This is great, I love the interpretation of the small world theme. Nice controls, but it might be easier if you could hold the mouse button to continuously fire. I also love the BSOD death screen!

tombishopspg 2017-05-01 18:29

This is fantastic. I hit retry more than any other game so far :D. I really liked how intuitive the staging of the levels were, I would think "oh its getting easier that's weird" and then it immediately kicking it up 10 notches. I would think "wow doing this in one go is hard, I have one hit left" and I immediately would get a life drop in the next area. Just great all around.

Great classic arcade game feel, right down to the sounds. I really enjoyed the polished feel of the game, and the size change aspect was a nice surprise. Thanks for a fun game!

schizoid2k 2017-05-01 18:34

Nice job! Fun to play. Reminded me of a cross between Berzerk and Pacman

rabbittortoise 2017-05-01 18:54

Very good game, I hit retry more times than with any other game yet. It would be very nice to be able to just hold the button to shoot, my finger was pretty tired after playing this for some time. Audio is good, the game feels polished. Size change was a very nice idea and I like the the theme you chose.

The game was very challenging and, as a result, I chose run and hide, too hard for me :)

caterein 2017-05-06 18:51

Great idea for the theme. You also have gorgeous graphics! As other commenters have mentioned, I would've enjoyed being able to hold the mouse button down to fire, and just a heads up, the main menu in the game instructs the player to press right click to fire, not left click. Overall, really well done :)

kleinzach 2017-05-06 20:56

I liked that a lot! Your mechanics were very solid, and the growing felt good, though I don't know if it did much from a gameplay perspective. The music was good and the sound effects serviceable. Maybe some checkpoints would be nice, like at the points where you grow maybe. Everything felt nice and polished.

bobsleigh 2017-05-06 21:27

Thas was amazing! The music was so engaging. The game felt very polished overall. I loved how you'd zoom out when changing zone: that was really cool. I also laugh when I saw the death screen (won't say why, 'cause I don't want to spoil it).

The game was quite hard though: I like it when there are some checkpoint. Also, I prefer when I can hold down the mouse button and keep shooting.

Still, that was a fantastic game, and I kept the clicking the mouse button long enough so that my finger si hurting. Congrats!

martenscedric 2017-05-06 21:33

Very innovative, I'm very impressed by the transition when you change zones, great work  ! I tried breaking those enemy spawner while going in a new zone without taking the get bigger thing. I could shoot it but not break it, then when I got the get bigger thing they broke. Not sure if that was intended but I enjoyed the game anyways!

abhimonk 2017-05-06 21:46

Really impressive game. I love the growing-shrinking mechanic when you move to the next area. The VFX when you hit something with your bullets are very nice too. The art style is really well done. I love the neon colors and the pixel art. Great music too.

Overall, this game feels very polished (love the BSOD for the death screen too). Great job!

le-slo 2017-05-06 21:56

I enjoyed this game very much, a polished shooter with difficulty. I like how each map is small but it takes "time" to finish it and go to the next one. It's a shame that you cant have check points, or regain the health after clearing one zone. And a detail that i think that works really well is how fast the error-game over screen shows when your die, it feels totally like a real computer error. Congratulations.

madsj 2017-05-06 23:36

The aesthetics were nice, the combat got monotonous, wish there were more ways of moving around, different ways to shoot, more enemy variety. The growing and shrinking was intriguing. It's possible to move the mouse outside the window and get a combat disadvantage!

chaseplays 2017-05-07 00:18

Wow! I loved everything about this - the gameplay, the music, the art! It was addicting, and all felt very polished. The growing mechanic was great and I was really surprised when I first saw it. I liked the enemy designs, and overall had a lot of fun! I wasn't able to finish it, but only got halfway through the 3rd level(?) when I started to get annoyed that I kept restarting at the beginning. It would have been nice to have spawnpoints set each time you grow. Overall, fantastic job! I'd love to see if you ever made a post-jam version.

meronsoda 2017-05-07 01:26

Awesome concept, design and art. I really enjoyed your game. There are some flaws I would like to report:

+ :exclamation:Forced windowed mode + I can't finish your game, and its not my fault... The game is forced window, with no maximize and no full screen. So I accidentaly click off window, which loses focus and I die before I can go back to the game. :bulb:*Allowing stretched full screen or locking cursor inside of window could be solutions.* + :exclamation:The punishment is too harsh + I am sent back to the very first start when I die (which is mostly caused by the previous point). :bulb:*Adding savepoints could be a solution.* + :exclamation:No cooldown on shooting + I have a customizable mouse, and I can configure it to click one **BILLION** times until my processor melts when I hold a side button, but I usually keep it 20 per second (I bet you weren't expecting that ). I use it a lot in MOBAs to avoid getting my hand hurt. Check this: antivirus2.gif :bulb:*Adding shoot cooldown could be a solution.* + :exclamation:The bullet sound is cute and awesome, but can cause headache + The bullet sound pitch is very high and if you consider I can (and will) shoot 20 bullets per second, its a guaranteed headache. :bulb:*Lowering bullet sound volume could be a solution.*

Do not take these points too serious, I am not kidding when I say I like the game. The comment is simply about trying to help you improve your product.

Massive thanks to everyone who has played and commented so far! I appreciate the positive comments (a lot), but I also really welcome the criticisms - trust me, no one knows the flaws in this as well as me!

I'm going to try and take the time to play all your games as well.

Be brutal and thanks for playing.

kappaix 2017-05-07 10:13

Also @meronsoda - Nope - I did not see your custom mouse coming at all! You win the 'innovative ways to break the game wide open award' - congrats! Thanks for the other critique as well - much appreciated.

bryan-livingston 2017-05-10 20:04

Love it! Voted 5 stars!

puppetmaster 2017-05-10 21:29

Amazing!! Very, very cool shooter game!! Sound and music a top. Like the transition from level to level. It fits perfect in to the theme. Congrats, this is a top entry!!

wischutz 2017-05-10 23:15

Awesome! A great mashup of pacman, matrix and inception! The beautiful artwork and music creates a relly good mood.

Well done, mate!

xenosns 2017-05-11 00:33

Very nice! Thrilled to see another game using the zooming world map thing like mine. Graphics, audio, controls, all tight! Kept getting ganged up on in the third zoom though.

kirenio 2017-05-11 08:01

Great game. Reminded me of good old arcade cabinets.

lord-bobyness 2017-05-15 20:03

A classic genre, distilled down it's best parts, then converted into a unique aesthetic style and polished up to a sparkle. This is one of my favorite entries!

I was unfortunately, unable to complete it though, as it's just too hard and sends the player too far back. I'm sorry, I promise I tried.

dejvo 2017-05-16 11:59

Finally a topdown shooter with the feel, that I'm accomplishing something. I liked the zoomout and the concept. it was very good. great work

csanyk 2017-05-17 02:59

This was rather good. I found that the left mouse button fires, not right mouse button. Once I sorted that out, it was a lot of fun. I find it reminiscent of 2D Wolfenstein, Berzerk, and Frenzy! which puts it in fine company. Well done!

philomory 2017-05-17 17:29

This is very well put together, and a lot of fun to play. I'm not sure I like the huge difficulty spike partway through the third section; I've no problem with difficult games, but prefer a smoother difficulty curve, whereas this went from "pretty easy" to "omg you're dead" in a blink. I think the solution there would be to add at least a *few* frames of invincibility when hit, so you can't be taken from full health to dead in a single go.

Other than that, this is very good! Kudos to you!
