I love the mood in this. Something about it that I just can't pin point. I think it's the culmination of the soft music with the art. I do wish it had a better progression in terms of getting the seed to bloom, like with less obstacles and a slower building pace and then the further you progress the faster the game progresses.

perfect game to play in bed after an exhausting jam

roidz 2019-04-30 11:57

I love the intro, that explains you the game. Then the game starts and it was completely different then i expected :)

I love the art and mood of this game a lot. Also - i think game would be perfect (and easier) to be played on mobile devices ! Excellent game!

RIP my bean! I've never had to worry about being crushed by skyscrapers before. The game was quite interesting. I found the controls to be a little to sluggish relative to what was being asked of me in terms of evasion near the end. The audio was also mixed pretty loudly but the overall experience was quite nice. Great entry well done!

whycardboard 2019-05-01 00:12

the art and the music work perfectly together, and the whole experience is very nice. as said earlier, the controls were a little sluggish. other than that, great work!

carraka 2019-05-01 00:15

Definitely the beginning seemed best suited for a touchscreen. I had a horrible time on my mouse, but even after the mode switched to keyboard, it was way more stressful than I anticipated? Maybe I'm just very unskilled? But the level of stress was so much higher than the music that I got fed up, sadly.

The art is beautiful! I'm not sure how this connects with the theme yet, and you probably don't want your game rated in humor because it doesn't seem like it's intended to be a funny game. Also, at the very beginning of the game, I didn't see any water on the ground, and the instruction just said flick, so I kept flying up and up, trying to get around the clouds because I thought they were obstacles. In the end I fell back to the ground and realized I could have been collecting things and running from buildings the whole time. So maybe include a directional arrow as a beginning instruction. Well done! I'm sorry I couldn't reach the end, it's a beautiful game!

Wow! This game is so cool. I love the music and the theme. The art is very well done and everything fits together well. It is very easy to get in and start playing, but not too easy. Great job and congrats :)

junt74 2019-05-01 00:56

I love the artwork and mood. great game!

macs 2019-05-01 01:02

The art looks wonderful and I loved the intro/tutorial. I really wanted to play it but unfortunately the forced fullscreen broke it on my widescreen monitor :(

Great experience overall! All the stages work pretty well. Its pretty brutal to get downgraded from flying to walking. Thanks for making a Linux build available.

lola 2019-05-01 01:20

Wah I love the graphism and the mood !

onepolygon 2019-05-01 01:34

Great game! The art is truly amazing and works well with the music.

potatolain 2019-05-01 01:52

I really liked the graphics on this entry; it was really pretty. I also really liked the idea of having separate methods of locomotion as you grow. The first stage was quite fun to control and really pulled me in. I really like what you were going for!

I try to give a little constructive feedback when I can, so I'll mention a couple things... it really felt like it took a long time to go between movement types for me, to the point it started to feel a little repetitive in the walk stage. I honestly think halving the times per stage might have helped.

I also ran into a really discouraging bug(?) after getting to the flight stage... I got knocked back into walking as I got hit into the buildings, and as a result I had to start the walk stage completely over. It seemed like every stage was a checkpoint, so that felt crummy.

Still a great entry - don't take any of that the wrong way! Thanks for a good entry.

This game is so stylish and pretty. The aesthetics for both visual and the music are wonderful and create such a unique mood. It's also so fun to have the mechanics evolve as your seed does and the minimalistic tutorial does wonders to make you understand what you have to do immediately without breaking immersion! I don't see it reflecting the theme much and the controls are a little unweildy at times.

I also ran into a problem, being as clumsy as I am, where the game assumes you have reached a certain mode of mobility further on and if you can't, for example, fly... you get stuck with no chance of clearing an obstacle by hopping. Maybe it's supposed to reflect how in this crushing world you make one mistake and you're doomed? Or maybe I'm just bad at this...

Either way it was fun and contemplative.

taffyko 2019-05-01 02:08

Very nice! Wonderful artwork and audio, a really relaxing and enjoyable experience overall. I enjoyed each segment, however I couldn't get beyond the point at which you become a tree, as once I grew large enough I would be hit by aerial obstacles that I could not evade that would cause me to lose.

stark 2019-05-01 07:41

Nice game! Reminded me great time of playing Spore =) Flying gameplay is a bit hard, since you must start all over with walking period beginning.

fadex 2019-05-01 11:04

@macs Hey, just press F to get out of fullscreen

fadex 2019-05-01 11:07

@cppchriscpp fixed that bug, thank you!

fadex 2019-05-01 11:07

@prideling fixed it. Thank you

fadex 2019-05-01 11:08

@carraka Well our idea was that you as a nature, get used as a currency by humans. Well :D Thank you!

deathbysnail 2019-05-01 12:29

Awesome. Love the art and animation, and the evolving music. 2 things however: - some of the collision felt off on the crawling plant phase, and i'd just get boned by random debris - I couldn't finish the tree section due to being unable to spam fast enough due to repetitive strain, and i'd just get caught between the buildings and the flying objects

I'd love to finish it, I feel like I was just reaching a crescendo, and felt fantastic up until then.

fadex 2019-05-01 12:55

@deathbysnail fixed the tree section! Thanks.

hbocao 2019-05-01 16:54

Beautiful game! And mood was just right. I like the message behind it although was not that fun to played it. But very nice entry nonetheless! Keep rocking!

caeonosphere 2019-05-03 00:40

Love the graphics and music, and how the controls change as you progress. I agree that the tree spamming is maybe a little too hard; I barely got through it and I am a *very* experienced spammer. :)

atmospherium 2019-05-06 17:09

The mood on this was top-notch, the music built in intensity perfectly without losing the underlying beauty. Really strong work on that front. The grayscale graphics were nice and really allowed the color queues to pop. Gameplay was varied enough to keep my interest and the checkpoints kept me from getting frustrated (although that last tree section was a bit tough). Good work on this.

jezebel 2019-05-08 13:26

I really liked the game. I love the graphics and the concept and the fact that I got to use my mouse. It did take me a little while to figure out how to control the seed, but once I did it was fine. The mood was also really nice and relaxing. Good job!

luckydaisy 2019-05-12 17:25

Definitely an incredible feat to pull this off during a jam

Nice to play an entry that has a clear message that feels incredible poignant

Very well done

attala 2019-05-12 17:28

Spot on with the mood, graphics and sound. Initially I struggled to figure how to control the seed but got it before I gave up :) When I got up to speed there seemed to be som problem with rendering the seed. (Like there was one flickering copy of the seed just ahead). I suspect this comes down to V-sync problems or something like that. (I'm on a 144 fps gaming monitor with G-sync). Overall a nice submission!

m0dsat 2019-05-13 08:08

Oh, the art is nice. Once figuring out the controls it was quite fun. Great work!

jordantanner 2019-05-13 09:22

@fadex Really nice. I assume you did all the art and music yourself. Quite good. Nice move adding physics forces to the main "player" object using the mouse movement, it works pretty damn well. Also the tutorial intro was quite tastefully done. Very good entry!!

paulo-brunassi 2019-05-14 21:16

Really beautiful game! I loved the mood, artstyle and music. Good job!

michaelsonbritt 2019-05-19 15:08

Beautiful art and music! What kind of engine did you use??

I'm glad that getting hit by blimps is not a problem in real life. To beat the last level, I downloaded a tool that presses spacebar a hundred times per second. Using technology to win a game built with technology, that's about rejecting technology, heh. Challenge is rewarding though.

A really well envisioned atmosphere and experience. Congrats!
