The coin character is adorable. Really like the pacing. The enemies (I'm guessing they were bankers or rich people?) made me laugh :)

longbowrocks 2019-04-30 03:47

That was clever. Your life is literally coinage. The way enemies interact with you. I loved the way you used the coins to interact with the world too.

sondrian 2019-04-30 03:55

Simple puzzle platformer but it works. I enjoyed playing quite a lot. I got stuck with the button and the switch. Great entry!

team-kelly 2019-04-30 04:06

Love this game! The character designs are really charming and the puzzles are fun. The colour palette and feel of the controls could use a bit of work. Really enjoyed it :)

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 04:16

@synystercola Glad you liked it! :D

@longbowrocks Thank you for the comment; I really appreciate it c:

@sondrian Happy you enjoyed! Thank you!

@team-kelly 100% agree with the suggestions; thank you! Glad you liked my game :)

plexsoup 2019-04-30 06:41

Amazing game! Great mechanic. Great cuteness. Great game-feel. Good puzzles. Sadly, I got stuck on the big empty level with the spring/buttons.

I loved the feelz as we're forced to give up your coins.

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 06:52

@plexsoup Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed :D Is that the one level with the springs and multiple gates?

plexsoup 2019-04-30 06:58

@mrpiedpiper It was a big empty cavern? I needed to jump really high with springs.

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 07:05

@plexsoup Ah, that one. I need to fix up the springs later. Right now they give you more boost if you walk into them than if you bounce on them. Sorry if they got you stuck :\

shulololo 2019-04-30 07:07

I thought some of the puzzles were pretty cool. The coin throwing mechanic was pretty nice in the last and the second to last levels of the game.

The movement in the game is a bit floaty at times and sometimes I kind of wish there was an aiming arc or line to determine where the coin will land once I throw it. Other than that, I had fun with the game. Great job!

plexsoup 2019-04-30 07:08

Ok. That makes sense. I tried emptying my coin stack then jumping on them, because I previously learned that I go higher when I'm lighter.

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 07:26

@shulololo Re-doing movement and an aiming arc would be great additions, and I'm glad you enjoyed. Thank you for trying out my game!

oktarian 2019-04-30 09:07

It was a fun game! Took me a minute to figure some of the levels out but overall loved it! A bit slow paced for me but nonetheless entertaining. :)

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 09:16

@oktarian Thanks for taking the time to try out my game! Glad you had fun playing :D

tomasmunro 2019-04-30 12:04

love the cute art style man good job, not super detailed but consistency in art makes it feel like a complete game, gg

inferture 2019-04-30 12:23

Hey great game ! I liked how you used the theme, and the characters coming for your money are hilarious (I didn't undestand they could kill you until the Thanks for playing level though x) )! I got stuck at a point on my first run when I accidently dropped my coins but overall it was tons of fun. oops I missed.png The graphics were pretty cute too ^^

didigameboy 2019-04-30 13:44

there is no bugs, only features! :D Nice game!

2019-04-30 14:09

👍

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 18:30

@tomasmunro Thank you! :smile:

@inferture Thank you for playing it all the way through! Glad people are enjoying the graphics ^^ I should have mentioned this in the game, but if you get stuck you could either run into an enemy, or press "R" to respawn. I'll make that more clear next time  (Or maybe I should add a level element that would allow you to re-collect that coin )

@didigameboy Well said  Thank you!

@xyz :thumbsup:

peachtreeoath 2019-05-01 05:33

Really clever character design! I usually only see things like slimes that drop portions of themselves, but I loved the coinroll along with the greedy businessmen that want a piece of you lol. You also used that mechanic as a way to create a platform and jump off of them and I thought that was genius. Definitely one of the better themed puzzle platformers I've seen and you created a nice, gentle atmosphere in general with this one.

nebrazif 2019-05-01 21:24

This game is incredible, i really enjoyed playing it. This way that you use the theme to craft this game is great !

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-02 02:45

@peachtreeoath I'm really glad you liked it! I'm quite proud of this one. Thanks for playing!

@nebrazif Thank you so much! I'm really happy with how the theme turned out for my game

nico-fallosch 2019-05-02 09:39

Nice little adventure! Just would be nice if the music wouldnt always restart and would be nice if you could pick up your coins again, that would open new ways for puzzles.

overall cool game i enjoyed it!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-02 15:22

@nico-fallosch Thanks for playing! Love that you enjoyed the game :D

Yeah, re-working the music would definitely help out. And again, I should have made this next point more clear in-game. I would have loved to have more of those instructional graphics like I have for the jump height. You can pick up dropped coins by either respawning, or standing at one and pressing right-click.

caramelcode 2019-05-03 01:53

Hey I really loved many parts of your game! Things I really thought were good the pixel art, the music, and the innovative idea that the main character is a coin roll and uses coins from his head! I thought that was really clever. I also really really really love that you used Godot! Well done!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-03 06:03

@caramelcode Thank you for the kind words! I love how my project turned out, and that people are enjoying it!

(Gooooo Godot!)

jesusache 2019-05-03 07:16

Super cute game, I love the mechanics, the look and the implementation of the theme. I think personally, the movement is a bit on the slow side, so getting wrong a jump or a spring boost can be super punishing because you fall and walk so slowly. The coin shot and the springs are finicky, so I would like them to be a bit more consistent. But the pixel art and specially the main character is super adorable, and I loved that the enemies are just greedy suits. The puzzles were very good, and it's all nice and polished (specially since it's your first week with the engine!)

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-03 07:30

@jesusache Snappier movement would probably make a whole world of difference. Thanks!

Yeah, the Springs were something I didn't think to fix until it was too late. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with them, but I think you get more boost atm if you walk into them from the side? Weird stuff. I'll get on that!

Thanks for all of the kind words and feedback. really appreciate it! :D

zubspace 2019-05-03 09:38

Wow, I really like this one. The concept is very interesting. You did a stellar job with gradually introducing new concepts to the player. Additionally it fits the theme very perfectly. Well done!

A few things which appeared to me:

* Movement is a tad too slow and feels like on the moon. On the other hand it feels very relaxing. * I would always shoot exactly in the direction of the mouse pointer. I sometimes wanted to shoot in an angle and accidentally shot upwards. * Sometimes coins can be stuck in places where you cannot pick them up anymore. Maybe make them come back somehow? It's annoying to restart a level because of a missed shot. * The last level is hard, maybe a bit too hard. But I'm glad I could make it without hints!

But overall a great experience you can be proud of!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-03 18:14

@zubspace Thank you!

* I think I stopped working on Movement a bit too quick, so it feels... very floaty. A refined movement system would definitely help. * Hm. I originally had the shoot system controlled by the player's movement keys, and changed it to the mouse last minute (Which is silly because I was intuitively pointing the mouse where I was shooting anyway the whole time) so the shooting system was very "directional", and I didn't even consider changing it. I'll give that a shot! (Edit: Ha. Give the shooting system a shot. Oops.) * That's a good point. Maybe some kind of money-themed way to grab it from a distance grappling hook style? * Yeah, I might have gone a bit too much with that one. I kind of wanted a "Use everything you've learned" kind of level, and might have gone overboard. Oops :P

Thanks for playing, and for the great feedback! Much appreciated :D

no-grapes-games 2019-05-04 02:57

I liked the concept of a coin stack having to take coins from himself. The sprites were charming.

The character's handling could have been a little tighter (it was kind of sluggish and floaty). But some nice puzzles and innovative idea!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-04 03:10

@no-grapes-games Thanks you! Glad you liked it

matevt 2019-05-20 21:29

What a solid entry. Loved the little coin thieves :D

goog 2019-05-20 22:23

cool entry right here. i like the way coindude moves and is animated and the overall retro feel of the game. good job :)

coleslaughter 2019-05-20 23:43

I feel like this game has a lot of potential with some polish! :)

First of all, it took me quite a while to figure out your mechanics. I had to look back at your list of controls on your game page to figure it out, but ideally the game should clue me in on what is possible for me to do (I didn't even have my hand on the mouse for the first 2 or so levels).

The game is a little slow-paced and floaty, and it's pretty difficult to fire my coins with any sort of confidence in their accuracy, resulting in a lot of guessing and checking.

Other than these problems, though, I love everything about the game. I love how the "enemies" can also be used as platforms. I love how you can jump higher when you have fewer coins weighing you down. I love how you can stack coins to get to higher areas. I love the platforms that you can walk on but your coins can't rest on (this is an especially inspired idea, and has a lot of potential design space).

I would love to see this polished up and expanded upon in the future. There are a lot of cool ideas here, well done!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-21 22:19

@matevt Thank you! The coin thief guys seem to be a favorite XP

@goog Thanks! Glad my work paid off :D

@coleslaughter Ah, yes. I could definitely work on that quite a bit. I was hoping to have more self-explanatory graphics like I did for the "Less coin = higher jump" bit, but ran out of time. Maybe more levels that are based around mechanics to learn about how the game works too!

Yes, adding more ability to aim would probably help quite a bit. Lower frustration. Thanks!

I'm really happy you enjoyed my game! It took quite a while to make, and seeing all the critique people have for my game makes it all worthwhile :D

philstrahl 2019-05-25 19:32

Excellent level design and I love the simple mechanics, makes a lot of sense! Sadly, I got stuck later on... https://youtu.be/NxsO8deuXdo

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-28 20:22

@philstrahl Thank you for playing my game! I’m glad you enjoyed it :D

I think the reason you got stuck can only be blamed on my game missing a step in it’s learning curve.

The way I wanted the player to get a coin up there, was by stacking coins on the ground so that they’d be high enough. I probably should have dedicated an obstacle to that idea earlier on :P

Anywho, I loved watching you play it, and learned alot from seeing somebody (other than family) try it out.

Thanks :D
