:30Z

This was a lot of fun, reminded me at first of the religion mechanics from Civ V (a game I love) but turned out to be more clicker-esque. Which to me is great, I also love a well made clicker with a good theme. The one improvement could have been exponential growth, so that once you reach a certain milestone, there are ways to gain sacrifices even faster (maybe the population grows) but then having power of that population causes more trouble. Just food for thought. Great Job!

Resist and Persist by conrad123 2018-12-04T05:07:11Z

I really love the graphical style this game has, usual pixel art that isn't actually pixelated on a grid (can't rotate) doesn't work for me, but this is just hi-rez enough to work. The gameplay loop was great, and everything from shooting to the citizens evacuating felt very satisfying. (There was a good umph to most actions). The one thing I was missing was a feeling of progression. It would have been great to unlock new shooting patterns or even rockets as the game progressed, or maybe launch pods which can evacuate citizens during combat. Great job though, I would definitly play more of this if development continued.

Winter Summer Land by tomdeal 2018-12-04T04:33:41Z

Hey, I really liked this! I felt very cohesive, in both its humor, style, and gameplay, so great job on that! I maybe wish the game made me make a few more interesting choices or forced me to attack more, as often I found the best strategy was to tank the hits and run to the next free-snow men. Also checkpoints on the longerish levels could be a nice way to keep a player moving forward even if they hit a harder part (I might not be great at platformers). Great Job!

Hide n Seek by iggythegrifter 2018-12-04T06:46:36Z

This was amazing, i loved the color palette and simple art style, the tool you used to make it looks really cool, I might have to check it out myself. I would play a longer version of this with a bit more story, but also I think this works perfectly as a piece. Congratulations! This feels done in a good way.

Fight of glory by jkniest 2018-12-21T03:25:00Z

Overall this is a great entry. It has a really solid base to build off of, although I do have a few suggestions. Having to sacrifice someone even if someone died in the level makes it almost impossible to come back from a few mistakes. Also it is difficult to know which square or character I am clicking on since it is in 3d. I would add in an outline that highlights what will be clicked on. Great job though, it was very engaging!

The Mist by tpamir 2018-12-04T06:19:20Z

I got to the 4th day and couldn't progress. Everyone has a job assigned and as far as I can tell there is no way to move to the next day. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if you get a fix in, would love to play more!

Clones by turtlewit 2018-12-05T06:24:51Z

Game also froze for me after level 1, although I do like the art style! Let me know with a reply if a fix is put out, I would love to play more. (I can only play the web version).

Purgatory by omercanbalandi 2018-12-04T04:40:24Z

I loved the art style and music of this game, it really came together as a whole and sucked me in, that said I either suck at it and couldn't find a better strategy than constantly kiting them in a circle, but it felt like it lacked a little depth in the moment to moment gameplay choices I was making. Perhaps when you need to stop shooting to collect the souls? Something to vary the gameplay. Great job! This could be cool to continue and polish up a bit.

Dear GrandMa by TontonPizza 2018-12-04T06:37:33Z

Definitely felt some night in the woods inspiration, but it wasn't on the nose, so great way to make a style your own! I fell into the lake and slowly drowned, not sure if that is the end or if there was more. I think a more clearer objective could help keep the game focused, as opposed to the free-roam style street you walk down after leaving the house. Great Job!

Meat Spike by Muzzz29 2018-12-04T04:15:17Z

Super interesting idea! Seems like it has a lot of potential in the way of possible mechanics and puzzles. A couple thoughts, maybe have a 1st, smaller level before the main one? Just something to kind of introduce the basic movement. I wasted quite a few of my early lives figuring out jump height and stuff like that. Also the first checkpoint was a bit too far in. It felt like I did the very first segment more times than any other segment. Overall, great job!

Reactor Overdrive by JUSTCAMH 2018-12-05T06:21:29Z

I really loved your idea, i think you struck gold (or at least with me) I can't get enough of managing power systems, its my favorite part of games like FTL. I did experience extreme slowdown when the yellow enemies got on screen (shaped like arrows who fired diagonally). Maybe I need to get good, but it seemed a tad too difficult for me to properly learn any strategies, as I would die pretty quickly, so perhaps it could use a better difficulty curve. Great job!

A Town of Questionable Morals by CaseyH 2018-12-21T03:31:42Z

THIS WAS GREAT!! I sacrificed 18 babies, but the real reason I say this is great is it got my heart pumping. I understood all the mechanics very easily, the attack patterns were predictable (which is good, means dodging them takes skill and memory), and I had a clear objective. I do wish there was an onscreen counter for babies sacrificed, and perhaps a goal to reach. Other than that, amazing job! I feel like this could be continued into something larger.

The Sacrifice Dilemma by NothingPersonal 2018-12-04T04:22:06Z

this one was a lot of fun. the people were hard to distinguish, four different colors and bigger icons would help. Great job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

TBFTWorLD41 by joemid 2018-04-24T06:16:16Z

WOW. This is the most unique thing I've played in a while. The atmosphere was off the charts in this. I didn't look at the controls listed here ahead of time, but figured a few out as I played. I honestly think that made the experience better? When I hit 's' it switched which Dino I was controlling / following, not sure if that was intentional but it was cool. It also kept saying 100% for me, and I think if that is the health it could be cleaned up to fit aesthetically with the rest of the game. Overall great job, I was truly drawn into this, it was like playing a game conceived by David Lynch.

Demon Dash by superpokeunicorn 2018-04-24T06:35:29Z

I had a lot of fun with this one, great job! My only gripes were sometimes the amount of enemies was overwhelming, and not being able to shot up or down made it difficult with some of the level design and enemy movements to get a shot off. Perhaps this could have benefited from more open / slightly larger and more spread out level design. Still a great job, the music and graphics really gelled well and I had fun.

Court Invaders by Robber 2018-04-24T04:59:10Z

I really enjoyed this, even though I couldn't get past wave 2. It was really difficult to try and hit the balls and aim at the same time, which is probably the point. One thing I will say is it would be great to have a visual indicator on the tennis player of how charged up the shot is, as it is hard to keep track of the bar way at the top left when looking at the player and the invaders. Great Job!

The Mad Tea Party - A Card and Run Game by Tiberius 2018-04-24T05:13:25Z

This is a really novel idea, and has a ton of potential. Currently I started to lose interest purely because of how long everything took. Having to wait for all of the cards to go even if I only put a few in really slowed the pace. It may just be a caveat of the genre blending that it ended up feeling slow. I did love the card sequencing, I just wish I had the patience to get further. Overall this is extremely impressive for a Jam, there is a lot of content, I just couldn't get to it all. Also the music was great.

Light Shaft by 0uicmoi 2018-04-25T20:39:07Z

I really liked the look of this. It lacked some polish here and there, like how slippery the ice platform was, and that you could bounce on the trampoline without placing it down. The idea was great as well, of placing platforms from a limited selection to get higher up. The only problem there was I had so many platforms to place even if I messed up I still was able to make it to the top. Great job!

Vector Rabbits Slayer by thiagowaw 2018-04-24T19:50:34Z

Your art, and especially your animations, are really smooth and work really well. Overall it was very charming and played great (which is super important and impressive for a jam game). I feel like there could have been more ways to interact with the bunnies, or something else to do besides just attack. Great job!

Tenebrous by Handle 2018-04-24T03:25:34Z

This looks amazing, and the music set the mood really well. I especially liked how it builds the rooms in the beginning. While it was fun at first, there wasn't a ton to do, and that coupled with how long each turn takes (considering most of it is walking) it felt slightly tedious to move the character around. But the shooting affecting your view mechanic was great, and made it very tense when it zoomed in. Great job!

Pizza Chef by imKrye 2018-04-24T03:05:41Z

This is really cute. I was stressed at first when I didn't know when the pizza was done, but then I just gave into it and had fun.

BlowScape by Fleoh 2018-04-25T02:42:39Z

This game was really addicting, but not in the clicker, evilsh way. The progressions really kept me going as I upgraded my ship. I think it would be great if the player could upgrade their gun or maybe upgrade the hull. This is a great base and I can see it going places. I would love to play an expanded version!

City Surgeon by Bitoddgames 2018-04-24T05:59:11Z

Overall I thought this was amazing for a Jam game, and a lot of fun to play. I actually wanted more when I was done. A few things feel like they can be refined, like how squirrely the crane is, especially being controlled by mouse, and how 'jumpy' the houses are (how easily the fling around on the end of the crane). It also could help to display the controls at the beginning of the game, as I had to do a little guesswork. The music, graphics, and gameplay all added up to a charming experience! I had a lot of fun wrecking the buildings on my second go through.

Transmute by Evan Leibman 2018-04-26T19:57:41Z

@TheMonsterFromTheDeep Thank you for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated. I really like what I've made here so I plan on developing it further. With that in mind I definitly plan on tightening up aiming with the mouse, and the 'W' to jump problem wasn't one I noticed, so thank you for pointing it out. As I see quite a few people have pointed out the controls are a little slippery, or take a while to get used to, I plan on revisiting them and tweaking to get them more responsive and get the right 'feel' for the game.

As for the green enemies, the idea is when you shoot them they phase out of existence for a few seconds, allowing you to bypass them. (They should slowly fill back in over a few seconds then move, if they didn't then it was a bug I need to track down, was it immediate or over time?) The same happens to blocks you shoot that you phase in or out of existence. As I continue with this I definitly want to think about the lore / justifications of mechanics to make sure it all fits.

Demon Date by Kronos 2018-04-24T02:51:22Z

Really cool concept, unfortunately increasing the gym membership doesn't give you more than 1 stat per click. It had a fun gameplay loop though, and a fun idea.
