Really enjoyed it, and you already had my criticism with my enemy hitboxes on the stream. But the movement is really fun, hope you can expand it a bit more to add a score. Good game!

The weapon and enemy variety are staggering for a compo game, hats off to the chef. And all the hits and animations feel so satisfying,.
I like the idea, it's just a bit hard to properly gauge the cost-reward relationship between the floors with the bank-time ticking down. I do appreciate all the flavor texts you added, got a smile out of me a good chunk of times.
Oh this is one of my favs so far. It controls nicely and everything is so cute and well put together.
Its a really engaging puzzle game, makes you think before you take the next level. Gave the final level the ol college try but it ended up beating me. Nonetheless, great game!
Some of my favorite games on this jam are the ones that really have a clear risk reward mechanic. Like Lucky said, it could be explained bit better how the system itself works because discouraging the player by making them lose so quickly can hurt how your game feels but I did like how stuff gets slightly claustrophobic as the pollution grows around ya.
Some images on your LD or itch.io pages will also help your game get some traction, since browser games already have a huge advantage over downloadables.
Nice work!
One final note, please never use white text over pure yellow, it's like staring right into the sun :p
The graphics really made this one stand out, its even kinda nostalgic. My main lil issue is that among the sea of white and gray my tiny cursor tended to get lost during some space dog fights. A custom cursor that fit the art style would've been helpful. Looking forward to what you guys do next.
I agree with Colin. Really enjoy all the aesthetics, and the sheer variety of monsters you've created, I just wish you could attack along the vertical axis too. Its easy to get mobbed down while focusing one enemy, and then you have no escape. I do like the corpses being in the way as a concept, just tuning down the spawn rates would make it better.
I liked it, and I don't play many puzzle games. I would change the order of some puzzles, because I think the 3rd or 4th one was actually the hardest for me :p
I really liked the use of the campfire as a ticking clock, it worked visually and thematically. Audio gameplay and visual have such good cohesion. My only real gripe is that sometimes its hard to judge whether you are in range to interact with something. A highlight on the objects you are about to itneract with would solve the issue, but other than that, great project!
Loved the game. This is one of those where you can see the difficulty build up level by level even if there's only 4. My only gripe is that the suit doesn't regenerate if you are already wearing one so you have to wait for the current to run out. Also sick sick jams, congrats!
I accidentally dragged one icon behind the GUI and got soft locked. An exit or restart option in the main gameplay would be nice. I do support the idea of tighter time limits. Nice game!
Took me a while but finally got that final puzzle. I'm amazed at all the cool brain teasers you managed to get done in just the 3 days. GARDIAN.PNG
I enjoy the game a lot. Its clean, and I specially like the difficulty curve, every level pushes a bit more than the last. There's a funny bug, if you die on X stage and replay the game, after beating level 1 again, you get sent to level X+1. I missed the last third of levels 5 6 and 7 because of this. Overall nice game, I wouldn't mind playing more levels of this :D
@lamossus @silvae Sorry about that, we were trying to balance out your ability to control the direction of your attack with some variety. Gonna be trying a new schem using the right mouse button for weapon change. Thanks for playing and commenting, glad you found it fun!
@trystan-sarrade @ashment @thejusticesong Thanks for the feedback. Ill try to add more feedback and smoother movement for both the player and the enemies in a post jam version, hopefully it will be less visually overwhelming. Thank you so much for playing!
@supernapie Just being kept in mind when talking about Nitrome is a huge compliment, thank you! And thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure to keep that in mind for a post jam version.
I could play this kind of puzzles for hours. Graphics are cute and the sound effects math them perfectly
@jared-york It is by design, but I never had time to test the game with other people so it seems I didn't make the answer clear enough. The whole point of the game was to advance by unequipping stuff instead of finding upgrades but I wasn't able to fully explore the idea by the deadline.
Thanks for playing and commenting!
@bartosz Yeah, a lot of that comes down to this being a jam and me not properly scoping the whole thing when I started. But I can go through some of your points
-Yeah, I know its useless as a stat for now, but it was coded from the start and it doesnt affect the level so I just left it in. -There's a message down on the right with the controls because I ran out of time to draw the UI that displays your item and how to activate them, plus the message is wrong and it says you shoot with X. -Yup helmet is the one item without any implications. -The thing about the metal bar really really bums me out because the whole core of the game hinged on it and it looks like I didnt sign post it well enough. The idea was that you cant crouch under there while the jetpack is still equiped, and going forward you need to unequip other stuff. -The coin thing is really weird, and I need to look into it because I use the same coin system for another game of mine and that bug really breaks the whole ordeal. -And yes yellow diamonds are checkpoints, but they dont do much since you can hardly die in the game as is. I figured I would include them anyhow because the level is big and if you did manage to die it would suck to go back to the beginning.
I dont want it to sound like I'm making excuses, I really am thankful for the feedback and I will keep it all in mind as I go forward in game making.
Hey! I'm sorry I couldn't showcase your game on stream, but I ended up liking it a lot! It's all super polished, and with the exception of one zombie that didn't behave like I expected him to, the mechanics are all well put together which makes for some fun puzzle action. Even tho all the art assets indivudually are super good, I think they clash together, but I think the game has potential for a fun small full release with more enemy types and goals. Thank you for submitting your game!
The changing tunes of the options are such a neat little touch. I'm still not super sure about who did it, but the bar on top for your status as an undercover is a neat gameplay bit, and I wouldn't mind seeing more chapters of this game with that mechanic in different scenarios. Hope you got your sleep!
That well section is insane, but I think it's the game at it's best. The combat is bit weak, but dodging and platforming is super fun, and I really commend the absolutely massive map for a jam game. It's easy to get caught up spamming and dying because you forgot how much life you have, but that's something you end up getting used to. One of my favs in the Jam!
Insane amounts of polish. The sound is great, the graphics and animations are great, and the puzzles are super dope. Every criticism I have is super nitpicky. Like I wish the cursor was a bit more noticeable, and some i-frames when you respawn, because those golems can really gang up on you. (I thought I could dash over gaps). Best regards to the whole team, they did an excellent job on each task!
I think for a 2player game, calling one of the players "Enemy" is kinda misleading. The art is gorgeous, and I'm sure I'd enjoy the gameplay a bit more if I wasn't playing against myself :p But it's still a cool experience regardless. I think adding a bit more feedback regarding the tile you are currently activating because some characters cover some of the tiles above them, and also the GUI could do a better job of knowing how close you are to the winning or losing, because I lost some games with 50 sap left and I wasn't sure why. Some small tweaks here and there could make this game fully realize that potential.
I'll tell ya, those bounces off the wall can be super punishing. Takes a while to get used to the controlls, but the challenges itself are pretty fun. The amount of life you lose vs the amount you have is forgiving enough that you aren't scared to mess up or try stuff. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to figure out how to move, but that's on me, not the game. :P
Super cute game, I love the mechanics, the look and the implementation of the theme. I think personally, the movement is a bit on the slow side, so getting wrong a jump or a spring boost can be super punishing because you fall and walk so slowly. The coin shot and the springs are finicky, so I would like them to be a bit more consistent. But the pixel art and specially the main character is super adorable, and I loved that the enemies are just greedy suits. The puzzles were very good, and it's all nice and polished (specially since it's your first week with the engine!)
Can't believe I spent my hard earned money spawning a goat just for some rando to kill it. I only wish there was a way to take a slightly more active role in money making. It's gonna take me forever to get a house.
I like the graphics, and the wind sound with the super subtle swaying of the camera makes for a pretty chill viewing expression.
Being on Newgrounds, with the look and the funny randomized voice lines from the enemy made the game feel nostalgic to me. I share the grip of only 4-wy fire, but I think with the levels designed as they are, you can still get stuff done. The sound design also made the game feel that much better.
Thank you for submitting your game to my stream, I'm sorry I couldnt play it live, but its a super fun one. The concept is simple but man is it ever enjoyable. Keeping track of your hearts and trying to keep your lil blob smiling is a super engaging game loop. You get ten *pews* out of ten.
@kichex Thank you so much. I'm sorry the game crashed, do you remember if there was an ERROR message, or the game just froze? It's my first time doing rando generation of stuff, so there's a lot of bugs that are hiding right below the surface, that I couldn't catch.
@nico-the-pro I will try and improve some of the stuff. I ran out of time to create the tutorial, but I think the UI should've been enough to convey your health loss, I will need to find a better way.
Thanks everyone for playing and commenting!
@klianc09 Yeah, the challenge and levels don't ramp up with the upgrades. I've played some runs where I just end p with more hearts than I could possible count, so that's one of the first things Im trying to fix for the post jam. The hearts are one of things that worried me, so I'm messing around with the idea of them being like the shells in mario kart.
That error is probably the same that Kichex found, so a huge thank you for copying it! I'll get to resolving it because I still haven't come across it.
Cool puzzles! The controls are the smallest bit of finicky sometimes, but its super satisfying just chaining all the events you need to do before your life kills you. Cool pixelart too!
Really wish the X and Cross towns weren't such lazy bums. Their economy gets stuck at 0 and I cant live. It's a fun idea, it's just a bit hard to understand what you can do to make sure your hoard stays afloat. (Big fan of the narrative you created for this, I wish there was a category where I could give you 5 stars for it)
I can appreciate the difficulty ramping up when you fail, but when the red balls come up, it's over, man. I'd honestly just change the jump arc to make it snappier so it's a more useful dodging tool, and not a button that commits you to a state where you await the sweet release of death.
That blah blah blah song is a really jam. It's a super polished game, and the difficulty ramp is perfect, with slightly harder obstacles added over time. I would like the cursor to only be active while you are clicking because sometimes trying to get into position messes up my coins, but maybe I just need to git gud. Great game!
Hey there! I'm very sorry I couldn't feature your game on the stream, but thank you for submitting it, its super fun! I think some of the stuff you can buy at the start is a bit OP (the rifle carried me through the whole shopping spree), but everything is super well designed, the UI works great, and the battle system is super well put together. Hope to see what else you'll do in the future.
Its a nice little game, and a pretty nice entry for a first jam! I think the main issue is that the attack animation is kinda limp. In the future consider adding less anticipation for the attack (so it feels more responsive and snappy), and making the attack a bigger arc, if you look at games like megaman Zero, the sword has a ridiculous arc that just smears in front of Zero, and that's what makes the game so satisfying. As a general rule, if you have to choose between making things too powerful for the player or too frustrating, go for the powerful. That aside, the feedback for hitting and the way the wave is set up is really nice, it creates a very complete game loop, which usually is the most important aspect of a jam game. Hope to see you in the next jam!
It's kinda scary how I can see myself reflected in lazy boy, forgetting to eat and sleep. At first I was going to suggest using a Sound FX generator, but I ended up falling in love with the beep beep beep for your danger status. I'm not super good at those balance your life types of simulators, but I enjoyed this game. Hope you keep making games in the future!
This game brought a gigantic smile to my face, haha. Great idea, and fantastic execution. The moment I realized the photos were created dynamically I fell in love with. I personally liked the music :p
Huge fan of the main character's animation. His run jump and proud belly grab are full of personality for a character made of a handful of squares. The difficulty curve is a bit on the flatter side. there's not much difference in the challenge 10 seconds in and 1 minute in. Also to piggyback on the point made by Shunaky, some obstacle that covers some of the high part of the screen would at to the challenge, because the jump is actually super generous.
Beautiful game. Environment, lighting and the bullets are all super gorgeous. The player movement is a bit slow for my taste, but gameplay feels good. With more waves and enemies, I could keep playing this for a while.
Hello, I'm sorry I couldn't feature your game on my stream yesterday, but thank you for submitting. I got to play it, and even tho it's simple, I still enjoy a good challenge of seeing just how far I can go (floor 17 without gun :p). I think the music and the intro are cool, so I'm hoping you do more games in the future cus I want to see what else you'll have under your wings. Best of luck!
Really fun idea and execution! It seems like a fun exercise to do with kids learning a second language in school. Really good entry for LD45!
Made it to 5 days. I loved the graphics super cute and the animations are full of charm. I didnt like the mouse wiggle tho. The way your UI is set up it seems like its perfectly doable to just click on an item to equip it, or click ahead of you to use melee weapons, but maybe I'm just not super used to using the numbers to equip items. Overall I liked what's there, I just wish the controllers were a bit more comfy. But great game!
fggg.PNG Computer by the toilet, as it should!
I thought I understood the mirror mechanic when they first appeared but the further I advanced the less I understood :p It's a bit too easy to just brute force through a couple of the levels, and even after getting the answer I was still a bit confused. Graphics are super pretty, I could stare at that soft palette all day, and the music is super catchy too. Looking forward to what you do with this concept!
I sorta understand that you were going for a lower pace game, but it's still frustrating how little input and information the player has. I really liked the way the little snippets were written, and it did seem to be pointing towards something, but when you start getting the same messages again, it kills every sense of progression you were making. If maybe at the end of the day you got a new story about the person that lives their best self in times like these, it would give you a better reason to advance.
Graphics are kinda messy, specially the way the text is set up. In general text doesn't need to be that big or spaced out, but the music is appropriately eerie and foreboding.
Hope my feedback helps in times like these :)
Got stuck on Awkward, appropriately enough. It is a bit on the tougher side, but it's still super satisfying finding out the correct sequence once you understand the first set of mechanics.
My favourite game of the jam so far!. If you added Coyote time and more level I'd easily buy it.
